There's more to a sim than the docket. Check out the IC every now and again. Or the debates.

Character Application and Information Sheet

NS Nation Name: Jovuistan
Character Name: Marc Pender
Character Gender: Male
Character Age: 59
Character Height: 6'1"
Character Weight: 197 lbs
Character Position/Role/Job: Governor of Texas (2003-present), Attorney General of Texas (1999-2003), Member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Texas' 8th Congressional District (1993-1999), Solicitor General of the United States (1985-1989)
Character Country/State of Birth: Texas
Character State of Residence: Texas
Character Party Affiliation: Republican
Faceclaim: Barnaby Joyce
Main Strengths: High name recognition as a Reagan official, (not-Clinton) impeachment Congressman, and Governor of a major state, loyal conservative base, savvy, humble upbringing, passionate
Main Weaknesses: Mixed record as Governor, history of alleged racism, lack of filter, stubborn, toxic to left-leaning voters
Biography: The Pender family had spent generations living a farm life near Beaumont, Texas. Marc Pender, for his part, was born on January 24th, 1949, and from a young age, he despised being stuck in a rural backwater. When he wasn't done farm jobs with the family, he spent his time reading books and newspapers. As America shifted into an era of great change in the sixties, Marc felt he deserved a role to play at the front of the American story. In particular, he viewed Democrats as weak agains the red menace and became a big fan of Goldwater's firebrand style of politics. Especially in light of what he saw as far-left trampling of the constitution, Marc became invested in becoming more politically and legally involved.

Marc, for all his good grades, was known to be a bit of a bully and fighter in school, being suspended at one point for getting into a brawl with a fellow student. Despite that, he was able to graduate and worked enough oddjobs to be able to be the first member of his family to attend college, staying close to home by enrolling in Lamar University in Beaumont. Studying political science, Marc put his school in a bit of controversy after he appeared among other residents in a local news segment reacting to the King Riots. He expressed his outrage at the behavior of the rioters, calling out "an army of blacks with nothing in their brains but shooting, looting, and burning." and claiming that the riots were an attack on America and her values. He was investigated for these comments, but the University President looked upon his views favorably and was able to push for only a light punishment.

With that out of the way, Marc graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts, and decided to fully pursue becoming a lawyer by enrolling in Texas Law at UT Austin. While there, he was a writer for the Texas Law Review and became a notable and hard-working student on the campus. He obtained his Juris Doctor magna cum laude in 1975. His first stint as a lawyer was serving as a law clerk for Judge James P. Coleman on the Court of Appeals Fifth Circuit, whom the young Marc got along well with. A year later, he became a clerk for Homer Thornberry.

Following his time as a clerk, Marc entered government service by working in the Civil Division of the Department of Justice in 1978. A few years later in 1981, President Reagan promoted him to Assistant Attorney General of the division, and finally, he was appointed Solicitor General of the United States in 1985. He argued dozens of cases on behalf of the government to the Supreme Court, including Bowsher v. Synar, Bowen v. Kendrick, Webster v. Reproductive Health Services, among others. He would leave the position in 1989, and began seeking private practice.

With John Parnell, a friend and co-worker of his in the Department of Justice, he moved to The Woodlands, Texas, and founded Parnell & Pender PLLC, focusing on constitutional, commercial, and civil rights litigation. He notably argued before the Supreme Court in support of Lee in the Lee v. Weisman case. In 1992, with Cush Sr. slipping into unpopularity and (not-Clinton) on the rise, Marc became horrified at the possibility of such a promiscuous liberal running the White House. Thus, his experience in the Reagan administration allowed him to easily secure the nomination in Texas' 8th Congressional District, winning handily in the gerrymandered seat.

In the House, Marc became well-known as a staunch cultural and economic conservative and nationalist, being a proud co-sponsor of Don't Ask Don't Tell, a strong opponent of the Brady Bill, and voted against NAFTA, all in his first term. His ideals and fighter persona went over well with his largely Republican constituents, and he was easily re-elected time after time. He became a good friend of (not-Gingrich) and was arguably one of the most established figures outside of Congressional leadership. He was also noted as an architect of the Federal Agriculture Improvement and Reform Act of 1996 and was a big proponent of the numerous government shutdowns orchestrated by (not-Gingrich).

