Biography: Born July 2, 1971 in Pearl City, Hawaii to a Samoan mother and a Native Hawaiian father, Keanu Ionakana’s upbringing was an impoverished one, both of his parents working low wage custodial jobs at the Pearl Harbor naval base and struggling to afford to raise him and take care of his maternal grandparents at the same time. Resolving early into his life to improve upon the circumstances he was born into, Keanu looked to the same complex that his parents worked at as his ticket out, developing an obsession with the ships that moved in and out of harbor and resolving that one day he would be commanding one of them, not just watching from afar. He excelled in his early schooling, involving himself deeply in student government and other extracurriculars and graduating as Valedictorian from his high school, the result of hard work and a singular focus of being accepted into the U.S. Naval Academy with a full scholarship. Achieving this goal and attending the naval academy in 1989, Keanu’s affection for the American military and what it stood for blossomed tenfold, his interests stretching into politics for the first time in 1992 when he heavily supported the reelection campaign of President John G.W. Burke and became a card-carrying member of the Republican Party. His time in the academy would also spur his sexual awakening, though he would not publicly come out for some time and would marry Rose Cartman in 1994, shortly after his graduation as a naval officer.

Upon graduation, Keanu began his service as a surface warfare officer in the U.S. Pacific fleet, spending the next 17 years of his life quickly climbing the ranks through diligent service and astute leadership. Praised by commanding officers as an exemplary seaman, Ionakana became widely respected and viewed as a role model among the enlisted crew of whichever vessel he was aboard, though some fellow officers expressed a distaste at his propensity to “ass-kiss” and “show out” for higher command. In 2004, he would amicably divorce his wife, citing “mutual disagreements”, the couple having had no children and the pair remaining friends following their separation. Ionakana was in truth engaged in an affair with an enlisted sailor ten years his junior, and while the two kept their activity secret, Keanu’s wife would find out and agree that they would both be better served in the long run were they to separate. Regardless, his relationship with his subordinate ended shortly afterwards, as the two came dangerously close to being caught and Ionakana wished to preserve his career. The vast majority of his time in the navy would be spent in connection with the seventh fleet, where he would ultimately become commander of the USS Curtis Wilbur, a destroyer, in his 15th year of service. He would command the ship until his retirement from the armed forces. His childhood dream accomplished, Ionakana looked upwards, eyeing admiralty before his life took a turn in an interesting direction.

In 2010, Stephen Fitch, the congressman from Hawaii’s 1st congressional district, resigned from his seat, indicating that he intended to run for governor of Hawaii. The state GOP, having not yet settled around a serious candidate for the seat, scrambled to look for one, seeing an opportunity for an unexpected pickup in the face of two prominent democrats announcing in the first past the post jungle primary for the seat. A friend in the Hawaii GOP, with which Keanu was significantly acquainted through donations and various interpersonal associations, successfully recruited him to run for the seat after around a month of persuasion, convincing him that he would be able to propel himself into a position of significant influence over the state party were he to win and promising that he would be able to make a splash in DC. Upon agreeing and being honorably discharged from his position, Ionakana found himself to be a natural campaigner, finding that being in the spotlight appealed to him significantly and determining that politics was as easy a battlefield to navigate as the armed forces. He took to his newfound role with great enthusiasm and generated excitement about the state party, campaigning on a platform of fiscal conservatism and anti-tax sentiment while leaning into his military experience, and when the Special rolled around, he would claim victory with 41% of the vote, the other percentage split between the two Democrats in the race.

Upon entering congress, Ionukana’s brief tenure was marked by votes in favor of repealing Don’t Ask Don’t Tell, in support of the South Korean Free Trade Agreement, and in support of the DREAM Act. It was during his time in congress that he would meet Trey Ackerman at a charity fundraiser, a professional football player 13 years his junior who played as a tight end for the San Francisco 49ers. The two would enter a relationship shortly after meeting, though this would not be public knowledge at the time given both of them remained closeted. He would never leave a campaign footing during his time in the house, and would go into the regularly scheduled election with great optimism that he would be reelected. On election night in November, he would be defeated 51.7% to 48.3%. This defeat would be crushing for Ionakana, who believed his departure from the navy had been a grave mistake and who believed his political career had been severely stunted as a result of his loss.

