Name: Janar Hirotin

Nickname: Father of Sora

Age: 97

Birth Date: 25, 612 (Common Era)

Gender: Male

Planet of Origin: Berral

Race/Species: Human

Physical Image: Right Here

Titles: Administrator for the Semi-Autonomous State of Sora

Religious Beliefs: Not Publicly Religious

Personality: Janar’s personality heavily revolves around his position as a civil servant - possessing strong convictions regarding civil administration and morality. He sees it as his duty as a public authority to ensure fair judgment and rulings - never placing himself above the law. Given this, Janar has a “slight” bias against arrogant and pompous individuals, especially if they have no care for legal procedures, precedent, and rule of law - which simply just slows down effective administration and goes against the law. Coupled with his beliefs of a more open society of religious tolerance and alien-equality, Janar is quite an interesting person in the civil administration.

Family History: Irrelevant

Personal Biography: Janar Hirotin, better known by his first name, was born into the sector-capital world of Berral. Originating from a lower-class family, Janar had little opportunity for social mobility. The only escape was the public education provided on the planet, which Janar attended from a very early age. The struggles of Janar were of the mundane - ranging from schoolwork, studying, friendships, tests, financial issues, and likewise. Further down, Janar slowly gained the understanding that education was the ONLY way for his future. This drive allowed Janar to excel at his academia with vigorous study. Once finishing his primary set of schooling, Janar had planned to go to higher education. Sadly, higher education was not as “public” and costed a fair amount of Sols to afford. Not wishing to burden his family with debt, Janar took up a job as an intern under a civil administrator.

After a few weeks of work, Janar had an interest in the interworkings of the bureaucracy. He opted to take up more responsibility on his end, in hopes of being noticed or speeding up his internship. Sadly for Janar, the work of an Intern is hellish with little reward in the end. It took a whole two years before his internship finished and the position that Janar got was quite low. - a lonely clerk. Needing to grease the wheels a bit, Janar formed new connections and friendships to get better positions faster. Slowly, but surely, Janar rose through the ranks with a combination of merit and personnel connections.

Janar was now a middling civil servant on his planet and also had enough Sols to enter into higher education - a primary goal from the onset. The next few years proved busy but extremely fruitful for Janar. In his last years in higher education, Janar was given an opportunity to manage the repair of a power system in a small city. He took the chance and effectively organized the bureaucratic apparatus to lay out the general plan for repair. Elsewhere, Janar also noticed a few oddities in the papers - one of them had an error in its financials. Must be a mistake, Janar thought and the man called a few friends to check the files for him. More oddities showed and Janar did a deeper inspection into the matter.

Janar kept silent for a good few months as he did his investigation - digging deep into the paper trail. Soon, the man has gotten himself a pile of unaudited papers, falsified reports, unreported financial transfers, and a list of potential names. Yet - Janar kept to himself for a few years after the project was done - thinking on what to do with all this information. A moral dilemma shadowed Janar. He could not report it and act as nothing happened. No pain would happen to him and life goes on. Or Janar can publicly show the whole corruption scandal and expose all the names. After all, he was a public servant, accountable for the functioning of aspects of society. Or maybe just forget about it?

In the end, Janar chose the moral high ground and exposed the whole ordeal to the public and press. Berral was now amidst a media frenzy as one man revealed corruption from the lowest clerk to the highest member of the office - all because someone forgot to cover up one simple mistake. Overnight, Janar became a known name on the planet, the local star system, and even the whole sector. Enemies and allies were also made in a short time period as Janar had to carefully maneuver the bureaucratic and political landscape that he created.

The Imperial Gespan quickly took notice of the whole mess. Embarrassed, the Gespan sought to remove Janar and take him far away from this sector and nearby ones. This upstart must be stopped. And thus, the Gespan gave a “reward” to the man for exposing the scandal by recommending him to the position of an overall administrator for the Semi-Autonomous State of Sora. Unknown to Janar, Sora was at the furthest of the frontier of controllable Imperial space. Coupled with the fact that the planets were extremely backwater, Janar was given literal shit for a reward - relegated to a piece of space of non-significant importance. For the next seven decades, Janar spent his time at Sora. (Story continues at faction-app history)

Name of Territory: Semi-Autonomous State of Sora (or just known as ‘Sora’) | Republic of Sora

Galactic Imperium Constituent Type: Semi-Autonomous State

Government: Constitutional Federal Republic

Capital World: Tebri

Population: 180 billion

Economic Policy: Mixed Ecomony | State-Intervention

Monetary Policy: Progressive Tax System.

Currencies in Circulation: Sols, Imperial Credit, and Soran Dollar (100 Soran Dollars equals 1 Sol)

Industrial Capacity: 450,000

GDP: 2.85 trillion

Food Balance: 180,000 units of food per turn to feed the whole population.

Water Balance: 360,000 units of water per turn to feed the whole population.

Resources Balance Breakdown: 2,000 Units of Basic Materials/300 Units of Advanced Materials/50 Units of Rare Earth Minerals/20 Units of Exotic Materials (at maximum theoretical industrial capacity) from 2 heavy industry

Culture: Sora has gone under extreme changes to its civic and cultural identity under the leadership of Janar. Civic nationalism is rising under the ideals of constitutionalism, federalism, liberal democracy, universal citizenship, equality under the law, etc. This new unified identity is one that is more open and multicultural. Likewise, tolerance of religion and different ideologies is also a major factor. The freedom of the press is also present with many independent media outlets operating in Sora. Public transparency is another ideal becoming more popular and demanded by the population, especially as public schooling (both primary and higher education) is given to everyone and made compulsory for kids and young adults. While small and very insignificant in the wider galaxy, Sora is experiencing a new age for itself.

Social Structure & Status of Species: Both humans and aliens have the full protection of the law. There is also no official or state-sanctioned hierarchy in everyday society. Social mobility is quite high in Sora with anti-discrimination laws in place to protect people from unfair or biased entities or persons. The only social structure that matters in Sora is akin to our real-world wealth disparity. Some are rich, some are poor, some are decently well off, others on the lower-end of things, etc, etc. But everyone has full legal equality under the law.

