Name: Jesse O'Hara
Age: 36
Nation of birth: USA
Silent? Yes
Occupation: Struggling PI
Moral Alignment: Neutral good
Height: 185 cm
Weight: 75 kg
Appearance:

Character history:
Jesse is born and raised in Chicago and is an Irish worker through and through. As a young adult he was a simple warehouse worker, but when WWII came along in '41 he volunteered to join the military. Despite the horrors of war that he experienced, he felt that he had a purpose for the first time. He wasn't just existing and floating around, his life had a meaning. Even as a small cog, he played a part in the fight against evil. That insight inspired him to join the police force when he came home in '45. He'd killed his share of Nazis already, now he was ready to go after the mafiosos of his hometown. However, he was perhaps too honest for his own good. The Mafia had officers on their payroll, and as dedicated as Jesse was, he could really count himself lucky that he was only fired and accused of corruption a year ago. Alive, but dead inside...

Not only did he loose his job, he found out that his wife was cheating on him. When confronted, she admitted right away and as if that wasn't enough she left him for her lover and took their kids with them, since, as she said, Jesse "couldn't provide for them anymore". This of course made him further disillusioned.

He then decided to start his own PI agency, but business is slower than a snail on valium. He can hardly even afford to pay for his office if it continues like this much longer. However, he recently found a mask in the form of an eye patch lying on the ground. Jesse has always been the curious type, the "I wonder what happens if I press this big red button" kind of guy, so naturally he picked it up (another partial reason might be that he really dislikes littering...). He tried it on at home, after having cleaned it. He liked it, somehow wearing the patch made him feel alive and confident again, almost like during the war or when he was fresh out of the police academy. The only problem...

The mask turns him into a woman.

Personal goals: Get his life back on track.
Silent Power: Turns into a beautiful woman with snake tattoos. Said snake tattoos can be come alive and be used as his minions.

Appearance:

Limitation/drawback: He's a newbie, and isn't used yet to having a different body, especially not a female one. The more snakes he creates at once the less he can control them or share their hive mind. Especially if he doesn't command them to come back for a longer time.

For Silent Characters only

Durability
(how hard you can get hit without taking significant damage): 5

Silent Power Strength (raw power level of the silent ability): 5

Name: Willis Philips
Age: Mid 20s
Nation of birth: United States
Silent? (yes or no): yes
Occupation: Exiled Cultist
Moral Alignment: Neutral Evil
Height: 5'9
Weight: 135 pounds
Appearance (img in spoiler pls):
https://pin.it/5yX7Iw8

Character history: Born in the city of San Francisco, son of a single mother. Willis always was interested in the occult at a young age. He'd make pentagons with dead rats and roadkills while chanting trigonometry in order to summon a "friend" for him(the only thing he managed to summon was his incredibly disappointed parents).

After graduation(dropping out of uni), Willis' hippie friends introduced him to the Peoples Temple church and their enigmatic leader, Jim Jones. With seeming supernatural charisma, Jones' followers grew in size, entranced by the teachings and promises of true enlightenment.

Inside Jonestown, Willis was often subjugated to mental and physical abuse, lived in overcrowded and cramped bunkrooms where at night rats would scuttle underneath. Dysentery was common, and the labor, backbreaking. Worst, Willis was cut off from the world and missed the news of his mother's passing. Jones would often whip his followers, and invite young teens to his "palace" at night. Willis has had enough.

One night, while a massive drunken orgy was taking place in the camp, Willis paid Jones a visit. It was almost too easy. The man was sprawled on the ground, glassy-eyed and mumbling incoherently as Willis pressed the trigger.

There was a mask somewhere, and in the heat of the moment, Willis took it. He just didn't expect it to be cursed.

Personal goals: Find out more about the masks, his powers, and Silents.
Silent Power (if applicable):
Animation: Animate and change the state of objects, giving them the “spark of life”, by the will of the user.
Glamour: Super charisma, makes people see visions.
An Example:
You wave your hand and you say, “These aren’t the droids you’re looking for.”
The stormtrooper says to his boys, “These aren’t the droids we’re looking for.”
“Move along, move along.”

Limitation/drawback:
Makes no sense:
1. People with high intelligence will be more resistant to change from Animation.
2. Change is also unpredictable sometimes, such as animated objects developing personalities.
Rot:
1. People with high resolve will be more resistant to Glamour.
2. Gets sick depending on the amount of Glamour usage.

