Would it be possible to change that part of the app? As Coraspia mentioned the Headmistress would be unwilling to put these kinds of restrictions on who can study Potions or not, and moreover at least in this world the members of the Order aren't supposed to be common knowledge anyways or something that the members would advertise or openly admit, which make an Order-only class a little difficult

i edited it. If you need, I'll just remove that section, as I think it would be less fun if I was allowed to ban sussed Order members.

Yeah haha true that would be less fun, no need to restrict the class composition to suspected members either way, the classroom scenes are opportunities for our characters to interact and experience conflicts or tensions anyways so the fewer restrictions on who can attend, the better imho
Purgatio is an absolutist hereditary monarchy run as a one-party fascist dictatorship, which seized power in a sudden and abrupt coup d'état of 1987-1988, on an authoritarian eugenic and socially Darwinistic political philosophy and ideology, now ruled and dominated with a brutal iron fist under the watchful reign of Le Grand Roi Chalon-Arlay de la Fayette and La Grande Reine Geneviève de la Fayette (née Aumont) (i.e., the 'Founding Couple' or Le Couple Fondateur).

Name of Character: Rutherford Conyer-Fawley
Sex: Male
Physical Appearance: Rutherford has a curvy black-caned hair and ample forehead with white skin. His eyes are somewhat big and grey under rather thick eyebrows. He has a strong cheekbone and slightly hooked nose.
Place of Birth: Godric’s Hollow.
Date of Birth: February 1st, 1974
Age (RP starts on 24 April 2039): 65
Hogwarts House: Slytherin
Blood Status: Pure-Blood
Wand:Maple, Troll-whisker. 8.5 inches.
Loyalty/Allegiance: True Neutral. Although Rutherford understands the goodness in the Alliance’s aims, he sees the historical logic in the continued supremacy of Wizardkind, and as a pre-War Slytherin, he is not exempted from the prejudices his House was known for.
Rutherford was born from an offshoot of the Fawley bloodline in Godric’s Hollow. Upon attending Hogwarts School he proved an interest in Arithmancy and Ancient Runes. Although selected into Slytherin, he distanced himself from the ideas of Lord Voldemort, not partaking in any student activity that could be related to the Dark Lord. Luckily for him, he was able to leave Hogwarts in the peace that followed, and headed to the Near East and Scandinavia to take part in studies and research relating to Ancient Runes Finno-Nordic and Post-Hittite origin. He published a paper in 1996 and another one in 1997. The former celebrated, while the other shunned due to the political situation in Britain.
Rutherford wrote a number of books relating to both his fields in Near East Ancient Runes and Pre-Roman cultures, and one controversial paper on Pre-Indo-European Ancient Runes.
With the toll the Second Wizarding War had in his family’s main branch, Rutherford decided to stay closer to home. Returning to Britain he took to carpentry, and sold wood and stone-carved runes with both decorative and practical uses to wizarding families.
In 2037 he was offered a position as Professor of Ancient Runes in Hogwarts, and decided to take the calling, feeling age creeping in. Although as a healthy wizard he probably has several decades ahead of him, Rutherford feels the urge to pass on his experience to younger minds before his own rusts and rots.
Leadership Roles: Ancient Runes Professor.

Excellent biography and application, looking forward to having you onboard, your app is ACCEPTED and I've linked your profile in the cast of characters :)

Great! I will be adding some student characters today. Thinking they could be related to Neville on Great Uncle Algie's side, if that's alright.

Name of Character:Frank Elphias Boyd Longbottom.
Sex: Male

-Hannah Boyd (Elder Sister)
- Thomas Boyd (Father)
-Elinor Longbottom (Mother)
-Algie Longbottom’s son (maternal Grandfather)
-Algie Longbottom (Great-Grandfather)
-Enid Longbottom (Great-Grandmother
-Mr. Longbottom (Great Granduncle)
-Frank Longbottom (First Cousin once removed)
-Neville Longbottom (Second Cousin once removed)

