Separation from the Crown would've happened by gradual change and the eventual signing of a treaty, ending the rule of the crown in Canada and letting Canada remain in the Commonwealth.

The Republic is shaped similar to the US government, with Executive, Legislative, and Judicial branches.

The President is elected by direct vote to a 5 year term. A Prime Minister is elected by the President for the Parliament.

The legislature is still Parliament. The PM oversees the Parliament and acts like a vice president.

So you directly state here that a treaty is signed. As others have mentioned, a treaty isn't needed. Republics are allowed in the Commonwealth of Nations. A sizeable majority of the Commonwealth is Republics, after all. So ending the monarchy is simply a referendum vote to establish a new form of governance.
For: Israel, Palestine, Kurdistan, American Nationalism, American citizens of Guam, American Samoa, Puerto Rico, Northern Mariana Islands, and US Virgin Islands receiving a congressional vote and being allowed to vote for president, military, veterans before refugees, guns, pro choice, LGBT marriage, plural marriage, US Constitution, World Peace, Global Unity.

Against: Communism, Socialism, Fascism, Liberalism, Theocracy, Corporatocracy.

A Paramilitary force known as the Jabhat-Al'Iislamia (Jabhat aldifae alfidraliat al'iislamia, or Islamic Federal Defense Front) is one of the largest portions of Sudan's armed forces. Standing strength is 102,500 fighters. Jabhat-Al'Iislamia is organized along 205 regiments of 500 poorly equipped but highly motivated fighters. Each regiment is almost universally known for their bright green and red striped Motorcycles with sidecars, often with the passenger wielding a Rocket Propelled Grenade. Roughly 250 motorcycles are given to each regiment for two fighters each. The force also assist the local police in pursuits of criminals and keeps order in highly controversial areas of the country with histories of religious violence.

Alliances (If different from IRL): Sudan has had historic ties with the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics and it's eventual successor state, the Union of Soviet Sovereign Republics. These are mostly based off of increased military aid and humanitarian assistance in the form of food shipments to the country. In return, Sudan grants the Soviet Union a military port off the coast of the Red Sea for the Soviet Navy to utilize.

History Changes (Subject to review and approval by OP and Co-OP): In 1971 the Sudanese Communist Party's Abdel Khaliq Mahjub led a military coup that overthrew the government of Gaafar Nimeiry. The new regime sought and received numerous weapons via the Soviet Union. During the ongoing Sino-Soviet split the SCP broke along pro-soviet and pro-chinese factions. In 1975, however, the pro-chinese faction lost influence following another military coup by Hashem al Atta, a strong proponent of the Soviet Union. The pro-Chinese faction would be purged violently following the military coup and sees close ties along with the delivery of many Soviet tanks and military equipment to Sudan during this time.

Sadiq al-Mahdi of the Ansar faith then leads a military coup on April 8, 1980 with his followers and establishes the General Committee of Just Laws and Practices as a military/religious junta headed by spiritual imams and backed by the Generals of the Sudanese Army. One of these generals, named Omar Al-Bashir, then seizes power from the General Committee on June 25, 1986. He immediately reforms the General Committee into a vastly powerful upper house known as the Loya Jirga of Sudan. In order to at least appeal to the lower classes for popular support and to prevent a possible end to his rule via Democratic methods, he establishes the lower house of the Constituent Military Assembly, later renaming it in 1989 to the Constituent Military Council.

At least on paper the two houses have some say in the day-to-day political proceedings. In actuality however, most of the country is managed by the President in co-ordination with the Loya Jirga of Sudan. The lower house has largely been left constitutionally toothless in a say in the day to day manners of governance, having only the power to Confirm legislation debated in the Loya Jirga. Should legislation proposed by the upper house be rejected by the lower house there are two options:
1. Reintroduce the legislation again with changes that would enable passage by the Constituent Military Council. Legislation can only be re-introduced two additional times. On the second appeal's rejection the Loya Jirga must move onto the next item on the agenda.
2. Request the intervention of the President of the Islamic Republic of Sudan, who can either mediate the situation or propose the bill himself as a work-around to an obstructionist filled Constituent Military Council.

