The other branches of government -the executive and the judicial- work very much in similar ways to the previous US government too, with the legislative branch passing legislation, the executive executing legislation, and the judicial judging whether the actions of either branch are considered constitutional and beneficial for both the working class and the rest of the general population. There is one key difference however between the CSA and the previous USA, that is the president is directly elected by the people rather than by a small group in the Electoral College, finally putting power to decide leaders in the hands of people instead of a small group of the elite.

Economic Description: The Commonwealth adheres to an economic policy called "Syndicalism with American Characteristics." Unlike the usual Syndicalist doctrine of a completely planned command economy, it follows doctrines of Georgism and Mutualism, allowing for local businesses and unions within the country to plan and control their prices within a market. There are still unions and syndicates that adhere to the will of the working class, but these just have the option to adjust production and prices depending on supply and demand. One might say that since in this type of market there would technically be "private" businesses made up of independent workers and therefore still be Capitalist, it's still stretching it a bit since the option of government intervention (as the Syndicates compose a large part of the government anyway) is still there.

As to the organisation of the economy, at the lowest levels are the typical local unions and syndicates, the types you'd see representing several businesses or a factory in a local area. They are then organised under a Bourse du Travail, who help coordinate and organise economic collaboration between the various unions and syndicates, as well as oversees general governmental economic enforcement. They, in simple terms, represent the Federal government's hand on a local level for economic purposes and act as regional representatives for a particular area. And on the national levels are the National Industry Federations, which are groupings of Syndicates (regardless of geography) based on the industry they belong to. It's here that the efforts of syndicates on a national level are represented, coordinated and overseen nationwide, as well as where data is taken from the different syndicates and given to both the federal government and the local syndicates. The level of autonomy for the local syndicates varies depending on the industry: for example, the railroad industry might see the national railroad system be overall centralised and planned by a National Federation, where it'd be different in an industry for a consumer good.

Military Description Being one of the vanguards of the revolution and surrounded on multiple sides by enemies necessitates a strong military force in order to act as both a deterrent and a tool of expansion, a role that the Commonwealth Armed Forces (CAF) most definitely fill the criteria of. The CSA's vast industrial complex means that the CAF has a mass abundance of military equipment, and cooperation with foreign powers, as well as a well-educated population, means that there is no shortage when it comes to the development of new and advanced weapons, bringing the CAF into the forefront of military technology. The CAF adheres extensively to that of meritocracy and retains an extremely rigorous training programme, creating an army of very well trained soldiers and making sure that only the best and most intuitive are there to lead them. The social policies of the CSA are perhaps most clearly seen in the CAF, as both race and gender equality are upheld as key values in the military, with the appearance of coloured and female soldiers being a common sight.

When the main branches of the CAF are not enough, however, the CSA also has the Continental Army. Inherited from the Civil War, the Continental Army is most similar to the National Guard of the old US, composed of a system of both reserve forces and local militias that take part in both military and civilian exercises. Often considered a sort of early stepping stone before joining the army, the Continental Army can be raised during times of national emergency in order to bring up a new army of militias made up of patriotic men and women willing to fight and die fanatically for the commonwealth.

Another rather notable trait of the CAF is the appearance of Political Commissars. Somewhat resembling military police, they're tasked with making sure the CAF remains, first and foremost, a force devoted to the protection of both the revolution and the working class. Educating the soldiery in the wonders of the ideology they're fighting for to raise morale and seeking out any potential dissidents or conspirators against the Syndicalist revolution, they remain a key part of the CAF.

Partly due to the CAF's heritage concerning irregular forces and the US Marine Corps (see below for more details), the CAF is also famous for its special forces units: from frontline commandos to paratroopers inserted behind enemy lines, the CAF boasts some of the best SOF units in the world.

Army: Out of all the branches, the People's Liberation Army is probably both the most rigorously trained and well lead branch in the armed forces, furthermore regarded as one of the finest and toughest in the world. This is in part due to its origins, as most of the men who'd come to form the nucleus of both the regular army and the military leadership during and after the civil war were members of the US Marine Corps: one of the few institutions in the pre-civil war US Armed Forces not neglected by the corrupt capitalist gang. With a proud military tradition, the PLA truly produces some of the finest soldiers and leaders that any military could hope for.

A rival to even the Union of Britain's own naval prowess, she remains at the forefront of the global effort to liberate foreign lands under the hammer and torch.

