Assuming that the California redistricting process stays the same, she would be moved into the 40th congressional district where there is a partisan lean of R +4. If she won with 52.1% of the vote in a D+6 election, I think a 10 point swing rightwards would keep her in the mix
She also has an incumbency factor

If you were wondering I'm getting my stats from, I've been using 538, they currently show redistricting in all the states,
for my character I've based it off of previous elections and stats according to the map

We can debate legislation but systemic racism exists! Would someone make a joke about how you could be blindfolded with floss?

Still figuring out the nooks and crannies but yes I'm your resident social liberal :)

NS Nation Name: Republic of the Orion Islands
Character Name: Jack Chambers
Character Gender: M
Character Age: 53
Character Height: 6'1"
Character Weight: 183
Character Position/Role/Job: Governor of Nebraska
Appearance: Thin, short sandy haired, with a crooked bright white smile
Character State of Origin: Nebraska
Character State of Residence: Nebraska
Character Party Affiliation: Republican
Main Strengths: Wealthy, charming, connected, intelligent
Main Weaknesses: Untrustworthy, arrogant, brash and unfiltered
Biography: Jack Chambers was born to the well to do Chambers dynasty of the plains in 1967. His father was a wealthy stock and commodities broker named Harold who grew the family fortune even further when he developed an innovative brokerage house for the everyday man. Chambers grew up spending time between his father's ranch in middle Nebraska and in a home near Jackson Hole, Wyoming. The young boy lacked for nothing and received nothing but the best of private tutelage.

Chambers attended the best private boarding schools in the Midwest where he made connections with other younger sons of wealthy Midwestern scions. Some of these connections he has kept into adulthood as Jack made his own way.

At 18 Jack attended the prestigious University of Chicago studying in its world-renowned economics program. The courses and professors were quite conservative and further instilled Jack's silver spoon fed economic ideals, "trickle down" became a mantra of the young man.

After graduating high but not with honors from university, Jack went to work with his father as a economics analyst. Jack spent years in this role helping chart the family companies' expansion and major decisions. During this time Jack married the youngest daughter of a wealthy family from Chicago named Vivian and the couple would have three daughters. The business created a brokerage house concentrating on lower and middle-class Americans looking to start investing. In the 90's the business took off further by becoming one of the first houses to begin utilizing the internet. By the modern day the company has one of the most modern and user-friendly trading platforms in the country

Jack eventually grew tired in his role, clearly seeing that his older siblings would play a larger role in the main family business and decided to carve out his own niche. Jack therefore convinced his father of the economic value of professional sports and six months later in 1997 the Chambers were proud new owners of the Kansas City Royals Major League Baseball team, with Jack as the team president. Chambers attempted to rebuild the Royals by trading star players for prospects, however the prospects never became players near the level of the stars he traded. The Royals would set new team records for most losses in a single season 5 times during his tenure, the Royals never made the postseason while he was President, and they only posted one winning season. He did preside over major renovations to Kauffman Stadium. He stepped down in 2012 as president, however he retains 50% interest in the Royals to this day.

Ever since college, Jack had been interested in political economics and wanted to truly implement a trickle-down economy with cut taxes and lower spending to grow businesses and jobs. Jack now having felt independently accomplished in business and sports decided the time was right to make a run for public office.

Due to term limits the governorship was vacant and none of the state federal representatives had decided to make a run, so Jack saw his chance. Jack began pumping money into a 2014 Governor run starting at the beginning of 2013 and building up speed from there. His tactics built up quick name value and he voiced conservative social values which rang true in most parts of the red state.

Jack's main competition turned out to be the state's Attorney General but fortunately for Jack the AG's campaign nosedived when reports came out involving wide scale corruption at the state Department of Justice. Jack Chambers went on to win the primary by 15% points due to the scandal and brushed aside a poorly funded democrat in the red state by 20% points in the general election.

Inaugurated in 2014, the new governor quickly began stumping in the unicameral legislature for wide scale tax cuts and he vetoed a repeal of the death penalty to appeal to "law and order" interests. This veto was initially overridden but the Governor gained a massive statewide petition of support that raised a referendum that reinstated the death penalty. The governor had previously funded many of these senators and it came as no surprise to Jack when most of his objectives were passed through the legislature by 2015. One extremely vocal and notorious Omaha democrat opposed him at every turn, but man had little pull in the mostly red state.

