Born in Juneau, Alaska In 1969, to Mary Baker-Albescu, who was born within the same City, and to his native Romanian Father, Costin Albescu, who had fled Communist-ruled Romania at the age of 17. His mother was 23 when she had Alex, and Costin was 27 and left his native country at the age of 17 in 1959 left the Capital city to go to the Land of the Free and Opportunity in Alaska. Though his mother had wanted more children, his father had refused to have another, suggesting his numerous low-paying jobs during his infancy wouldn't pay the bills for multiple children.

At the age of 12, he would gain an immediate interest in Basketball and would join the School's team. Between 12 - 14, Alex would become a promising player due to tall height at that age, and at 14 would go and play for Alaska Fairbanks' Youth Team at that age. However, his lack of skill on the ball and his lack of movement off-ball would lead to humbling cut 9 months later, with him going from one of the tallest member on the team to being fairly average height in the team. However, his love for Basketball wouldn't fade, and would continue to go for try-outs at the Youth Team until 16, which would be unsuccessful. However, by 16, Alex was a fairly bright student, focusing an academic studies of History and English Literature. This would lead to him at 18 going to the University of Alaska South-East, and would be studying Political Science. It was his time at College which would see his political views mould in.

It is believed Alexander's views were moulded by two factors, his Professor and his friends. His professor was a fairly moderate man in a political sense, belleving in mild conservatism. His views would transform over to Alex, who would, in addition to the classes, attend events held by the Democratic Party. However, his shift over to the Republican Side would occur after he would have a seat under a local council in a town near Campus. This was were he developed an idea of moderate conservatism, and his time spent at the council, in which was between 1988 - 1992. However, his political ambition would go further than local council, and would join the Republican Party in 1993. Between 1994 - 1998, he would join the council of the capital, in which was Republican-Controlled. It was in 96' in which Alexander would befriend the Mayor and would quickly have a lot of influence in the Judaea's Local Councils. He would push bills to support families, swell as using his long bands of influence to prevent certain motions going into place. It was 1998 in which would resign and would then prepare for even more ambitious areas, Governor of Alaska.

Alexander went for the Governor role twice, in 1998, when he would lose in the Primaries to another Republican Candidate. However, it was a surprise to seem him make it to the last 4 for Alaska, seemingly the youngest candidate. He would quickly prepare for 2000, where it was the mid-terms. Though he wasn't backed by much, a few former council members, his major backing was former Mayor of Juneau, though he was unsuccessful once more. However, he would make it to the Last 2, where he would lose in a tight vote. However, these string of progress allowed him the political backing by former members to go for the 2004 Election. The reasoning for not taking part in 2002 was due to his financial and political preparation for 2004. He would receive backing from Former Mayors, and coming up to 2004, he would have the backing of the Party for the House of Representatives in the 2004 Election.

2004 went just as was expected. Winning the primaries with ease, his balanced, youthful and "Liberal Conservatism" in which promised the backing of everyone. His slogan for the election was "Conservative Thinking, Liberal Acting". Many saw the slogan as implying his moderate view. However, him winning as a HOR could be a backstabber. Though his balanced and people-pleasing approach to politics would win him a seat in HOR, his actions wouldn't be at all Republican. Alaska had never been a strong-, right-wing state like Texas, yet, he would work almost as both a Republican and Democrat. Though this allowed changes to go much smoother, this would see the Republicans make him untrustworthy, and make him unpopular in the parties more radical and right-wing areas. He wouldn't support the War on Terror, attempting to vote against implications. However, 2006 would see him comfortably due to his pushing of several changes in his area of Alaska. His 2006 victory wasn't a shock, however, many believe between now and 2008, he will attempt to shift the power onto the Democrats, suggesting not only a change of heart in parties, but an ambition to become Governor, as a democrat.

Known as "The Swinger" in the Republican Party, the next two years could be crucial for Republicans in Alaska, and Democrats, with a power-hungry. ambitious and youthful Representative, who may stop at nothing to get power. Some may even argue he is a "Career Politician".

