Be patient, it took a similar period of time for Hyppie G to be looked at originally.

And Guam is not a state, but is still a linchpin of America's defenses in the Pacific, as a key location between the Asian continent and Hawaii. The United States needs to show strength towards the Chinese Communist Party, and the installation of the defenses included in this bill will give Beijing pause before it attempts anything towards an American ally or even the island itself, which by the way, is home to 168,000 AMERICAN CITIZENS, so defending Guam is putting Americans first. But as I said, the economic crisis is literally the first thing on Richardson's agenda, the defense bill will be dealt with when Richardson wants it to be introduced.

I never said that they weren't American Citizens. I know they are. I said that Guam isn't considered very American. They also lack many of the rights and duties of American citizens (just like DC and Puerto Rico). Additionally, I know that $125 million wouldn't be enough for Richardson's plan, but making a show of military force in the Pacific won't do anything if the crisis is economic, not military. If Richardson really wants to make a show of force, then he would divert any money intended for the military towards handling the economic crisis. Or, if he's a real TEA Party advocate, he'd find the $125 mil, send that back as tax breaks, and then split the proposed $7.4 billion between tax cuts/stimulus relief for the poor/middle classes and funding for job programs.

You do realize a few things?
In this universe, the economic crisis was caused by China, so being tough on China is good for anyone.
Republican voters love the idea of a strong military, and Republican politicians who are big time deficit hawks will vote for big military budgets.
China has engaged its neighbors in disputes over potentially valuable islands, so these nations would likely welcome a strong American presence.
North Korea has specifically threatened to attack Guam, such attack should not be seen as beyond their capabilities, so defensive measures against an attack, either by China or a regime with as dangerously unstable leadership as North Korea would be seen by nearly everyone in DC as common sense.
The ARA and Endless Frontier will provide a ton of relief, in addition Richardson has a massive infrastructure bill planned.

While keeping a strong military is important given the circumstances, arguably this is a case where America works with its allies and places more burdens on them so that problems can be dealt with at home. What good are weapons when people don't have the strength or will to fight? What good are massive increases to the military budget when people cannot afford goods are services? What good does right-wing fanaticism "common sense" do when the nation must focus on the entire region when its allies are fully capable of doing so? This is not the time to pretend that what is being done is enough. This would be the time to enact a progressive agenda. This is the time to reinstate a wealth tax and push that money towards rebuilding the broken economy. This is the time to make sure that you are fighting an economic and (potentially) military war at the same time. The actions thus far by the Richardson Administration, the House, and the Senate are nowhere near the weeping root-and-branch financial reforms that America needs to move past this crisis. Had FDR reacted liked this to the Depression or Pearl Harbor, he would not be remembered as a great American president-- he would be looked upon as a fool.

Just to back up Orion here, yes I can confirm Richardson would have made IndoPacific Defense upgrades a big part of his defense platform during his campaign and would have mentioned Guam specifically.

Biography: (Minimum 2-3 paragraphs)

Born on January 5, 1985, Olivia Gayle Patterson was a bright and hot-headed child. Her father, a Nashville music executive, was a gentle and understanding disciplinarian. Hardly ever tough on his children, he brought them to respect the family values his parents taught him, and to love the country music industry. Her mother, a mother at heart, worked part-time as a high school softball coach and guided her children along a path that steered them through good education. Throughout grade school, Olivia kept straight As and passed on to high school. As a sophomore, she helped establish and lead a school wide Republican Party, and at times openly argued with some of her more liberal-minded teachers. Graduating in 2003, she majored in law at Yale, and helped found and chair the Conservative Student Union, drawing hundreds of members at Yale, Harvard, and other Ivy League schools. The group traveled around the country, speaking at various events and rallies and drawing substantial crowds. Emerging as a leading voice for conservative youth, she briefly served on a youth advisory council council for Fake McCain campaign. In 2008, she started TrueAmerica.com, a website that pushed right-wing policy and organized rallies at various schools and parks. Drawing big names like Fake Sean Hannity and others to publish pieces on her website, it became one of the biggest and most-visited conservative webpages. In response to the 2008 election of Fake Barack Obama, she gained nationwide attention as members of her group held a mock-funeral for the United States at a park in Washington DC.