Physical Appearance: Frank is overgrown for his age and rather thin with falling shoulders. His skin is unnaturally changed and obviously magically altered into a still-healing tanning, but is slowly gaining it’s particular pale-look. He has short dark-blonde hair and brown eyes. His face seems slightly consumpted, but it is obviously supposed to be round-looking.
Place of Birth: Shrewsbury.
Date of Birth: December 26th, 2022.
Age : (almost) 16
Year: Sixth
Hogwarts House: Gryffindor
Blood Status: Half-blood.
Wand:English Oak, Dragon Heartstring. 11 inches.
Loyalty/Allegiance: Frank has timidly disclosed a support for the Order, but it has been in situations at which he is trying to downplay his muggle side.
Leadership Roles: Frank plays in the Quidditch team for Gryffindor as a Keeper.
Character Biography: Frank is distantly related to Professor Longbottom, and was named for his relative’s father. He is, however, a descendant of his great-uncle Algie Longbottom. Most importantly for Frank, Algie’s son, Ruben, married a muggle he met in London. Their daughter, Elinor, was born a witch, and married Thomas Boyd, a wizard she met on her post-Hogwarts trip through Europe. Of this marriage Frank is the middle child. The elder girl, Hannah, is currently dedicated to a small business in Diagon Alley.
Frank was very quickly characterized as either timid or insecure. The exact reason for this is unknown, but it became obvious that being partially half-blood is a soft spot for him, and is fast to react to insults related to his family.
His passage through Hogwarts saw little things of note for him. On Third Year he was suspended from visiting Hogsmeade after being implicated in a fight near the Shrieking Shack. He joined the Gryffindor Quidditch Team on Fourth Year as a Keeper and has generally shown an acceptable performance. His strongest subjects have been Charms and Defense Against the Dark Arts, and his weakest is Herbology and Potions. After taking Ancient Runes by pressure from his mother, he has been kept in check from trouble by Professor Conyer-Fawley, a friend of his mother’s

Character Type (Student/Staff):
Name of Character: James Martin Boyd Longbottom
Sex: Male
Relatives:
-Frank E. Boyd (Elder Brother)
-Hannah Boyd (Elder Sister)
- Thomas Boyd (Father)
-Elinor Longbottom (Mother)
-Algie Longbottom’s son (maternal Grandfather)
-Algie Longbottom (Great-Grandfather)
-Enid Longbottom (Great-Grandmother
-Mr. Longbottom (Great Granduncle)
-Frank Longbottom (First Cousin once removed)
-Neville Longbottom (Second Cousin once removed)

Physical Appearance: Sharing into his brother’s overall look, James has a pale skin and brown eyes. His hair is more intensely blonde and his face is oval-shaped with as short, pointy nose. He is, however, not tall for his age, and stands just below the average.
Place of Birth: Shrewsbury
Date of Birth: February 7th 2025
Age: 14
Year:Fourth Year
Hogwarts House: Gryffindor
Blood Status: Half-Blood
Wand:Dogwood, Dragon Heartstring. 11.5 inches.
Pet: Named “Memory”, Eastern screech owl. 7 years-old.
Loyalty/Allegiance: James has been kept away from the debate regarding the Alliance and the Order, but he is probably aligned with his family’s pro-Alliance views.
Character Biography : James is distantly related to Professor Longbottom. He is, however, a descendant of his great-uncle Algie Longbottom. Algie’s son, Ruben, married a muggle he met in London. Their daughter, Elinor, was born a witch, and married Thomas Boyd, a wizard she met on her post-Hogwarts trip through Europe. Of this marriage James is the youngest child. The elder girl, Hannah, is currently dedicated to a small business in Diagon Alley.
Unlike his elder brother, James has shown to be less timid amongst his peers. Though he has admitted the traces of Muggle blood in his family are of some importance to him. It is mostly through professor’s Conyer-Fawley’s influence that he has restrained himself from participating in the ongoing debacle in the Wizarding world, or to get in more trouble than necessary.
He is particularly well known for landing himself in detention due to constant night escapades. In Second Year he became the youngest student to breach into the Astronomy Tower, though he was revealed as the culprit later on the day, which costed him a week of sweeping the silver cups of the Trophy Room.
His strongest subjects are Charms, like his brother, and Transfiguration, though he struggles with Defense Against the Dark Arts and loathes Divination.

Wow okay now I'm very very excited and interested to see where these two Longbottom brothers go in this universe, they have such compelling and contrasting personalities it really makes me naturally curious to see where you take them, anyways both student-apps are ACCEPTED and I've added them both to the cast :)