Jack Chambers began to grow controversy both regionally and nationally for his outspoken opposition to the U.S. Supreme Court's decision to legalize gay marriage in 2015 followed by controversial pro-police remarks after a number of police racially motivated brutality incidents both locally in Omaha and nationally as well. The comments struck well with his rural base but hurt his approval polling overall due to the suburban moderate voters in the Omaha, Lincoln, and surrounding suburban areas. By the end of the year, Governor Chambers saw an increase in polling numbers when he was able to tout that Nebraska had produced one of the few balanced budgets in all the nation.

Governor Chambers started out 2016 laying relatively low, he passed through most laws without veto and saw little controversy in the first couple months of the year but paid close attention to the ongoing Republican presidential primary. Governor Chambers on 'Super Tuesday' made big news by becoming a vocal supporter of future president Wolf with an endorsement. Chambers pushed through a noteworthy constitutional amendment to make Hunting and fishing a state right but mostly began focusing on supporting and campaigning on behalf of Wolf.

Wolf won and Chambers stuck around Nebraska with no promotion in sight. Whether his support was ever appreciated was unknown, but Chambers didn't seem to let on if he minded. Governor Chambers began campaigning in mid 2017 and pushed through another balanced budget and key agricultural subsidies which he pointed to as his platform highlights.

In the 2018 election, Governor Chambers won re-election with 58% of the votes, a lower margin due to the alienation of some suburban voters, but still quite comfortable. The Governor then went back to the balancing of the budget, at the expense to education and infrastructure some complain, and stumped on the campaign trail for a number of local favorites running for federal offices.

In 2019 the Governor, coming to the end of his tenure in Lincoln and prevented by term limits from running in 2022 he entered the race for the Republican nomination for President. He started out strong in the Midwest, putting together a strong second in Iowa, however his campaign imploded after a controversial speech where he compared Wolf's trade policy to chemotherapy. The remark angered many due to its insensitivity and his opponents quickly seized upon the remark as evidence he was pro-China. He finished dead last in South Carolina, and he dropped out to endorse Richardson. He spent the rest of 2020 working on relief for Nebraska, using surplus monies to provide tax credits and loans for small businesses and insurance companies.
With his term nearing its end, Chambers plans to go out with a bang, however his future is undecided.

Political Positions
Guns: NRA A+ rated, passed through state constitutional right to hunt and fish, opposes universal background checks and assault weapons bans

Social Views: Supports christian values and opposed gay marriage legalization, saying it was a state's choice. Supports private business personal service rights. Law and order candidate who brought back the death penalty and opposed body cameras and internal police sensitivity training and investigations. Pro-Life, Catholic

Economics: touts ability to balance budget and 'true' adherence to Reaganomics, tax cuts for wealthy and loopholes for corporations and other entities, eliminated state death tax. Supports fracking and harvesting of oil and natural gas. Opposes tariffs on China because of the harm to agriculture in the state, wants federal subsidies for crops.

Character Application and Information Sheet

NS Nation Name: New Cobastheia
Character Name: Luke Sanchez
Character Gender: Male
Character Age: 39
Character Height: 5'11"
Character Weight: 180 lbs
Character Position/Role/Job:
Member of the Virginia House of Delegates from the 12th District (2018-)
Character Country/State of Birth: Texas
Character State of Residence: Virginia
Character Party Affiliation:
    Democratic (1999-)
Main Strengths: Story of Growing up Poor to Running for Governor; Experienced with Close Races and Grassroots Politics
Main Weaknesses: Recovering Addict; As a Latino, He Doesn't Quite Fit into the Traditional Racial Binary of Virginia; Unexpirenced with Statewide Races

Luke Julian Sanchez was born in Houston, Texas on September 8, 1981 to Diego Sanchez and Martha Adkins. Diego was an immigrant from Mexico, in fact, at the time of Luke's birth he wasn't even a citizen of the United States. Martha, meanwhile, came from a long line of coal miners who've lived in West Virginia/Appalachian Virginia for a long time. The two had arrived in Texas around the same time and they were both looking for a better life. Eventually, the two would meet, started dating, got pregnant, and then married before the baby, i.e Luke, popped out.