After graduating, she travelled back and forth between Washington and Nashville continued publishing on TrueAmerica.com and appeared on various radio and television shows between 2010 and 2012. Becoming a close confidant of figures like Fake Mark Levin and Fake Rush Limbaugh,, she spoke harshly in opposition of gay marriage, abortion, and other social issues. Speaking out in favor of candidates like Fake Chris Christie, Fake Ron Paul, and Fake Rick Santorum, she refused to support Fake Mitt Romney for President in 2012, drawing backlash from party establishment figures. Publishing a scathing attack on Fake Romney in October of 2012, attacking his weak support amongst amongst Tea Party and citing his failures at Bain Capital, and claiming that he was the party of the corrupt elite. Officially endorsing Fake Ron Paul for Preisdent, who was not running. She filed a last-minute push to "draft Fake Paul" into the race, however it failed to gain traction. Her legions of fans at TrueAmerica.com began a viral online campaign to-retake the Republican Party". Pushing TrueAmerica candidates into races across the country and propping itself up with grassroots donations, the 2012 election proved fickle in comparison to large PACs and the RNC, electing just three candidates in California to the state legislature, and one house candidate in Georgia. Searching for a way to bide time, she joined CNN as a legal analyst and contributor, she became one of the few conservative voices on the network, garnering national attention for her on-air spats with the likes of Jake Tapper, Wolf Blitzer, and various guests.

In 2014, she stepped back from her work at TrueAmerica.com to focus more on her role at CNN, passing on control of the website. While at CNN, she met her husband, Tom Newfield, who was a field reporter at the network. After marrying in January of 2014, their first daughter was born in December. After being temporarily suspended from the network in January of 2015 after throwing a pen at another panelist, she toned down her rhetoric before exiting the network to serve as the Press Secretary for Fake Chris Christie's 2016 campaign for president. When he dropped out, she joined the Wolf campaign as a surrogate and continued to appear on various shows and at events in the lead up to the 2016 Election. A clip of her went viral at the time on Twitter when she heard of the results in Wisconsin, jumping out of her chair and cheering like a baseball game.

Buying a large house in the suburbs of Nashville in 2017, she landed a job at Fox News, filling in for various hosts and taking part in debates. Temporarily reviving her involvement at TrueAmerica.com, she published a series of columns calling for an investigation into the Fake Clinton campaign, in 2016, citing corruption and an attempted "smear campaign to discredit and tie President Wolf to Russia". However, she once again left the website to spend more time with her family. Her second daughter was born in the summer of 2017, however not long after she was diagnosed with breast cancer. Forced to undergo chemotherapy, she stepped back from her position at Fox in 2018. Her husband and children by her side, she battled the cancer into 2019. By the summer of that year, her cancer went into remission and she landed a hosting role at Fox. Flying to and from Washington in the evenings to host Fox Tonight at midnight, she hosted the show for a little under three months in 2019 before accepting a position as White House Press Secretary. Taking the role after two relatively inactive secretaries, she made a commitment to hold a briefing every day. Making headlines for her combative and no-nonsense approach, she frequently attacked individual reporters and political figures and turned the briefings into a mini campaign rally for the President, unleashing attack after attack and doing questions left and right, so much that many in the news were beginning to call the art of question dodging to "pull a Newfield". Defending the President to the death, at times she would kick reporters out if she deemed their questions a waste of time or "taking part in the Deep State witch hunt". Drawing acclaim from the right and harsh criticism from the left, she exited the post following President Wolf's death, and instead announced a campaign to replace outgoing Tennessee Senator Fake Lamar Alexander. Riding off the popularity of Wolf, she sailed through the primaries and held a consistent lead in the polling above her democratic opponent, and the campaign drew little attention nationwide as Olivia picked up the seat by over 60% of the vote. Praising the election of Richardson, she tweeted consistently throughout the period between the election and inauguration day, calling for a "new era of Republican politics" and that she would be a "voice of the people" in the Senate.