National Goals: Continue the global Syndicalist revolution and fight injustice against the working class, no matter the place or time.


History : The state of post-Weltkrieg America was one of great trouble and chaos. Divided politics on every level, a failing economy, but most of all corruption permeated every part of American society: all of which were to the detriment of the working class. Men and women of the working class toiled under the oppression of the bourgeoise as they heartlessly exploited the back-breaking honest labour of the common people, just to fill their already extravagant coffers further. The Great Depression only further destroyed the lives of the people, as millions became unemployed while the upper class continued to live in luxury. For years, the whims of Wall Street and mega-corporations remained unopposed, until a man by the name of Jack Reed returned to America during the 1920s. A journalist who witnessed the failure of the Bolshevik Revolution, Reed refused to allow the revolution for workers rights to end with Communism and so decided to try and continue the revolution in America. Reed turned to the camp of Syndicalism in order to fulfil this purpose, and his righteous goal was taken up by the Industrial Workers of the World (IWW). It was around the IWW and him that other likeminded left-wingers gathered in order to advocate workers rights and fight against the bourgeoisie and that eventually, the vanguard of the revolution would come to be in the form of the Combined Syndicates of America (CSA).

When the Great Depression came, the trust between the northern workers of the highly industrialised Steel Belt region and the government started to crack, with many beginning to toss their lot in with the CSA. It wasn’t till the 1933 election ended with the re-election of Herbert Hoover that all trust was lost, and the many members of the working class from Illinois to Michigan abandoned their Democratic Party ties and joined with the CSA-supported Socialist Party of America, earning the region the moniker of the “Red Belt.” Soon a three way power struggle began to grow: the ancient parties of the Democrats and Republicans forming a “Federalist” Coalition, the nationalist America First Union Party rising in the Deep South under the charismatic yet devious Huey Long and the CSA lead Socialist Party dominating the American Midwest represented by John Reed.

The coming of Black Friday only further increased support for the CSA, and secured the Socialist Party’s victory in the 1937 elections with John Reed being elected as the 32nd President of the United States of America. The moment he was inaugurated, Reed almost immediately began a wave of reforms to fix the country: not just from the Great Depression and Black Monday, but also to fix the decades of social inequality the nation had suffered. He signed and sent out countless executive orders to reform the country: from ensuring the right of unions to form and negotiate with their employers, to nationalising certain industries in order to use these corporation’s vast resources to begin rebuilding the economy. Despite his well-intentioned acts, it proved too much for the bourgeoisie. Those in league with injustice and oppression began denouncing Reed and the CSA, with Huey Long lovingly bestowing the president with the nickname “Dictator Reed.” Violence against workers and CSA members alike increasingly rose, as street fighting became common. America was a powder keg, and was only waiting for a spark to light it.

That spark came only a few months after Reed came to power, when General Douglas MacArthur marched on Washington DC in a military coup d’état to treasonously overthrow the president. Fortunately, Reed was warned before hand and was able to flee from DC, taking refuge in the CSA heartland of Chicago. It was from Chicago that Reed proclaimed MacArthur as a traitor, and beseeched Americans everywhere to help destroy the usurper. The situation only declined further as the South rose up in rebellion lead by Huey Long, who proclaimed that he’d both liberate DC from the “American Caesar” and free the nation from the tyranny of “Dictator Reed” under the banner of the “American Union State.” While the East fell into chaos, the West only further added to the fire as the west coast seceded from the union as the “last bastion of American democracy” under the Pacific States of America. Oh, and New England declared itself independent too.

With that, the Second American Civil War broke out.

Though initially chaos and stalemate reigned, the war rapidly changed towards the side of MacArthur and his Federalists. Even with the CSA’s superior numbers and courage, and the AUS’ collection of great tactical and strategic military minds, they were simply not a match for the Federalist forces’ superior training and equipment. It was at this point that the impossible came to be as the AUS and CSA, the great ideological enemies, whose leaders despised each other with a burning passion, decided on a temporary armistice and coordinated their efforts fully against MacArthur. It was here that the CSA’s policy and advocacy for race and gender equality began to pay off, as millions of African-Americans fled to the CSA and rapidly joined their ranks, while hundreds of thousands of women volunteered for service in every branch of the armed forces, finding particular success and infamy in the Airforce.