His views are often considered very moderate by Republicans, and some of his views are similar or the same to some democrats. Since his introduction to Politics, he has been an advocate for "Abortion for a Reason", in which suggests to ban any abortion in which has a weak/no justification. Despite him in his early years being Anti-Gun, suggesting an all-out ban to Assault Rifles and Automatic Rifles, like moderate republicans and all democrats, Alex changed to wanting an increase to the age of 25+, to have had specific number of hours on the said weapon, all in all, wanting more strict gun control, though not the ban of Assault Weapons and Automatics. Once more, Alex's views has changed dramatically on the War On Terror. Since the operation began after 9/11, he was a supporter of the 2001 invasion of Afghanistan, however, wasn't a supporter of the 2003 Invasion of Iraq, believing Iraq didn't have weapons of mass destruction and that Hessian's reign was to come to an end. Despite his Whip in 2003 pushing him to vote yes to Invasion of Iraq, yet he was one of few who was Republican who voted against the war in Iraq in 2003. He believes in low taxes, though in recent years since 2002, has wanted an increase to corporation tax.

The idea of "Conservative Thinking, Liberal Acting" is one of the quotes situated with Alex. Critics of Mr Baker-Albescu have said that he is making the image that he is a conservative to please Alaskan Republicans and Republicans across the country, but truly believes in Liberal Conservatism, a moderate form which combines the ideas of liberalism and conservatism together. Many see that he went for the Republicans not because he as a Republican, but only because he saw it as a quicker and a better chance at getting power.

Known as "The Swinger" in the Republican Party, the next two years could be crucial for Republicans in Alaska, and Democrats, with a power-hungry. ambitious and youthful Representative, who may stop at nothing to get power. Some may even argue he is a "Career Politician".

Main Strengths: Douglass is a well established figure within his district and has the support of his popular predecessor. It would be extremely difficult to challenge him in the primary and the makeup in the district would mean that losing to a Republican opponent in the general is almost impossible. Douglass is also young, well educated, and has plenty of experience organizing and public speaking through the the AME Church.
Main Weaknesses: While Douglass has a strong support in the local community, his positions has made him the enemy of some powerful national groups. Douglass’ support of school choice and opposition to powerful teacher’s unions has led him to lose support from a powerful left-leaning union. At the same time, his commitment for police reform has put him in opposition to the powerful right-leaning police unions. As of now, Douglass is also a single man with no kids, which is sometimes looked at with suspicion.

Jordan grew up in the Church. Many of his earliest memories are of him and his father, a Bishop of the local Morris Brown AME Church in Charleston, SC, going to Church together. Whether it be after school to do his homework, or on Sundays for service. While is father instilled within him a love of God, Jordon’s mother gifted him the appreciation of a good education. As school teacher, Jordan’s mother constantly reminded him of the importance of school. She helped him with his homework, constantly checked in on his grades, and even struck up friendships with a few of Jordan’s teachers as he grew up. While Jordan would spend most of his childhood resenting the constant involvement of his mother, he began to appreciate her commitment during high school. While Jordan was on the honor roll and getting scholarships to colleges across the country, many of his old friends were getting involved in gangs in the community.

Jordan was able to get a full scholarship to Howard University and started his freshmen year of college in 1990. There, he studied political science and economics. While an active member of the church and community organizations during his youth, Jordan’s time in college is what really sparked his interest in politics. He volunteered for multiple campaigns, and even became an intern for Congressman John Clyne, a prominent politician in the House of Representatives who was friends with his father.

After college, Jordan moved asked to Charleston and started working in the Church. He quickly rose to a leadership position, becoming a deacon and leading various organizations within the Church including the youth ministry, center of education, and the social justice organizations. His work in the church meant that he became a well known figure to many organizations and community activists within the community. He is known as Reverend Douglass to those who know him within and outside of the Church.

At the request of his old boss, Congressman Clyne, he took a break from his work in the church and became a senior advisor for Clyne. Clyne knew that his health was taking a serious downturn and wanted to informally appoint a successor for his position. To Clyne, Jordan seemed like the obvious choice due to his youth, involvement in the community, and social activism. Jordan worked for Clyne for two years before Clyne announced his retirement ahead of the 2004 election. Quickly after, Jordan announced his candidacy to replace Clyne as the representative for South Carolina’s sixth district. The endorsement from Rep. Clyne meant that he was able to easily defeat his one primary opponent and the make up of the district meant that the Rev. Douglass swept the general election (65-34).