6 months following his defeat, Keanu would give in to the persistent urging of Akerman and leave Hawaii, the two moving into a home together in the latter’s adoptive hometown of Temeluca, California. Keanu would take up a job as a lobbyist working on behalf of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, putting pressure on state and federal governments, regularly flying into DC, North Carolina, and Florida, and visiting with prior colleagues, including then Florida Governor Nate Richardson, while ensuring they remained acquainted with the interests of the various private consortiums he had adopted an affinity for. He acted in this capacity for a few years, his priorities shifting following the decisions in U.S. v. Windsor and Hollingsworth v. Perry. In the days following the announcements, Ionakana penned an Op-Ed in the New York Times coming out as gay and announcing his engagement to Akerman, urging the GOP to accept LGBT conservatives into the movement and writing that married gay couples were “no less likely to support limited government than straight ones”. Drawing mixed reactions, Ionakana was soon after approached to join the board of the Log Cabin Republicans, a position he accepted. Roughly a year later, he would be offered the Chairmanship, and he would accept.

As chair of the Log Cabin Republicans, Ionakana did his best to shape the organization into a political force, endorsing candidates in Republican primaries that were in large part conservative but quiet or sympathetic on issues of LGBT progress. Nate Richardson was among the prominent republicans befriended and bankrolled by the organization’s head as he attempted to channel influence, and as his reach expanded so too did a renewed interest in seeking public office himself. In 2015, a meal ticket showed itself shortly after his organization celebrated the victory in Obergefell v. Hodges.

With the looming ascendancy of Arnold Wolf, Keanu’s political instincts told him this was an opportunity in the making, at least for him. With no real record of social conservatism on LGBT issues, Wolf was perhaps the key to reforming the party from the inside on this issue in a permanent way, his more negative qualities aside. Having consolidated significant control over the Log Cabin R’s in the aftermath of his takeover, the former congressman provoked an internal revolt by endorsing Arnold Wolf shortly after Super Tuesday. A short power struggle ensued, with those opposed to Wolf losing out and being effectively expelled as Ionakana cemented his power and effectively transformed the group into a “Gays For Wolf” SuperPac and campaign booster. Drawing significant donations and the attention of Wolf himself, Ionakana befriended the man despite his private distaste for him and would be used as a campaign surrogate for the gay community on many occasions, both in person and on networks and podcasts. His loyalty and devotion to the Wolfist cause would not waver, even with the leak of the Wolf radio show tape, and his consistent support would be rewarded. When Wolf won, Keanu was one of the first to congratulate him, and the victorious President-Elect made clear that he would have a space in form of a comfortable ambassadorship for him.

Shortly into his term, Wolf would appoint Ionakana as Ambassador to New Zealand and Samoa, a role he would eagerly accept. His time as Ambassador would be relatively uneventful, being well received by New Zealand and spending more time than usual in Samoa, where he was subject to extensive praise.

In 2018, Ionakana would again be approached by a state party, this time the California GOP, to run in a vacant seat. This one was California’s 50th, and despite some objections from local activists, Ionakana resigned his position in Wellington and was swiftly endorsed by Wolf, which quieted opposition and allowed him to claim the top spot in the jungle primary easily. He would face significant opposition in the general but finish strong, securing a large percentage of the vote against a generic democratic challenger.

In 2020, Ionakana would face the same democratic challenger, but would find himself comfortably cruising to reelection both due to his own popularity in the district and the suburban coattails of the incoming President Richardson. Upon his victory, Richardson offered Ionaka numerous foreign policy positions, which he declined in favor of remaining in congress.

While in congress, Ionakana has been a proponent of fiscally conservative economic policy, criticizing Democrats for “unrealistic” ideas such as Medicare for all and other overarching social programs. He has opposed efforts to reduce military spending and has routinely called for a strong national defense. Ionakana has adopted a more hardline immigration policy since assuming office, opposing amnesty for illegal immigrants and speaking out against sanctuary cities. He has supported coverage for preexisting conditions but spoke out against the ACA, saying that the United States should focus on innovation and ingenuity and that government interference in the private sector is a “mistake more often than not”. He has called for a Flat Tax and a reduction in the corporate tax rate. He is conservative on the vast majority of issues including abortion, with exceptions being in cases of environmental protection and LGBT Rights.