Beginning to feel pressure from both sides, and with the Federalist’s lack of a major industrial base paired with the CSA’s vastly superior one beginning to ware their supplies down, MacArthur’s forces began getting pushed back. Eventually, DC was liberated by CSA forces, and the American Caesar was forced to flee from the country, with the Federalist front collapsing into a bunch of strongholds and rump remnants spread across the continental US.

Yet the CSA would not find much reprieve, as Canada decided it wasn’t in its best interests to have a major Syndicalist force to their south. And so it was that in mid-1938, a scant few weeks after the defeat of MacArthur, that Entente forces in the north and Pacific States forces in the west advanced into CSA territory. The situation became significantly worse as Huey Long, seeing an opportunity to secure victory, broke the truce and restarted the war. And so it was that the CSA, exhausted, was rapidly besieged on three sides. All seemed lost.

However, there was one thing the Syndicalists possessed that others in the world did not: unity by class. Unity by cause. A disregard of gender, race and nationality.

Seeing their brethren in the Americas about to be crushed, the Syndicalist world came to the rescue. First, it was fellow Syndicalists on the American continent who, after solving their own regional disputes, sent arms and volunteers to support America: Mexicans, Argentinians and Chileans marched north to support the CSA. But soon enough the big three of the Third Internationale pledged their support: with the Union of Britain seeing an opportunity to cripple the Royalist Pretenders in Canada, while the Commune of France decided (after much debate) that securing such a major ally in North America would be more beneficial in the long term than striking at Germany, with the Italians practically being dragged along for the ride. By the height of the war in 1939, tens of thousands of soldiers from across the world, from the Communist rump state Georgia in the Caucasus to the underdeveloped yet strong Bharatiya in India, the Syndicalist world had united behind the CSA.

A lack of coordination between the Syndicalist Bloc's enemies also helped in that regard. The American Union State refused to work with the Entente, continuing to attack the Pacific States and was beginning to suffer from internal strife as the alliance between the Longists of Huey Long, the National Populists of William Dudley Pelley and the various private corporations began to fall apart. Canada was similarly effected as both workers and Quebec Nationalists rose up against the monarchy. Even the German Empire was unable to immediately exploit the situation, with civil order increasingly declining in Eastern Europe and a revanchist Russian juggernaut beginning to rise up.

By 1941, the Entente front had collapsed as Canada capitulated. Among the chaos of the Canadian Cataclysm, the fate of the British Royal Family fell into ambiguity and mystery. Rumours began: of the king's brother, Prince Albert Frederick, beaten to death hung on a lamp post. Of Princess Margaret, defiled by revolutionaries before being disposed of in the Ottawa River. Finally, of King Edward VIII himself, decapitated in front of a crowd of Quebec Nationalists and his head then paraded across Ottawa's streets on a pike. Whatever the facts of the matter, only two definite truths are known: 1) The majority of the Royal Family failed to escape Canada and were never heard of again, and 2) that of the main Royal Family, only Princess Elizabeth Alexandra managed to escape from North America on a Royal Navy ship, fleeing first to the West Indies Federation, then to the Australasian Confederation where she was crowned Queen Elizabeth II, rightful monarch of the United Kingdom, Head of the Commonwealth and figurehead of the Entente, or what remained of it.

New England was reconquered rather swiftly, while the Pacific States continued to resist, pushed back to the Rockies where (ironically with the help of MacArthur Federalist remnants) they dug in and successfully fended off multiple CSA incursions. The AUS was a different story, as they were pushed back all the way to the deep south, with Syndicalist forces on the very doorstep of Charleston and the AUS about to collapse into their very own civil war. However, before the final push could commence to finally defeat Long, tragedy struck in Europe as the German Empire finally recuperated and commenced an invasion of the Commune of France, with their allies in the Danubian Federation and the Kingdom of Two Sicilies launching a simultaneous attack on the Socialist Republic of Italy. Syndicalist forces were forced to pull support out from the CSA and, with the people of the CSA demanding that they go to the aid of the allies who had bravely come to theirs, the CSA decided to finally halt the civil war, signing ceasefires with both the Pacific States and the American Union State.