As a freshmen Congressman, Rev. Douglass focused on education and police reform efforts.

Biography:

Upton Robert Fleming was born to Judith Fleming (nee Moore) and Harold Fleming In Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. His mother was among a select few women who worked at NASA on the Apollo program, the year before moving to Philadelphia with her husband as newly weds as both of them received offers to work in Pennsylvania in higher education, Judith in teaching mathematics and Harold is developmental economics. In addition to career advancement, their new better paying jobs would also allow them to live in a minority-majority suburban neighborhood in late 1969. Having educated parents, a bright mind and living in an affluent community, it was none too difficult for him to not only do well in school, but vigorously pursue extracurricular activities, sports and volunteering included, primarily through catholic organizations due to his religious upbringing. His political awakening truly began when he attended a Jesse Jackson campaign speech in a Philadelphia church in 1984, which spoke of the need to unite and mobilize young people and minorities.

He would graduate as a valedictorian in high school, graduating at 16 before earning a scholarship to the University of Pennsylvania, but intending to go down the path of a military career, he decided to enroll in the NAVY ROTC program. From the first year he began flight training with the goal of becoming a fighter pilot. Meanwhile, he pursued a political science degree with a minor in engineering, followed by a law degree he'd work on through his service.

He’d end up serving on the USS Theodore Roosevelt where he would end up meeting Talise Mabus, one of the first female fighter pilots in US history, and ending up in a relationship with which meant leaving a relationship with an African-American woman he had been dating from high school to college. He'd marry Talise in 1994, a marriage established in mutual political advancement almost as much as personal love. While married he'd serve around three more years in active duty, most notably during the intervention against Bosnian Serbs.

After transferring to the naval reserve in 1997, Upton would run for Philadelphia District Attorney, promising to bring military discipline to the fight against crime. Over the next four years, he’d aggressively promote his actions as contributing to a decreasing crime rate, raising his profile as the homicide rate continued to descend. His mode of operation included aggressively pursuing the harshest possible prison sentences against hard drug manufacturing and dealers. He’d win re-election to district attorney easily and rumors began to swirl about his being a potential candidate for the 2002 Pennsylvania gubernatorial election to replace the term limited Republican Governor. He announced his run early in 2002, running a campaign emphasizing both his tough on crime record and, to many observers, surprisingly liberal orientation on economics, even as he supported bi-partisan proposals like simplifying public programs, promoting movement towards land value taxes and backing employee stock ownership plans. He also cautiously tapped into an abortion skeptical vein among older African American voters and a critical number of white Catholics, while seeking a big donor constituency of Real estate developers and the construction industry. He’d manage to win the Democratic race in a field split by three notable candidates, securing 39% the primary vote with a strong showing in Philadelphia and its surrounding suburbs, but a noticeable weakness in rural Pennsylvania.

In addition to emphasizing his record on crime in Philadelphia, he would spend his campaign promising to lower sales taxes, introduce progressivity to state income taxes and support a process to replace property taxes in the state with land value taxes to promote land development and punish vacant land ownership. He'd go on to win the general election by 5 points, primarily hampered by poor performance in rural counties, but aided by very strong urban support and solid suburban backing.

In office, his first legislative production was the Pennsylvania of Tomorrow program, which was meant to significantly lower sales taxes and increase education funding by shifting over to a more progressive state income tax, along with a variety of 'sin' taxes on beer, cigarettes and gambling. Looking to find a way to secure revenue through utilities taxes, the plan also called for a small tax on electricity generation that was weighted by carbon emissions, partially in an attempt to promote nuclear energy. The program also called for the phase out and replacement of both state and local property taxes in Pennsylvania with land value taxes, starting with a complete moratorium on new property taxes within municipalities. Lastly the bill included putting the Pennsylvania state Treasurer, an office held by a Republican in charge of an project called 'Pennsylvania Solidarity', which would exist to provide advice and aid to businesses in Pennsylvania to implement ESOP plans for their employees, support agricultural cooperatives and promote credit union membership as local alternatives to national conglomerates.