Character Type (Student/Staff): Student
Name of Character: Andromeda Edwards
Sex: Female
Physical Appearance (use a picture, an illustration, or a physical description):
Image
Place of Birth: Godrics Hollow, England
Date of Birth: March 16th, 2023
Age (RP starts on 24 April 2039):16
Year (if Student): 6th
Hogwarts House (if Staff, specify alumnus House): Slytherin
Blood Status (Muggle-born/Half-Blood/Pure-Blood): Half blood
Wand Hawthorn wood with a Unicorn core 13 ¾" and a Unbending flexibility
Pet Tabby cat
Loyalty/Allegiance (The Alliance/The Order) (specify if your character is a member of that organisation, or a non-member sympathetic to its aims): The Alliance (sympathizer)
Leadership Roles (if you want your character to have a leadership position, check the "Dramatis Personae" in the next post down to see the available positions for students, teachers, and staff, the assignment of roles between players is at the discretion of the OPs, but this is for the purposes of expressing your interest): Prefect
Character Biography (do make this detailed, certainly at least 5 lines, because it will also serve as a substitute for an RP sample, go into your character's motivation, their ideology, their background, their personality, most importantly their thoughts on this wizarding world and the brewing conflict therein):Andromeda Farrow Indie Edwards the 2nd is a 6th year Slytherin Prefect. Born in Godrics Hollow to wizard father and M.O.M employee Andrew Edwards, and to mother and housewife Amelia Stonewall-Edwards, she is one of the few 'good' Slytherins. Truly, she embodies the good in Slytherin, the intelligence and cunning needed to wear the green tie. She rejects the notion that all Slytherins are Voldemorts-to-be, although does refrain from making friends with her own house.
Much to the dismay of her fellow Slytherins, she was made a Prefect in her fifth year. She is forced to keep to herself in the common room, but when in hallways, classes, or free time, she can be seen with her best friend Quinn Ademshawl, a Ravenclaw 5th year. For this, both young girls have been ostracized from their native houses.
Edwards continues going enacting her duties and staying with her insufferable, Order supporting Housemates to prove that, in fact, Slyhterin is a noble house. She looks up greatly to Merlin, who was a Slytherin at his time in Hogwarts. When she grows up, she intends to join the Aurors, or the Gringotts Treasure Corps.
Edward views the new war with grave dismay. She believes that the Alliance is in the right, but that the Pure Bloods concerns, while not precisely justified, are reason enable to think. She still wishes to join the Alliance, however, she sees it prudent to only support them while surrounded by murderous pure bloods wielding illegal magic.

Character Type: Student
Name of Character: Regulus Carrow
Sex: Male
Physical Appearance: Tall and attractive with short dark hair, bright green eyes and strong, sharp features
Place of Birth: Alnwick, England
Date of Birth: 24th June 2022
Age (RP starts on 24 April 2039): 16
Year (if Student): 6
Hogwarts House: Ravenclaw
Blood Status:: Pure-Blood
Loyalty/Allegiance: The Order (member)
Leadership Roles: Prefect
Character Biography : The Carrow family is one of the Sacred Twenty-Eight: one of the few remaining wizarding families that can be argued to have truly pure blood. The Carrows in particular are renowned for producing wizards and witches skilled in the dark arts. While the main branch of the family contained the Death Eaters Amycus and Alecto Carrow a cadet branch under young Cyprianus Carrow was far more muted in its support for Voldemort. As a result, Amycus and Alecto were imprisoned in Azkaban and Cyprianus inherited their substantial wealth.

After the Second Wizarding War, the Carrow family supported pro-Muggle reforms, believing that the time for Voldemort's ideology had passed. The Carrow family was initially rewarded for their support, in the belief it would sway other influential old houses too. However, after the ascension of Aubrey Archibald Douglas, this changed. The Carrows were mildly supportive of pro-Muggle reform but did not share the "extremist" views of the Alliance. Their servants were freed, much of their wealth seized, their jobs within the Ministry stripped and rewarded to those with Muggle blood.

Regulus experienced the effects of The Alliance's crusade first hand and it has hardened him against their aims. Regulus is not a typical order member: he is extroverted, charming, witty. A Ravenclaw interested in the pursuits of culture: art, music, theatre. So well thought of he was chosen as Prefect. But watching his family fall from favour, being bullied at times due to their background, and his personal pride as a Pure-Blooded wizard has convinced him that pro-Muggle legislation has gone too far. Regulus isn't particularly extreme. He doesn't want to kill all Muggles or make them mere servants, but he does believe in rolling back Muggle reforms, making the Ministry entirely Pure of Half-Blood as well as restricting education such as Hogwarts.

Wonderful character profile, let's see where you take her :)

Andromeda's ACCEPTED

Small thing - could you change her birthday? The birthday and ages don't match at the moment, she should be born in 2023 to be 16 years of age, unless my math's wonky

Wonderful, love the character's motivations, welcome onboard Woodstovia, your app's ACCEPTED and Regulus has been added to the cast :)