2. This is an excellent app and I really like it.... HOWEVER we have a policy where we do not allow Senators as first time characters because we don't know if a player will stick around and then keep that spot from more active players. NS Nation Name: Cybernetic Socialist Republics
Character Name: Serah Kurian
Character Gender: Female
Character Age: 44 (June 21, 1976)
Character Height: 5'7
Character Weight: 136 Pounds
Character Position/Role/Job: Candidate Wisconsin Senate Special Election (2021), Representative for Wisconsin's 8th (2013-), State Senator for Wisconsin's 1st Senate District (2011-2013), State Assembly for Wisconsin's 2nd (2003-2011), Air Force Reserve (2000-), Aerospace Engineer (1999-2005)
Character Country/State of Birth: Wisconsin
Character State of Residence: Wisconsin
Character Party Affiliation: Republican (2002-), Reform (1999-2002)

Main Strengths and Weaknesses:

Sereh is an intelligent, photogenic woman that is unafraid of political confrontation and opportunistic behavior. These are characteristics, that have advanced her career and seen her develop a strong online following, but has also fed into her ego, which can lead to her overplaying her hand. Her notability also makes lightning rod for liberal ire, despite being, ideologically, very much a run of the mill republican with some technocratic leanings, even as she has her story of baptism in her youth to appeal to evangelicals. Combined, she has decent support from social conservatives and strong suburban appeal. Since her first foray into politics was outside of the two major parties, she also has a inkling of what swings and motivates voters alienated from both parties. An air force reserve woman and an strong advocate for the use of America's hard power, has also won her support among warhawks. The support she gets in one form, however can come back in significant opposition. Part of having a strong social media presence as a republican means aligning one's self with the trends of conservative youth, which has naturally made her culture warrior of a type that is particularly offensive to social liberals and naturally her advocacy for military power makes her run afoul of committed anti-war activists.

Biography:

Serah Kurian was born in Green Bay, Wisconsin on June 21st, 1976 to Nisha and Isaac Kurian, an educated Indian Christian couple that immigrated to Wisconsin from Kerala, India. Soon She was born, her father, educated as an engineer, would relocate the family to Virginia, where her father accepted a very well paying job in marine engineering. She'd grow up both very privileged and assured in her intelligence. Serah, despite being an excellent student, would frequently get into conflicts with peers, though she'd usually come out ahead. She would, however, develop an internal feelings of insecurity and emptiness, usually quenched by praise from others. Originally. she intended to simply follow in her father's foot steps by pursuing a career in STEM, graduating with high honors in aerospace engineering from MIT. However, during her studies, she'd get baptized and adopt a strong evangelical Christian faith, which would be followed by feeling a calling to serve her country through the military and then politics.

As such, after graduating she would move back to Wisconsin and join the Air Force Reserve, being among the air force's first drone pilots, even as she worked for as a independent contractor in the aerospace engineer field outside of reserve duties. Her political career had began in 1999 with her joining the reform party to help (non-Buchanan) win the nomination of the party for the 2000 election. Originally starting out with paleoconservative beliefs, which lead to her being strongly social conservative, but also economically moderate, 9/11 pushed her toward a more mainstream, neoconservative alignment on foreign policy, which would eventually see her leave Reform for the Republican Party in 2002. At the state level after a few years of being an effective organizer for socially conservative, yet economically moderate causes in Green Bay, She was able to reach an agreement to an agreement with the incumbent in the 2nd assembly district that he'd run for the 1st senate seat and she'd get his support, as a Republican, for his assembly seat. She'd win the seat in an uncontested primary. During her tenure in office, she was a vocally socially conservative republican, insisting, that she was in fact, the most conservative of her caucus, despite being notably personable with democrats and could negotiate along economic lines. By 2010, she had begun aligning with the TEA party movement and primaried the state senator she had once made a deal with from his right and took his seat, taking advantage of the larger rise of the TEA party. It was at this point she was recognized nationally by the more conservative elements of the republican party as a rising star and would end up marrying a D.C. Lobbyist in 2010, though she'd keep her name.

