History: Essentially the same until the end of WWII. As the Chinese Civil War was winding down, and the Korean Civil War was winding up, the CCP's forces fled to Taiwan and to Korea. Combined with the Soviet Union falling into chaos to the north, some were seeking the stability of a communist state - and Korea seemed to be it. Kim Il-Sung used a mix of his charisma and the gratitude of being an almost savior to the CCP and Soviet forces fleeing into his country to cement his position as the de-facto Supreme Leader of the newly formed Democratic People's Republic in 1950, the year that the Korean People's Revolution finally ended.
Kim Il-Sung also kept his promises, lending some assistance and soldiers to the Taiwanese Autonomous Protectorate, who had officially petitioned to be a protectorate under Korea's aegis and authority due to the assistance they could lend. Privately, the Supreme Leader felt this was a way to cut off China from Western support as he sought to court them in spite of their political and ideological differences. To that end, for the past two years, the Supreme Leader has been negotiating with the US and with Japan about mutual interest protection treaties to protect Japan from Chinese retaliation, along with offering to ensure the fascists never lay their grip upon southeast Asia (all while plotting to try and countermand the Kuomintang's influence in the region, as it is seen as a partially illegitimate government by the DPRK's Chinese leaders - especially those in Taiwan).
Kim Il-Sung is uncertain of who will take over for the US or the state of the Japanese State itself, but is hopeful that he can continue courting their favor by continuing to compare the Kuomintang's ultranationalist tendencies with that of fascism and how communists/socialists and capitalists need not be adversaries in light of the obviously more dangerous fascist/nazi ideology.

-Horthy and the population thought(or at the very least, told themselves) that the Jews would come back after the war. While Horthy has tried to keep some inside, and succeeded, the ones the Reich got their hands on never returned. Now, Horthy has decided to better himself(or his image), and attempt to stop any other actions against Jews, from within and without.
-The country has been ruled by an autocratic regency since the Socialist Republic was defeated, or in other words, for 31, going on 32, years. Horthy's getting old, and a question of what to do with the institution plagues the nation, particularly as Horthy has exerted his powers multiple times.
-The Romanians in North Transylvania are restless. The claim that there was so few of them maaaay have not been exactly true, and with the war over, many figures believe the Romanians will take the chance to pounce, as German aid is unreliable.

History:Siding with Germany in the 1940's, Hungary benefited territorially from the war. The people were happy with Horthy, and his party has tightened its rule even further. However, while the far right elements were discredited by Horthy's lead to victory, they remain, many pro-German and chiefly against the monarchy. The major factions are unhappy that Horthy didn't further appease the Germans to have all Transylvania, and equally angry he didn't rid the nation of the jews. Supported by the fascist faction of the Party of Hungarian Life, they attack both agitating Romanians and Jews. Horthy has tried to stop them, but the party still holds many seats in parliament and manages to erase proof of its more insidious activities. The question of the monarch hangs, as Horthy believes himself unfit. Many believe his youngest son(as the oldest died in an air accident fighting the British) may be a good candidate, while others view a return of Otto von Habsburg or some noble being king as better. A minor faction of the fascists supports crowning a German duke.

The Legacy of the War and Public Discontent with the Government: While the government might have given in, and even built a working relationship with the Nazis. The common people still don't like or trust the Nazis. Britain once the premier world power had been reduced to essentially a mere buffer state, subservient to the Greater German Reich, and the people didn't like that at all, the Prime Minister was voted into power in 1943 because he said that he could negotiate better terms for Britain and he could reposition Britain on the world stage, that he would bring the economy back from the austerity of the war years, and yet nearly a decade later Britons were still on rations as they were in the war years. They were humiliated, they were poor, they were starving, and they couldn't defend themselves. German troops might not have entered Britain, but their presence loomed large, the people don't trust the police, and the King Edward VIII, once popular as the Prince of Wales, had become despised by the British people. He hadn't kept his pro-Nazi views a secret, and he was seen as the symbol of Nazi oppression over Britain, and they had been many plots to overthrow the King and replace with the previous King and his brother King George VI or George VI's daughter Elizabeth.
Revolts in the Colonies: One the reasons that the government cites for the ongoing austerity are the revolts in the colonies, where many resources are extracted. The revolts and lack of stability have deterred investors and entrepreneurs from investing and using the colonies, and it has made it harder to extract the resources, as the workers would often go on strike, or the resources might be tampered with in transportation, and many of the colonies which had gained independence wouldn't let the Brits use them to extract resources. But this issue will have to be solved one way or another as the people aren't going to be content much longer with these reasonings.
A Lack of Allies: The UK now has essentially no allies, while they may be happy to trade with Britain, none of the two major world powers actually trust the United Kingdom, the United States still hasn't forgotten nor forgiven the United Kingdom for signing that treaty of surrender with the Greater German Reich. The Greater German Reich still doesn't particularly trust the UK, especially as it still sees anit-Nazi rhetoric in British, and Britain and her government aren't really on their side in this Cold War either.