Character Type (Staff):
Name of Character: Martina Ollivander
Sex: female
Physical Appearance (use a picture, an illustration, or a physical description): Martina is a tall but plump old lady with moderate-length white hair. Her appearance has often been described as strange, given the size of her piercing green eyes that seem to take up half of her face. The face is generally seen smiling however and Martina is not known as one for discipline.
Place of Birth: London, England
Date of Birth: 4 March 1913
Age (RP starts on 24 April 2039): 126
Year (if Student):
Hogwarts House (if Staff, specify alumnus House): Gryffindor
Blood Status (Muggle-born/Half-Blood/Pure-Blood): half-blood (pureblood father, muggle-born mother)
Loyalty/Allegiance (The Alliance/The Order) (specify if your character is a member of that organisation, or a non-member sympathetic to its aims): Alliance, though only secretly a card-carrying member
Leadership Roles (if you want your character to have a leadership position, check the "Dramatis Personae" in the next post down to see the available positions for students, teachers, and staff, the assignment of roles between players is at the discretion of the OPs, but this is for the purposes of expressing your interest): Headmistress of hogwarts
Character Biography (do make this detailed, certainly at least 5 lines, because it will also serve as a substitute for an RP sample, go into your character's motivation, their ideology, their background, their personality, most importantly their thoughts on this wizarding world and the brewing conflict therein):
Martina Ollivander was born to noted wandmaker Gervaise Ollivander and his wife, a muggle-born witch named Matilda close to the family business in Diagon Alley. Growing up, Martina showed no interest in wandmaking and so it was to her brother Garrick that the family business was eventually given.
Martina was sorted into Gryffindor house upon her arrival at Hogwarts and in her second year established herself as their star seeker. A popular if somewhat bookish student, Martina seemed to excel in every subject offered. The wizarding world was rather peaceful for much of her early life, until the rise of Grindelwald in 1926.
Surprisingly, Martina was quite possibly the only wizard or witch in Britain to be truly neutral, invoking the scorn of many around her. Although the war didn't affect Britain as much as it did those on the continent, the presence of Dumbledore largely keeping Grindelwald at bay, not having views on the subject one way or the other was considered very odd indeed.
Martina continued her studies after school as a magical historian and quite an accomplished magical researcher. On a semi-regular basis, she would publish new spells that she had developed seemingly without any pattern whatsoever. One month would bring forth a new way of making your dinner cook itself, the next a targeted incantation whose only purpose seemed to be to shatter all the glass in a given building. Additionally, Martina took her growing reputation as a skilled and well-read witch on the campaign trail, focussing on what seemed an equally random collection of interests as those that inspired her spellcraft. Martina leant her support to providing greater rights to house elves one minute, and the next she was informing people why flying carpets were a preferable mode of transportation for a wizarding family. Strangely this was one thing she never had; her critics would suggest that the reason for the lack of marriage or children was because she was either absorbed in research or travelling the country on the next bizarre idea that came to her head at any given moment.

Things began to change for Martina Ollivander when the first and second wizarding wars ravaged the wizarding community of Britain. The death eaters even tried to recruit her, her long paternal pureblood line proving more than they could resist. Towards the end of the first wizarding war, a rather angry-looking Martina appeared at St. Mungos with a note for the healers which read simply:
2 wizards very poorly at Paddington station. Suggest retrieval. - MO

Although she was not a fighter, the combination of the new and interesting ways in which she had dispatched the two death eaters on the first attempt and her seeming unwillingness to get involved seemed to have dissuaded further recruitment attempts. She played a minor role in the battle of Hogwarts, however only appeared close to the end; far too late to do much real damage. She was surprised therefore when in 2001 she was invited to take up the post of history of the wizarding world professor at Hogwarts; surprised, but very greatful.
Martina took to her job with obvious passion, not just educating in the dry monotone way that Professor Binns had done but also making students debate and challenge one another. Though it did not have the excitement of the various 'wands out' classes, many students took to her debates happily. In 2031, following the departure of her short-lived predecessor Martina was promoted to the headmistress position. She didn't take long to institute several changes to the ancient school, most notable of which was the ending of house segregation. Not only were students now able to sit with whoever they wanted at mealtimes, but a new public commonroom was established which was even more comfortable for students to congregate in during their leisure time. She hoped that with this change, far more students would mix with those from very different backgrounds.

One thing that did not stop during Martina's time at Hogwarts however was her almost random campaigning. Her most controvercial position, which ended up being a successful one, was that prison time in Azkaban had to have a limit to it. People who had been behind its grim stone walls for years were released under the Magical Criminal Rehabilitation act, many of them without much of a vetting procedure in place to make sure they didn't go back to whatever had gotten them locked up in the first place. Martina Ollivander was saddened but not surprised to see the new rise of pureblood supremacist activity which took place following the passage of the act she had campaigned for for several years.

Nice. Now Andromeda can sit with her friends in Gruffenclaw (combination of Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, and Ravenclaw I thought of when finishing the series).