With a now well equipped veteran army and a massive industrial complex fully geared towards war, the CSA brought its full might onto Continental Europe. The situation was initially dire when the first re-organised and recuperated CSA forces landed in Britain in 1942: by that time France only barely held on to enclaves in the north-west and south, while the Italian Republic had been completely conquered by Reichspakt forces. But as CSA troops began flooding into Europe things began to change as the near-limitless resources of their American counterparts counteracted that of Germany's. Particularly effective was a set of new doctrines developed during the Civil War by AUS General George S. Patton (though later adopted by the CSA too), concentrating on speedy penetrations and encirclements via armoured spearheads, this new strategy of "Thunder Striking" found itself very effective against Reichspakt forces.

-Cold War rises between the Syndicalist world and an Autocratic Alliance lead by Russia, who themselves are co-belligerents with the remnant Entente
-Space Race is happening
-Much of the Syndicalist world is ruled by Totalists (notably Mosley in Britain and Mussolini in Italy), with the Commonwealth one of the only major democracies in the alliance

Economic Description: The Commonwealth adheres to an economic policy called "Syndicalism with American Characteristics." Unlike the usual Syndicalist doctrine of a completely planned command economy, it follows doctrines of Georgism and Mutualism, allowing for local businesses and unions within the country to plan and control their prices within a market. There are still unions and syndicates that adhere to the will of the working class, but these just have the option to adjust production and prices depending on supply and demand. One might say that since in this type of market there would technically be "private" businesses made up of independent workers and therefore still be Capitalist, it's still stretching it a bit since the option of government intervention (as the Syndicates compose a large part of the government anyway) is still there.

As to the organisation of the economy, at the lowest levels are the typical local unions and syndicates, the types you'd see representing several businesses or a factory in a local area. They are then organised under a Bourse du Travail, who help coordinate and organise economic collaboration between the various unions and syndicates, as well as oversees general governmental economic enforcement. They, in simple terms, represent the Federal government's hand on a local level for economic purposes and act as regional representatives for a particular area. And on the national levels are the National Industry Federations, which are groupings of Syndicates (regardless of geography) based on the industry they belong to. It's here that the efforts of syndicates on a national level are represented, coordinated and overseen nationwide, as well as where data is taken from the different syndicates and given to both the federal government and the local syndicates. The level of autonomy for the local syndicates varies depending on the industry: for example, the railroad industry might see the national railroad system be overall centralised and planned by a National Federation, where it'd be different in an industry for a consumer good.

Military Description Being one of the vanguards of the revolution and surrounded on multiple sides by enemies necessitates a strong military force in order to act as both a deterrent and a tool of expansion, a role that the Commonwealth Armed Forces (CAF) most definitely fill the criteria of. The CSA's vast industrial complex means that the CAF has a mass abundance of military equipment, and cooperation with foreign powers, as well as a well-educated population, means that there is no shortage when it comes to the development of new and advanced weapons, bringing the CAF into the forefront of military technology. The CAF adheres extensively to that of meritocracy and retains an extremely rigorous training programme, creating an army of very well trained soldiers and making sure that only the best and most intuitive are there to lead them. The social policies of the CSA are perhaps most clearly seen in the CAF, as both race and gender equality are upheld as key values in the military, with the appearance of coloured and female soldiers being a common sight.

When the main branches of the CAF are not enough, however, the CSA also has the Continental Army. Inherited from the Civil War, the Continental Army is most similar to the National Guard of the old US, composed of a system of both reserve forces and local militias that take part in both military and civilian exercises. Often considered a sort of early stepping stone before joining the army, the Continental Army can be raised during times of national emergency in order to bring up a new army of militias made up of patriotic men and women willing to fight and die fanatically for the commonwealth.

Another rather notable trait of the CAF is the appearance of Political Commissars. Somewhat resembling military police, they're tasked with making sure the CAF remains, first and foremost, a force devoted to the protection of both the revolution and the working class. Educating the soldiery in the wonders of the ideology they're fighting for to raise morale and seeking out any potential dissidents or conspirators against the Syndicalist revolution, they remain a key part of the CAF.

Partly due to the CAF's heritage concerning irregular forces and the US Marine Corps (see below for more details), the CAF is also famous for its special forces units: from frontline commandos to paratroopers inserted behind enemy lines, the CAF boasts some of the best SOF units in the world.

Army: Out of all the branches, the People's Liberation Army is probably both the most rigorously trained and well lead branch in the armed forces, furthermore regarded as one of the finest and toughest in the world. This is in part due to its origins, as most of the men who'd come to form the nucleus of both the regular army and the military leadership during and after the civil war were members of the US Marine Corps: one of the few institutions in the pre-civil war US Armed Forces not neglected by the corrupt capitalist gang. With a proud military tradition, the PLA truly produces some of the finest soldiers and leaders that any military could hope for.