The President himself can also propose legislation, and has done so numerous occasions, though he mostly leaves the Loyal Jirga of Sudan to craft legislation. The Constituent Military Council holds only the powers to impound at least 5 percent of the national budget during negotiations and contains at least some say in the way the Sudanese Military Industry Corporation receives state funding, and holds veto power over nominations of Ambassadors of Sudan to international bodies or other nation states, though this veto can be overridden by a plurality (50 of the 99 members) within the Loyal Jirga of Sudan.

'Commonwealth' and 'Commonwealth of Nations' can be used interchangeably. Nations who have Elizabeth II as their head of state are 'Commonwealth Realms', which sometimes can be used interchangeably with 'Commonwealth' but not 'Commonwealth of Nations'.

Is this still WIP?

It should be done, I just forgot to remove that part.

I would guess the OP only wanted me to add it to the app for reference. In that case it seems they are fine with it.

Per their agreement, the SNC and DFNS appointed an equal number of members. In reality, the DFNS packed their appointees with partisans hailing from the Democratic Nation List (LND), an umbrella group of 18 leftist political parties including many ethnic minority parties, and the Syrian National Democratic Alliance (TWDS), while the SNC filled their seats with partisans from the liberal Movement for Justice and Development in Syria (MJDS), members of the Syrian National Coalition, some members of the Syrian National Council, and the leftist National Coordination Committee for Democratic Change (NCC).

GDP (PPP): $136 billion
Currency: Syrian pound (SYP)

Military Information: The Syrian Armed Forces are now overwhelmingly made up of divisions from the Free Syrian Army (FSA) and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), with Assad-era soldiers from the Syrian Armed Forces vetted and investigated for prior crimes against humanity or war crimes. As such, the final numbers are in flux. At the time of the conclusion of the Syrian Civil War, the FSA numbered around 50,000, while the SDF numbered around 150,000, while the Syrian Armed Forces were numbered at around 142,000 active personnel and 50,000 paramilitary personnel, though desertions and defections near the conclusion of the Syrian Civil War means specific numbers are currently unavailable. That being said, the Transitional Authority has committed to drawing down the militias and paramilitary groups, while iterating that they hope to have around 120,000 active personnel once all is said and done.

With regards to hardware, the Syrian Air Force post-Civil War now possess 403 aircraft, of which there are 150 fighters, 18 dedicated attack planes, 5 transports, 67 trainers, 134 helicopters, and 27 attack helicopters; the Navy was untouched, maintaining 56 total vessels, of which there are 33 patrol vessels and 7 mine warfare vessels; and the Syrian Army has 3,614 surviving tanks, 5,017 armored vehicles, 520 self-propelled artillery pieces, 2,187 towed artillery pieces, and 538 rocket projectors.

Alliances: Arab League

History Changes: Leading up to the 2011 Civil War, everything has remained the same. Unlike in this timeline, the Syrian National Council doesn't split from the Syrian National Coalition (SNC) and its Interim Government in 2013 when they sat down for talks with the Assad regime, ensuring that the foreign opposition doesn't fracture. In 2015, as with this timeline, the Syrian Democratic Forces declares northern Syria to be autonomous from the rest of Syria, embarking on a democratic experiment that was reminiscent of the Swiss model. Tensions did persist between the SDF and the Syrian National Coalition, though in this timeline, the two factions manage to maintain communication and relations, avoiding a breakdown in relations that would lead to a Turkish-backed SNC advancing into territory held by the SDF.

In this timeline, in January 2017, the SNC and the SDF would send their respective representatives to Amman, which both parties considered neutral ground. There, the two would hammer out the framework of an alliance to coordinate a response against ISIL, which they both viewed as an existential threat in their bids against the Assad regime. In this timeline, rather than seize Raqqa by themselves, the SDF is joined by fighters from the Free Syrian Army (FSA) in the four month siege lasting from June 6 - October 17, 2017. Taken off guard by the cooperation of the two factions, the Assad regime overplays its hand and sends troops to assault SDF positions near Afrin and the joint SDF-FSA positions near Raqqa, shortly after the Assad regime's own brutal victory in Deir ez-Zor against ISIL that November. While the Afrin front maintained its position, the Raqqa front repelled the regime's forces. Emboldened by these successes, the SNC and the political leadership of the Democratic Federation of Northern Syria (DFNS) built on the Amman Agreement.