Excellent, eccentric Headmistress will really help enliven the proceedings at Hogwarts, I'm sure, her scenes are bound to be an entertaining laugh-riot :)

I'll add her to the Dramatis Personae but small issue, Coraspia, her birth-year and age don't match. 1909 is the year her brother Garrick Ollivander was born, but if you want her to be 126 years old then she needs to be born in the year 1913 rather than 1909, that's all, everything else is all good

That was the idea :)

When it comes to rps like this, I always think its best to set things up to maximise opportunities for characters to interact with other characters, as much as possible, so Coraspia and I thought up a few ideas to make that happen. Having classes which aren't limited to one-year only, having Great Hall dinners without House segregation, and a Headmistress encouraging students to hang out and play and mingle in a 'joint' common room as opposed to staying in their House common rooms alone, these are all meant to maximise opportunities for our student-characters to interact with each other, and provide an in-universe explanation for why student-characters aren't sticking strictly with members of their own Houses - which obviously from the rp's perspective wouldn't be very fun for the rpers

He is a curious inventor who has attempted to creat many contraptions using magic, and is a keen learner who always tries to pay attention but often cant help getting bored. He loves Care of Magical Creatures and all of the magical creatures that he learns about during those classes, and it is his favourite class by far. His family is quite a rich pure-blood family with a long history, but he has spent most of his life away from the main house on trips around the world and while reading books about bith magic and sometimes secretly, about the muggle world.

Wonderful, a third-year student at Hogwarts, the app is ACCEPTED, welcome aboard! :)

The IC OP post is currently in the works at the moment, fleshing out the details and all, but don't worry, I'll be sure to send a TG to you and all the other participants once its up and running in no time
Purgatio is an absolutist hereditary monarchy run as a one-party fascist dictatorship, which seized power in a sudden and abrupt coup d'état of 1987-1988, on an authoritarian eugenic and socially Darwinistic political philosophy and ideology, now ruled and dominated with a brutal iron fist under the watchful reign of Le Grand Roi Chalon-Arlay de la Fayette and La Grande Reine Geneviève de la Fayette (née Aumont) (i.e., the 'Founding Couple' or Le Couple Fondateur).

Character Type (Student/Staff):
Name of Character: Osahiro Aozora ||| 青空 修寛 (Aozora Osahiro)
Sex: Male
Physical Appearance: Standing roughly 5’6, puberty seems to be in a more impressionist stage-stockily built with a swimmer’s tan, the young Japanese man stands awkwardly between his peers-evidently a bit broader than he’d prefer, and a surprisingly quick growing beard. This is what knocking-boots with an Oni does to your kids, people.
Place of Birth: Hitoyoshi, Kumamoto Prefecture, Japan
Date of Birth: 26/11/2024
Age (RP starts on 24 April 2039): 15
Year (if Student): 4th
Wand: 12 inches, coral core, pinewood, reasonably pliant
Pet: A Hitotsume-Kozō named Chata-tan. True to their namesake being “tea-leaf”, they are a matcha green monocular creature, typically depicted with one of three things-a ledger, a thermos of tea, or an umbrella. As explained in customs, the Hitotsume-kozō are analogous to house elves, but with some caveats. Chata-tan can only arrive outside IE, a place unobstructed by roofing and typically associated with the outside. Sometimes that can be windows with sufficient roofing, but more often than not hitotsume-kozō appear on areas leading to the outside-eg prior to porches/thresholds, driveways, sidewalks, ect. Secondly, he cannot be summoned more than [x] times a day, due to contractual agreement pertaining to the Workstyle Reform Act of 2018. Due to being nomadic and passive, they cannot actively cause mischief like other yokai, and typically is used as an express delivery service and part-time valet for the young Aozora. Interviews with “Chata-tan” state that his particular clan served the Aozora family for a few generations, and has been the “designated childhood imaginary friend”. He regrets not being there to serve as much as he wishes to, having grown quite fond of Osahiro, but states that Osahiro’s at the age where “he ought learn to do things on his own, he’ll be shipped off to the army in a couple years!” Requests for “Chata-tan” to speak with other “yokai” (magical species) of Britain are pending.
Hogwarts House (if Staff, specify alumnus House): Ravenclaw, by a hair. Interviews with the Sorting Hat indicated that the young Osahiro had “potential” to join Hufflepuff, but was ultimately selected due to his expression of interest in new knowledge.
Blood Status: Pure Blood (not sacred twenty eight tier, but the great-grandparent was half-blood).
Loyalty/Allegiance (The Alliance/The Order) (specify if your character is a member of that organisation, or a non-member sympathetic to its aims): This is where things get…complicated.