Other Info: Outspoken supporter, friend, and ally of President Nate Richardson, to the point that their families are well acquainted and the two have had numerous outings together. Tennis fan and occasional player. Excellent signing voice. Scar down left arm as a result of an accident in 2001. Fluent in Japanese as a result of his time in Japan with the 7th Fleet. Serves on several significant committees, including Armed Services and Civil Rights/Civil Liberties. Married in 2014 with no children, husband took his last name. Obsessed with ships and boats of any and all kinds. Dabbled in fiction by writing a well received psychological horror novel called Dents, the story of a submarine captain on a secret mission in the Mediterranean who is slowly driven insane by the appearance of unexplainable dents in his ship. Muscular and attends the gym frequently. Frequent foil for LGBT Democrats.

I do not have a problem with this character as a concept. However, to have someone of her ethnic background active in the republican party on this level is exceedingly rare, and I would like some expanded background on what influenced her views/ideology, what convinced her to primary the person who helped her enter public office, and how she managed to win a republican primary in 2012 in an overwhelmingly white area either against either an incumbent, or against some other significant opposition that would doubtlessly go for the open seat. I am willing to accept her if these are adequately explained.

Character Application and Information Sheet

NS Nation Name: Cybernetic Socialist Republics
Character Name: Serah Kurian
Character Gender: Female
Character Age: 44 (June 21, 1976)
Character Height: 5'7
Character Weight: 136 Pounds
Character Position/Role/Job: Candidate Wisconsin Senate Special Election (2021), Representative for Wisconsin's 8th (2013-), State Senator for Wisconsin's 1st Senate District (2011-2013), State Assembly for Wisconsin's 2nd (2003-2011), Air Force Reserve (2000-), Aerospace Engineer (1999-2005)
Character Country/State of Birth: Wisconsin
Character State of Residence: Wisconsin
Character Party Affiliation: Republican (2002-), Reform (1999-2002)

Main Strengths and Weaknesses:

Sereh is an intelligent, photogenic woman that is unafraid of political confrontation and opportunistic behavior. These are characteristics, that have advanced her career and seen her develop a strong online following, but has also fed into her ego, which can lead to her overplaying her hand. Her notability also makes lightning rod for liberal ire, despite being, ideologically, very much a run of the mill republican with some technocratic leanings, even as she has her story of baptism in her youth to appeal to evangelicals. Combined, she has decent support from social conservatives and strong suburban appeal. Since her first foray into politics was outside of the two major parties, she also has a inkling of what swings and motivates voters alienated from both parties. An air force reserve woman and an strong advocate for the use of America's hard power, has also won her support among warhawks. The support she gets in one form, however can come back in significant opposition. Part of having a strong social media presence as a republican means aligning one's self with the trends of conservative youth, which has naturally made her culture warrior of a type that is particularly offensive to social liberals and naturally her advocacy for military power makes her run afoul of committed anti-war activists.

Biography:

Serah Kurian was born in Green Bay, Wisconsin on June 21st, 1976 to Nisha and Isaac Kurian, an educated Indian Christian couple that immigrated to Wisconsin from Kerala, India. Soon She was born, her father, educated as an engineer, would relocate the family to Virginia, where her father accepted a very well paying job in marine engineering. She'd grow up both very privileged and assured in her intelligence. Serah, despite being an excellent student, would frequently get into conflicts with peers, though she'd usually come out ahead. She would, however, develop an internal feelings of insecurity and emptiness, usually quenched by praise from others. Originally. she intended to simply follow in her father's foot steps by pursuing a career in STEM, graduating with high honors in aerospace engineering from MIT. However, during her studies, she'd get baptized and adopt a strong evangelical Christian faith, which would be followed by feeling a calling to serve her country through the military and then politics.