For Silent Characters only

Power levels, divide 25 points among these five attributes. The human baseline for each of the attributes is a 1, for an example, a 5 is the minimum durability for your Silent to be bulletproof. At ten points they can take tank shells with ease.
Durability : 2
Intelligence (how well you use your power): 5
Silent Power Strength (raw power level of the silent ability): 10
Telepathy (how well you can communicate with other silents): 4
Resolve (How hard is it to keep you down): 4

Sure, maoist china exists. I would hope you have a logical way to get them to chicago. but if you want to tell a stand alone story of something in China, then I'm okay with that as well.

Maybe a similar route to comrade definitely not a communist John Smith. If he does go to Chicago he might have a backstory similar to Larry. Get hired by Chinese intelligence, get hired by American consulate as a translator and eventually join the CIA or FBI

Name: Christopher Liu (Liu Bao Rui)
Age: 35
Nation of birth: People's Republic of CHina
Silent? (yes or no): Yes
Occupation:CIA Agent(CID agent)
Moral Alignment: Neutral good
Height: 5' 9"
Weight: 163 lbs
Appearance (img in spoiler pls):

Character history: Liu Bao Rui was born in the city of Nanjing in 1921, the same year as the CPC was founded. His father was a school teacher while his mother stayed at home to take care of him and his three other siblings. There was nothing truly special from his childhood as his parents did everything they could to provide him and his siblings. At the age of 10, as a present for his birthday, his father would gift him an English book, which he used to learn English at an early age.

In 1937, when the second Sino-Japanese war broke out, Bao Rui's oldest brother would enlist in the National Revolutionary Army while the rest of his family fled alongside the government to the rural countryside. It was during his time spent in the countryside that he would be first introduced to communism and the Communist Party of China. He would officially join the communist party in 1944, and due to his ability to speak English, he was recruited by the CDSA and was directed to find employment among either the British or American government. In 1945, with the conclusion of the war, he would return to Nanjing to finish his higher education, before finding a job as a translator at the American consulate in Shanghai. During his time as a translator for the American consulate, he would send classified documents to the CDSA. It was also during this time working at the consulate that he picked up his American name, Christopher.

In 1949, with the liberation of Shanghai near, the CDSA would order him to evacuate along with the Americans to further his intelligence gathering. During the voyage to Hong Kong, he would discover a strange mask tucked away among his luggage. At first, he feared that someone had tampered with his belongings and may have discovered sensitive material that he had stored in his suitcase. After checking his luggage multiple times and finding nothing missing, he would immediately place it back into his suitcase. Once he reached Hong Kong, he would report back to the CDSA about his discovery, causing a debate on whether to recall him back to China and conscript him into the army or for him to continue his espionage mission. Thankfully for Christopher, it was decided that he would continue his espionage mission and was ordered to remain in Hong Kong, while they sent someone else to help him better understand his newfound powers.

In 1950, with the start of the Korean war, Christopher was recruited as a translator for the American Army. During his time as a translator, he would try to do his best to hinder the American war effort, without blowing his cover. He would try to give faulty information along with using his silent powers to slow down the American troop movement. In 1952, with the conclusion of the American war, he would move to America (with the blessing of the CDSA of course) where he would formally apply for the CIA.

Personal goals: Help the CPC and get enough money or favor to comfortably retire and hopefully not get purged anytime soon.
Silent Power (if applicable): Water manipulation.
Limitation/drawback: He cannot create water, only manipulating what is already there. The more water that he attempts to manipulate, the more tiring it becomes.

For Silent Characters only

Hey there,

couple of notes. First, this universe has an established alternate history. I appreciate the creativity to want to use youre NS nation as the home for your character, but in this universe, for continuity's sake Soveineisberg doesn't exist. Second, youre character history is a little lacking. I'd prefer some inclusion of major events in his life beyond just where he lived and why he joined the mafia. As well as some explanation as to why he is now in Chicago would be nice. I can see where you're going with the character, and I welcome him in concept, but I can't accept the application in its current state.