While most of his views are Gauntist, he is far more open to compromise and pragmatism than other hardliners. Meritocracy was the watchword in Japanese Magical Politics-and those who had no desire to contribute ought not be contributed to. His views can be summarized thusly, “You can teach a wizard how to use a gun, but you can’t teach a [muggle] gunman how to be a wizard”. To him, and Clan Aozora along with the other more liberal minded clans of Japan, magic is a facet of learning and artistry, akin to any other craft. While focusing is well and good, relying solely upon a single avenue is impractical-not to mention makes you look rather idiotic when you’re flummoxed by muggle devices.

In summation, Gauntist Sympathizer, with several asterixis.
Leadership Roles (if you want your character to have a leadership position, check the "Dramatis Personae" in the next post down to see the available positions for students, teachers, and staff, the assignment of roles between players is at the discretion of the OPs, but this is for the purposes of expressing your interest): N/A
Character Biography:
Much of the Aozora Clan’s history has been steeped in legend. Being one of the survivors of the second Mongol Invasion of Japan in 1283, the nameless ancestor was-from what scholars could attest-a Half-blood common “spell-soldier” used in an attempt to demonstrate Kublai Khan’s “Mandate of Heaven” and to prevent the rumors of a “divine wind” (the Typhoon that would ultimately devastate the invading forces). This lone survivor took upon the name of the sky-blue banner that the Tengriist Mongols rode under, and eventually settled down in what would become the Kuramoto Prefecture, the tenacious wizard mingling with the local Oni and other yokai who used the volcanic Mt. Aso as a forge and refuge. This tenacity survives to this very day, over seven centuries later, though the unorthodox grit would express itself in other ways.

Aside from proponents of the “wizarding loophole” in the treaties leveled against Japan post World War II/First Wizarding War, much of the Aozora’s history is not relevant to Hogwarts-save for the deployment of Japanese wizards to combat Voldemort in the Second Wizarding War: They were Sadamu Aozora and Jūshirō “the Giant-slayer” Yasuda. It was with Yasuda, who had fought during the 2nd Wizarding War, and began to bear witness to the waning days of the Korean War and the Chinese Cultural Revolution, which influenced him to begin questioning the necessity of the Statute of Secrecy and the competency of the International Wizarding Confederation, who’s criticism went from the ravings of a cantankerous war veteran to legitimate concerns when Voldemort rapidly returned to power during the mid-late 1990s. After this, and due to the Granger and Douglas Administrations, Yasuda and like-minded individuals began to seize on the zeitgeist of “reform” and “renewal”, naturally to their own ends-ideological or self-serving.

Which leads us to today’s generation, and the person actually attending Hogwarts. Osahiro Aozora, grandson of the aforementioned Sadamu Aozora, was born in the public hospital of Hitoyoshi, and grew up in his family’s hidden castle along the border between the Kumamoto and Miyazaki Prefectures. His time there was a distant memory of running around the verdant summers and taking in the picturesque winters of the last remaining rural areas of Japan. Like many Japanese Wizards, he would attend the western equivalent of preschool in a nearby Shrine (in this case, the famed Aoi Aso Shrine), which allowed the young lad to socialize and utilize his talents among his peers-with many adorable results. At the tender age of 7, he was enrolled, before formally rooming at Mahoutokoro Academy proper at age 11. It was during this grueling experience the basics of wandless magic, mirroring the “Mystical Martial Arts” and yogic traditions that became intertwined with wizardry-broom riding, and all sorts of schooling that was expected of him and his peers. This draconian regimen was not without purpose, for it was expected (read as mandatory) for these young men and women to enlist in the Japanese Magical Peacekeeping Forces, which acts as both their equivalent of Aurors as well as a nifty loophole to a rather restricted “muggle” military.

On to Osahiro himself, he was considered a quiet kid, speaking only at great lengths with those he trusts and considers “worth speaking to”, preferring the company of animals, nature, and a plane-free night on Minami Iwo Jima. The Aozoras, like a rising number of Wizarding Clans in Japan, allowed Osahiro the ability to integrate himself with technology and modern life skills, though not without controversy-Osahiro himself is inclined to agree with his family’s grumblings about not wanting to be affiliated with “an erratic Englishman who lurches reforms forward whilst stagnating pragmatic progress”, though many students and teachers, in true Confician fashion, fear upsetting the status quo. The young man seldom speaks, but listens often, jotting away notes and struggling to eliminate his accent entirely from English, and believes that-at least in Japan-integration between magicians and muggles isn’t only possible-but necessary for either to survive. Due to the Japanese magicians often being associated with mikos and yamabushi, there is a sense of spirituality in Japanese wizardry, and Osahiro believes that just as a muggle may master material knowledge, the wizard masters the immaterial-neither being superior to the other, but both necessary. Without the muggles, there would be no drive to advance magic, and without the mages, muggles would be lost, adrift in a world where materialism reigned supreme.

