"ဒီဂြိုလ်သားငတုံးတွေကဘာလဲဟ။ ပါးစပ်က ဘုရားဘုရား လက်က ကားရားကားရားတွေ။" (What is up with these stupid aliens? Their mouths say God's prayers, as their hands do inappropriate things.)
Born to both Burmese parents on the planet of Pheron itself, Toee Winn Lin - as his name suggests, is not a very subtle man. His name in its entirety would mean that he likes to shove a little bit into the heat of things, whilst keeping his brilliance and clarity in check. His childhood on his home planet was somewhat normal - he went to school like everyone else, then furthering his studies with a degree in Engineering Physics, solely driven by his love for physics and on how bodies move under the influence of forces around. With his newly-obtained degree, he got himself a door to many opportunities around him, to which he picked up an internship with
Misriah Armory, much to the slight dismay of his parents. "They always told me not to get into the killing business and to be honest, I agree with them. Not much good in furthering weapons that would bring about peace one day, given our history. Still, I told myself back then, this was going to be temporary, and I reassured them that I would only look at the mechanics and physics of it without trying to get too involved." This went on for perhaps a year or two, with Winn Lin being getting himself familiar with the types of weapons and defensive systems that the Armory produced, among many other things. By the time his contract was nearly over, he was already considering a change in career as per his parents' wishes, whom were heading back to Earth in order to enjoy a retirement of their own. "I said to them that I will catch up with them someday, and to enjoy their retirement and all of that. I told myself that I will go back to Earth to enjoy some time with them. Even if I was going to work here for 5-10 years, there's always such a thing as vacation."
Fortunately for his parents, and unfortunately for him, Winn Lin found himself getting caught up in a brewing and escalating series of conflicts. One that involved the Covenant contacting the humans, along with the subsequent actions and consequences to follow. "Lucky for my mom and dad," he said to himself, as he headed to the nearest UNSC recruitment center that was more than happy to take him in. With luck, the conflict was supposed to resolve itself, and everything would have been back to normal. However, Winn Lin heard the news about the meeting that went south, along with the skirmish, and at that point, he knew that it was not going to be such a bright future ahead with the possibility of a war. "And that is why I am here," he said confidently, in the recruitment center with all of his belongings already packed up.
The next few months would have been a quick and grueling journey for Winn Lin, but he pushed on and was determined to get through this for his home planet. "Knowing these guys, I am not sure if they were going to stop at Pheron. If they go after Earth..." he trailed off during one of the sessions with his platoon mates, when upon being asked as to what he thought of the whole situation. He eventually finished basic and went onto further training as a commissioned officer, leading a few of his own men on both simulated and actual missions (after all, a Covenant fleet has showed up). The post-battle reports, along with the many eyewitnesses and peer evaluations, would show that Winn Lin was more or less able to keep his cool in the heat of the battle, even going out of his way to help those under his command, or any other stray squads and groups that he saw fit. At one moment during the war, he got grazed on the cheek by a plasma pistol shot, and as a result, the burns.
"Well, rule number one... try not to temper with your weapon systems too much. Chances are good that they have already been engineered by the manufacturers, and you know, never to modify them beyond specifications. But where is the fun in that, right? Which leads to rule number two... always be careful, and have a backup plan." Winn Lin would be referring to the fact that during his downtime in the weapons range, he and a few like-minded Marines have been tempering with a grenade launcher to accept non-standard rounds. Eventually, he got a somewhat working model of his weapon (after going through a chewing by his superiors), he got himself a nickname - Sabot.
"Loud and proud, and none of those alien fools are going to get anywhere near my friends as long as I am around."
Additional Info:
+ He is pretty good with demolitions and being loud, that much can be said. Almost always getting himself into an explosive situation.
+ His grenades never miss.
+ Will never leave his subordinates behind, preferring to cover their escape and extraction with his dual SMGs, which he honestly could not fire too well since he isn't a Spartan. But the suppressive fire is more than enough.
+ Somewhat of a good driver.
- His loudness can prove to be dangerous if a mission calls for stealth.
- When the going gets tough, he does not break and goes crazy, but he will lost sight of the bigger plan and will charge in to save/kill anything in particular.
- Absolutely not a good pilot. He himself admits that he only has two states - hovering, and crash-landing.
- A little lacking in the marksman department.