In 2012, she'd run in brutal primary against her republican opponent, with both campaigns insinuating the homosexuality of the other, but Sereh would come out ahead ahead in the 2012 election. She's been a loyal republican partisan, though is an advocate of conservative market friendly government that does more than just cut taxes, but establish market friendly programs. In 2014, she and (not-Rubio) presented a proposal to congress intended to formalize, regulate and promote ISA's, or income share agreements, in which students could help fund their education by selling 'shares' in their future earnings. The plan was built around a model that a few new startups have taken up in response to the opportunities created by the developing student debt crisis, based on a concept first envisioned by Milton Friedman in the 1950s. She also backed the (not-rubio) paid family plan in 2018.

She also uses every opportunity she can to speak to the media and speak at events to raise her profile. As a reservist, that has mostly meant being contacted by television channels to give her hawkish thoughts about the use of military force and is perhaps the most prominent advocate of drone warfare in Washington D.C. Her political ambitions, obviously, are not limited to the house. She's wanted to run for the senate, in the hopes it could position her to one day be on a presidential ticket, but hasn't had any opportunities to do so without having to challenge an incumbent. With the passing of Jon Ronson, she's been given an excellent opportunity to slip into the senate, and has declared her intention to run for the seat.

(Image)
Name: John Amos Mattox III
Age: 78 (Born January 1, 1943)
Gender: Male
Height and Weight: 6’3; 178 lbs
Party Identification: Democratic (1957-Present); Republican (Before 1957)
Birthplace: Boston, Massachusetts
Place of Residence: Boston, MA
Position: Congressman (1970-Present) from MA’s 5th District (2013-Present) and 7th (1970-2013); Marine (1961-1967; Honorable Discharge); Whip of the Democratic Caucus (2011-2019)
Biography:
Note on the Bio: I have not always indicated when redistricting has affected Mr. Mattox. Please see Wikipedia or other sources of information for more sources regarding redistricting.
Born in Boston, MA, John A. Mattox III was the youngest of the Mattox children. His sisters, Clara and Annabel, were born in 1941 and 1943 respectively. The Mattox family was relatively prosperous. As members of the prosperous upper-middle-class, the Mattox line were strong supporters of FDR and Harry Truman, despite their conservative leanings (though they certainly favored Truman a little more strongly). John Mattox III was raised to oppose all forms of hatred and bigotry-- strong parts of his Methodist faith. In addition to the three children, the Mattox Family also consisted of their parents (Abigail and John Jr.), their paternal grandparents (John Sr. and Thalia), and their mother’s sister (Pamela).

Towards the end of the Depression, the Mattox Family suffered for some time financially. Mattox Sr. and Mattox Jr. continued to keep the family law firm open, however; Mattox III took a strong interest in law early on, often attending hearings and cases that intrigued him. His family often defended the poor, the scorned, and those that were unable to get past the policies that prevented them from moving forward. In 1941, Mattox Sr. caught influenza and died, having suffered from asthma for most of his life. Mattox Jr. chose to enter local politics part-time, leaving his aides and fellow lawyers to spend more time on the business. After several failed attempts to be elected to office, Mattox Jr. returned to the practice and worked there the rest of his life.

In 1961, Mattox III graduated from high school and immediately joined the Marine Corps against his father’s wishes. He told his family that he “wanted to serve his country no matter what” and that he would find a way to do it “every day for the rest of [his] life.” Mattox III fought in the Vietnam War from 1961 to 1967. Upon his return, he officially changed his party registration to Democratic as he felt that the party was leaving the ideals of Lincoln, Teddy Roosevelt, and La Follette. He spent several months taking care of his mental health. In 1969, he married a young woman named Virginia Wolfe, who was the daughter of a member of the state legislature. Despite being four years her senior, they became very affectionate with one another and built a very close relationship.

Towards the end of 1969, Mattox III’s father-in-law approached him with an offer to run for Congress with the backing of the Democratic Party. Mattox III agreed, remembering his promise to serve his country. He defeated the incumbent, Rep. Torbert H. MacDonald in a very close primary (49.1%-48.9%); Mattox later said that he would have lost without a minor third contender in the race. Mattox largely campaigned on the platform proposed in 1968 by the DNC, with a few personal tweaks as he had served in Vietnam. Mattox won handily with over 60% of the vote.

