"Are Our Children Really Learning?" - Part 1 of The People's Voice
Video uploaded to YouTube and Vimeo, as well as the St. Cierge for President campaign website.

Dark, almost melancholic music played, as the first 5 seconds of the video was of dilipidated school facilities.

Teacher 1: "I'm Thomas Bookard, I teach in Chrysler Elementary School, here in Detroit..."

Parent 1: "I'm Virginia Hallet, a proud Tennesseean, and my son goes to Pikeville Elementary School..."

Teacher 2: "I'm Mary Winters, and I teach here in Winterset, Iowa."

Parent 2: "I'm Henry Myers, and my son goes to school here in Harlem, New York..."

Narrator: "This is the People's Voice."

Teacher 1: "You know, our schools are very badly underfunded...very bad. We can barely get access to the internet, get anything for the students. You know, sometimes, I've had to pay for my students' stationery because the parents couldn't afford it, the school couldn't afford it...It's a very, very sad situation...This can't keep going on."

Parent 1: "My son, his school, well, it's a mess. You know, in places like here, in rural places, I read somewhere that they give us a third of the funding that they do the richer places. A third! No wonder my son constantly says to me that there's no AC, that the walls are peeling - sometimes their chairs just break constantly so they have to get new ones from another classroom. Absolute madness."

Teacher 2: "So, you know, school choice. It's a controversial topic. I'm a proud union member, and what I'll say about it is this. The fact is, it's taking money out of public schools. Money that we don't even have. It's hard to scrape money for textbooks, even just for printing out the sheets that my students need on the day-to-day. And now they want to take money out of our schools? I mean, I work, what, 50 hours a week, since I have to plan the lessons and provide extra support? Now, I'm fine doing what I have to for the good of my students, but it's just really disgusting to see how we're not paid for quite a lot of it."

Parent 2: "In my kid's school, you know, the kids, they don't really...they don't get much support. They don't have the resources to provide good extracurriculars, to provide lessons for those kids that need it...You know, my kid, he has problems learning, but the school can't really afford to do more than the bare minimum because they don't have enough money. What I'm seeing, really, is all these good teachers, all these good staff, trying their best, but schools remain underfunded. I mean, it's all just about passing tests now, isn't it? Nothing that'll actually come into the real world...We really need someone to do something about it, we really do..."

Teacher 1: "Yeah, you know, I'd agree. I mean, the thing you have to think about is these conditions...I mean, it's why I support JJ St. Cierge for President. He's the only man in a long time who's called to do something about it - after all, he fought for teachers and our students in Baltimore through calling to tax the rich to help our schools, so I'm sure he'll keep fighting in the White House as a good, honest man."

Teacher 2: "He'll fight against all of that bureaucracy that's been burdening us, that's been preventing us from helping our students, and ensure that we can do as much as we can to help America's future lawyers, future doctors, future workers. His father was a teacher, so I think he knows quite a bit about what America's schools need."

Parent 1: "He would make a great President. He'll fight to make sure that schools get the funding that they require, considering the state that our schools are in."

Parent 2: "It's the future of America we're talking about...the conditions of these kids. I mean, I know lots of kids who don't have that hope, who don't have that spark, and he's the man who'll bring back that spark, who'll cultivate America's next generation. It's time that we invest into our schools, and Jean-Jacques St. Cierge is the man to do just that."

Deborah was seeing less and less of her beloved lakehouse. By that balmy spring afternoon when she finally had a chance to entertain, she summoned her family around, some local Alabama allies and a select few of her top national donors who'd already donated, and those who she desired a few more dollars from. The whale among them was Kenny Northwoods. He was familiar with the Feyrer brand having known the late Mr. Feyrer intimately, and been solicited for his dollars from Deborah herself before. The difference was that she wanted him to do more than donate, he wanted him to help her rake in donors. It was becoming the make or break moment. If she wanted to win the nomination with few scratches and mostly victories under her belt... this was how.

She chose a dark red gown for the evening, as host she needed to outdress her guests somewhat more than usual. Her staff had been preparing for the event throughout the week, while Deborah herself didn't get into town until Saturday morning. At about six in the evening, her family began arriving as she came down the stairs to greet the little ones. By six-thirty, the house was completely ready, the small quartet began playing as Eugene entertained his mother and allowed himself to be dragged into a dance. Deborah smiled slightly more weakly than usual as she noticed a small pang of affection missing in the house she had shared with her late husband. She prevented a tear and instead joined Mae, to allow Sarah Feyrer to join the dancing with her husband. Deborah, holding Mae's hands, who looked adorable in her dress, began dancing with the little one.