Nation of birth: Russian
Silent? (yes or no): nah

Moral Alignment: Lawful Chaotic
Height: 6-foot-1-inch
Weight: a measly 120 pounds
Appearance (img in spoiler pls): terribly greasy black hair, and not too tall, other than that he seems normal enough

Character history: Born in '27, he was born to a terribly poor family in Vladivostok, and joined the Russian Mafia to support his family by gaining money through crime. Somehow escaping being drafted into WW2 near the end of it, he robbed 3 banks in December of 1945, getting a lot of cash. He figured the police were after him, so he escaped to the only place in American he had heard of, Chicago, by plane flight. It cost him all he had, and now he needs enough money to get back to his home, So, he may rob a FEW banks here and there. He also speaks decent english, good enough to understand, somehow.
Personal goals: avoiding police and also gaining enough money to take a plane flight home

Name: Federico Syracusa(true name)
Gregor Samsa(main alias with Silent contacts)
Multiple other names
Age: 30(b. 21st February 1926)
Nation of birth: United States of America
Silent?(yes or no): Yes
Occupation: Con artist/socialist revolutionary
Moral Alignment: Chaotic good
Height: Varies depending on subject of metamorphosis
Weight: Varies depending on subject of metamorphosis
Appearance: Has no fixed appearance due to their Silent Power which granted the ability to shapeshift into any humanoid creature, at the cost of being left physically featureless without the mask. Mimics the appearance of Franz Kafka with a thick beard in the form "Gregor Samsa", among innumerable other individuals at various moments for the purposes of subterfuge and recreation.
Character history:
Federico Syracusa was born in the South Side of Chicago on 21st February 1926 to working-class Sicilian parents. Both of their parents were devout socialists, prolific members of the Socialist Party of America and then Communist Party USA, as well as members of the International Workers of the World. Federico had difficulties at school due to bullying brought on by their ethnicity, "feminine" behaviour, and intellectual nature, causing them to withdraw into whatever literature they could get their hands on. They ultimately achieved high grades in all subjects and through money earned and saved by both them and their parents, Federico began attending the University of Chicago in order to become a lawyer and eventually a writer, impressing interviews with their oratorical skills and general knowledge in spite of their low class status. Federico's aspirations however would be obliterated as the increasing paranoia of the oncoming Red Scare Era would result their explusion from UC in 1947 due to revealed former membership in the Communist Party and the discovery of Federico's romantic affairs with men, with Federico being bisexual.

Left barred from higher education, unemployed, and humiliated by an intolerant, repressive society, Federico suffered a complete mental breakdown and was forcibly interred in Chicago State Hospital. It was at this darkest moment that in the drawer of the desk in their infimary room that Federico discovered a strange mask, smooth and frictionless to the touch, and shimmering with a changing palette of colours. As they donned the mask they felt it as it merged and molded onto their face, smoothing it into a blank clean slate for Federico's new future. As this happened a nurse entered and screamed in horror at the faceless Federico, whose face upon sight of the nurse morphed and reconfigured into that of the nurse, who in a moment flight or fight instinct knocked out the nurse with a sudden sucker punch and ran like a frightened gazelle out into the corridor of the facility, hiding in a bathroom where they first witnessed their craft of their mimicry. After regaining some semblance of composure Federico snuck into a muster station and donned nurse's garb, and escaped the facility in plain sight for the first time in two months.

After fleeing down the West Forest Preserve Drive and resting under a tree, Federico began feeling their unfamiliar new face when upon pressing behind their jaw their face suddenly reshaped again, as the mask separated from Federico's face, which upon touch was once again was left featureless except for a lipless mouth and faint nose, possessing a form of black and white blind-sight without eyes. Federico came the terrifying conclusion that without the mask they no longer had a face. Desperately they donned the mask and attempted to manifest their old face from memory to no avail. Looking upon a distant stranger and attempting the same came with immediate success. It was truly then that Federico realised that they never left hospital, the nurse did. The new question asked was "Who was Federico Syracusa?", and James Kennedy, an unmarried Irish-American trucker driving towards Central Chicago answered this question, "They are whoever they want to be!".
Personal goals: To continue avoiding the attention of the FBSS, covertly help the cause of minority rights including those of Silents, and ultimately to live life.
Silent Power (if applicable):
Ability to shapeshift and mimic any creature of humanoid shape.
Mask adopts the appearance of the creature being mimicked.
Can change personal mass by absorbing organic material to increase mass, or expelling mass into an organic flesh ball for later reabsorption.
Can heal wounds by absorbing organic matter.
Limitation/drawback:
Requires organic matter such as food or flesh to add mass and can lose dispelled mass, leaving them at reduced size until sufficient matter can be found to replace what is lost.
Lacks all facial and bodily features when not wearing the Mask, and cannot adopt their original appearance. Can only see in black and white and limited range without wearing mask.