In 1971, Mattox welcomed his first children: Isabella and Henry. Just weeks later, however, the family matriarch, Thalia Mattox, died of pneumonia. Mattox III helped support and pass environmental legislation, noise control reform, and educational changes that the Democrats had promised. In 1972, former Rep. MacDonald challenged Mattox for his seat; Mattox won the primary with 53% of the vote and went on to win 67% of the vote in the general election. In 1973, Mattox welcomed another set of twins to the family: Avery and Abigail. Sadly, Avery passed several days after he was born due to complications with the birth. Mattox faced no primary challenger until 1980. His father, Mattox Jr., died in 1969; his aunt Pamela passed in 1983, and his mother has yet to die but lives in a Boston nursing facility. His wife, Virginia, passed in 2008 due to cancer complications.

In 1972, Mattox was an early supporter of Senator Ted Kennedy. When Ted announced he would not run, Mattox almost immediately endorsed George McGovern. In 1976, Mattox endorsed Jimmy Carter, though he feared that the Southern governor wasn't "liberal enough on social issues." In 1980, Mattox endorsed Ted Kennedy and made no comment when Carter received the nomination; he later shared that he cast his vote for Kennedy though he wasn't on the ballot. In 1984, he reluctantly endorsed Mondale. In 1988, he initially backed (fake Jesse Jackson) before ultimately endorsing (Dukakis).

In 1980, Mattox was primaried by a 34-year-old man named Henry Welles. Welles has also served in the military and often attacked Mattox (who was then 45) for not doing enough for all veterans. When it came out that Welles was anti-labor and anti-Kennedy, however, Mattox was able to surge in the polls and clinch a victory. He was not primaried again until 2018 for not being “liberal enough;” he met his attackers by sponsoring bills to abolish the Electoral College, establish a Green New Deal, protect abortion rights, and raise taxes on the 1% by astronomical margins. Mattox is now seen as one of the more liberal members of Congress.

In 2011, Mattox was appointed Senior Whip of the Democratic Caucus, a position that he held until he passed it on in 2019. Mattox proved that he was very firm and able despite his age (76-84), and he served admirably as he made his best to be persuasive among Democrats and Republicans alike. He has also assisted Whips in the Senate and occasionally helped persuade more liberal members of the House to vote one way or another since he left the office of Whip. In 2012, following the unexpected death of his predecessor, Mattox also became the ranking member of the House Judiciary Committee. After the midterms in 2012 took out several members of other committees, Mattox was also appointed ranking member of the House Ethics Committee and a normal member of the Education & Labor Committee. Mattox also received 15 votes for Speaker of the House, including one Republican. Mattox has continued to serve on those committees and is the ranking member of both. Mattox has intentions to leave E&L and stay in Ethics as long as he is able.

In 2016, he actively campaigned for (Bernie Sander)'s presidential campaign to bring about more change in American society. When (Sanders) failed to get the nomination, he reluctantly endorsed (Hillary). (Hillary) offered to appoint Mattox, then 81, as the Secretary of VA. Mattox declined, saying that he would prefer to stay in the Capitol than leave his constituents without someone they can trust. WHen (Hillary) "lost," Mattox was outraged; liked other Democrats, he called for the end of the College, warning that the Wolf Admin would be a disaster for America. Mattox then received 25 votes, 6 of which came from Republicans; they believed that the GOP would win big in 2016 if they could "prove" how the "radical left" was out to get Americans. Mattox did not accept the votes from the Republicans but dud acknowledge the 19 votes he received from his fellow Democrats. "I am honored that you have placed me in consideration for this position, but it is not mine to hold."

Mattox has slowly become less active and vocal in politics. He did not actively campaign but relied on his family, friends, and volunteers to campaign on his behalf while he did the "good work of the people's Congress." That is not to say that he did not host events, however. Throughout 2020, he often held public and private events alike with Senator (Elizabeth Warren), members of the Kennedy Family, (John Legend), and (Bette Midler). Mattix has known (Midler) since the '80s and the two have developed a sense of connection with one another; they are close social media allies, often making humorous jabs at one another or backing each other up on policy or in debates.