After negotiations with the republican controlled legislature, Upton was able to secure smaller versions of all of his priorities, with the exception of the property tax/land value tax transition, which went through without modifications. Upton would go on to reform government procurement in Pennsylvania through the creation of the Office of Administration and Efficiency, which would seek to factor in recirculated tax revenue in its’ procurement decisions, leading to an increase in business for Pennsylvania from the state government and net improvements to the Pennsylvania budget of around a billion dollars by the end of his first term. As part of his tough on crime approach, he also support laws intended to move towards a requirement for all prisoner's to either work or train for work during their prison term, even at the expense of bending to a republican legislature that wished aimed to increase prison privatization.


In 2004, due to an effective campaign in a low profile race during a presidential election year, his wife Talise was able to secure a landslide victory for the state treasury, even getting inroads into rural Pennsylvania. She went quickly to work using the full breadth of powers provided through the Pennsylvania Solidarity project, leading to significant expansion of ESOPs, coops and credit unions in the state.

In 2005, when the discussion of social security reform in Washington D.C. went into full swing, Upton weighed in by suggesting that he’d be supportive of having the social security trust fund transition its assets into index funds and away from non-marketable securities, alongside lifting the cap on FICA and SECA contributions. The former parts of these comments would be interpreted by some as endorsement of a partial privatization of social security, which caused some dissension in the ranks among progressives in the state democratic party. This triggered the creation of a tongue in cheek campaign by the activist left to draft his wife, Talise, perceived as more left wing, to run for governor in 2006. Talise would end up converting this energy into an announcement of her intention to run for the United States Senate in 2006.

The humorous campaign would, instead, morph into a very serious campaign to draft the 2002 Green Party candidate to run against Upton in the upcoming primaries, who was originally reluctant to do so due to feeling that there was a lack of infrastructure to support a campaign. He quickly gained support from some factions of the Pennsylvania democratic party that opposed Upton, primarily those on the right and localist leaning parts of the party, feeling that while he was in theory closer to their views, the challenger, or the Republican nominee, would be easier to pull in their direction once in office than Upton.

Despite an impressive campaign for someone who was a third party candidate in the election cycle before, Upton won a decisive victory in the primaries, though it was notably much smaller than his own wife’s senate primary victory. Both, however, would go on to win their general election victory in November with around ~60% of the popular vote, as more center and left leaning voters were drawn to vote for Talise and Upton by the other respectively, in addition to riding the 2006 blue wave. The election victory would do much to undermine organized opposition to Upton in the Pennsylvania Democratic Party, particularly when his election victory saw the end of his team's attempts to squash speculation that he was planning to run for President for 2008. State Democrats coveted the chance to have the first black president come from the state whose only other native born president was the man who let America fall into civil war, James Buchanan.

Come new years, 2007, news of an exploratory committee to run for a Upton Fleming run would come out, allowing him to draw some national media to his inauguration speech on January 21st, where he lay out all that he had accomplished in his previous term as Governor of Pennsylvania, before laying out his agenda for the future in terms that were very much nationally applicable, with the promise that specifics would be saved for his February budget address to the state General Assembly.

On March 1st, 2007 he’d officially launch his presidential campaign.

The election victories here are significantly toned down to be at around the average national democrat numbers of the given year to account for the fair possibility that Upton would do worse than Ed Rendell. Given that the RL 2006 republican nominee was a black football player, and given that he performed only ~5 points worse than the 2002 candidate, in a year that republicans did ~13 points worse nationally, I think a black veteran with a tough on crime record could perform at least this well. The inspirations here are Bill Clinton and Barack Obama, except a veteran and committed to building a political force inside of Democratic party to the left of the New Democrats/Democratic Leadership Council types, but just as professionalized.

At a time when despite pursuing an education in finance, Hyatt was a solid new deal democrat. They'd marry soon after graduation and move for work in Philadelphia. Between her mother working in political campaigns and her father working in finance, both would grow increasingly alienated from the left and shift to the right, both due to their careers and the leftward shift of the grass roots of the democratic party, particularly on foreign policy. By the time Talise was born, she would be afforded a very affluent lower upper class life, especially since her father had inherited land from his that had natural gas on it, which he then sold as start up cash for an investment firm.