As such, after graduating she would move back to Wisconsin and join the Air Force Reserve, being among the air force's first drone pilots, even as she worked for as a independent contractor in the aerospace engineer field outside of reserve duties. Her political career had began in 1999 with her joining the reform party to help (non-Buchanan) win the nomination of the party for the 2000 election. Originally, she started out with paleoconservative beliefs. She believed that America in a post cold war world, america had little need to be as aggressively interventionist as it had been, nor continue to liberalize it's trade, instead he wanted a peace dividend in the form of tax cuts and and decreased military spending, along with the adaption of economic nationalism. 9/11, however, would she her almost invert her foreign policy views, adopting a quasi-neoconservative position that america needed to remain and expand for the purpose of strengthening it's self in a clash of civilizations. She would also a adopt a more free trade position, though here economic nationalist roots would lead her to be more supportive of industrial policy that supported working families, though still primarily through workfare and tax cuts. In 2002 she would her leave Reform for the Republican Party in 2002. At the state level after a few years of being an effective organizer for socially conservative, yet economically moderate causes in Green Bay, She was able to reach an agreement to an agreement with the incumbent in the 2nd assembly district that he'd run for the 1st senate seat and she'd get his support, as a Republican, for his assembly seat, though this agreement was more about easing her way into the political scene. She'd win the seat in an uncontested primary. During her tenure in office, she was a vocally socially conservative republican, insisting, that she was in fact, the most conservative of her caucus, despite being notably personable with democrats and could negotiate along economic lines. By 2010, she had begun aligning with the TEA party movement, making sure that her economically moderate proposals would be modeled as tax cuts rather than programs. She was also an early supporter of (not-Scott Walker)'s run for governor, which would prove beneficial to her further political opportunities. Sensing vulnerability, as a result of his social libertarian leanings in the support of the moderate state senator she had once made a deal with, in addition to backing with those aligned with (not-Scott Walker), she decided to primary him for his state senate seat. She also used her socially conservative record on policing and cultural issues, along with a rhetorically fiscally conservative position, though it was in actuality not all that different from her opponent, to win the nomination. She'd also end up marrying a D.C. Lobbyist in 2010, though she'd keep her name.

In the run up to the 2010 election and through to it's final passage in 2011, Serah Kurian offered herself up for, and served as, the lead in the Wisconson's GOP's redistricting efforts. Her plan was to develop and push through an aggressively partisan redistricting plan before the democrats would have the time to mount a meaningful alternative. Her behind the scenes efforts would be part of what would win her a primary victory in the state senate against an opponent that was much less unwilling to engage in partisan gerrymandering, but it was after the election where Serah would gain more public recognition. After the inauguration of the new state legislature in January 2011, Serah Kurian would give radio interviews, town hall meetings and make local tv appearances accusing the democrats of being sore losers looking to waste the tax payers money by insisting on an extended process. Her intelligence and charisma would endear her to Republicans and independents but would provoke anger among partisan democrats. During the 2011 protests against (not-walker) over proposed restrictions to collective bargaining, she'd accuse the protest that occupied the Washington state capitol building of fermenting insurrection against a governor who's agenda had just been adopted by the people of this state'. Serah would staunchly defend and would be interviewed to defend (not-walker), right through to the eventual 2012 recall election. It was in 2011 in which Serah would start building up her national profile among young republicans, particularly online. She could also always be called upon to deride and attack the occupy movement on behalf of the republican party. Built up national and state level favor would give her the endorsements and resources she would need to make the leap to federal politics. With the conclusion of the 2012 recall campaign in (not-walker's) favor, she was free to focus on her effort to win Wisconsin's 8th, winning the Republican nomination for the open seat. In the General, she'd focus much less on her record as firebrand on more on moderation and her ability to reach bi-partisan compromises.

Since winning her house seat, she's continued to be a loyal republican partisan, though is an advocate of conservative market friendly government that does more than just cut taxes, but establish market friendly programs with a faint economic nationalist and pro-natalist bend. In 2014, she and (not-Rubio) presented a proposal to congress intended to formalize, regulate and promote ISA's, or income share agreements, in which students could help fund their education by selling 'shares' in their future earnings. The plan was built around a model that a few new startups have taken up in response to the opportunities created by the developing student debt crisis, based on a concept first envisioned by Milton Friedman in the 1950s. She also backed the (not-rubio) paid family plan in 2018.