After (Biden) was nominated, Mattox spoke on his behalf at the DNC, endorsing (Biden) whole-heartedly though he preferred (Warren). Mattox urged people all across the country to vote Blue no matter what, and like most people, Mattox was again astonished when (Biden) lost by the flimsiest of margins. "This is a bunch of goddamn bats**t," he hissed at the Democratic Caucus's election party. "When the f*** are we going to learn that these goddamn Republicans are going to find a way or die trying? F*** it all to hell!" It is one of two recorded outbursts in his time as a member of Congress where he has uttered a single curse word, let alone five. (The other was at the Watergate hearings where Mattox said "damn" twice.) In 2021, he received two votes for the Speakership as he had previously urged all others to vote by the party line. Mattix has done his best to subvert the GOP's agenda, often holding press conferences or criticizing members of the Republican caucus, such as Congresswoman Durant-- one of his favorite targets.

Strengths & Weakness:
Having served in the Armed Forces and seen war up close, Mattox usually has a thing or ten to say when it comes to foreign policy and diplomacy. He sees China and Russia as equally dangerous, supports finding consensus with allies on foreign policy, and often works with members across the Democratic Party’s political spectrum to get legislation passed. He has been a very critical opponent of Presidents Wolfe and Richardson. In addition to the liberal legislation mentioned from his 2018 primary campaign, Mattox has also co-sponsored anti-gerrymandering bills, anti-hate crime bills, LGBTQ+ rights reforms, Medicare-For-All-Who-Want-It, the abolishment of first-past-the-post, and other progressive reforms. Mattox was reluctant to support the DNC platform in 2020, but did so for fear of retaliation; he did not consider it progressive enough to help the working people of America. Mattox is honest-- sometimes too honest: he sometimes opposes incrementalism because he knows it isn’t enough. At times, he lacks concentration, but he makes up for it with enthusiasm, boundless energy, and a natural joy at being with people. Though a skilled debater and campaigner, Mattox has become more gaffe-prone in recent years due to his age. As one of the longest-serving members of Congress, he receives much respect and is sometimes attacked for being a member of the aging establishment. The following bills are pieces of legislation that Mattox has either sponsored or co-sponsored:
-The Affordable Care Act
-The Green New Deal
-Stimulus funds for the ongoing economic disaster
-Medicaid/Medicare Acts (the 1970s)
-Clean Air Act Amendments
-Clean Air Act
-National Environmental Policy Act
-Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act
-End of the military draft
-Gun-Free School Zones Act
-Trade Expansion Act
-PATRIOT Act
-Taxpayer First Act
-Vietnam War Veterans Recognition Act of 2017

Biography: (Minimum 2-3 paragraphs)
Zahir Muhammad Huriya was born in 1981 in Beirut, Lebanon, in 1981 as the oldest of three children. He has a younger brother and sister. His father was an Arab physician with a small clinic in Beirut, and his mother was an Assyrian full-time mother raising him and his siblings in addition to being a prominent local women’s rights activist. They were both Sunni Muslims and prominent local supporters of the National Liberal Party. He would begin to assist his father in the clinic at the age of 11 as the Lebanese Civil War ensured there was plenty of people in need. His father would help people even if they were incapable of paying, and this would continue till his father and mother were both killed in a bombing in 1995. Young Zahir would go on to volunteer and work with the Lebanese Red Cross until he would join the U.S. military and immigrate to the United States in 1999.

Zahir would serve in the U.S. military as an Army Interpreter/Translator (09L) throughout his military career until he left the service in 2017. He participated on six deployments throughout his military career. Zahir was always interested in conflict and politics growing up during the Lebanese Civil War, and he would become a conflict zone journalist reporting in conflict zones to show the world what so many civilians across the globe are experiencing every day. Quickly many of his articles, photos and videos would begin appearing in major newspapers across the globe. He would also begin a podcast and website covering global news and providing forums for communication directed mainly towards political dissidents and people who live under regimes that are restrictive of media. His media platform has been likened to Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty.

Zahir is well known for some of his unorthodox beliefs including but not limited to his advocacy for world federalism/global government, sortition as a replacement for voting, many drastic amendments to the U.S. Constitution to further limit the powers of government, his support for the Afghanistan Conflict, Iraq War, and American interventions in general as well as his constant 'anti-white woman' rhetoric. Zahir has written multiple books on these topics including, Global Federal Governance: A Time For Global Commitment, Sortition: A New Old Way, A New Constitutional Convention: Changes for Better Governance, and America’s Wars: Justifications & Mistakes.