With this sense of balance and justice, Osahiro looked into the Aurors and other wizarding schools, and endeavored to master English (he hasn’t quite yet), to one day study abroad. While originally slated to study at Ilvermorny, he was transferred to Hogwarts due to an as of yet unknown bureaucratic reason.

[1](See Sorcerers and Zaibatsus(sic): A Post-Wizarding War Observation on Modern Japanese Magical Customs for information regarding on how the Japanese government negotiated for the implementation of wizards after being rendered “disarmed” per the Security Treaty Between Japan and the United States (1951), sub treaty Treaty of Cooperation between Makuhoto and the International Wizarding Confederation. In summation, as a loophole, while the Japanese cannot have a substantial standing muggle army, the ICW deemed that a “draft” of magicians would be needed to prevent the rise of the then Dark Lord Grindelwald, due to Japan’s status as an Axis member and an isolated imperialist power. Since the Second Wizarding War (1970-1981) and the Death Eater Insurgency (1995-1998), what was meant to subdue a defeated enemy into vassalage has instead resulted in a renewal-and at times justification of isolationism and a questioning of the Old Guard, as evidenced by Jūshirō Yasuda’s slow but stark rise to power.

Excellent, a foreign exchange student, can't wait to see how he reacts to things in the British wizarding world, especially when the central political fissure in this country is so different and concerns such different issues than the political fissures in his homeland, also I really love the amount of detail that went into the additional world-building you added for Mahōtokoro and the Japanese wizarding society, in terms of history, culture, politics etc., really made for such an interesting and engaging read!! :) I especially loved how you managed to weave in the irl 'pacifist clauses' forced into Japan's post-war constitution into the historical events of the Japanese wizarding world, that was so clever and it was such a great choice

But anyways, I digress, Osahiro is ACCEPTED and he's been added to the cast of characters, glad to have you on-board Danceria :)

I think we should start the IC now. It's just a suggestion, but I think we have enough characters to be interesting, and the IC should attract other people to the RP, as well.

Yeah don't worry, that is the plan, as mentioned in an earlier post I've already started work on the IC OP but its not a one-day sort of thing or something that can be finished in a few hours, its pretty detailed work and there's a lot of thought and research of HP lore and canon that's accompanied it, I think hopefully you'll understand when the IC is ready and posted what I meant by this, but I'll just say for now that yes, not to worry, I've already started work on the IC yesterday, its in my drafts, its not yet finished because its a fairly detailed piece of writing and I've had to make a lot of edits and research and fact-check certain things to make sure there aren't any glaring canon-related issues with it (although I suspect with how many different things in the HP universe there are, no matter how much I go over it someone will spot something that isn't entirely right, I'm sure).

Anyways, yes as mentioned in the earlier post, I'll post the IC the moment that its ready and then let everyone know, I think it should be up in a few days' time.

Your crazy DADA professor!
Character Type (Staff):
Name of Character: Donald Vincent Mcmoran
Sex: male
Physical Appearance (use a picture, an illustration, or a physical description): Donald has had a hard life, and it shows. He has a powerfully muscular build, and stands at around 6 ft 3 with a weatherbeaten face, a nose that has been broken several times and a few gold teeth visible. His hair is grey and straggly, and he walks with a slight limp showing a tightness in his right leg. His voice is deep and rough, with a Scottish accent that speaks of a youth growing up in the formerly slum-like Gorbals area of Glasgow.
Place of Birth: Glasgow, Scotland
Date of Birth: 16 april 1960
Age (RP starts on 24 April 2039): 79
Year (if Student):
Hogwarts House (if Staff, specify alumnus House): Huffelpuff
Blood Status (Muggle-born/Half-Blood/Pure-Blood): half-blood
Loyalty/Allegiance (The Alliance/The Order) (specify if your character is a member of that organisation, or a non-member sympathetic to its aims): fully paid up, card-carrying, proud and public member of the alliance
Leadership Roles (if you want your character to have a leadership position, check the "Dramatis Personae" in the next post down to see the available positions for students, teachers, and staff, the assignment of roles between players is at the discretion of the OPs, but this is for the purposes of expressing your interest): Defence against the dark arts teacher and head of Huffelpuff house
Character Biography (do make this detailed, certainly at least 5 lines, because it will also serve as a substitute for an RP sample, go into your character's motivation, their ideology, their background, their personality, most importantly their thoughts on this wizarding world and the brewing conflict therein):Donald Mcmoran was born to Vincent Mcmoran, a disreputable halfblood wizard considered the Mundungus Fletcher of his day, and his wife Elizabeth who worked as a secretary for the CEO of a successful clothes manufacturing company. The household he grew up in was highly dysfunctional, with Elizabeth earning the money, Vincent spending it as part of many doomed get rich quick schemes, drinking what remained away and punching (or using magic on) his unfortunate wife when she complained about this practise.
This continued up until around the time when Donald was 9 years old, and it was witnessed by one of the few wizarding friends that Vincent still had. The friend, for reasons entirely unknown to Vincent, decided that he didn't wish to be associated with a man who liked to beat up his wife and informed the ministry, who dispatched an inspector to see what was going on. The young Donald carelessly (or deliberately) mentioned that he'd seen his father perform magic on his mother; an inspection of the man's wand proved this to be the case, and Vincent was quickly shipped off to Azkaban. The dear John letter from Elizabeth was quick, the divorce papers even quicker and soon mother and son had been shipped off into one of the many overspill towns around Glasgow by the government away from the overcrowding they had experienced before.
Donald's letter to attend Hogwarts was not unexpected, and like all new students he had the sorting hat placed upon his head. The news he had been sorted into Hufflepuff however was not what he had expected or hoped for.