Mabel entered the room and Deborah smiled at her, as she nodded with a smile in return.

Deborah clapped twice, and the family dispersed effectively, as the first of the guests had arrived...

"Kenny," she greeted him, "of course, 'nd Laura! Welcome, welcome," Deborah embraced both, giving Laura a peck on the cheek, "go on 'n grab a drink," she gestured over for one of the staff to bring the tray of champagne over, Deborah would return to greeting the next guests before eventually relocating the Northwoods pair before long.

She and Kenny would find time to talk themselves as Laura would be distracted and conversed with by Sarah Feyrer and her husband.

"You haven' been down this way since Reggie, have you?" she asked quietly when the opportunity was presented.

Abigail listened to Deborah as she spoke, nodding along where it made sense to. Admittedly, Abigail had expected the offer to be something of that nature, what with her resumé, and Abigail was very willing to accept it. First of all though, she thought it would be best to get a better understanding.

“Well, I’m certainly grateful for your view on my work, and I’m certainly open to serving as your campaign Press Secretary.” Abigail said, lightly smiling before taking a sip of her own water.

“There is one thing though. As I’m sure you know, much of my work and indeed, my political involvement has been on the… unconventional side of the GOP. I don’t see my appointment to your campaign posing any major issue, but has anything been prepared so far in the event that it does?”

“In all honesty, I’m not particularly anticipating that any issues will come up, I just like to be cautious. Generally, I think the main issue would be me serving as a primary delegate for (Not-Buchanan) back in 1996, but even that is unlikely based on the amount of time and the fact that I doubt I will be particularly prominent in terms of the campaign’s policy development unless called upon.”

This is why we need a gradual withdrawal and to build a plan with diplomats, military officers, and intelligence experts. The goal has to be to help the Iraqi military and police forces to become as independent as possible and help the Iraqis figure out who is going to lead them. There are those who propose a three-state solution, which isn't entirely unreasonable, as during the Ottoman Empire days Iraq was three separate states. It's going to require a lot of research and careful planning. Collaboration is important, unfortunately politicians and government agencies don't do this as well as I'd like.

"Just be sure then," she smiled, "to make clear I ain't no Pat."

*School Bell Rings Sound Effect*
A female teacher stands in front of a classroom and says, "as for our 44th President, what can you tell me about Amadeus Putnam?"
A male student says, "he's from New Hampshire," a female student says "he has a ferret," another student says, "he's the guy with the bow tie right?"
The teacher pulls down a screen and says, we all know that, here's more about him.
A soldier looks at the screen and says "Amadeus Putnam supports our troops by ending these needless wars," he picks up a young girl who says, "he wants to bring daddy home."
Image
A doctor in a hospital says "He is going to de-regulate healthcare to bring options up and costs down."
Image
A lawyer in front of a courthouse says "he's going to appoint originalist judges who believe in the Constitution and Bill of Rights."

Image

A hunter in the woods says, "Amadeus Putnam will protect the rights of gun owners and sportsmen."

Image
A man in a hard hat says, "Amadeus is going to protect my right to work and will keep my taxes down, so I have more for my family." Image
A Hispanic man stands behind a counter in an unspecified small store and says "he is going to help develop small business in our cities, like mine."
A black mother watches her child go into a school and says "he's going to empower parents to send their kids to the school they want." Image
A woman in front of a church holding a baby says "Amadeus Putnam will protect the right to life for all Americans."
Image
A police officer leaning against his car says, "Putnam is going to be just on crime and will implement new and innovative solutions to keep crime down and keep our communities safe."
A man by a mailbox says "Hi is going to lower our energy costs by expanding oil exploration, pursuing green energy, and embracing nuclear power." Image

"The teacher re-emerges and says "people support candidates for all kinds of reasons, but Amadeus Putnam is the kind of candidate that has something to offer for everyone."
Amadeus Putnam walks into the classroom, so he's near the flag and says, "I'm Amadeus Putnam and I approve this message."

Madrinpoor wrote:Tommy thought for a second.

"What do you mean? You just want to know what agendas we're considering?"

“In so many words… yes,” Ben admitted. “All I’m asking is your office keeps me in the loop the same way they would Governor Calalo or Congressman Putnam in the normal course of business. We’re all in the same party, ultimately, and next November, regardless of who wins the nomination, we’re all going to be working together.”