Territorial Size: Officially, the Semi-Autonomous State of Sora has six systems under its control - Tavdai, Kroih, Kisuct, Seucs, Unaunt, and finally Baukt. The star system of Kisuct is the designated capital star system - holding the only two inhabited planets in the SAS (Tebri [Beta-Class] and Kecit [Cheti-Class] - both are Infrastructure VII). There is a single listening post in every system. Mining station on the gas-giant of Scisu in the Kisuct system. Likewise, ten mining stations in the Caidtunfe Asteroid Belt in the Kisuct system. A major spaceport hangs above both Tebri and Kecit.

Military and Security Forces: Sora maintains a small relatively small fleet and army to ensure internal order and security, especially against space crime and piracy. A fleet of some 1,000 Gunships, 300 Corvettes, 150 Frigates, 60 Destroyers, 30 Light Cruisers, and 5 Cruiser-of-the-lines, makes up the internal security fleet. For the internal security land force, it is made up of some 100,000 souls.

Faction History: The Semi-Autonomous State of Sora, later known as the Republic of Sora, is a very recent addition to Imperial holdings. Subjugated in the last 200 years, the collection territories of Sora belonged to a fledging alien civilization. The “conquest” of such a civilization was short and simple. All it took was a small Imperial fleet to convince the Xenos to accept Imperial yoke. With that ordeal done, the territories of Sora were quickly reorganized into a Semi-Autonomous State. When it came time to decide on an administrator, the enormous Imperial bureaucracy gave it away half haphazardly to some unfortunate soul. Sora was not exactly a well-developed sector. For the most part, it was simply a backwater in comparison to larger Imperial space. Coupled with its position on the frontier of Imperial space, Sora was more or less a second thought. The two centuries saw various administrators come and go - some being bad, some mediocre, and some quite decent. Whatever the case, all of them sought better pastures elsewhere in the Imperial bureaucracy - leaving Sora to switch administrators every so often.

The trend of coming-and-going administrators would stop at the arrival of a new administrator, Janar Hirotin. After being situated on the happenings and doings of Sora, Janar had his work cut out for him. First, Sora had a mess of a civil service due to the constant shifting of new bosses. To fix this, Janar recognized the apparatus into a more cohesive entity by removing useless procedures, promoting competent persons to the right positions, and streamlining communications between different departments (to name a few). Second, Janar recognized the internal security forces to better fight against crime and privacy, placing almost everything under a unified command system, and keeping a very close eye on the person in control of said security. The list goes on.

After creating a baseline for decent functionality, Janar went about rectifying the social and economic issues of Sora. Whilst Sora has six systems, it only had two inhabited planets in the capital system of Kisuct. The other systems merely had simple automated listening posts. Elsewhere, the majority alien population was given full equality under the law - reducing any tension for the time being. Janar also reformed the court districts to better administer rulings and to better manage the procedures of mundane crimes. Another important feature of Janar's reforms was the building of public schools and universities for the public as a part of his education campaign. Likewise, Janar has installed various welfare measures to keep the unluckiest and poorest from material and moral depravity - a bit costly, but the people's appreciation is more than enough to make it well worth it.

For the economic realm, Janar was quite in a pickle. The industrial and financial situation of Sora was less than ideal - forcing Janar to truly display his skillset of civil management. The man wanted to rapidly develop the planets of Tebri and Kecit. To effectively funnel resources and manage them, Janar created the Economic Development Committee with himself as the chairperson. Kecit was the first target, given its rich resources. All and any financial income that was not used for the maintenance of the state was redirected to the development of Kecit. The Imperial credit was used too as another method of financial gain by simply exchanging credit to Sols or holding onto credit for when the exchange was high enough. With this influx of Sols, Janar purchased vast amounts of industrial machinery from the Imperial Combine - negotiating for prices and fair deals. One last factor of rapid growth is Janar's openness to immigrants and refugees, fully allowing them rights and protections under the law as they enter into the system.

The next several decades saw Janar rapidly transform his situation from bad to good - utilizing the best of his abilities to turn Sora from a backwater into an above-average developed system. The constant refinement of methods and statecraft as time went on, allowed Janar to plot a course and drive it well. For example, the Economic Development Committee became a cornerstone of Janar's heavy-handed state approach to economic development, even as private enterprises started to show up during the latter years. The next biggest development was the creation of a civic government. While Janar did create a baseline for civil administration, it was quite barebones. He needed to ensure stability and more functionality as the capital system developed. Thus, the man brainstormed for a good few years on creating a more formal government. In the end, Janar created a Constitution as the supreme law of the land. Not even Janar would be above it. Likewise, Janar needed Sora to govern itself better as the man knew that he will not exist in the next 400 years or so. He organized the lands of the two planets into various states, made easy due to pre-existing administrative zones created by the Xenos themselves. From there, he ensured a measure of checks and balances from the state level to the federal level and finally hosted the first round of elections for different offices.

Fast-forward to today, Sora (more specifically Kisuct) has emerged as a growing economy in the far reaches of Imperial space. Whilst not a juggernaut or major actor in galactic politics, Sora sits quietly and simply watches as the future of the Imperium is uncertain.

Faction Leader
Name: Velazi Ordos
Nickname: The Luster King
Age: 100
Birth Date: 19,845 IC/25,609 Common Era
Gender: Male
Planet of Origin: Manjura Prime
Race/Species: Manjuran/Transhuman
Physical Description or Image:
Image

Titles: King of the Rullan Expanse, Steward of the Northern Frontier, Protector of the Chrome, High Explorer of the Galactic North

Religious Beliefs: The Chromium Covenant, or the Covenant of the Machine as it is known, is the sole religion of the Rullan Expanse. This religion has come from the companies when they set their sights into exploring and settling the Rullan Periphery during the time of the Shadow and the need for cheap cybernetics for the workers and colonists to live in the harsh planets in the beginning of the long and gradual colonization efforts but now it has grown into the symbol of the worship of transhumanism and the forward faith of those who live on the edges of the Galactic Imperium. The combination between man and machine makes a perfect being that can attain immortality and become closer to the Spirit in the Machine through the power of the machine with the flesh, not just one or another.