National Goals: Continue the global Syndicalist revolution and fight injustice against the working class, no matter the place or time.


History : The state of post-Weltkrieg America was one of great trouble and chaos. Divided politics on every level, a failing economy, but most of all corruption permeated every part of American society: all of which were to the detriment of the working class. Men and women of the working class toiled under the oppression of the bourgeoise as they heartlessly exploited the back-breaking honest labour of the common people, just to fill their already extravagant coffers further. The Great Depression only further destroyed the lives of the people, as millions became unemployed while the upper class continued to live in luxury. For years, the whims of Wall Street and mega-corporations remained unopposed, until a man by the name of Jack Reed returned to America during the 1920s. A journalist who witnessed the failure of the Bolshevik Revolution, Reed refused to allow the revolution for workers rights to end with Communism and so decided to try and continue the revolution in America. Reed turned to the camp of Syndicalism in order to fulfil this purpose, and his righteous goal was taken up by the Industrial Workers of the World (IWW). It was around the IWW and him that other likeminded left-wingers gathered in order to advocate workers rights and fight against the bourgeoisie and that eventually, the vanguard of the revolution would come to be in the form of the Combined Syndicates of America (CSA).

When the Great Depression came, the trust between the northern workers of the highly industrialised Steel Belt region and the government started to crack, with many beginning to toss their lot in with the CSA. It wasn’t till the 1933 election ended with the re-election of Herbert Hoover that all trust was lost, and the many members of the working class from Illinois to Michigan abandoned their Democratic Party ties and joined with the CSA-supported Socialist Party of America, earning the region the moniker of the “Red Belt.” Soon a three way power struggle began to grow: the ancient parties of the Democrats and Republicans forming a “Federalist” Coalition, the nationalist America First Union Party rising in the Deep South under the charismatic yet devious Huey Long and the CSA lead Socialist Party dominating the American Midwest represented by John Reed.

The coming of Black Friday only further increased support for the CSA, and secured the Socialist Party’s victory in the 1937 elections with John Reed being elected as the 32nd President of the United States of America. The moment he was inaugurated, Reed almost immediately began a wave of reforms to fix the country: not just from the Great Depression and Black Monday, but also to fix the decades of social inequality the nation had suffered. He signed and sent out countless executive orders to reform the country: from ensuring the right of unions to form and negotiate with their employers, to nationalising certain industries in order to use these corporation’s vast resources to begin rebuilding the economy. Despite his well-intentioned acts, it proved too much for the bourgeoisie. Those in league with injustice and oppression began denouncing Reed and the CSA, with Huey Long lovingly bestowing the president with the nickname “Dictator Reed.” Violence against workers and CSA members alike increasingly rose, as street fighting became common. America was a powder keg, and was only waiting for a spark to light it.

That spark came only a few months after Reed came to power, when General Douglas MacArthur marched on Washington DC in a military coup d’état to treasonously overthrow the president. Fortunately, Reed was warned before hand and was able to flee from DC, taking refuge in the CSA heartland of Chicago. It was from Chicago that Reed proclaimed MacArthur as a traitor, and beseeched Americans everywhere to help destroy the usurper. The situation only declined further as the South rose up in rebellion lead by Huey Long, who proclaimed that he’d both liberate DC from the “American Caesar” and free the nation from the tyranny of “Dictator Reed” under the banner of the “American Union State.” While the East fell into chaos, the West only further added to the fire as the west coast seceded from the union as the “last bastion of American democracy” under the Pacific States of America. Oh, and New England declared itself independent too.

With that, the Second American Civil War broke out.

Though initially chaos and stalemate reigned, the war rapidly changed towards the side of MacArthur and his Federalists. Even with the CSA’s superior numbers and courage, and the AUS’ collection of great tactical and strategic military minds, they were simply not a match for the Federalist forces’ superior training and equipment. It was at this point that the impossible came to be as the AUS and CSA, the great ideological enemies, whose leaders despised each other with a burning passion, decided on a temporary armistice and coordinated their efforts fully against MacArthur. It was here that the CSA’s policy and advocacy for race and gender equality began to pay off, as millions of African-Americans fled to the CSA and rapidly joined their ranks, while hundreds of thousands of women volunteered for service in every branch of the armed forces, finding particular success and infamy in the Airforce.

