I mean I have 9 tech rolls this turn thanks to Citizen-Scholars and T3 culture, but go off.

How do you calculate those odds, exactly?

They're pretty variable, depending on the actions of individuals. Essentially everyone pulls from a "world tech advancement pool", since I only have the bandwidth to balance a low but variable amount of new innovations every update. Creating entirely new technologies pulls less, whereas innovating something other people have already invented pulls more. Obviously more tech rolls is more good. And then there's tech copying, which doesn't pull from advancements at all, but proceeds at a set rate.

So, if five people are all putting 20 tech rolls into innovating new technologies, and another person decides to put four tech rolls also into innovating a new technology, their chances of success aren't great - whereas if nobody else is pulling from that advancement pool, and you kick a single tech roll into it, you're all but guaranteed to succeed. They get the big slice of the pie, whereas previously they only got a 4 in 84 slice of the pie.

There are quite a few backend things that I keep inscrutable to conceal espionage, buildups to events, world trends, all that jazz - hence why I can't actually give you numbers - but that's the general gist.

Curious what people think about restarting after this era versus proceeding to the next one, whatever form that would take. I imagine this one will go another 20-30 turns anyway, but good to hear what people are thinking. I personally would love another go at the early eras and try to keep pace with G (and, potentially more importantly, re-theme my tribe to something I can write new stories around)