Personality: The Luster King likes to be insular, like the rest of the people of the Expanse. He mostly handles things by himself and is very spiritual when it comes to the Covenant and the need to help spread the faith to all those in the Galactic North. This goes with the politics of the Imperium, willing to make sure that pays enough respect to the Celestial Throne to keep his station and the Expanse from being delegated by the Emperor or someone else. He also has very few friends and trade contracts beyond what he allows in his borders and the vassals. Yet when it comes to said vassals and alien powers, he has an active hand in them, making sure that his lands are secured in the by any means.

Family History:
House Ordos can trace its lineage through the ownership of the Manjura Company, a transportation company that was founded only 25 years before the Age of the Shadow that gained rising prominence when the Shadow started destroying worlds and countless refugees wanting to escape the approaching invasion of the horror, Manjura started buying large amounts of ships and made deep connections with the ISG in order to get fast enough ships for them to profit off of the logistics.

There was fierce competition among them that as more worlds were being swallowed up by the fires of war. Many of them had expanded their merchant fleets and modified them to handle bulk transport to move refugees and used these profits to invest into exploration fleets that went into the frontiers of the Imperium, far into the Galactic North. One such place that was the Rullan Expanse, a recently discovered part of space that was full of xenos and outside of the Imperium's sight as they were focused on the ever-present threat.

Companies started to ferry survivors to these worlds to colonize it and work underneath the companies. These company-worlds were the start of the first wave of colonizers in the frontier that came with the refugees trying to find a new home. Life was hard over the past 250 years as the companies kept ferrying people to worlds that had a lot of mineral wealth or agricultural wealth in it. They would use these cheap sources of labor to ferry goods to nearby industrial or economic sectors to help with the war effort and kept growing to help with more extracting raw materials.

The second wave of company refugees came with the expansion of more colonies and the implementation of cybernetics due to the rapid need for sending raw resources and foodstuffs to other more developed parts of the Imperium. This point came at the midpoint of the Age of the Shadow planets were seeded with varying degrees of people and only crew due to the need of protection from xenos piracy and touching other states that required diplomacy.

Private militaries grew and the need for cybernetics also grew as the need to defend their companies. The fighting between the companies and the myriad of xenos slow down profit and most of their planets were under threat by them. The companies managed to come together and make the Rullan Conglomerate. It was ruled by ten of the most powerful people that happened to be an Ordos, who ran their united power as a corporate sector.

The Ordos family invested heavily into cybernetics at this time to field cybernetic legions across the myriad planets to help be at the forefront of the battles against the Xenos. Even while the Shadow was fighting the galaxy. The Conglomerate expanded beyond their borders at the time, using cybernetics and more bought naval might under the need of fighting the xenos. Several species were purged at the time with their planets turned as backwater colonies for more refugees.

By the end of the Age of the Shadow, the corporate sector had ten companies lording over them as nobles. So, the next step was that Ordos and the other nine went to go petition to the Celestial Throne for the rights to become noble houses and have legal rule over their corporate domains. The transition made the Conglomerate become the Rullan Alliance under the rulership of the Ten Luster Dukes.

The term of the Luster Duke came from the mercantile and plutocratic nature of their fiefdoms and how they would treat their people. During the start of the Second Imperial Renaissance, cybernetics had started to change from a symbol of status to a symbol of religion as those who were augmented with machine to a certain degree were capable of being better than those who didn't This became a religion that was propagated by the Ten Luster Dukes as a means of trying to assert dominance over the majority of people who didn't have them but such a wildfire expanded to have future Luster Dukes to believe it as well, becoming the state religion and overcoming Terranism as the main religion for humanity in the area.

Trade between the Imperium and the xenos also flourished and expansion steadily rose as the demand for more Sols was always a thing for the Luster Dukes. The Dukes sent out exploration vessels to go deeper into the frontier and find new planets and expanded to meet the demands of an ever-growing Imperium and their own realms. For thousands of years, they expanded slowly against the xenos that tried to halt it and their greed but there all things did come to an end at the end of the Second Imperial Renaissance.

The greed of the Ten Luster Dukes grew to the point that the Rullan Alliance fractured and a civil erupted around 150 planets. It dragged everyone in the Expanse in their war. The scholars dubbed it the Greed Wars which had went on for 10 years. It ended to the point that Ordos got a political marriage and the treat from the Celestial Throne to send his own troops to stabilize the region by force. At the end Ordos managed to control the other houses and reform the Alliance into the Rullan Kingdom and reorganized the Expanse.

This started the age of the Kingdom and of the Luster King. Much of the Expanse was consolidated and expanded with much more planets underneath the House's banner. A majority of those were considered backwater to the common Imperial planet but the spirit is hardy for the people who worship the God in Chrome and even make a pilgrimage to become one of the Covenant. It was a time of peace for the people in the galaxy, they were far away from the Schism and the stagnation of the Imperium as a whole made them more insular and reforms to try and become more independent from the greater Imperium in terms of economics and resources. This has become apparent with more incentives to help produce more industrialized agriculture and mineral extraction to the Manjura Core more than the Imperium as a whole.

These reforms to improve the local economy are just the tip of the iceberg with the current Luster King being has taken an active neutral stance in the political landscape of the Imperium. Believing that the Celestial Throne is losing its grip and that the current Imperium is going in decline but refuses to help spread such chaos and ideas to his part of the galaxy. Knowing that the Expanse can't handle to be taken from him by the other houses.

For now, he watches the politics of the galaxy and starts hedging his bets and seeing where the pieces of the stage set for the coming of the Dark Age.

Personal Biography:
Born around 100 years ago when his father was at the later years of his life. His mother was a mistress from being a noble courtier that became a mistress to the old man in order to get a son since his wife didn't love him anymore and died 200 years ago due to a xeno attack. Of course, he put down the filthy aliens and culled their planet as punishment. It still wasn't enough as he sought to try and have an air that he could call his own since others were sent to other parts of the galaxy. At last, his son, Velazi, was considered the true air to the House and was taught by the numerous tutors and Covenant High Priests in order to lead the House and the Star Kingdom.

Velazi saw that the time he and his father were living in seemed to be the twilight of the great Galactic Imperium. Many of the Noble Houses, Great and Small, were looking away from the Celestial Throne and towards their own. It became even more so that the culture of the Kingdom had started to look at themselves and companies to start to be made with the backing of the House more so than just the Combine now as his father was starting to make a push, a push to try and worry about the fringes than Celestial Throne.