His parents were very loving, if not very not wealthy as well. The two had started up a restaurant a few years prior to Luke's birth. Out of what it brought in, most went back into buying supplies and whatnot for the restaurant and another chuck went towards bills, leaving only a little bit for the family, but overall it was enough to get buy. And that's how it was for the first few years of Luke's life, until around the time he was 4. One night his Mom peed on a stick and suddenly the family was getting ready to welcome a baby girl. Only problem was, after checking the budget as many times as humanly possible, the family couldn't really afford it and so after a lot of decision making, the Sanchez-Adkins family packed up their things and moved to West Virginia where if nothing else they'd have a support network in Martha's family.

For the rest of Luke's childhood near the state line, Diego usually took up work at chain restaurants as a cook and Martha would start a career of her own as a secretary for a small law firm that focused on worker's rights. As he started his teenage years, Luke was still a shy kid. That, coupled with the fact that he's Hispanic, not the mention that tended to look at the boys more than he ever looked at the girls, led to him being the subject of some bullying during his high school years. This would inadvertently lead him down the career path of a teacher thanks to a teacher who ultimately put a stop to the bullying and accepted Luke for who he was and whatnot. It was shorting after this when Luke first became interested in politics with the 1996 Gubernatorial election of West Virginia. He, and the rest of his family, we're big supporters of [not-Charlotte Pritt] due to her leftward policies. Luke even went so far as to volunteer for her after school more than a few days a week during the long and twisting campaign. Unsurprisingly, when he turned 18 he'd register as a Democrat.

In the fall of 1999, Luke would officially start his career as a student at the University of Virginia. He was enrolled in the five-year program that ends with students getting a Bachelors from the College of Arts and Sciences and a Masters from the Curry School of Education. College was college and he did well enough. His life however would change forever with the events of 9/11. He wanted to do something about what had happened, but he didn't exactly want to cut his university education short, and so he'd ultimately join the ROTC and prepared to serve in active duty for a few years post-graduation. With a Bachelor of Arts in History and Environmental Science and a Masters of Teaching in hand come May 2004, Luke would soon find himself in Iraq as an Army Officer.

In Iraq he'd work as a Military Intelligence Officer, he would spend all four years of his time in active duty within the Middle Eastern Polity. During his time there he would quickly find himself disillusioned with the war, especially considering his time there featured the outbreak of a civil war. By the time he was in Iraq, Luke had figured out he was gay but due to Don't Ask Don't Tell he would remain in the closest for a time to come, which of course didn't help with his mental help. And then, returning home and moving to the Norfolk area, Luke was subject to the worst economic depression since the Great Depression.

He was able to get his teacher's certification fairly easily once he got back home but past that point getting a job, besides flipping burgers at a fast-food joint, was difficult. The binge drinking habit he'd pick up towards the end of his time in Iraq would become a more frequent occurrence out of a need to escape from how shit life felt about life, and sooner or later it became a nearly daily occurrence. Slowly but surely he'd want to try something harder, and sooner or later he would get his hands on that something. If it wasn't for an intervention staged by his friends and family, plus a local pastor, things could of gotten much, much worse for him.

It took an addiction specialist at the VA, some AA and NA meetings, and a few other life adjustments but he'd get better. So much so that by the time the 2010-11 school year was turning around Luke was able to apply for and get accepted to a history position at Blacksburg High School. After everything he had been through Luke was ready to finally start this new phase of his life. Once into the swing of things he'd generally consider himself a good teacher. The kids generally seemed to like both him and his lessons and the guidance department was able to have Mr. Sanchez help a number of the more troubled kids given his own life experiences. It was hard work, but it was extremely rewarding. It was what Luke had hoped for.