Early life, military service and education

Jack Claassen was born in Chicago in 1943, the 4th of 7 children of Perry Claassen, an aviation factory worker, and Roslyn, a clothing store clerk. He is a 6th generation Tennessean and in 1950 the family moved back to Elizabethton to run a gas station, where he would work pumping gas over summers. He attended Elizabethton High School, where he played basketball and baseball, and was a Life Scout. He was raised a Catholic in deference to his mother’s belief, though he now attends a Baptist church.

He attended Christian Brothers University on an NROTC scholarship, initially hoping to become a naval aviator, but failed selection and was instead commissioned as an infantry officer with 2nd Battalion, 9th Marines. He served for five years, including tours of Vietnam. After leaving as a Captain, he returned to Tennessee and enrolled in the University of Tennessee College of Law, graduating with a J.D. in 1972. He became a lawyer and entered private practice.

State government

In 1980 he was elected to the Tennessee House of Representatives, serving two terms. He sat on the Finance, Ways and Means committee. In 1984 he was elected to the Tennessee Senate, representing Carter County. He served three terms in the Senate, becoming the Assistant Minority Leader. He was the author of Tennessee’s revised abortion statute that adopted a parental notification provision.

His political awakening truly began when he attended a Jesse Jackson campaign speech in a Philadelphia church in 1984, which spoke of the need to unite and mobilize young people and minorities.

He would graduate as a valedictorian in high school, graduating at 16 before earning a scholarship to the University of Pennsylvania, but intending to go down the path of a military career, he decided to enroll in the NAVY ROTC program. The program also called for the phase out and replacement of both state and local property taxes in Pennsylvania with land value taxes, starting with a complete moratorium on new property taxes within municipalities. Lastly the bill included putting the Pennsylvania state Treasurer, an office held by a Republican in charge of an project called 'Pennsylvania Solidarity', which would exist to provide advice and aid to businesses in Pennsylvania to implement ESOP plans for their employees, support agricultural cooperatives and promote credit union membership as local alternatives to national conglomerates.

After negotiations with the republican controlled legislature, Upton was able to secure smaller versions of all of his priorities, with the exception of the property tax/land value tax transition, which went through without modifications. Upton would go on to reform government procurement in Pennsylvania through the creation of the Office of Administration and Efficiency, which would seek to factor in recirculated tax revenue in its’ procurement decisions, leading to an increase in business for Pennsylvania from the state government and net improvements to the Pennsylvania budget of around a billion dollars by the end of his first term. As part of his tough on crime approach, he also support laws intended to move towards a requirement for all prisoner's to either work or train for work during their prison term, even at the expense of bending to a republican legislature that wished aimed to increase prison privatization.


In 2004, due to an effective campaign in a low profile race during a presidential election year, his wife Talise was able to secure a landslide victory for the state treasury, even getting inroads into rural Pennsylvania. Come new years, 2007, news of an exploratory committee to run for a Upton Fleming run would come out, allowing him to draw some national media to his inauguration speech on January 21st, where he lay out all that he had accomplished in his previous term as Governor of Pennsylvania, before laying out his agenda for the future in terms that were very much nationally applicable, with the promise that specifics would be saved for his February budget address to the state General Assembly.

On March 1st, 2007 he’d officially launch his presidential campaign.

The election victories here are significantly toned down to be at around the average national democrat numbers of the given year to account for the fair possibility that Upton would do worse than Ed Rendell. Given that the RL 2006 republican nominee was a black football player, and given that he performed only ~5 points worse than the 2002 candidate, in a year that republicans did ~13 points worse nationally, I think a black veteran with a tough on crime record could perform at least this well. Biography:

Upton Robert Fleming was born to Judith Fleming (nee Moore) and Harold Fleming In Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. His mother was among a select few women who worked at NASA on the Apollo program, the year before moving to Philadelphia with her husband as newly weds as both of them received offers to work in Pennsylvania in higher education, Judith in teaching mathematics and Harold is developmental economics. In addition to career advancement, their new better paying jobs would also allow them to live in a minority-majority suburban neighborhood in late 1969. Having educated parents, a bright mind and living in an affluent community, it was none too difficult for him to not only do well in school, but vigorously pursue extracurricular activities, sports and volunteering included, primarily through catholic organizations due to his religious upbringing. His political awakening truly began when he attended a Jesse Jackson campaign speech in a Philadelphia church in 1984, which spoke of the need to unite and mobilize young people and minorities.