This was taken up when Velazi took the throne at the age of 25, a really young age but one that came with the death of his father. Velazi went to see the administration of the Expanse but also the politicking between the noble houses of the Seante. He didn't like going to Nova Terra and didn't like dealing with Nobles who were far better off than the noble from the fringes, however he did. He made the deals and made sure to give the Expanse a path of neutrality when dealing with the fracturing Pax Imperialis. However, with the times and the political landscape among the nobility becoming as tenuous as ever, than he had to find new ways to bring more production to his personal domain and even start to bring in more military vessels for the glory of the Covenant's militant branch of the Cybertoria.

For now, these are trying times and the Fringe Nobles such as himself are looking coreward for help of security and trying to maintain some sort of sovereignty within the eyes of the crumbling rule of the Celestial Throne. Even someone young such as him could see that the Celestial Throne doesn't care much for the matters of the planets on the fringe so long as they pay their dues. Which is both good and bad considering the state of affairs of the Imperium. It just means that he needs to use his borrowed time well, for that's all it seems to matter in the Luster King's eyes and those of the Expanse.

How rare are Beta Class planets? Same question for the Cheti-class planets.

Also, could I make my faction have more developed planets but far fewer of them?

There isn’t one yet. There won’t ever be a galactic map like in other rps due to just massive scale inaccuracies those have. Players would be too small and possibly not contiguous enough for such a map to ever be useful. Instead there’ll be a series of region specific maps.

Now this is great news. It definitely was an issue last time.

Faction Leader
Name: Zeran of House Black
Nickname: Warlord Zeran
Age: 54
Birth Date: 25,587
Gender: Female
Planet of Origin: Uzeras
Race/Species: Human
Physical Description or Image: Six foot one inches tall, black hair, brown eyes, average in other respects.
Titles: Khatun
Religious Beliefs: None, although publicly pays tribute to a number of popular faiths in her territory.
Personality: Zeran has seen the writing on the wall, and is committed to using her small domain to survive the fall of the Imperium and start her own empire. She is distrustful by nature and has a very Machiavellian attitude in politics. However, she believes in the development of humanity and sees the Imperium as holding humanity and all other sapient life back. She also has an interest in military matters and building up the police force of her small domain as much as possible. She believes in a republican form of government eventually, but sees the necessity of a military dictatorship of some type for the time being.

Family History: House Black has been the ruling family of a large but underdeveloped far from Nova Terra since the end of the Second Imperial Renaissance. Zeran is the most powerful leader of this house in a long time, and has marginalized or destroyed all significant political opposition through a variety of strategies.
Personal Biography:
Zeran was raised on Uzeras, being the child of the previous Khan. Despite this elite upbringing she developed an interest in philosophy and the real world outside the walls of the palace compound on Uzeras. As she aged a strong dislike of the aristocratic elite was developed. Upon taking power she killed nearly all her house's rivals in what was essentially a self-coup where the typical meeting of all the leaders of the noble houses of the Khaganate when a new ruler came to power was punctuated by a massacre of the leading families, their own mercenary guards paid to turn on them and the STP cleaning up the rest of the mess. Since then 25 years have passed and new loyal houses assist Zeran in her governing. Zeran represents a progressive faction of the elite of Uzeras, and has begun campaigns against corruption and economic rent seeking with the goal of placing all political power in the hands of "productive citizens" - namely industrialists - rather than old families that owned planets or carefully controlled the markets of advanced technology. Despite that she keeps the new elite on a tight leash, never allowing any faction to form that could threaten her own goals.

Faction Info
Name of Territory: Khaganate of Uzeras
Galactic Imperium Constituent type?: Semi-autonomous region
Government: Republican leaning military dictatorship
Capital World: Uzeras
Population: Slightly less than 2 trillion beings, with a small minority being non-humans.
Economic Policy: Military and heavy industry development.
Monetary Policy: The state prints its own currency called the Uzeras Standard Unit which is usually pegged to the Imperial Sol. It is produced in accordance with the state's economic needs as all banking is nationalized.
Currencies in Circulation: Imperial Credit, Uzeras Standard Unit
Industrial Capacity: 1329000
GDP: 37,205,000,000,000 Imperial Sols
Culture: The Khaganate has a tradition of assimilating conquered peoples, and although there is great variation in culture between planets the common language of the Khaganate is spoken everywhere and in considerable areas outside its territory, owing to its once much larger presence in the galaxy.
Social Structure & Status of Species: Aliens have legal equality with humans, and while human centric views exist actively pursuing a harmful policy towards aliens is a capital offense.
Territorial Size: (How many settled planets/moons/stations, broken down into what kind: Arid, Alpine, Continental, Desert, Artic, Barren, Dead (No Atmosphere), Death World (everything wants to kill non-natives), Oceanic, Terraformed (not natural and extremely expensive, needs Imperial permission), Gaia (rare natural gems of worlds)

1 Infrastructure VIII Continental, pop. 250 billion, GDP: 12,000,000,000,000 Sol's, Name: Uzeras.
2 Infrastructure VII Continental, total pop. 245 billion, GDP 2,900,000,000,000 Sol's total, Names: Ezargo, Bukur.
1 Infrastructure VII Desert, pop. 90 Billion, 1,250,000,000,000 Sol's GDP, Name: Horek.
10 Infrastructure VI Continental, Desert, and Arid, total pop. 150 billion, 3,900,000,000,000 Sol's total GDP, Names: Yerel, Helephar, Tazek, Talez, Ghenero, Plato, Burek, Noru, Haralo, Foratarge.
20 Infrastructure V numerous types, total pop. 200 billion, 15,000,000,000,000 Sol's total GDP, too numerous to name.
100 Infrastructure IV numerous types, total pop. 200 billion, 1,500,000,000,000 Sol's total GDP, too numerous to name.
300 Infrastructure III numerous types, total pop. 300 billion, 105,000,000,000 Sol's total GDP, too numerous to name.
1000 Infrastructure II numerous types, total pop. 200 billion, 500,000,000,000 Sol's total GDP, too numerous to name.
1,000 Infrastructure I numerous types, total pop. 500 billion, 25,000,000,000 Sol's total GDP, too numerous to name.