Beginning to feel pressure from both sides, and with the Federalist’s lack of a major industrial base paired with the CSA’s vastly superior one beginning to ware their supplies down, MacArthur’s forces began getting pushed back. Eventually, DC was liberated by CSA forces, and the American Caesar was forced to flee from the country, with the Federalist front collapsing into a bunch of strongholds and rump remnants spread across the continental US.

Yet the CSA would not find much reprieve, as Canada decided it wasn’t in its best interests to have a major Syndicalist force to their south. And so it was that in mid-1938, a scant few weeks after the defeat of MacArthur, that Entente forces in the north and Pacific States forces in the west advanced into CSA territory. The situation became significantly worse as Huey Long, seeing an opportunity to secure victory, broke the truce and restarted the war. And so it was that the CSA, exhausted, was rapidly besieged on three sides. All seemed lost.

However, there was one thing the Syndicalists possessed that others in the world did not: unity by class. Unity by cause. A disregard of gender, race and nationality.

Seeing their brethren in the Americas about to be crushed, the Syndicalist world came to the rescue. First, it was fellow Syndicalists on the American continent who, after solving their own regional disputes, sent arms and volunteers to support America: Mexicans, Argentinians and Chileans marched north to support the CSA. But soon enough the big three of the Third Internationale pledged their support: with the Union of Britain seeing an opportunity to cripple the Royalist Pretenders in Canada, while the Commune of France decided (after much debate) that securing such a major ally in North America would be more beneficial in the long term than striking at Germany, with the Italians practically being dragged along for the ride. By the height of the war in 1939, tens of thousands of soldiers from across the world, from the Communist rump state Georgia in the Caucasus to the underdeveloped yet strong Bharatiya in India, the Syndicalist world had united behind the CSA.

A lack of coordination between the Syndicalist Bloc's enemies also helped in that regard. The American Union State refused to work with the Entente, continuing to attack the Pacific States and was beginning to suffer from internal strife as the alliance between the Longists of Huey Long, the National Populists of William Dudley Pelley and the various private corporations began to fall apart. Canada was similarly effected as both workers and Quebec Nationalists rose up against the monarchy. Even the German Empire was unable to immediately exploit the situation, with civil order increasingly declining in Eastern Europe and a revanchist Russian juggernaut beginning to rise up.

By 1941, the Entente front had collapsed as Canada capitulated. Among the chaos of the Canadian Cataclysm, the fate of the British Royal Family fell into ambiguity and mystery. Rumours began: of the king's brother, Prince Albert Frederick, beaten to death hung on a lamp post. Of Princess Margaret, defiled by revolutionaries before being disposed of in the Ottawa River. Finally, of King Edward VIII himself, decapitated in front of a crowd of Quebec Nationalists and his head then paraded across Ottawa's streets on a pike. Whatever the facts of the matter, only two definite truths are known: 1) The majority of the Royal Family failed to escape Canada and were never heard of again, and 2) that of the main Royal Family, only Princess Elizabeth Alexandra managed to escape from North America on a Royal Navy ship, fleeing first to the West Indies Federation, then to the Australasian Confederation where she was crowned Queen Elizabeth II, rightful monarch of the United Kingdom, Head of the Commonwealth and figurehead of the Entente, or what remained of it.

New England was reconquered rather swiftly, while the Pacific States continued to resist, pushed back to the Rockies where (ironically with the help of MacArthur Federalist remnants) they dug in and successfully fended off multiple CSA incursions. The AUS was a different story, as they were pushed back all the way to the deep south, with Syndicalist forces on the very doorstep of Charleston and the AUS about to collapse into their very own civil war. However, before the final push could commence to finally defeat Long, tragedy struck in Europe as the German Empire finally recuperated and commenced an invasion of the Commune of France, with their allies in the Danubian Federation and the Kingdom of Two Sicilies launching a simultaneous attack on the Socialist Republic of Italy. Syndicalist forces were forced to pull support out from the CSA and, with the people of the CSA demanding that they go to the aid of the allies who had bravely come to theirs, the CSA decided to finally halt the civil war, signing ceasefires with both the Pacific States and the American Union State.