She also uses every opportunity she can to speak to the media and speak at events to raise her profile. As a reservist, that has mostly meant being contacted by television channels to give her hawkish thoughts about the use of military force and is perhaps the most prominent advocate of drone warfare in Washington D.C. Her political ambitions, obviously, are not limited to the house. She's wanted to run for the senate, in the hopes it could position her to one day be on a presidential ticket, but hasn't had any opportunities to do so without having to challenge an incumbent. With the passing of Jon Ronson, she's been given an excellent opportunity to slip into the senate, and has declared her intention to run for the seat.

Biography: WIP

All Maxwell Benson wanted to do was help his country. Helping his country by being a man of the news.

Now how the #@#% did it get to here? Let's rewind a bit now..

Maxwell Benson was born in Cleveland, Ohio in July 17, 1970 as a 70's kid and a 80's teen, having attended Lincoln West High School. When growing up, he developed an interest in journalism, which would lead to his transfer from Cleveland State University to Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism in New York. While he did make several articles for the local newspaper, he managed to get his first gig at News 5 as a news anchor. It took him a while to get the ropes, since he was told some rules to the trade. You don't too emotionally invested in the stories and you make sure to inform the public. The 90's were an easy decade for Benson to adapt, since the nation was going subpar in his eyes.

Eventually, his work was becoming more professional to which he moved to New York, having been hired to be a part of ABC News. Around the mid 90's, he was engaged to a woman named Carrie, a publisher that he met after taking a break from covering a story in SoHo. They would get married later and start a family. At the start of the new millennium, it was a hectic year for Maxwell, since he was beginning to see the emotional aspect of the news and how the public were feeling. Especially after 9/11 occurred.

May 30, 2020. The death of Marlon Ward have turned him into an unwilling martyr, as chaos erupted across the nation. Maxwell Benson was assigned to cover a protest at Charlotte, North Carolina. Him and his cameraman ended up in the thick of it, as the situation was turning ugly, though he wanted to ensure that proper footage of the protest would still end up the network. What happened next from a cut gas line that made him an injured causality among 160 other people, along with 43 others being killed from a gas explosion. Benson woke up to the aftermath of what was composed of screams and panic, as it wouldn't take a while until paramedics were dispatched.

The explosion rattled him, where he was being treated for some burn injuries, though nothing major. His family did pay a visit, as he was healing. Yet, you can't heal wounds that easily. After he was officially discharged, he retired from his news network, though he was bound to do so, since he was given the gig for American People. He developed an alcohol habit to cope, though it was mostly a private affair.

For Benson at his age at the time, you will be surprised on how the kids are doing since you gone beyond a nuclear family by having a third child.

Benson's first son Sean was known by his parents as being a reclusive and was diagnosed with bipolar disorder. Due to his son's nature, Maxwell and his wife Carrie once thought that Sean went to move to Tashkent (his other children found out that he was still in the states by living in Chicago, Illinois). He's currently dating a British flight attendant (which started said Tashkent rumor), where he works as a graphic designer by making brochures for a textile company and does part-time as a break dancer in Millennium Park. He was also in rehab, due to being addicted to opioids from the ongoing epidemic.

His only daughter Stefani got pregnant earlier than expected in 2014 nearly before she graduated high school, already giving Maxwell a grandson named Pierce. To add things more hectic with Stefani, she went out of the closet of being gay to some woman who happened to have her own stash of dough (both Sean and Kelly did some digging, where they told Maxwell that Stefani's partner Liza gets easy money from selling make-up and shoes to influencers and Youtubers) to have them live in Los Angeles, which Maxwell hated, since he worried that the vices of Southern California will end up corrupting them. Despite this, Stefani had told her father that she's trying to become a comic book writer, where she is more aware of Maxwell's drinking problem.

For his third child and youngest son Kelly- Well, technically not a son. Kelly had a honest talk with their parents that they were non-binary, which Maxwell had to wrap his head around. Kelly ended up in Denver, Colorado where they are still attending college, working as a Rocket Fizz worker in their spare time to get some extra pay for their apartment.
Other Info:
- Benson has a borderline alcohol addiction, which occurs during times of stress and major thinking.
- Benson is suffering from a case of "impostor syndrome", due to the nature of his job and the growing bleakness of society that he views, in general. This doesn't help after Richardson ends up becoming president..
- Themes that I want to focus around Benson's character revolves: the state and concern of mainstream media, objectivity, depression, the unfairness and anxiety of modern society, hypocrisy, disconnect between generations, forced apathy, disillusionment, and pretty much politic unrest.
- Aspects of backstory based around The Influencing Machine: Brooke Gladstone on the Media.
- He might be a more neutral good version of "a certain someone". Take your guesses.