Military and Security Forces:
The "State Trade Police" are the only military force because the Khaganate's status forbids it from raising its own formal military. However its large size allows it to have a police force which Zeran has pushed as close as possible to the state of military force. Although it has no large capitol ships, Zeran has directed that shipyards be expanded and that capitol ships be secretly designed so that her empire can begin producing them the moment the possibility is there. The State Trade Police also have a large ground contingent which has a disproportionate share of officers in it, with people routinely being trained one or two levels above their current rank so as to allow for future extremely rapid expansion. The State Trade Police also uses large war robots as shock troops and light armor against pirates, however these robots are easily modifiable to carry heavier weapons than they currently do for use in a real war. The STP's naval branch is comprised mostly of smaller ships that are suitable for anti-piracy duty, however nearly all ships carry missile launchers effective against large and heavily armored and shielded targets. This allows the STP to fulfill its official goal of anti-piracy and security work while being outfitted to fight proper fleets.

Faction History:

The Khaganate was founded prior to 800 IC, and its early history apart from several legendary rulers is generally not well documented. It rose and fell over the years until at its height encompassing over two hundred thousand worlds it was defeated by the Imperium in 6000 IC. Forced to accept a peace agreement severely trimming the Khaganate's territory down and limiting its armed forces to solely police it has existed since as a state filled with internal conflict. The war of the Shadow worsened conditions significantly, and many of the Khaganates oldest worlds were devastated however Uzeras itself was bypassed on the way to Nova Terra. The Second Renaissance occurred during a period of economic stability and recovery. During this time House Black was able to take over the government and began its rule of the territory. The decline of the empire threatened to drag down the Khaganate before Zeran's ascension to power, however in the years since that there has been great stability and economic expansion as more heavy and war industries are opened every day - for the "continued security of this semi-autonomous region", of course.

I and the other Devs wont be looking at Apps for a bit. I haven't even glanced at any of them beyond the users NS name. We were just hammering out some economy mechanic issues during the initial round of players running through those.

Always glad to see this back again :)

Name: Johnathan Aetius
Nickname: "Blackjack" and "The Hero of Rigel IV"
Age: 93
Birth Date: 25,616
Gender: Male
Planet of Origin: Nova Terra
Race/Species: Genetically-modified human
Height: 6'2''
Weight: 170lbs
Physical Description or Image: Aetius, Combat armor
Social Class: Though only minor nobility, the Aetii are highly devoted to military service, and are renowned for having produced some of the Imperium's finest officers spanning back countless generations.
Titles: Marshal
Occupation: Marshal in the Imperium Army
Hobbies/Pastimes: Enjoys studying military history, strategy, and tactics, as well as training, sparring, and most of all: war.
Talents/Skills: A brilliant strategist and tactician, exceptional swordsman, and a good shot.
Religious Beliefs: Adherent of the Fides Martii, a religion popular among some in the Imperial military which teaches that one can enter the paradise of Elysium through honorable conduct and glory acquired through battle.
Personality: An honorable, no-nonsense soldier through and through. He cares for little outside of battle and the men under his command, and couldn't give two-shits about politics except for when it interferes with his ability to do his duty. While he can be quite vocal about certain issues with his closest confidants in private, in public he has a reputation for being somewhat taciturn, preferring to speak with his actions more than his words. That said, he can say much while speaking little, and his men have learned to pay close attention to what he does have to say.
Biography: From the moment he was conceived, Johnathan Aetius was destined to become a soldier and leader of men. His father spared no expense in having him genetically-modified to be faster, smarter, and stronger than the average man for precisely that purpose; and his youth was devoted entirely to perfecting the art of war. In addition to studying military history, strategy, and tactics, the young Aetius was subjected to a variety of brutal combat techniques and martial arts forms, as well as training with a vast array of firearms and other weapons. Though skilled with a rifle, Aetius proved to be particularly adept as a swordsman, and after only a few years training was often able to even defeat his instructors with a blade.

An unfortunate side-effect of his genetic-modifications was that the increased metabolic rate that helped to make his stronger and faster also caused him to age more rapidly than the average human, so to offset the time lost to his genetics his father arranged for him to being his formal training at the Nova Terra Officer's Academy at the age of 14. The training was tough, but Aetius' father had seen that he was more than prepared for it. He routinely outperformed his compatriots in nearly all of his classes, and two years later graduated at the top of his class. His skills caught the eye of the Imperial Guard, who selected him for additional training with their organization. The training was excruciatingly brutal, and over the course of the year-long training program only half of the class lived to see graduation. Fortunately, Aetius was among those survivors, and thanks to his prior officer's training was commissioned into the Guard as a Lieutenant. As a graduation present, his father spent a small fortune on a prototype plasma blade so that his son could play to his strengths in the battles to come, and Aetius continues to wield that weapon to this day.

Eager to earn some glory for himself and his family, Aetius signed on to lead the most dangerous missions the Guard had to offer. Though many such missions had been written off as suicide runs, Aetius returned victorious from each assignment; resulting in a rapid rise through the ranks, and earning him the nickname "Blackjack." He reached the rank of Commander by the age of 38, but the further he rose through the ranks, the more he began to butt heads with his superiors. He didn't share the fanatical devotion to the Emperor that many in the Guard had, and where most would obey their orders unquestioningly, Aetius' strong sense of honor led to his conveniently having equipment failures when he was ordered to do things he considered dishonorable. Finally, when he was ordered to violently suppress a civilian protest, he decided he'd had enough and put in for an immediate transfer to the Imperial Army.

The Army was only too glad to take in someone with Aetius' record, and after transferring him in at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel, he was placed in command of a Battalion. When Aetius arrived, he was appalled at what he considered to be a lack of discipline and poor training among the Battalion's grunts. He immediately devised his own training regimen based off of the Guard's training and the regimen his father had designed for him, and ordered every officer and soldier in the Battalion to participate. Though most hated Aetius at first (and some even talked of mutiny), when the Battalion was deployed to its first combat zone the men soon began to understand the training's value. Following their first major engagement, Aetius' Battalion suffered fewer casualties while inflicting more enemy fatalities than any other Battalion in the Sector Army. That he fought on the frontlines alongside his men throughout the entire engagement quickly earned him the respect of the officers and troops under him, and it wasn't long before he was promoted to the rank of Colonel.