NS Nation Name: Bavan

Character Name: Doctor Robert Tiberius Washington, E.D.

Character Gender: man

Character Age: 65 (born August 19th, 1955)

Character Height: 6'4

Character Weight: 200 pounds

Character Position/Role/Job:
- Potential Democratic Candidate for Governor of Virginia (present)

- U.S. Representative from Virginia's 4th District (2017-present)

- Mayor of Richmond (2009-2016)

- Superintendent of Richmond Public Schools (2006-2009)

- Lieutenant Governor of Virginia (2002-2006)

- Delegate from Virginia's 70th District (1992-2002)

- Principal of Armstrong High School (1993-2002)

- Social Studies Teacher and Football Coach, Thomas Jefferson High School (1977-1993)

Character Country/State of Birth: Hampton, Virgin

Character State of Residence: Richmond, Virginia

Character Party Affiliation: Democratic

Main Strengths:
- Instantly recognizable name; generally speaking, Tiberius already has a statewide profile and record, a long career in government, and connections at every level of government. He's reforged himself from a young firebrand to a respected elder statesman.

- A favorite of progressives for his stances on Medicare for All, the Green New Deal, and support for Sam Baginski in 2016.

- Talented speaker and orator--frequently referred to as "Mr. Explanation" for his ability to break down and explain difficult policy concepts to the public. His deep Southern baritone and mannerisms stolen from his pastor father only add to it.

- High African-American support, particularly in Richmond and the Hampton Roads area.

- Regular Dude Appeal; Tiberius is no dynastic politico, rather, he's the son of a pastor and a maid from a poor part of Hampton, a high school teacher, who had to claw his way up the ladder of power to where he is now. He frequently emphasizes this fact.

Main Weaknesses:
- Ridiculous name, what the fuck.

- His "Regular Dude Act" falls apart for some when they realize he's been involved in government for nearly 30 years, since he first entered the House of Delegates. Indeed, his Average Joe persona seems like a construct to some voters, who see it as a career politician pretending to not be one.

- Being a progressive firebrand helps in some areas, however, with the mass of more moderate suburban voters (particularly in North Virginia), Tiberius' rhetoric--and, to a lesser degree, ideas--are off-putting and extreme. In order to win another statewide election he must appeal to moderates, independents, and maybe even some Republicans, groups he hasn't had to appeal to since 2002. Being stuck in a safe seat and no longer campaigning statewide, he may have forgotten how to moderate his rhetoric in order to do so.

- Stil stuck, to a degree, in the mindset of being a newly-elected progressive Democrat in a legislature dominated by white Republicans. This leads to Tiberius having difficulty forming relationships with those who are not his immediate allies.

- Difficult relationship with the press.

Biography: Robert Tiberius Washington was born just after noon on August 19th, 1955, in Hampton, Virginia. His mother, Harriet Mae Washington, nee Thompson (1935-2007) was a maid at a fancy hotel, and his father, Julius Claude Thompson (1928-2000), a Baptist pastor. Julius was heavily involved in the Civil Rights movement, a friend of Martin Luther King jr., and raised his children in that environment of protests, marches, rallies, and fiery sermons. Tiberius was enraptured by his father--his booming voice, effortless charisma, and dedication to his cause--and had a tendency to scorn his mother, a gentle woman with a soft smile.

As he grew older, Tiberius was an accomplished football player, a cornerback on his high schools team. Although he very well could have gone pro, he decided against it, feeling his calling was not in sports but in something that could make a difference--namely, teaching, as the pastor's pulpit didn't call as strongly as it had when he was a child and his father was his idol. In 1973 he began classes at Hampton University, staying at home with his parents to cut down on costs. He graduated in 1977 with a degree in Social Studies education, and was hired that fall to teach at Thomas Jefferson High School in the state capital, Richmond.