In January 2018, the DFNS and the SNC declared that in the event the Assad regime was toppled, the two would enter into a political agreement to establish a transitional authority. Both had to compromise: the DFNS/SDF would instead settle for a federal republic, as opposed to the direct democracy canton system, and would publicly and privately guarantee Turkey that it wouldn't fund Kurdish groups in Turkey, and the FSA would allow the SDF to maintain their control of Raqqa in exchange for FSA forces being granted free movement throughout SDF controlled territory, while adopting some of the DFNS's more progressive policies, and they promised to give SDF officers positions in the new Syrian military once the civil war was ended.

With the foreign recognition and resources of the SNC and the military prowess of the SDF, the new coalition, the Democratic Front of Syria, worked in tandem to repel the Assadist forces from Afrin. Ultimately, the regime's forces were pushed back, but aside from a few more territorial gains in northern Syria that would connect the disparate territory of the DFNS, the united opposition and the forces of the regime were stuck in a war of attrition. The climax of the civil war would come in mid-2018, when the Democratic Front of Syria lobbied hard with the United States, Turkey, the EU, and the Arab League for diplomatic and military support. While they gave their own assurances, they were very clear that they could not provide any overt military support while the USSR maintained its support for the Assad regime. Left with little choice, the Democratic Front of Syria made diplomatic overtures to the USSR. The opposition's representatives suggested that they could offer what Assad could not: stability. The opposition argued that the Assad model clearly could not work any longer, as it had sparked multiple rebellions and uprisings that threatened not just the region's stability, but the USSR's interests as well, as was indicative of the rise of ISIL. The opposition promised the USSR that if they did not support the Assad regime in whatever came next, the Democratic Front would remain neutral when it came to disputes between Washington and Moscow, and they further promised that the Soviet base in Tarsus would be allowed to remain and that, should they come into government, they would not demand the punishment of Soviet soldiers who participated in war crimes or crimes against humanity in Syria.

The Soviets would ultimately agree to allow the chips to fall where they may, and withheld critical support from the Assad regime. The Western and Arab response came swiftly, though it varied from air support to the provision of military hardware, military trainers, and financial aid to the Democratic Front. With these developments, the war for Syria was renewed, and over the next year, united Democratic Front forces pushed against Assadist forces. By the end of 2019, in the face of new anti-regime protests, an emboldened armed opposition, and the lack of Soviet support, Assadist forces began to collapse, facing desertions and defections to the Democratic Front reminiscent of the early days of the 2011 uprisings that seemed a lifetime ago. In April 2020, the Assad family fled Damascus for refuge in the USSR, and the Chief of Staff of the Syrian Armed Forces negotiated the peaceful surrender of the remaining pro-regime forces. The hardest part was over, but with a war-torn nation, an economy in ruins, and the legacy of brutality at the height of the civil war, the new government's position is still tenuous. A new democratic and federal constitution was agreed to, and the framework of a Truth and Reconciliation Commission has been established, and the first democratic elections of the newly christened People's Federal Republic are to be held in 2022.

Elections are held every 18 years. For the upper house, Sudan is divided into 33 "Council-Area-States" which entitled to have three members each. One of the members is elected at-large by the people of the Area-State. Another is appointed, (with confirmation by the lower house) by the President himself and the remaining seat is held by a hereditary member which passes by the family, like the House of Lords in the UK. The 99-member Loya Jirga of Sudan is officially nonpartisan, though the party registration of individual members breaks down thusly:

76 National Congress
13 Sudanese Socialist Union

Constituent Military Council of Sudan
The Constituent Military Council of Sudan (297 total members, 165 elected via General and 132 elected via Corporal designations in seats)
For the lower house of the country, Sudan is divided into 5 main "General Provinces" managed by a Governor-General. Each General Province is sub-divided into 12 "Corporal Provinces". Each General Province is entitled to 33 seats each. All of the "Corporal Provinces" are granted 11 seats.

Which I did, to the extent that I could.

You didn't elaborate, though. Your "elaboration" is a grand total of six sentences, only ONE of which ACTUALLY covers the change. The way it covers the change is vague, providing no timeline for when this changes or the factors which drove the change, and involves actions which are not realistic or even necessary. A treaty isn't required for Canada to change from a monarchy to a Republic, a referendum and Constitutional Convention is.

A Republican system in Canada can be accepted. But it NEEDS to be elaborated upon. Not a simple sentence that raises more questions than it answers. You need to actually explain Who, What, When, Where, Why, and How. Otherwise no one will be willing to suspend their disbelief and accept the Republican Canada.