As the years dragged on, Aetius continued to fight on the frontlines despite getting shot, stabbed, burned, blown up, and having the scars to show for it. This earned him the undying loyalty of his men, and helped him continue to rapidly rise through the ranks; reaching General at the age of 75 and continuing to mandate his elite training regimen for everyone in the Third Army which was placed under his command. At 81 he gained the greatest boon to his reputation during the Battle of Rigel IV. Though his Army had fought well, Aetius' requests for reinforcements fell on deaf ears, and he instead received orders to evacuate the planet and redeploy to a combat area deemed to be of greater strategic interest. That this would mean leaving the 10 million citizens of the Imperium living in the planet's capital at the mercy of their enemy evidently meant little to his superiors, and Aetius ended up suffering from one of his famous communications equipment malfunctions before he could confirm his orders. He did manage to call in a few favors before the equipment mysteriously broke down, and was able to get a transport fleet large enough to evacuate the Capital rerouted to their position, but it would take four days for them to arrive.

Aetius used every trick in the book to hold the enemy at bay, deploying all manner of traps and ambush tactics to whittle down their numbers and keep the fighting out of the Capital. Despite being outnumbered 10 to one, Aetius' soldiers fought with extraordinary courage and valor, and with Aetius leading them from the front, managed to overcome the odds and kept the city safe until the transports could arrive to evacuate them and the civilians to safety. Fortunately, the fact that no one could definitively prove that Aetius ever received the confirmed order to evacuate the planet kept him from being court-martialed, and when the media learned of what happened from the rescued civilians, they quickly jumped on the story: proclaiming Aetius the "Hero of Rigel IV" and praising the bravery of the Imperium soldiers who gave their lives to protect the citizens of the Imperium. The story provided a much needed boost to the Imperium's morale, and after the Emperor himself praised the Third Army's actions, Aetius' superiors quickly changed their tune and competed to take credit for ordering Aetius to defend the planet. Ultimately, one of the Emperor's Joint Chiefs won out, and to try and make everything look more convincing, he awarded Aetius with the highest honor that could be bestowed in the Imperium military, and promoted him to the rank of Marshal.

Placed in command of an entire Sector Army, Aetius proceeded to implement his training regimen for the millions of troops under his authority, and over the course of the last two years has refined them into the one of the finest fighting forces in the entire Imperium. His actions at Rigel IV helped to cement his soldiers' loyalty for him, and as he continued to fight alongside them in spite of his high rank, he inspired in many a devotion nearly as fierce as the Guards have for their Emperor. This has led to a concern among some Imperium brass that the men under Aetius' command may be more loyal to their commander than they are to the Emperor, and some of his more envious rivals have even begun to demand that Aetius be removed from his command, lest he try and use his soldiers to make a play for the Imperial Throne. For his part, Aetius has done everything in his power to avoid the political mess the Imperium now finds itself in, and has focused his time and attention on that greatest of human endeavors: war.

Segmentia wrote:Faction Leader
Name: Xevara Lancellum (Pronounced Lansel-um)
Nickname: (If applicable)
Age: 109
Birth Date: 25,600
Gender: Female
Planet of Origin: Meos
Race/Species:Meosian
Physical Description or Image: Standing at a towering 9, Xevara is one of the primary examples of the potential size disparity that can be found in the Meos species.
Titles: Imperial Viceroy-Guvernadur, Palatine-Siridar, one of the Directors of Imperial Combine, former Imperial Amtsbeg
Religious Beliefs: Not particularly religious, venerates her ancestors as is Meosian tradition.
Personality: Surprisingly affable for one of her station, and hard working. While generally friendly, she is also quite calculating and can be quite manipulative
Species History: It is often said that the history of the Meosian species goes hand-in-hand with that of the Imperium, for the Meosians have been with the Imperium from its earliest days. While much of that history lacks precision thanks to sheer age and data-blights. What is known is often a point of pride for the species, that being that they have been with the Imperium since the earliest of stages, and that rather than being conquered they had willingly joined with the Imperium, eventually forgoing the offer of becoming a SAS and instead becoming Imperial citizens proper.

The Meosians made a reputation for themselves as being a mercantile and industrial species, with the leaders of the species able to squeeze every last bit of use out of something. The species became quite affluent and fairly influential in the industrial, economic, and trade sectors for the size of their population. The Meosians expanded quite humbly compared to the humans of the Imperium, both not needing the space to expand to as they had a much slower growing population in comparison to humans, and they would wait until worlds more suitable and desirable for their species came along, buying the colonization rights outright, or petitioning the Emperor or Empress at the time for the rights.

In this regard the Meosians have developed and advanced alongside the Imperium for the majority of its history. In modern times the Meosians exist in a fairly well-off fashion, with worlds they own the rights to being smoothly administered and quite stable. The fabulous wealth many equate with the Meosians is not evenly distributed, naturally, and the great families/clans that have always governed and controlled the species live in wonderful luxury, whereas the average Meosian is about as well off as the average Imperial human citizen.

It is another note of pride that out of all the xenos species within the Imperium, it is Meosians who have a history of members of their species rising to some of the high offices in the Imperium, often those regarding economics, trade, and industry. While still quite a spectacularly rare honor, it is a point of pride nonetheless.

Personal Biography: Xevara was born into the ancient, proud, and exceptionally wealthy Lancellum family of Meos, who also happened to be the undisputed ruling family of the Meosian species for the past millenia at the very least. Born into the lap of such luxury she was afforded the comforts that few in the galaxy, beyond the upper classes of the Imperium, could envision. Some of the greatest private tutors in the galaxy were hired to educate Xevara (A common enough practice among the Meosian higher classes), and she grew into a well educated and highly intelligent young woman. As she entered into adulthood she attended one of the premiere and most prestigious universities on Nova Terra, earning high grades and also rubbing shoulders and making contacts with other scions of the Imperium.

After graduation she was offered a position in the Galactic Baking Corporation, where she quickly proved her schooling to be well founded, showing that she had a natural skill for finance and management, and she was quickly promoted from planetary, to system, all the way to sector management, working on the extensive staffs of the various regional and sector supervisors.