The Unthinkable Timeline wrote:Name: Federico Syracusa(true name)

Cannot shapeshift when wounded and must be in healthly condition in order to change appearance.
For Silent Characters only

Name: Charlotte Bergman-Schultz
Age: 32 (Born August 15th, 1924)
Nation of birth: United States (Bronx, New York City)
Silent? (yes or no): No
Occupation: Bartender/Associate of South Side
Moral Alignment: Chaotic Good
Height: 5'9"
Weight: 147lbs

Character history:
The witty, passionate bartender and manager of The Raven has spent much of her life tied to the night. She was born to a conservative Jewish family during a hot summer night. While her mother, Edith, expected her to live a normal life much like her three older brothers, Charlotte had other plans. Admiring her father, Chaim, in his ability to provide for the household by selling moonshine on the down-low, she began to imitate him. She would dress masculine to school, and had an interest in firearms and fighting, both of which landed her in trouble frequently as a child. Even as a very bright student who had no troubles making friends, her temper often boiled over when she was provoked.

Then, when she was in the fourth grade, her mother died of scarlet fever. The death of her mother, for whom she cared deeply, left a deep impact on young Charlotte. She attempted to tend to her mother’s body before it was prepared for the funeral, leading to her first true fight with her father. Yet Chaim remained the biggest influence in his beloved daughter’s life, and one to whom she still clung. Her attachment to him, however, led her to her first experience of gang life, as she one day found the Tommy gun hidden in his trunk.

Thoughts of mobs and gangsters fell to the wayside, however, with the outbreak of World War 2. Too young to serve, but refusing to stay in school, 15-year-old Charlotte would make guns in a factory in New York City for pay. When her father found himself in trouble with the law, he swept the family away to Chicago, and there he continued his work while she continued hers. While the work of building firearms in a factory was hard and tedious, and she often worked extra shifts into the night to make money, she enjoyed using her hands for work which would protect her country and her family-at least two of her relatives were found after the war to have died at the hands of Nazis in Germany.

After the war, her desire for independence pushed her to seek a job at The Raven. Despite being only 21, she managed to charm her fellow co-workers with her sharpshooting attitude and her jovial nature. Yet most of all, she had refused to take a job from her father, wanting to show him that she could be a provider of her own. It was while working at The Raven that she came in contact with politicians, mobsters, and any other number of figures with whom she eventually found connections. Her father’s association with South Side meant that she could easily have the ear of members of The Outfit, though she preferred to simply remain neutral and to learn about all parties involved in The Hand.

At some point during her time working at The Raven, she met Rozalin Harkner, a British-born nurse who moonlighted as a drag performer. Their unorthodox personalities and interested brought them to becoming fast friends, with each of them sharing a loving loyalty to the other. Joining their group not long after would be Anselm McKinney, a wandering WW2 vet who needed a job. He became The Raven’s bouncer, with Charlotte’s help, and thus the three became a tight-knit group.

Her attitude toward Silents has always been welcoming, and she especially admired Titaness and her stories of her battles in the Pacific Theatre. She also had heard stories about The Blue Bolt, whom for some time she had no idea was the handsome Canadian lieutenant her best friend brought in to help find work. In the midst of her growing closer to him, she found herself finally caught in the nightly web of facing evils from possibly another world, after an accidental meeting with Carter Knight.

As compassionate as she is strong-tempered, Charlotte takes the stance of being a binding force between friends. The Raven is her nest, and her “conspiracy” of friends is her priority. She will go to enormous lengths to protect both her business and her friends, and while she prefers to keep as their quiet place to land in the background, she has no problems calling for guns and fists from somewhere in the shadows as well. She is also excellent at reading others, and her keen eye may as well be a Silent Power in itself…

Personal goals: To protect her business, to protect her friends, to develop her relationship further with Frank MacArthur.
Silent Power (if applicable): N/A
Limitation/drawback: While Charlotte is an excellent crack-shot with any number of firearms, and is a powerful friend and lover, her temper can lead to her becoming violent with those who try to harm anyone in her inner circle. She smokes heavily when nervous, and sometimes has to check herself from making rash decisions. For better and for worse, she has a murderous hatred of Carter Knight.