Name: John Amos Mattox III
Age: 86 (Born January 1, 1935)
Gender: Male
Height and Weight: 6’3; 178 lbs
Party Identification: Democratic (1957-Present); Republican (Before 1957)
Birthplace: Boston, Massachusetts
Place of Residence: Boston, MA
Position: Congressman from MA’s 5th District (1960-Present) Marine (1953-1958; Honorable Discharge); From the 8th (1960-1962); from the 7th (1962-2013)
Biography:
Note on the Bio: I have not always indicated when redistricting has affected Mr. Mattox. Please see Wikipedia or other sources of information for more sources regarding redistricting.
Born in Boston, MA, John A. Mattox III was the youngest of the Mattox children. His sisters, Clara and Annabel, were born in 1931 and 1933 respectively.

In 1953, Mattox III graduated from high school and immediately joined the Marine Corps against his father’s wishes. He told his family that he “wanted to serve his country no matter what” and that he would find a way to do it “every day for the rest of [his] life.” When the Vietnam War began in 1955, Mattox III was one of the first to be deployed overseas. He served for three years and was honorably discharged in 1958. Upon his return, he officially changed his party registration to Democratic as he felt that the party was leaving the ideals of Lincoln, Teddy Roosevelt, and La Follette. He spent several months taking care of his mental health. In 1959, he married a young woman named Virginia Wolfe, who was the daughter of a member of the state legislature. Despite being four years her senior, they became very affectionate with one another and built a very close relationship.
Towards the end of 1959, Mattox III’s father-in-law approached him with an offer to run for Congress with the backing of the Democratic Party. Mattox III agreed, remembering his promise to serve his country. He defeated the incumbent, Rep. Torbert H. MacDonald in a very close primary (49.1%-48.9%); Mattox later said that he would have lost without a minor third contender in the race. Mattox largely campaigned on the platform proposed in 1960 by the DNC. Mattox also served as an early supporter of JFK in the presidential race, often invoking the nominee’s name at various events. Mattox won handily with over 60% of the vote.

In 1961, Mattox welcomed his first children: Isabella and Henry. Just weeks later, however, the family matriarch, Thalia Mattox, died of pneumonia. Mattox III helped support and pass civil rights legislation, healthcare reform, and educational changes that JFK had promised in 1960. Mattox was one of Kennedy’s most outspoken supporters; on many occasions, he was invited to dine at the White House. In 1962, former Rep. MacDonald challenged Mattox for his seat; Mattox won the primary with 53% of the vote and went on to win 67% of the vote in the general election. In 1963, Mattox welcomed another set of twins to the family: Avery and Abigail.

In 2016, he actively campaigned for (Bernie Sander)'s presidential campaign in an effort to bring about more change in American society. "I am honored that you have placed me in consideration for this position, but it is not mine to hold."

Mattox has slowly become less active and vocal in politics.

As the longest-serving member of Congress, he receives much respect and is sometimes attacked for being a member of the aging establishment. The following bills are pieces of legislation that Mattox has either sponsored or co-sponsored:
-The Affordable Care Act
-The Green New Deal
-The Peace Corps
-Stimulus funds for the ongoing economic disaster
-The Civil Rights Act
-The Voting Rights Act
-Medicaid/Medicare Acts (the 1960s)
-Amendments to Immigration and Nationality Act (1965)
-Clean Air Act Amendments
-Clean Air Act
-National Environmental Policy Act
-Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act
-End of the military draft
-Gun-Free School Zones Act
-Trade Expansion Act
-PATRIOT Act
-Taxpayer First Act
-Vietnam War Veterans Recognition Act of 2017

So the only concern others have is that he is too old. Reduce his age to 78 and he is accepted

The PRIME Act, which MARKET was closely modeled after, was co-sponsored in the House by the Democratic Representative from Maine's 1st (Donal's seat), and was introduced in the Senate by Angus King. I'd imagine there's momentum behind such legislation among the state's voters for some reason.

What makes him too old? I saw no age maximum in the rules; Congressman Don Young is 87 IRL.

Yea I dont have an issue with it either. Sarenium does. His argument is that at his age he will have too much influence for a new player. I disagree, but you need 2 admins to approve.

Im pretty happy with this at this point but Saren has taken point on the app thus far.

BTW Richardson probably interviewed her as a VP candidate, she probably didnt get on the short-short list but was likely in the top 10.