After that, Ben placed a call to SmL Tom Krueger.

And then, to Governor Marc Pender.

And finally, to Senator Shawn Seidel.

Phonebanking

Targeted calls were made, following a script that posed a few questions.

“Hello, I’m ____ and I’m conducting a poll on behalf of Generic Strategy Solutions Consulting. Do you have three minutes to answer some questions about the next Presidential election?”

From there, the scripts deviated:

In South Carolina, Georgia and north Florida:

“Is appointing constitutional, pro-life judges important to you?

“Do you agree that the Mexico City Policy and Hyde Amendments must be upheld to prevent your federal tax dollars funding abortions?

“In light of the recent not-Gonzales v. not-Carhart decision, do you agree that stopping partial birth abortion isn’t enough and the government needs to do more to protect unborn life?

“If you found out that a female Senator running for the Republican nomination had had an abortion when she was younger, would that make you less likely to support her candidacy?”
In Iowa, Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio:

“Would you consider voting for a President who’ll work to cut your taxes?

“Do you think a President who supported a permanent federal repeal of the estate tax would be good for farmers, businesses, and families?

“Instead of raising taxes, should a Presidential candidate support the Taxpayer Protection Pledge and instead slash bloated federal funding in order to balance the budget?

“If you found out that a Midwestern Congressman running for President was planning on raising your taxes and reversing the Cush tax cuts, would that make you less likely to vote for him?”
In New Hampshire, Massachusetts and New York:

“Is it important to you that the next President be tough on crime?

“Do you agree that letting violent drug traffickers out of jail is not the right way to solve the current drug crisis in this country?

“In your opinion, should the most serious crimes carry the possibility of capital punishment?

“If you found out that a northeastern Congressman had, as a public defender, worked to release sexual offenders who’d ended up committing further crimes, would that make you less likely to support their campaign for the Presidency?”
“We have known freedom’s price. We have shown freedom’s power. We will see freedom’s victory.” – George W. Bush

Campaign Schedule
May 18 to June 1 Campaign Schedule
May 18: Bismarck, North Dakota
Cassie briefly popped up to North Dakota for a town hall in Bismarck.

May 19: Miami, Florida
Cassie decided to take a lengthy trip to Florida for the next week or so. Starting in Miami, she held three rallies on the 19th in areas with large Cuban populations. At each one, she spent most of her time bashing communism and Fidel Castro; the first two rallies were one and two hours long respectively. That evening, she held a third rally for three hours attacking Castro and his vision of Cuba as harshly as she could. She also threw in some small attacks at Democratic presidential candidates Baylor and St. Cierge for being “almost communists.” She proudly proclaimed that she embodied anti-communism and that she would like to see Castro’s Cuba replaced with the Cuba of old that flourished prior to communism. Cassie also made sure to have a Spanish translator at ALL EVENTS in Florida as a precautionary measure.

Excerpt: “Though the Evil Empire has fallen, the threat of communism is still very real in many parts of the world. By plane, it takes merely an hour to reach the island nation of Cuba, one of the few places where communist dictators still rule with an iron fist. As President Kennedy said, Freedom is indivisible, and when one man is enslaved, all are not free. When all are free, then we can look forward to that day when this city will be joined as one and this country and this great continent of Europe in a peaceful and hopeful globe. Cuba is enslaved, it is not free. Fidel Castro is a cowardly old man that would rather see the people of Cuba enslaved than be able to work, provide for their families, and live their lives. He is a wretched roach that has merely avoided being crushed under the heel of liberty, a rattlesnake that has yet to be defanged. Fidel Castro has delusions of adequacy and his inferiority complex is fully justified. He’s a war criminal that’s more suited to a prison cell. I am a student of history and José Semidei Rodríguez has inspired me many times over the years. Rodríguez was one of many to fight for Cuba’s independence, and in many ways, those fighting for liberty in Cuba– the and now–embody the ideals of 1776. Allow me to say I stand with the Cuban people yearning to be free and the spirit that cries of ¡Patria o Muerte, Venceremos! ("Homeland or Death, We Shall Overcome!")”

May 20: Miami, Florida
Cassie attended a Methodist church service and joined several members of the congregation for lunch at Cracker Barrel. She attended service at a different church that night, happily being seen out and about rather than campaigning. While attracted to the messages provided, part of Cassie hoped that this would humanize her a bit more in the public eye and make her more “with the people” than some of the other candidates.