With the incumbent Democrat retiring, Texas Attorney General was up for grabs, and the Republicans saw Marc as someone who could rally them to victory. Marc, for his part, was beginning to become annoyed by Congress and took the Party's offer to run for the open position. After a hard-fought jungle primary against an Associate Justice of the state Supreme Court, Marc's strong campaigning was able to secure him a narrow victory in the race. With Texas a solid red state, he was able to win the general election and became the first Republican-elected Attorney General of Texas since Reconstruction. As he transitioned from one job to another, Marc gained national attention as he argued the case for (not-Clinton)'s impeachment during proceedings, calling for the President to be removed from office immediately for his moral failings and lying to the American people.

Attorney General Pender's tenure was largely defined by cracking down on government waste and corruption, particularly through his investigations into fraudulent Medicare and Medicaid claims. He also created the Texas Internet Bureau to investigate illegal internet practices. His time in office, however, would be met with controversy as he was blasted by civil rights groups for refusing to investigate a false drug bust and drug convictions in Tulia of 46 individuals, of which 43 were black.

The seat of the Governor of Texas was opened up in 2002, and Marc, seeking more power and influence, announced his candidacy early. While the drug bust scandal harmed his campaign, he was still able to use his name recognition and large conservative base to win the primary, and used the favorable midterm year to his advantage to win the general election with 55% of the vote.

His first term as Governor was defined for his tough-on-crime stance and his efforts to support businesses and cut down on big government. One of his first major policies was the creation of the Texas Enterprise Fund, which provided hundreds of millions of dollars in grants to Texas businesses. He cut taxes for corporations and Texans, although he faced criticism for doing so while Texas dealt with growing debt problems. His government resorted to borrowing money to pay for the Trans-Texas Corridor. He signed a bill that restricted non-economic damages in medical malpractice judgments and supported bills limiting abortion access. He was criticized for refusing to order a stay on the execution of Cameron Todd Willingham, being a staunch supporter of the death penalty. He also caused controversy by supporting and campaigning for Texas Proposition 2 in 2005, which defined marriage as only between one man and one woman.

Coupled with a Democratic wave year and several controversies, Marc faced a far more difficult re-election campaign in 2006. Facing opposition from three different candidates, he was only able to secure a win of 40% of the vote on election night, a small scare for Republicans in the state. Now in 2007 with the next presidential election heating up, Governor Pender was thought to be a potential candidate for the Republican nomination. He however declined, saying he wished to remain Governor of his state for several more years. Currently, he privately favors either Helms or Feyrer for the nomination, but things can change fast in the world of politics, and whatever happens, Marc hopes that he can use his position to have a say in the future of his party.

Character Application and Information Sheet

NS Nation Name: Hanovereich
Character Name: George S. Walker
Character Gender: M
Character Age: 50
Character Height: 175cm
Character Weight: 68kg
Character Position/Role/Job:
Governor of Louisiana (2006-)
Department of State Policy Advisor (2004)
Louisiana State Senator (1994-2002)
Ensign, ONI, US Navy (1983-1987)
CSIS Policy Advisor (1982) (1988-1994) (2003)

Character Country/State of Birth: Louisiana
Character State of Residence: Louisiana
Character Party Affiliation: Democrat
Main Strengths: Can rely on support and funding from richer and more urban people; calm under pressure; can connect with the young
Main Weaknesses: Has little support among the minorities and rural areas; poor public speaker; supports the unpopular War on Terror (although, since taking the governorship, he has tried to avoid talking about it)
Biography: George Spencer Walker was born in New Orleans to Henry Walker, a naval officer, and Sienna Walker, a clerk for Hugo Black. Henry was in the Navy as a Lieutenant Commander in the Pacific Fleet, and had been in the Battle of Okinawa on USS Idaho, gaining the Purple Heart for injuries sustained when a fire broke out on the bow of the ship. The family was relatively popular in their community, and rich enough to send George to Yale. He originally was interested in computer and information studies, but eventually gained a degree in international relations and affairs.