With a now well equipped veteran army and a massive industrial complex fully geared towards war, the CSA brought its full might onto Continental Europe. The situation was initially dire when the first re-organised and recuperated CSA forces landed in Britain in 1942: by that time France only barely held on to enclaves in the north-west and south, while the Italian Republic had been completely conquered by Reichspakt forces. But as CSA troops began flooding into Europe things began to change as the near-limitless resources of their American counterparts counteracted that of Germany's. Particularly effective was a set of new doctrines developed during the Civil War by AUS General George S. Patton (though later adopted by the CSA too), concentrating on speedy penetrations and encirclements via armoured spearheads, this new strategy of "Thunder Striking" found itself very effective against Reichspakt forces.

Peace Keeper Equipment:
The Rider System, compared to Orphnochs, the user of a Rider System is capable of reliably destroying an Orphnoch, the Rider System branches into five main Systems. The Faiz Gear, the Kaixa Gear, the Delta Gear, the Psyga Gear, and the Orga Gear.

The Smart Buckle, the basic device for the Riotroopers, a simple tool that lets them touch into the power of a superhuman, which is now enabled for both humans and Orphnoch, however much, the Smart Buckle pales in comparison against the five Specialized Rider System.
Its Version 2 fares no better with a slight kick up on strength, agility, and defense, however, there is nothing to note, currently, Smart Brain is opting to replace V1 Smart Buckles with the better V2. Although there are much complications with some of them...

The Faiz Gear is a device in the form of a variety of gears and equipment, often kept in a case, the Faiz Driver is the main body that stores the rest of the gear, it is in the form of a belt.
The rest of the Gear is made up of the Faiz Phone, Faiz Shot, and Faiz Pointer. Each of them making up the Faiz Gear. Each piece of equipment has their own use for the Faiz Gear, for example, the Faiz Shot is used for as a Knuckle Duster, whereas the Faiz Pointer is used as...a Pointer. Quite self-explanatory for it.

The Faiz Gear also comes in a pack with its own vehicle, the Auto-Vaijin, which essentially is capable of transforming into a Support Unit Robot that is made to aid Faiz in his battles. The Bike Handle of the Auto-Vaijin can be taken out and used as the Faiz Edge. A Lightsaber of sorts.

The Kaixa Gear is a similar device, a belt with an array of weapons, having less equipment, it comes with the perk of being far more powerful than Faiz in base form, while being less versatile. The Kaixa Gear consists of the Belt, and the some of the equipment that is similar to Faiz, the Shot, the Pointer, which is a binocular instead of a Laser Pointer, and the Kaixa Blaygun, which is a weapon that makes up a dagger and a gun, which saves the need of two separate weapons.

Then there is Kaixa’s Personal Vehicle, the Side-Basshar, able to turn into a bipedal mech, it is armed with 4 barreled Photon Vulcans and a pair of grappling hooks on its right appendage, a six barreled Smart Missile Launcher on the left appendage.

The Delta Gear, a singular system, unlike Kaixa and Faiz, Delta uses a simple pair of equipment, the Delta Phone and the Delta Mover with the mandatory belt. When combined the Phone and Mover form a gun, while in theory, a human can wield the Delta Gear, it is often with hard repercussions of which are instability of the user and a growing addiction and dependency to it. Some humans have been recorded to use the gear in charge of the position as Delta, however many of them had become addicted to the use of it and lost control as well as become ill from the side effects. Unlike Faiz and Kaixa, the Delta Gear doesn’t have a personalized vehicle of its own, rather it relied on the mass-produced Jetsliger.

The Psyga Gear, an irregular system that is more of a lesser system than Faiz, Kaixa, and Delta, having lesser equipment, but does boast a unique advantage of having a jetpack that is loaded with a pair of high powered railgun, capable of firing 120 rounds per second or a high powered blast from the engine. The Jetpack is capable of traveling 820km/h with visible repercussions of G Force, however reports state that humans are unable to use them, making them restricted to Orphnochs only. The Jetpack is controlled by the Tonfa Edge which could be detached and turned into a sword, in return for the inaccessibility of the Jetpack.

The Orga Gear is also in the same category as the Psyga, a singular system like the Delta Gear, it uses the common principle of Belt and Phone, with a blade that is placed by his Gear. The Gear is named Belt of the Emperor and boasts the most power compared to any Gear, in the exchange of mobility, the Orga Gear possesses the highest armor rating with little to no versatility.

