Hey Norv, I hope Truman is ready to see pictures of the US ambassador surrounded by Hindu swastikas at Gandhi's funeral. A cultural divide that his presidency will have to explain to the American people.

That’s not hard to explain at all, I feel. Besides, during the historical funeral of Gandhi, there weren’t a lot of swastikas around. It’s not a funerary symbol, per se. I’d ask you to be careful, because you might be creating situations for the sake of creating problems that stray from cultural and religious practices, which is something to avoid.

I'm going to reapp again on the basis I've often apped for Cuba in other RP's but I think I could make things interesting doing something different as South Africa, with the struggle between the Western-leaning United Party and Axis-leaning National Party alongside the struggle for civil rights between the government and black Africans.

Well I wouldn't be in a place where I would know how far they have gone in processing, but they would be willing to do all above for saving Kliment Voroshilov, however likely not the other two if they are also in jail.
Perhaps the mission could be a semi-success so there is some leads for the Irkutsk Regime to investigate, but under the current political turmoil it would be anyone's guess if they suspected foul play from beyond the borders, or rather thinking it must be an attempt by the hardliners to free their men.

They're in jail currently, going back and forth to court for the proceedings, so either if you snatch them while they're being transported or maybe if you have a contact who can try and smuggle them out of jail without arousing too much suspicion would be the best bet. After they get out it's a long boat-ride out to no-man's land and then a walk over to like Nadym or something where your line of control starts yes?

I'd happily go for partial success, maybe largely successful at smuggling them out of jail but then things go south in Lesosibirsk or Ust-Pit where my line of control ends?

I was thinking perhaps since the assets, or rather sleeper cell relies on using their current guise as NVKD, and SMERSH agents they would be able to bluff their way into getting custody of the primary target, or whatever person(s) you feel comfortable with. At some point however they would encounter internal affairs, maybe like MVD if that is employed in The Restoration Government of the Soviet Union. There, I would imagine their paperwork, or something about them would trigger suspicion and lead to either a shoot-out, or apprehension of some of the members involved, but I feel it would be fair to leave that up to you.

Trawler finally escapes with Voroshilov making it out, though a few NKVD guys and one or two spies and either one or two of the other HV's die and fall overboard so the NKVD fishes out the bodies of one of the HVT's and one agent and the investigation begins on my end while Voroshilov goes to spill the beans in Archangelsk. Sounds like a absolutely splendid idea, however I will leave it up to you who ends up as the casualties in the exchange to allow you to have some room to mold the event taking place.