He would graduate as a valedictorian in high school, graduating at 16 before earning a scholarship to the University of Pennsylvania, but intending to go down the path of a military career, he decided to enroll in the NAVY ROTC program. From the first year he began flight training with the goal of becoming a fighter pilot. Meanwhile, he pursued a political science degree with a minor in engineering, followed by a law degree he'd work on through his service.

He’d end up serving on the USS Theodore Roosevelt where he would end up meeting Talise Mabus, one of the first female fighter pilots in US history, and ending up in a relationship with which meant leaving a relationship with an African-American woman he had been dating from high school to college. He'd marry Talise in 1994, a marriage established in mutual political advancement almost as much as personal love. While married he'd serve around three more years in active duty, most notably during the intervention against Bosnian Serbs.

After transferring to the naval reserve in 1997, Upton would run for Philadelphia District Attorney, promising to bring military discipline to the fight against crime. Over the next four years, he’d aggressively promote his actions as contributing to a decreasing crime rate, raising his profile as the homicide rate continued to descend. His mode of operation included aggressively pursuing the harshest possible prison sentences against hard drug manufacturing and dealers. He’d win re-election to district attorney easily and rumors began to swirl about his being a potential candidate for the 2002 Pennsylvania gubernatorial election to replace the term limited Republican Governor. He announced his run early in 2002, running a campaign emphasizing both his tough on crime record and, to many observers, surprisingly liberal orientation on economics, even as he supported bi-partisan proposals like simplifying public programs, promoting movement towards land value taxes and backing employee stock ownership plans. He also cautiously tapped into an abortion skeptical vein among older African American voters and a critical number of white Catholics, while seeking a big donor constituency of Real estate developers and the construction industry. He’d manage to win the Democratic race in a field split by three notable candidates, securing 39% the primary vote with a strong showing in Philadelphia and its surrounding suburbs, but a noticeable weakness in rural Pennsylvania.

In addition to emphasizing his record on crime in Philadelphia, he would spend his campaign promising to lower sales taxes, introduce progressivity to state income taxes and support a process to replace property taxes in the state with land value taxes to promote land development and punish vacant land ownership. He'd go on to win the general election by 5 points, primarily hampered by poor performance in rural counties, but aided by very strong urban support and solid suburban backing.

In office, his first legislative production was the Pennsylvania of Tomorrow program, which was meant to significantly lower sales taxes and increase education funding by shifting over to a more progressive state income tax, along with a variety of 'sin' taxes on beer, cigarettes and gambling. Looking to find a way to secure revenue through utilities taxes, the plan also called for a small tax on electricity generation that was weighted by carbon emissions, partially in an attempt to promote nuclear energy. The program also called for the phase out and replacement of both state and local property taxes in Pennsylvania with land value taxes, starting with a complete moratorium on new property taxes within municipalities. Lastly the bill included putting the Pennsylvania state Treasurer, an office held by a Republican in charge of an project called 'Pennsylvania Solidarity', which would exist to provide advice and aid to businesses in Pennsylvania to implement ESOP plans for their employees, support agricultural cooperatives and promote credit union membership as local alternatives to national conglomerates.

After negotiations with the republican controlled legislature, Upton was able to secure smaller versions of all of his priorities, with the exception of the property tax/land value tax transition, which went through without modifications. Upton would go on to reform government procurement in Pennsylvania through the creation of the Office of Administration and Efficiency, which would seek to factor in recirculated tax revenue in its’ procurement decisions, leading to an increase in business for Pennsylvania from the state government and net improvements to the Pennsylvania budget of around a billion dollars by the end of his first term. As part of his tough on crime approach, he also support laws intended to move towards a requirement for all prisoner's to either work or train for work during their prison term, even at the expense of bending to a republican legislature that wished aimed to increase prison privatization.


