With Dawson going the opposite direction, the rest of you start following Corvius's directions, as well as the map he provided you with. The quest has begun!

The first day of the journey, nothing out of the ordinary, just lush green forestry and nature.
Day two, there is a rustling from the bushes. (Alright, everyone. Roll for initiative)

"Who goes there? Show thy self!" Lee called Drawing his sword to fight whatever nay be in the brush.

Dawson walked into the Motown hall, intending to catch up with the others. Approaching the front desk he asked “Hello, we were wondering if you could help us with some information about a merchant in the marketplace? A Mr. Corvius Goldenwood.”

"I think we might have ourselves a goblin...more than likely several."

Urtrumash draws his greataxe

Alright, the order is as follows: Lee, the unknown enemy (which I will reveal) and Urtrumash.

“Well, he looked distressed so we were offered to see if we could help him. He wants us to assist him with collecting a magic item from his brother in the south, but we feel a bit uneasy about the situation. There are 6 others that have gone on ahead to assist but we wanted to check with you in the town hall first. It is possible you knew something we didn’t that might help provide insight or history into the situation”.

Elden followed the group out of town and down the wooded path that lead to Courtside South. For unknown reasons, a small group decided to poke around in Courtside North a bit more. Maybe they wanted to find a different quest that would net them a larger prize purse, or maybe they wanted more info on the current task. Either way, the Ranger was concerned about the task at hand.

A rustling in the grass ahead hinted at possible danger. While a few party members drew their weapons for an attack, Elden dropped back a bit. Drawing an arrow from the quiver, he placed it on the string. Once the goblins showed themselves, he took aim and let loose an arrow..

“I hope so as well. Where was he last seen?” Dawson asked, a bit concerned. The merchant seemed a bit off and now the mayor is missing. The two events are likely unconnected but the town doesn’t seem to be doing well.

"He was last seen right in this room. He told me he was going out for lunch, but never came back"

“The plot just seems to keep getting thicker and thicker around here.” Asmodea quirked an eyebrow at news of the Mayor’s disappearance, she wondered if it was tied in some way toward this mysterious artifact. The merchant certainly seemed to know more than he was letting on at the beginning, which should’ve been a given since he’d hired adventurers instead of official guardsmen for this task. “First all the fog around this item and now it’s a bleeding missing person’s case on top of it.”