History: Our story begins in October 1937 when the then Duke of Windsor and his wife Wallis Simpson first visited Nazi Germany against the advice of the British government of the time, Edward enjoyed the visit and particularly because his wife Wallis was treated like a proper aristocrat with her proper place beside him, something that the two of them were denied in Great Britain, and was the cause of his abdication. Edward met with Adolf Hitler on that visit and the two of them became friends, with Edward believing that Germany and the UK could be allies against communism. Edward would visit twice more in 1938 and would further foster his friendship in the German Fuhrer. Meanwhile the British government led by Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain used a policy of appeasement with Nazi Germany in which concessions were made to Nazi Germany in order to prevent a large scale conflict, though the Germans would always come back for more. This would all come to a head in September of 1939 when Nazi Germany would invade Poland, the British government would decide that enough was enough and declared war on Nazi Germany. Neville Chamberlain would be replaced as Prime Minister in 1940 as his health faltered, his replacement would be the hawkish and eager Winston Churchill. But Nazi Germany would steamroll over Europe, conquering France in a matter of months, the successful evacuation of British troops at Dunkirk in our timeline turns out to a slaughter of the British in this timeline, mostly because of actual competence within German ranks in this timeline to go after the British. With the failure of Dunkirk, the conquering of France, coupled with the Americans only intervening the Pacific theatre a year later, many Brits start to lose hope, they don't see the point in this war as they stand alone, and the speeches and rhetoric of Winston Churchill don't inspire the British people as much in this timeline. But more defeats would come for the British, despite working long and hard the Royal Air Force would lose the battle for superiority over the English Channel, and an invasion of the British Isles seemed imminent. The Conservative Party establishment, especially who had supported appeasement seeing the defeat of the Soviets and the disaster that was to come decided to try to kick Churchill out of power. In a narrow caucus vote Winston Churchill was from the position of Conservative Party leader and thus Prime Minister as the Labour Party withdrew their support of the War Cabinet. An armistice with the Germans was signed and an election was called with Edward Wood, 1st Earl of Halifax, the Former Foreign Secretary and Ambassador to the United States was made Conservative Party Leader. He had been a supporter of appeasement, but had maintained good relation with the United States, and had supported the war at first, though he withdrew that support after Dunkirk and the Americans intervened only in the Pacific theatre. He was seen as the perfect choice being friendly with the Germans and Americans, being able to toe the line between the two of them, he was seen as a cunning politician who could negotiate good terms with the Germans and get Britain out of the war to rebuild the country. That was how he would be branded to the British people and he and his Conservative Party would be elected to a strong majority. Winston Churchill would create his own party in favour of continuing the war and opposing the Nazis, but they would have a bad showing in their first election. But the newly elected Prime Minister wouldn't be able to keep his promise of negotiating good terms, the Germans would play hard ball and they had the upper hand at the negotiation table, Wood knew what would happen if he didn't agree to their terms, the Germans would invade and Britain most likely conquered as the French had been. Wood would eventually agree to their terms and the treaty of peace/surrender with the Greater German Reich which was modelled after the Treaty of Versailles, which the Germans were still salty about. While Britain would not suffer any territorial losses they would be humiliated, the Royal Air Force would be disbanded, the great Royal Navy would be reduced to a mere coast guard, and the British Army would be capped at 100,000. Over the course of the war while the Duke of Windsor was posted as the Governor General of the Bahamas he retained regular correspondence with Adolf Hitler and they would devise a plan to put Edward back on the throne, and that plan would be put into place in this treaty. Edward would be reinstated as King Edward VIII at his coronation in Westminister Abbey and the former King George VI would flee into exile with his family in another former British colony. With this treaty put in place and an aligning of Britain to be politically closer with the Greater German Reich many former British colonies would break all ties with the UK over the next 5 years, colonies already granted independence such as Canada, Australia, and New Zealand would break all, the Protectorate of Egypt would break ties with the British, and India would declare independence in 1947. Other colonies would go up in revolt, and troops would be deployed to deal with especially in the more resource rich colonies, but the rebellions wouldn't often be quelled considering the small size of the British Army, and the government would often need to ask the Germans for support. A kind of informal alliance was formed between the United Kingdom and Greater German Reich, with the King's personal friendship with the German Fuhrer helping a great deal in bringing that along. But at home things weren't very good with the Prime Minister not being able to end austerity and rations as he had promised despite several desperate Keynesian measures, the economy was just too weak and too volatile. There would be an election in 1948 and the Wood government would be deeply unpopular and they would campaign in that election asking for more time and a second chance, the Labour Party led by Clement Attlee would brand themselves as moderate communists using strategies similar to the New Deal in the United States to help alleviate what become a depression as the economy struggled to rebound from the war. But the Fascist Party led by Oswald Moseley would be a surge in support campaigning on an alliance with the Greater German Reich and replicating the success they've had in Britain. But the result would be quite surprising, with the Conservative Party winning the plurality of seats narrowly in Hung Parliament with many rumors spreading about that the election had been rigged. The Labour Party would win the second most amount of seats, but it would be the fascists who would hold the balance of power, and after weeks of negotiation they announced their support for the Conservative Party, and Edward Wood would be back in power. In his second term the government would pursue a closer relationship with the Greater German Reich, but not much would really change and the problems that plagued his government in his first term would do so again in his second. But with another election coming up in 1953 and with rumors that the Prime Minister's health is faltering no one really knows what direction Britain will take, but one thing's for sure, that the British people have had it with this weak government.