"Don't you WANT to help people, Benson?"

- Even unsure of himself after the North Carolina gas explosion of 2020.

Will leave this character's acceptance to another admin pending their review.

Non-officeholders as of this moment are being considered on a case-by-case basis.

Weighing whether or not to make another character who’ll be a Senator, or to work on a Wisconsin Senate (Democratic) candidate? I want to do more, but I also don’t want to take up a role a prospect might want.

Main Strengths: Credibility with both the establishment and Wolfist wings of the party, Military experience and associated credibility, Strong fundraiser, liked by leadership

Main Weaknesses: Shameless careerist, Arrogant and self-important, LGBT Republican, vulnerable to attacks on corporate financing and background

Other Info: Outspoken supporter, friend, and ally of President Nate Richardson.

I’m ready to accept this guy but two things you may include

1. Richardson is a fitness freak, likely they have done pickup basketball games together and likely Richardson said “if I win you can teach me how to play tennis on the White House court.”
2. Richardson would have definitely interviewed him for some foreign policy cabinet spots, but if he announced for Congress that would end

- Outsider, "outsider" who is well-connected to the GOP establishment in New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania.

Biography: Eshwar Revankar (1930-present) and his wife Tanseem (1934-present) arrived in New York City in 1959, intending to build a new life in America. Originally from the Marathi region of South India, Eshwar was a doctor and Tanseem a teacher. They took on American nicknames upon arrival--Eddie and Annie--and moved to New Jersey, where a burgeoning immigrant population was beginning to put down roots.

The Revankars had three sons: Tushar "Tommy" Revankar (1960-present); Jack; and Ishan "Ike" Revankar (1965-present). They gave each an "American" nickname to go by, and carefully taught themselves to speak with as little of an accent as possible, so their children wouldn't have one either.

Generally, everything follows in order with reality, unless a PC changed it. So, to my knowledge, the list goes:

- John Burke (Not-GHW Bush)

- Jack Clifford (Not-Bill Clinton)

- John Jay Burke (Not-GW Bush), Vice President Chuck Dickney.

- Rashid Baharia (Not-Barack Obama), Vice President Robin Diehl, jr.. Defeated Moe Johnson (not-John McCain) and Paulette Smith (Not-Sarah Palin) in 2008, Ron Mitter (not-Mitt Romney) and (Not-Paul Ryan) in 2012.

- Arnold Wolf (Not-Trump) and Vice President Richard Tawney. Beat Diane Clifford (not-Hillary) in 2016.

As for primary candidates and some general election candidates, we don't have a lot yet. In O'Hallorans app I called our Ted Cruz equivalent Calvin Torres. Our Bernie Sanders is Sam Baginski. My headcanon is:

- Darryl Brown=Bob Dole

- Quenton Day=Dan Quayle

- Dan Daniels=Chris Christie

- Robbie Patrick=Paul Ryan

- Ken Joyce=John Kerry

- Eli Jacobson=John Edward's

- Scott Reynolds=Rick Santorum

-Gerry Allan=Al Gore

-Raul Mendoza=Marco Rubio

But none of that is canon, so...yea.

Administrative Advisory: Nobody else respond to the deranged and unrealistic Maxine Durant tweets, and those who have, delete those posts.
As for the player, you will be dealt with tomorrow by administration.

Gonna be honest, being in HOTB since early this year, I could have told you guys before hand you'd constantly seen posts like that.

Anyway, would a fed chair character count towards the character limit or not, If so I won't bother do the app because I still want keep space for the pair I apped first at some future point.

I think the actions of the Fed Chair are being taken on more by the Admin Team collectively.

I would also prefer we not have a fed chair player

Newne Carriebean7, delete the post of Maxine Durant at Cedar Grove immediately. Admins are deliberating an official course of action in light of Durant's comments.

Since I think I'm not the best at being a politician, I'm thinking of being a White House Staffer instead. Just need one clarification- am I, as a new player, allowed to apply for one?