Character history:

Born the seventh child to a poor family in the Texas bayou, she was raised to always get the scraps of what was available to the family. Her six brothers would always eat before her. They would get clothes before her. She would be forced to wear their hand me downs, and her mother would cut her hair short. Leading to getting called many names by the few others she engaged with. Living so deep in the bayou she never attended school. Not formally at least. Her mother taught all of the children basic reading and arithmetic, but hardly anything more substantial than that. Not for lack of Niella trying. Attempts that would lead to her stealing books to read. Theft that was met with beatings. Only for her parents to turn around, take the book she stole, sell it and pocket the money for use around the house. Which she herself saw little of. One of her older brothers was the one who accidentally called her "Null" one day, and it stuck to her because of how little she got once everyone else had their fill.

While her mother was cold, she at least tried to provide for her children. Niella's father was a covetous, aggressive, drunkard. He provided for the family by brewing moonshine and selling it illegally in nearby towns. Or at least selling what is left after he's had his fill day in and day out. The man got so drunk one evening he even shot his own son because the poor boy dropped a plate. The loud sound "scared off the fish" he rambled in his drunken stupor. He had not been fishing that evening. And the next day when he awoke, sober yet hungover, he showed little remorse for his actions.

Niella's brothers all left home or died over the years. The ones that survived ran from their father as soon as they could get a job or enlist. Niella was left alone with her parents at the age of fourteen. She had hoped it would mean that she would get a better share, as her brothers left. But instead her parents just hoarded or sold it all for themselves. She barely saw an extra crumb. That was the least of her cares though. As her father only got worse. Day, after day. Niella learned how to wraps wounds well. After a shard of thrown glass sliced open her mother's arm, more than once, she learned quickly how to tend to such wounds. Even learning how to weave bandage cloth. This was the start of her fascination with blood as well. Niella has cuts that run up and down her arms. One would think she harms herself. And with her home life, few wouldn't be able to see why. But the scars aren't for the sake of self harm. But rather ravenous obsessive intrigue. As she herself would describe it, she "Just likes watching the blood flow."

One day her father was particularly ornery. A thrown bottle didn't lead to a cut on her mother's arm. It led to a shard embedded into her neck. Niella tried to save her mother. Wrapping the bandages around her neck and doing all she could. But the gash was far too massive. It was only after the light left her mother's eyes that her blood fascination took over. She stared as the bandage in her hands. Soaked through with blood that it was dripping. It called to her. She could almost hear the bandage speak. She pressed the bloodied bandage against her face. Reveling in the feeling. Not realizing what she had even done in the moment. It was only when she felt the bandage grow that she realized that it was wrapping around her head. Mummifying her head in blood soaked wrappings, covering all but her nose and mouth. She was a Silent, and he bandage, had become her mask. She used her newfound power to kill her father as well. Not out of ill will or revenge. But out of pure desire to see him bleed.

When she took that mask off, and it had returned to being a simple bandage, she looked at what she had done. She was confused, as any young fourteen year old would be in such an instance. She felt good. She felt empowered and full of joy for the first time in her life. Yet, she also felt awful for feeling this way. Like she loved what she had done but she knew it was bad, at the same time. She left, fled with all she could carry. And burned her childhood home to the ground on the way out. She headed north, and after two years of walking, she is finally reaching Chicago. Intending to pass through on her way as far north as she can possibly go.

Personal goals: Head north, Find kinship, understand her destructive emotions and desires.
Silent Power (if applicable): blood manipulation- can control, shape, store, and alter the properties of blood. She controls her own blood, as well as blood she has stolen and stored from the bodies of corpses. She must absorbed the blood into her own body before she can weild it as a weapon or defensive tool.

Limitation/drawback: if she uses too much blood should could take serious harm to her body. while wearing her mask she must consciously pump her own blood. making her ability to focus on combat never reach 100% beyond a few seconds long bursts.

For Silent Characters only

Power levels, divide 25 points among these five attributes. The human baseline for each of the attributes is a 1, for an example, a 5 is the minimum durability for your Silent to be bulletproof. At ten points they can take tank shells with ease.

Intelligence (how well you use your power): 7
Silent Power Strength (raw power level of the silent ability): 7
Telepathy (how well you can communicate with other silents): 3
Resolve (How hard is it to keep you down): 5