In the meantime though, Luke would slowly become fed up with the political system that be, both on the federal and state level. Come time for the 2016 Presidential election he was a very strong [not-Sanders], much like he had done way back in 1996 he would frequently voluntary for the campaign, getting his first taste of grassroots politics in a while. He was dismayed when [not-Clinton] would come out on top but done the less would come to vote for her in face of who the Republicans nominated. He was shocked when it turned out the Wolf would come out on top, although once he had time to process it, it made a lot of sense. People were angry, people still are angry as far as Luke is concerned, and they wanted a populist to fight for them. Hell, it's the same reason why he was a [not-Sanders] supporter.

Moving forward to the 2017 elections in Virginia, Luke would decide to run in his State House district, the 12th. He would have to quit his job and live on his savings in order to do it, but he decided it would be worth it in the long run if he could win it. He'd run a very grassroots-heavy campaign and tried as hard as he could to knock on every door in his district. Sanchez would run on enacting gun reform, fully protecting minorities under the law and making sure all Virginians were viewed as equal, legalizing weed, expanding funding for public education, renewable energy, mental health services, and harm reduction, as well as a Medicaid expansion within the Commonwealth. In something of an upset, considering it was a nearly 9 point margin when polling predicted it would be close for most of the election season, on election day the race was called for Sanchez over the three-term Republican incumbent, and with that Luke would join a wave of young, groundbreaking, progressives making their way to Richmond in the aftermath of said election.

During his first term in the State House, most of his legislation would get tied up in the Senate given the GOP control in that chamber. In the meantime though, he'd have to get a new job back in Blacksburg and he ultimately fall into being a Uber driver for a while before taking up a job at a tutoring firm too. He'd also make sure to develop an extremely strong constituent services wing in his office, as he both figured it'd be important when it comes to any future elections and because he wanted to keep in touch with the grassroots energy. In the meantime between that and election season, Delegate Sanchez would repeatedly speak out in favor of the teacher strikes happening throughout the country and worked towards a bill, that would partially become law later on, that increase teacher's pay in Virginia. He'd win reelection by a similar margin as the first time, leading a much more interesting second term.

Given that Democrats now held a trifecta for the first time in a long time, the only party would get quick to work when it writing up various reforms. Delegate Sanchez had a big role in a number of reforms, such as legal equality for LGBT Virginians, the Medicaid expansion, the bill legalizing weed, and pushing for Virginia to ratify the Equal Rights Amendment. Besides that of course he stuck to his campaign promises and made sure to introduce, fight, and vote for legislation increasing spending for mental health, harm reduction services, and renewable energy.

Given how the Lt. Gov. and Attorney General weren't the natural successors to the Governor for once, Delegate Sanchez took interest in the office. He was proud of the progress that had been done, but he knew there was more to be done, and he figured the best person to do that work would be someone who has lived a variety of the problems facing the Commonwealth. That combined with fears of his part of the state being left behind ultimately led him to make plans. He'd launch a PAC to start raising money and soon enough, in June 2021 he'd launch a run for Governor. Since then he's spent a large amount of his time on the campaign trail, trying to form a coalition that can hopefully win him the primary and the general.

Other Info: Has a golden retriever named Ike who frequently appears at campaign events. Plays a mean Saxophone. Has been on food stamps at various points in his life. Will be 10 years sober later this year.

Social Views: Supports christian values and opposed gay marriage legalization, saying it was a state's choice. Supports private business personal service rights. Supports fracking and harvesting of oil and natural gas. Opposes tariffs on China because of the harm to agriculture in the state, wants federal subsidies for crops.

Can someone give me some pointers about a few things I should do now that I've been approved?
We can debate legislation but systemic racism exists! Would someone make a joke about how you could be blindfolded with floss?

Still figuring out the nooks and crannies but yes I'm your resident social liberal :)

If it's my last character though, then I'm not sure I want to use it up.

I cannot confirm but i believe it should lift, though we wont let you create characters back to back you need to be using the ones you already have first.

Yeah, I was just wondering.

Also, has the date changed?

Is a motion for unanimous consent legal in the House? I see no mention of it in the rules, and I thought I'd check before placing one on the floor to pass ALLIES.

I believe that’s possible, but I think that’s more common for resolutions. For a bill, in a chamber of 435 voting members, that motion could be derailed by one objection.