May 21: Miami, Florida
Cassie held four town halls across Miami, each one lasting around an hour and a half. She spoke on a variety of issues and also addressed questions about her speeches from the previous day regarding Cuba. Cassie reaffirms her anti-communism stance and pledged that she would work to see the final bastions of communism fall without risking American lives. Cassie also announced that she supported Puerto Rican statehood.

May 22: The Villages, Florida
Cassie went door-to-door with several volunteers to get the word out about her campaign. Due to the age of the population, she and her volunteers focused on family issues, retirement funds, healthcare, and pocketbook issues. Volunteers were also given pamphlets to be handed out to anyone interested in learning more about CHS and the campaign. It included her views on various issues (abortion and the TVA were absent from the pamphlets, thus being a lie of omission) and the link to her website.

Excerpt: “Good afternoon! My name is Cassie Hepburn-Smith, and I am running for president. I support protecting retirement funds, increasing access to healthcare, protecting families, and bringing down the costs of living day-to-day. Here is a pamphlet detailing more of my views; it includes a link to my website. Are there any concerns I can address for you today?”

May 23: The Villages, Florida
Cassie stayed in the Villages; today, she joined a group of seniors at a Bingo game, getting to know a few personally and answering various questions that they had. She answered a question about her electability by pointing to her margin of victory in Virginia, her performance in the most recent GOP debate, and her poll numbers.

May 24: The Villages, Florida
Cassie returned to some of her more usual policies by focusing on competent government and cutting spending (and, by extent, cutting taxes). Cassie listed off a few of the programs that she had planned to cut and added that she was currently drafting a bill that would cut several of them, cut taxes, reduce the deficit, and simplify the taxation process.

May 25: Orlando, Florida
Cassie hopped up to Orlando for her next campaign stop, hosting three town halls lasting two hours each. Cassie emphasized small businesses, simplifying the tax code, and fighting terrorism abroad. At one town hall, Cassie was asked a question about crime; Cassie restated her position on gun reform, arguing that violent criminals and felons had been faced with due process and lost their rights to own firearms. She went on to promise to fight the opioid epidemic and support more training for police officers.

May 26: Jacksonville, Florida
Cassie went to Jacksonville next, leading a group of phone bankers that were making calls across the state. They addressed a myriad of issues, with Cassie herself answering many odd questions that had not come up on the campaign trail thus far– including more than she had expected regarding animal cruelty. I mean, who the hell would be stupid enough to announce they support animal cruelty? It would always come up somewhere, always, no matter who the candidates were. It was insane, really, that the question would come up.

May 27: Redding, California
Having enjoyed the sun, Cassie went westward to spend some more time in it. She attended a church potluck in Redding before attending an evening service in another part of the city.

May 28: Sacramento, California
Cassie traveled to Sacramento, hosting two town halls last two hours each. She spent the entirety of each making opening remarks for about 15 minutes before answering scores of questions for people in the audience.

May 30: San Francisco, California
Entering Martel’s home turf, Cassie went to one of the largest cities in America. Focusing on crime, Cassie emphasized her support for taking guns away from criminals, fighting illegal immigration, and cleaning up the streets and alleyways. She worked to present herself as the anti-crime candidate.

Excerpt: “Joining a gang is like going sky diving without a parachute. Oh, at first it’s all fun, as you take on gravity in a thrilling and exhilarating free fall towards the earth. The truth is anything that is risky and dangerous always starts out as fun. But the odds are always stacked in gravity’s favor, for you will eventually come face to face with the earth, and mother earth always wins those battles. The same thing can be said about being in a gang.”

May 31: Phoenix, Arizona
Cassie went to Arizona next, continuing her anti-crime crusade while tackling illegal immigration. She pressed for finishing the border fence and vowed to do everything she could to secure the Southern border. Cassie also embraced cracking down on heroin, marijuana, and other dangerous and/or illegal drugs; she quoted Barry Goldwater as well, proudly saying, “I offer a choice, not an echo.” Though she knew it was hopeless to think that it would give her an opening among conservatives, she at least thought it reasonable to say that a few– a very precious few– might appreciate it down the road.

June 1: Mason City, Iowa
Cassie went back to Iowa, leading a town hall before leading phone banking efforts that covered the state. Rather than focusing solely on policy, however, the campaign began to shift to look for small-time donations. Rather than focus mostly on the big-time donors, Cassie and DUrant (her campaign manager) wanted to see if aiming for additional funds from individuals would do better in the long run than running a typical GOP campaign.