After leaving university in 1982, he worked briefly for the CSIS think tank, before following in his father's footsteps and joining the Navy in the Office of Naval Intelligence. He received the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal for intelligence collection service in Operation Earnest Will. He was on the USS Stark when it was hit by two Exocet missiles in May 1987, getting injuries to his right arm, and was discharged that same year. After leaving the Navy, he, supported by his father, entered politics and entered the 1988, 1990 and 1992 Democrat Louisiana State Senate primaries, in vain. During this time, he went back to the CSIS as a foreign policy advisor. Finally, in 1994, he gained the nomination for the 14th State Senate district, and won.

As Senator, he drafted a strict State Senate bill on the National Guard, which caused some local media attention for increasing the National Guard budget by over 60%- something which gave him a name recognition boost. He also advocated for the Iraq War, and, after 9/11, the War in Afghanistan.

On 9/11, George was one of the first in Louisiana to publicly advocate a war on terror, and made a State Senate speech declaring that "Terror must not, cannot and will not govern America." He also drew on his CSIS and ONI experience to observe that "If they can destroy the heart of what is America, they are ready to fight us, in their homeland and in ours."

In 2002, he announced that he was not going to stand, and hinted that he may go for the gubernatorial election. He briefly worked for CSIS again, and became a policy advisor to the Department of State on the Middle East, before returning to politics in the Democrat gubernatorial primaries in 2006. He had the backing of many of his colleagues in the State Legislature, and the urban and rich population centred in the cities; however, he spent a lot of time in the rural areas and tried to connect with the minorities. He was on a platform of increased social programs, and cutting down on bureaucracy. He supported LGBTQ rights. which was one of his more popular platforms, but advocated for more security- which, in the eyes of the people, meant less privacy (and George stressed strongly that he was not advocating for less privacy, but more security, and that those two were different things). He also planned to strengthen the State Police.

He won the primaries for Governor with 54.29%, and the gubernatorial with 52.8%, having the highest majorities in the urban areas. His majority was so slim partly because of his support for the War on Terror.

Since taking office, he has tried to get a start on his policies. He has also approved a $210 million relief bill for Hurricane Katrina. Other measures, including some controversial privacy-related ones, are rumoured to be planned, and the latest opinion polls give him only a 5-point lead over the Republicans.

Other Info: He identifies himself as a New Democrat.

He supports gay marriage, and supports gender-affirming care as a medical operation like any other; i.e not mandatory to cover.

Maybe just pro-civil union? Gender-affirming care in 2007 wasn't a super hot button topic, most people just disagreed with it, I believe.

I understand. It’s not supposed to be a presidential RP, but getting congress off the ground has been really tough since an admin dropped out due to irl reasons, the RP is incredibly small ( :( ) which means that there is a limited number of congressmen, and…idrk, I don’t know why congress is so sleepy. I’m sorry, we are working on that I promise.

Does that mean you’re leaving?

Fear not, working on a potential president pro tempore* of the Senate (If the honor is allowed to me). Congress won't be inactive for long.

*pro tempore emeritus, unless Reps gain control.

Rep. Amadeus Putnam would like to request an interview with a moderator. He would like to go on a softer show with his wife, Dr. Kenzie Putnam. I will post a profile for Kenzie Putnam before the interview.