Combined with the Soviet Union falling into chaos to the north, some were seeking the stability of a communist state - and Korea seemed to be it. Kim Il-Sung used a mix of his charisma and the gratitude of being an almost savior to the CCP and Soviet forces fleeing into his country to cement his position as the de-facto Supreme Leader of the newly formed Democratic People's Republic in 1950, the year that the Korean People's Revolution finally ended.
Kim Il-Sung also kept his promises, lending some assistance and soldiers to the Taiwanese Autonomous Protectorate, who had officially petitioned to be a protectorate under Korea's aegis and authority due to the assistance they could lend. Privately, the Supreme Leader felt this was a way to cut off China from Western support as he sought to court them in spite of their political and ideological differences. To that end, for the past two years, the Supreme Leader has been negotiating with the US and with Japan about mutual interest protection treaties to protect Japan from Chinese retaliation, along with offering to ensure the fascists never lay their grip upon southeast Asia (all while plotting to try and countermand the Kuomintang's influence in the region, as it is seen as a partially illegitimate government by the DPRK's Chinese leaders - especially those in Taiwan).
Kim Il-Sung is uncertain of who will take over for the US or the state of the Japanese State itself, but is hopeful that he can continue courting their favor by continuing to compare the Kuomintang's ultranationalist tendencies with that of fascism and how communists/socialists and capitalists need not be adversaries in light of the obviously more dangerous fascist/nazi ideology.

History: France was a land drained, not only of men but also of her colonies, having lost the 2nd World War, France had lost all of her colonies and even some of her mainland holdings but thanks to the great loss France embraced a bright new path. This Path was led by the Parti Populaire Français, the party started to rebuild the once mighty France from its ashes of war and declared the National Republic of France. Over time the French populace became more and more pleased with the post-war situation thanks to the guidance of the party and it’s great Chief Philippe Petain, also with some assistance from the Reich to rebuilding efforts. As the party began to implement their way of governing to France a new form of representation was created, the Grand Conseil du Fascime was created so that the common Frenchman can help his nation achieve Fascism for France, the new council allowed for a new age of Fascism in France with many different groups forming within the Parti Populaire Français. Despite all of the great progress done by the government, radicals were still unsatisfied with how France was ran and Tragically on April 25th of 1949, the Chief of State, the great Philippe Petain was killed by communists mongrels on his way to a meeting of the Grand Conseil du Fascime.
After the death of the Chief, the honorable brother Marcel Deat was elected to the position of Chief of State, as chief, Marcel led a large crackdown on the villainous rebels and started a mass agricultural reform to restart the French economy. The Chief’s reforms allowed for the reawakening of the French wine and bread industry, largely thanks to the largest customer, the German Reich, despite the great reform many members of the party still wished to establish what they saw as the right way to run France. As party infighting began to heat up, Chief Marcel announced his early retirement thanks to his family’s concerns for his health, with this news each of the major players in the party rushed to secure their power before the elections. Now with the French Nation waiting for a new leader who will take the helm and lead French fascism and the reins of the French State.