Two decades of serving with the GBC, and Xevara was offered a unique position. A middling level world, in terms of industry and prosperity, had been seeing sharp declines in both, and investigation from the GBC had found that the world was being very poorly governed. As the GBC reported the issue to the proper authorities, they had also recommended her for the role of Imperial Amtsbeg to turn the planet around. She accepted the honor, naturally, and was swiftly affirmed by the Senate, with her appointment being voted on bundled with the appointment of dozens of other Amtsbegs’.

Arriving on the world, Xevara set to work at once, excising the rot of incompetence with precision. Of course turing around an entire planets fortunes wasn’t something that was exactly quick and easy to do after years of mismanagement, and for a decade and a half Xevara meticulously and tirelessly worked towards that goal, which eventually lead to an economic and industrial boom for the world, sending it well beyond even its former economic glory.

Her work there and with the GBC, as well as her contacts made from university, eventually found her with the attention of the hiring agents of the Imperial Combine, who offered her a position as a sector supervisor. Acceptance was only natural for someone as ambitious as Xevara, and she began her career with the Imperial Combine after resigning her position as Amtsbeg.

Xevara’s career within the Imperial Combine would be long and successful, stretching slightly over fifty years, and would see her serving on the board of Directors for eleven years, where she was introduced and had some degree of contact with Valeria, of the Imperial House, who acted as the Emperor's representative as General Secretary of Imperial Combine.

As Oversector Elysium was being formed and candidates for its Viceroy were put forward, Xeveras’ own name was entered, and thanks to her connections, career, and other accomplishments she was eventually voted into the position by the Senate, and confirmed by the Emperor. Xevara has served as Viceroy for roughly a year, most of that year spent pouring over the extensive data from the six Sectors that made up the Oversector, and choosing the high level staff for her administration. She still serves as a Director of Imperial Combine, and was recently appointed with the additional title of Guvernadur for the Oversector, allowing her broad powers to form a military from the oversector as needed.

Faction Info
Name of Territory: Example- The Imperial Oversector of Elysium
Galactic Imperium Constituent type?: Oversector
Government: (Star Feudalism, Republic, Democracy, Imperial Governorate, etc)
Capital World: Currently Xaepra
Population: 31,038,800,000,000 (trillion)
Economic Policy: Varied, the Oversector administration is yet to try and implement a universal policy.
Monetary Policy: Same as above
Currencies in Circulation: Imperial Sols and Imperial credits, any other currencies in circulation are miniscule and only locally traded on worlds or solitary systems
Industrial Capacity: 84,876,000 (million)
GDP: 718,373,500,000,000 (trillion) Sols
Culture: (Any unique cultural traits?)
Food Balance: Units of food needed/produced 31,038,800, for 319,700 ICU, and 310,388 units of Fertile soil
Water Balance: Clean water units needed for population/produced 620,776, for 620,776 ICU
Resources Balance Breakdown:
7,008 Light industrial districts: Cost/Maintenance: 788,400 ICU/157,680 ICU
3,208 Medium industrial districts: Cost/Maintenance: 721,800 ICU/120,300 ICU
5 Heavy industrial districts: Cost/Maintenance: 1,428,150 ICU/213,000 ICU

2,000,000 Basic Materials, 1,500,000 ICU
50 Units of Exotic Materials, 21,956,250 ICU

Social Structure & Status of Species: As an Imperial Oversector, all planets follow the Imperial legal system, and while universal application of the law is impossible to achieve over such a large expanse of territory, the primary laws are considered adequately enforced. There are a few minor xenos species within the Oversector, and while generally accepted at large, there is a small but violent Terranists element within the oversector. Though they generally stick to themselves, the appointment of a xenos Viceroy has riled them up, according to intelligence reports.

Territorial Size: 7,008 planets
1,505 Beta-class worlds
1,000 Epsilon-class worlds
503 Cheti-class worlds
2,200 Gamma-class worlds
1,600 Delta-class worlds
200 Omega-class worlds

Military and Security Forces: The sectors that make up Oversector Elysium have essentially no military forces and the only security forces are law-enforcement.

Faction History: A decade ago the bureaucrats of the Imperium stumbled upon quite a conundrum in their vast expanses of record keeping. Several sectors within the Imperial core territories were found to be lacking, garrisons and fleets had long since vanished simply because of Imperial oversight and a lack of need for them, secured as they were within the heart of the Imperium. Upon closer inspection more inefficiencies across hundreds of systems and worlds were being discovered. As the scale of the issues became apparent and seeing the need for a wide-focused approach, the bureaucrats suggested to the Emperor that an oversector be formed and a viceroy nominated.