Biography: (Minimum 2-3 paragraphs)
Kenzie Putnam had a relatively normal childhood and was relatively well-liked through school, although tended to avoid the usual social circles and hung out with more outcast types and intellectuals. She attended Tufts University Undergrad where she studied psychology, she enrolled in grad school at Boston University where she met Amadeus Putnam at a speaking engagement where he was promoting his ideas on stoicism. She attended his book signing and speech to challenge him, arguing that stoicism was just about suppressing emotions. Instead, Amadeus Putnam took a long patient interaction with her and gave her a signed copy of his book and clipped his business card to the front page and encouraged her to contact him. This resulted in a lengthy correspondence where he persuaded her toward his views on stoicism, politics, economics, government, and religion. This eventually grew into a more romantic relationship. Amadeus Putnam stated he had no interest in pre-marital intercourse with her early on, this initially disappointed Kenzie, but she agreed to her first relationship without intercourse, which she found actually very pleasant. She even began attending religious services and political conferences with Amadeus. The two were married within the next several years. Kenzie’s study of psychology lead her to believe that Amadeus had Asperger’s Syndrome and she tested him, his IQ was 138, but his diagnosis has been kept a secret. Prior to her interactions with Putnam, Kenzie was a relatively typical young woman, she was liberal, irreligious, not a virgin, and had used recreational marijuana. She since has changed her mindsets, but is typically seen as more normal and approachable than Amadeus. Kenzie has a PhD in clinical psychology and now teaches psychology as a tenured professor at Franklin Pierce University and practices clincal psychology otherwise.
Since then Kenzie has earned her PhD and three children, Thomas Aquinas (8), Dagny (6), and Artemis (2) have since been born. They have two pet ferrets, Amadeus named his "Outlaw" which he felt was a great "brash libertarian" name and homage to the fact that ferrets are illegal to own in Washington, DC. Kenzie named her ferret, Luna, in part because of adopting her on the night of the full moon, but also as homage to Luna Lovegood, a fictional character of whom she is fond.

Character Application and Information Sheet

NS Nation Name: Jovuistan
Character Name: Chad Thundercock
Character Gender: Male
Character Age: 36
Character Height: 6'11"
Character Weight: 256 lbs
Character Position/Role/Job: U.S. Senator from Massachusetts (2001-Present)
Character Country/State of Birth: Chad
Character State of Residence: Massachusetts
Character Party Affiliation: Republican
Faceclaim: Calvin Reed
Main Strengths: Young, attractive, energetic, smart, charming, fiery, god speaker, good debater, best Doctor in Massachusetts, rich, popular, inspiring upbringing, military background, bipartisan adoration, electoral success
Main Weaknesses: Unfriendly with the establishment, lacks support from the establishment, enemy of the establishment
Biography: Chad Thundercock was born in the slums of Chad, his parents being massacred by terrorists when he was two years old. His grandparents took him in and they escaped to America with no money and without knowing English. Chad, being the great kid he was, learned the language quickly and was able to attend school, where he earned insanely good grades, the best in the class. He became politically involved after he witnessed his best friend get run over by a communist liberal, becoming a staunch Republican afterwards.

When he graduated high school America was bombing the shit out of Iraq, so he decided to go bomb the shit out of Iraq too. He joined the air force and quickly became an ace flyer and soldier, blowing up terrorists and racking up over a thousand confirmed kills. He received multiple medals of honor for his efforts, becoming a legend in the military. When he left Iraq he studied to become a Doctor. He was soon the best Doctor in Massachusetts, and that led to him getting ready for his political career when he had another fated encounter with the communist liberal, who had run over 14 people, all of whom Chad saved by being the best Doctor in Massachusetts.

On the side Chad started a very successful business, becoming very rich. He ran for Senate in Massachusetts against a popular Democrat, and shocked the world when he won with over 70% of the vote due to his charm and the people's desire for change. He is a very popular Senator who has opposed radical liberal policies such as CRT, Disney groomers, and blacks, earning the affection of the Massachusetts people as his ideas were very popular and still are.

Members of Congress are considering amending the constitution to allow Chad to run for President, as he would easily crush any opposition.

Just wanna mention I find stuff like this really poor RP etiquette.

Having characters with psychic knowledge of events yet to pass. It'd be like a Democrat warning about gaps in gun control law on April 15.

I'd say it'd make sense on April 15 given Lincoln was shot on the 14 and died on the 15, have some sort of callback. As for the bridge, I'd written down the wrong year. It happens.

Even that level of foresight is not really credible. There were thousands of bridges rated deficient and she happens to pick the one that will indeed collapse in three months?

My proposal is, the admins should have that bridge not collapse IC. That removes any ability to use the meta, but the basic point about infrastructure funding stands.

If you mean that specific bridge, sure. Otherwise, unless the GOP spontaneously has a heart for spending without explaining why, the next president is probably going to have at least 2 bridge collapses, probably more, during a two-term period.