Nobody could say whether it was the stigma of being the child of a broken home or embarrassment at being sorted into Hufflepuff that caused what happened next, however Donald Vincent Mcmoran quickly took it upon himself to become the best student that he could have possibly become. He excelled in nearly everything, aside from divination and astronomy, but in particular defence against the dark arts, care of magical creatures, charms and potions came to him naturally. To his surprise, armed with his 6 outstanding NEWT results he was immediately handpicked by the auror office.
The first wizarding war was almost over by the time that his training was complete, much to his dismay; however, he found great pleasure in tracking down escaped death eaters. Though his superiors liked his willingness to throw himself into battles, his lack of subtlety did begin to raise a few eyebrows; this is illustrated by the fact he was one of a small minority of aurors to object to the unforgivable curses being re-criminalised once the threat had been dealt with. That being said however, he was responsible in his very short time for the deaths of 3 death eaters and the imprisonment of another 5.
In the ministry, there was only one man save those prone to dark magic, who was happy at Voldemort's return. That man was Donald Vincent Mcmoran, who had been getting a little bored of the petty criminals he'd been having to deal with at the time between the wars. During this time, one interest which he maintained involved regularly campaigning alongside Carlotta Pinkstone to get rid of the international statute of wizarding secrecy.
During the second war, Mcmoran was one of the first aurors to 'go rogue' as the death eater-controlled ministry called fighting against Voldemort. Though he could not achieve much besides removal of various snatcher gangs (utalising his favourite 'kill first ask questions later' policy) he equipped himself very well at the battle of Hogwarts. Following this he petitioned ministry officials to allow the hunting down not just of death eaters but all of those who had 'provided comfort to the enemy:' when asked to explain he informed them that this meant spouces and children of death eaters as they 'provide them with comfort by their presence.' His request was flatly rejected, as the top brass at the ministry were far too cowardly to execute innocent children on the street based on their parentage.
Mcmoran became more and more irrational as the numbers of actual dark wizards to hunt began to dwindle and the amount of people he wrongly arrested, hurt or in one memorable case blasted through a wall resulting both in an untimely death and much structural damage to the leaky cauldron led both to his dismissal from the ministry in 2029 and his lifetime ban from the leaky cauldron. After finding out the obvious, that a life of retirement didn't suit him, he applied to Hogwarts notoriously forgiving headmistress for a job in 2032. Though initially placing him on probation, although he could be somewhat brusk to pureblood students he showed himself a highly skilled professor, and to the vast majority of students a genuinely kind one. When students come to him seeking a teacher to look at their detention to see if it could be overturned, they have the highest success rate; indeed, visits to professors offices are often proceeded by a hopeful run up to the office of Professor Mcmoran.
Mcmoran has a few funny ways. He has a strange habit of referring to wizards from certain pureblood families by the names of deceased death eater relatives, calling purebloods as a whole 'death eaters,' and not seeming to care much that the easiest way of landing yourself in the hospital wing is attending the newly created duelling club.

As may be expected, Mcmoran takes a dimb (see: murderous) view when it comes to the order. His opinions don't stretch much further than 'just round them up and kill them all, nothing of value will be lost.' He also has strange views regarding wizarding secrecy, as he feels muggles are now ready to learn about the existance of wizards.

Following this he petitioned ministry officials to allow the hunting down not just of death eaters but all of those who had 'provided comfort to the enemy:' when asked to explain he informed them that this meant spouces and children of death eaters as they 'provide them with comfort by their presence.' Yeap it all looks good, I'll add his profile to the cast

Interesting man. Will enjoy reading his viewpoint and having my self-hating Muggle-born Slytherin interact with him.