In 2004, due to an effective campaign in a low profile race during a presidential election year, his wife Talise was able to secure a landslide victory for the state treasury, even getting inroads into rural Pennsylvania. She went quickly to work using the full breadth of powers provided through the Pennsylvania Solidarity project, leading to significant expansion of ESOPs, coops and credit unions in the state.

In 2005, when the discussion of social security reform in Washington D.C. went into full swing, Upton weighed in by suggesting that he’d be supportive of having the social security trust fund transition its assets into index funds and away from non-marketable securities, alongside lifting the cap on FICA and SECA contributions. The former parts of these comments would be interpreted by some as endorsement of a partial privatization of social security, which caused some dissension in the ranks among progressives in the state democratic party. This triggered the creation of a tongue in cheek campaign by the activist left to draft his wife, Talise, perceived as more left wing, to run for governor in 2006. Talise would end up converting this energy into an announcement of her intention to run for the United States Senate in 2006.

The humorous campaign would, instead, morph into a very serious campaign to draft the 2002 Green Party candidate to run against Upton in the upcoming primaries, who was originally reluctant to do so due to feeling that there was a lack of infrastructure to support a campaign. He quickly gained support from some factions of the Pennsylvania democratic party that opposed Upton, primarily those on the right and localist leaning parts of the party, feeling that while he was in theory closer to their views, the challenger, or the Republican nominee, would be easier to pull in their direction once in office than Upton.

Despite an impressive campaign for someone who was a third party candidate in the election cycle before, Upton won a decisive victory in the primaries, though it was notably much smaller than his own wife’s senate primary victory. Both, however, would go on to win their general election victory in November with around ~60% of the popular vote, as more center and left leaning voters were drawn to vote for Talise and Upton by the other respectively, in addition to riding the 2006 blue wave. The election victory would do much to undermine organized opposition to Upton in the Pennsylvania Democratic Party, particularly when his election victory saw the end of his team's attempts to squash speculation that he was planning to run for President for 2008. State Democrats coveted the chance to have the first black president come from the state whose only other native born president was the man who let America fall into civil war, James Buchanan.

Come new years, 2007, news of an exploratory committee to run for a Upton Fleming run would come out, allowing him to draw some national media to his inauguration speech on January 21st, where he lay out all that he had accomplished in his previous term as Governor of Pennsylvania, before laying out his agenda for the future in terms that were very much nationally applicable, with the promise that specifics would be saved for his February budget address to the state General Assembly.

On March 1st, 2007 he’d officially launch his presidential campaign.

The election victories here are significantly toned down to be at around the average national democrat numbers of the given year to account for the fair possibility that Upton would do worse than Ed Rendell. Given that the RL 2006 republican nominee was a black football player, and given that he performed only ~5 points worse than the 2002 candidate, in a year that republicans did ~13 points worse nationally, I think a black veteran with a tough on crime record could perform at least this well. The inspirations here are Bill Clinton and Barack Obama, except a veteran and committed to building a political force inside of Democratic party to the left of the New Democrats/Democratic Leadership Council types, but just as professionalized.

Biography:

Born in June 6th 1971 to her father Hyatt Mabus and mother, Dorothy Mabus (nee Morrison) in Philadelphia. Her father was born to a family of Pennsylvania catholics that farmed for generations, until eventually being squeezed out by the growth a big agriculture caused Hyatt's father to sell off most of the family land. Hyatt, a high school football phenom, would get a football scholarship to the University of Maine, where he'd meet that woman that's be Talise's mother, Dorothy Morrison, a native american and firmly left-wing member of the socialist party. At a time when despite pursuing an education in finance, Hyatt was a solid new deal democrat. They'd marry soon after graduation and move for work in Philadelphia. Between her mother working in political campaigns and her father working in finance, both would grow increasingly alienated from the left and shift to the right, both due to their careers and the leftward shift of the grass roots of the democratic party, particularly on foreign policy. By the time Talise was born, she would be afforded a very affluent lower upper class life, especially since her father had inherited land from his that had natural gas on it, which he then sold as start up cash for an investment firm.