ERRO CONSOLIDATED TERRITORIES
CHARACTERS

FEDERAL GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS

Name: Gyminora aul Trai-Suerda auv Mursa
Image

Nickname: Lady of the West, Wander-Queen
Age: 85
Birth Date: 54.33.21735 EE / 22.45.19838 IC
Gender: Female
Planet of Origin: Mursa, Mursa Sector
Race/Species: Human
Physical Description:
Standing at 5’8”, the Autarch of the Erro seems surprisingly normal at any first glance. Possessing smooth, pale skin and a slender overall build, her black hair kept neatly with some number of golden tattoos about the face, one might overall label the Autarch as conservative in her methods. A golden crown is normally worn, as well as earrings with long tassels of cloth-of-gold, while she normally dresses in black-and-gold dresses. A stately kind of authority is generally exhibited in her movement, stance, or way of talking, further developing a quiet, save for the steady hum of a personal shield, presence.
Titles: Autarch of the Erro Consolidated Territories
Religious Beliefs: Erro-Terranis
The Autarch, while not publicly religious, does make certain allowances for her own faith. Such things include the quiet sponsorship of several celebrations and galas under the patronage of established churches intended to bring together economic leaders, institutions which search out and raise up talent found in the lower levels of society, as well as several organizations which maneuver against alien discrimination in the workplace, though the Autarch does take pains to ensure that these acts are done with few traces, as well as with no government funds.
Personality:
Straightforward, honest, and genuinely set on improving the lives of herself, her family, and the citizenry as a whole, Gyminora is by most accounts highly regimented, mindful of extravagances and careful to never make too much waste, though is balanced with the need to maintain the image of the Erro Autarchy. She does lack the strong manipulative qualities of her predecessor, though has made strides to improve her diplomatic skills. Towards the lower classes and officials Gyminora maintains a certain distance both in the effort to keep the image of her station as well as to keep an impersonal eye on the various positions of officials and the attempts to jockey for power. She largely keeps a policy of raising others up by their effectiveness and their capability to be effective while not causing undue collateral damage, either politically or otherwise. In private, Gyminora keeps to herself for the most part.
Family History:
The Suerda family holds deep roots on the world of Mursa, existing there prior to the major loss of records by the time of the Shadow War. During the following Imperial Renaissance, they were mainly involved in the extensive Superluminal freight trade which was emerging during the period, shipping goods from Mursa all the way to Nova Terra and, according to some, even beyond the far-off jewel. Notable as being extensively involved in the cybernetics business, providing such devices at cutthroat prices compared to such as the Rullan, the Suerdas would come to own several trading stations across the Erro territories. As they expanded in their deals, however, naturally the family would come into contact with the bureaucratic apparatuses of the government and, as such, would slowly make moves to expand into that realm. By the start of the Imperial Regressive Era they were established as a prominent mercantile class with fingers in most levels of lower government, entrenched in the shipping sectors of most major worlds within the Erro territories as well as in neighboring polities.
Personal Biography:
Gyminora would be born in 21735 EE in the midst of a large-scale, long term government reform by the reigning Autarch, Keil al-Ouzi Augus auz Lokem. Her parents, both civil servants on Mursa working for the hydroponics department supplying several major farms, were more than happy with the birth of their seventh child, and soon enough the young girl was in with the mob. She quickly garnered a reputation for quick wit and observation, for being trouble if trouble shouldn’t be able to be found, and relished every moment of that play. The reform, meanwhile, would lead to multiple members of the Suerda family being imprisoned for a variety of crimes both real and imagined. Gyminora would notice such imprisonments only when a favorite uncle or aunt was no longer available, only when her parents gave a certain face as they tried to explain that the uncle wasn’t able to make it, that the aunt was offworld. As she grew older, as was the established policy of her family, Gyminora would be given over to several tutors for an education which they saw was required as a continuance of the economics that the Suerda family was known for.

Such tutorships would continue poorly, as the young girl could understand the history, could understand most of the writing and all the concepts behind it, could understand most of the mathematics, yet struggled with the concepts of maneuvering one’s opponents, of socially engineering the opposition, the basics of manipulation. The mass movements of populations insofar as supply and demand, of how to create demand artificially by introducing certain trends and concepts, and things of that sort would come easier to Gyminora than the individual persons, something which was encouraging to her parents yet still unacceptable. They dealt with the upper echelons of society in the government, something which required the careful, personal touch, and though employing their daughter in manipulating the mass market was an option they were still unwilling to give leave to such a thing without their daughter having some method in dealing with individuals. As such, at a young age of twenty-four, Gyminora would be placed in the role of a quartermaster aboard one of the merchant vessels in Suerda service and sent-off on mercantile missions into the Galactic Core, the idea being to force the young woman into developing her capabilities.

She would spend nearly a decade in that role, eventually coming into her own in dealing with others as well as captaining her own merchantman. Gyminora would develop contacts and friends in the government, military, and civilian sectors in multiple areas of Core space by virtue of her honesty; when purchasing cargo and goods, moving passengers from one system to another, or ruling over prices for repair work, she generally made honest appraisals, undercutting competition wherever possible, and listening to her own engineers and repairmen whenever technical matters would arise. She would also make multiple contacts and friends within the Erro captaincy, in part due to her reliability, in part due to her natural connections within Core governments. Gyminora’s profits, however, would not grow as quickly as most others in similar positions, something which would give concern to her parents and family. While honest, capable, and knowledgeable, they saw her as easily manipulated, easily led, and still incapable of the careful, personal touch they had needed in the first place. As a result, they kept their daughter in the merchant fleets, actively blocking her attempts to establish any sort of permanent infrastructure on any Erro worlds.

Gyminora would instead, after two years longer of working beyond the borders of the Erro, take measures to gain some sort of foothold in the Erro territories; viewing her family as having effectively exiled her, their greed outstripping any sort of blood ties, she took on a number of false names, identities, and shell companies to bankroll a number of projects in the Chamia and Patria Sectors, as well as to apply as a lower-level chemical project administrator in the Patria Sector on Vura. This would go successfully, as her competition at the time was a well-entrenched, but unsuccessful, administrator. Gyminora would slowly bring a number of foreign agents into the fold, financing herself with a number of land exchanges with the understanding that the foreign agents would, after building up a certain specified facility, own a large percentage of the earnings for that factory. Through this method, she largely expanded the profits from the project, lessened the logistical costs from having to move the raw materials to processing facilities, as well as gaining some sort of name as an effective leader within the local Erro business community. Her operations on Vura would continue for twelve years, continuing as a project administrator as expanding her interests into a number of extraction projects, further streamlining the system as a whole as a steadily expanding merchant fleet enabled Gyminora to greatly limit costs. This would give some leeway to the young woman to begin undercutting competition on several other worlds, subsuming their operations and gaining attention from the Sector leadership.

This attention, as well as a small number of bribes here and there, would eventually give her an upper level position within the Sector as an industrial overseer. By this time her family had largely been removed by the anti-corruption initiative by the Autarch or rendered impotent, allowing Gyminora to begin operations all the way to Mursa. Her skill and capability in organizing large groups of people, managing the projects and the various timelines, in generally directing a large slice of the economic output of the Sector, and her lack of notable corruption had caught the eye of Autarch Augus, who thereby took the woman under his wing in the Federal Government itself as an advisor. He was getting old and tired of the role, getting more interested in training an apprentice, and needed someone who would continue his efforts in removing the less desirable members of the upper class. As expected, Gyminora accepted the idea wholeheartedly. She would, after two decades of work under the Augus, take on the mantle as Autarch.

Since then, she has continued to expand the economies of the Erro, to develop a wide-ranging service of inspectors and investigators to keep the interior of the nation safe from foreign infiltrators, corrupted officials, and the general mismanagement of planets, as well as begin a number of policies to restore the capabilities of the Erro military.