Talise's interest in politics at a young age and her political beliefs were deeply effected by her parents story at her up bringing. She dreamed of one day becoming president and specifically looked up to as a Margret Thatcher as a female world leader and role model In combination with reflecting her parent’s now firmly conservative politics, both economically and by nature of their catholicism on abortion, combined her driven attitude, she became a moderately well known high school conservative wunderkind, winning a conservative essay contest that won her a trip to CPAC. There, however, her conservative politics began to falter, as one of her goals was to join the military and she found that many of her young conservative peers were against the notion of women participating in combat missions, even in vehicles.

She go to the University of Maine, the alma-mater of her parents, where she enrolled in the Navy ROTC program and majored in Aerospace Engineering alongside a minor in finance. Before graduating, she’d write a book on Margret Thatcher's premiership, making use of both existing young conservative connections and her parents promoting her book in their circles to get it onto the New York Times best seller list.

As part of Navy ROTC, she’d learn to become an instructor pilot for fighter planes, before being allowed to serve in combat roles in 1993. She’d first meet Upton Fleming early that year while serving on the USS Theodore Roosevelt and they’d marry in 1994. While her husband would transfer to the Naval Reserve and run for District Attorney in Philadelphia, Talise would remain in active service until 2004, leading to her seeing service over the skies over Kosovo, Afghanistan and Iraq. In 2004 she would transfer over to the Naval Reserve, and start serving full time in her position as First Lady of Pennsylvania. That same year, she would make use of the largely unused resources of her office to crisscross the state promoting the underutilized Pennsylvania Solidarity project, officially to promote a government program but informally as a means to campaign for a run for the State Treasurer office to replace the Republican incumbent. By studiously avoiding any mention of the race while she used state resources to travel, she was left with more effective resources put towards her campaign that her opposition could muster, allowing her to accomplish a landslide victory in the race that would see her winning multiple rural counties.

Her time in office as state treasurer was an active one, as she made full use of the powers bestowed upon the office to accomplish the goals of the Pennsylvania Solidarity project. Additionally, soon after being elected to office, between speaking to her staff, treasurers in other states and her own father, she begun having concerns about possible hosing bubble, speaking personally to her husband about it before having her treasury publish a report in late 2005, which also suggested additional treasury powers regulating subprime mortgages. Upton, worried about the optics of empowering the office held by his wife and reliant on support from real estate developers, avoided acting on it in concern he could lose a general election or even a primary challenge. The year he was elected, the then democratic governor of Georgia had faced an all out campaign against him for putting tighter restrictions on mortgage creations and lost re-election thanks in part to those efforts, and Upton was concerned about replicating that defeat. Talise would also use the office to subtly direct investment to the benefit of the defense sector in Pennsylvania.

Talise would end up becoming a star of the Pennsylvania democratic party, while also getting to know the struggles of rural Pennsylvanians. She managed to cultivate a positive income among progressive democrats while avoiding being offensive to centrists beyond what her support base implied. She managed leverage generally positive feelings into a successful 2006 run for the US Senate, riding the blue wave and mutually benefiting her husband’s re-election campaign. Now, her concern is carving a space for herself in the US Senate, between her commitments to her husband's upcoming presidential campaign, and her desire to make a mark on the political scene outside from him.

While it might see odd that Talise's mother could be effected by the 'leftward shift of the democratic party, on a count of being a member of the socialist party in university, plenty of neoconservatives underwent this shift in the 50s to the 80s, largely due to holding anti-communist beliefs. Talise herself drifted away from the Republican Party due to concerns about paleoconservatives and libertarians, which she not only ideologically disagree with, but people who's aims who were contrary to her own carreer advancement. The inspirations for Talise include Blanche Lincoln, Elizabeth Warren, Amy McGrath and of course Hillary Clinton.

Well, maybe make notes about what kind of legislation your character would want to write, what his constituents might want to see passed. We don’t have one yet, because, again, our lives do not revolve around NS. Once we do have an idea of when we’re starting the IC, we will let you all know. But for now, I need to reiterate the virtue of patience. The Admin team all have their own schedules, we have our own lives, it takes time to make sure we’re all on the same page, and of course, we need to review the applications that have been coming in.

Additionally, I would personally appreciate it if TayTay could clarify if that is a serious application, or a joke, because I won’t waste my time if it’s not serious.