The Faiz, Kaixa, Psyga, and Orga Gear possess the same usage of turning into a gun, Single-Mode fires a near-continuous line of laser, while Burst Mode fires singular powerful semi-auto shot akin to a pistol. The Phones need to be recharged via a command after use. They also possess a Mission Memory, which is used to authorize weapon usage.

The Faiz and Kaixa Gear are the only ones to possess a Laser Point/Binocular and a Camera. They are used to deliver powerful finishing blows that nearly guarantees the elimination of an Orphnoch, which can be considered a walking and living miniature tank.

Standard Issue Vehicles:

The Jetsliger, the vehicle is a high-speed vehicle that is used to support Riotroopers. It is capable of traveling as a motorcycle and hoverbike, it can travel up to 1300km/h, capable of flight, hovering, and underwater travel, which severely hinders its mobility. The vehicle also contains two hidden missile racks, each one fires 8 Smart Brain multistage sidewinder mini-missiles that can split into eight more missiles. (64 in total)

The Gyro Attacker, a vehicle that is based on the more technologically advanced form of the Auto Vaijin which is used only by Faiz, and unlike Faiz’s Auto Vaijin, the Gyro Attacker is incapable of turning into an autonomous robot. However, it could go as fast as 320km/h, which is a definite plus for a high-speed vehicle.

History : State of Smart Brain had always been a hidden nation of its own in Japan, Smart Brain simply lives by the motto of “Life is frail. Life is limited. So, why don’t you think about true life? Be smart! True life is your start!”, referencing the life of an Orphnoch. As of now, Smart Brain can convert humans into Orphnoch with a failure rate of 5%. Many within Smart Brain are humans, while many of them are Orphnoch, a statistics indicating a 65 to 35 population of Orphnoch to Human.

The history of Smart Brain first started with the evolution from human to Orphnoch, it was a life that could’ve been for many humans. A life where the strong survive and where the weak die. That was how it started, many humans turned Orphnoch first started as ruthless and savage beings, with a smaller population being smarter and more intelligent beings. However, with the rise of the ideology of Orphnoch Supremacy, one of the founders began to doubt himself and began to deliver the Rider Systems to his students in a school. A secret war had been waged between humans and Orphnochs, while mainly it was unknown to the mass public. It was not until the fact that the founder soon put Yuji Kiba, a sympathetic Orphnoch in the seat of CEO.

By that point, Orphnochs had been more civilized ever since, now they have lived for years on end without a secret war breaking out. It wouldn’t be until the antigen known as the Grey Flood, where the human population quickly dwindled when many humans capable of transforming into Orphnochs transformed, while weaker humans aren’t affected aside from minor coughing and fever.

The State of Smart Brain soon led out the truth that would shake the humans down to the core. However, the assurance of Anti-Orphnoch personnel assured them, even if most were still frightened. An awareness campaign of the heroes known as Masked Riders spread out through the State and the entirety of Japan, the nation where it all started.

The State of Smart Brain isn’t an actual state, it only became so after the transfer of worlds, where a reorganizing of the state was needed. It highly resembles the city of Tokyo, with better infrastructure and all the districts of industrial plants and powerplants.

Considered as the Top Dogs under the CEO, the Lucky Clover are the top dogs of the Corporate, members of the Lucky Clover hold prestigious positions due to their diligence and dedication. The previous Lucky Clover members had been dismissed with most of them being dead, while others live normal lives outside of Smart Brain. The new Lucky Clover is made of Geniuses and Officers.

Takumi Inui becomes a quite obvious choice for the first member of the Lucky Clover after its dismantlement, being the most experienced user of Faiz and the first to unlock its Blaster Form. Haruki Kirishima is the Top Dog of Smart Brain’s Anti-Orphnoch Force and the user of the Kaixa Gear. Syuji Mihara, the current wielder of the Delta Gear is chosen due to his high compatibility with the Delta Gear. Naoya Kaido is the fourth member, who received the Psyga Gear, mostly for the fact that he was Kiba’s close friend and accomplice, but he also was trusted and stayed true, becoming more of a political officer than anything, but his combat expertise still holds up against adversaries.

Elaboration on Orphnoch:

Orphnochs, an evolution of human beings to the next level, had been reviewed under various experimentations until the founding of the Stage V Orphnoch, which is able to survive for a whole human lifetime, compared to the previous assessments where many died from hyper aging symptoms. However, reports say that Orphnochs have extended life periods, this has not been confirmed as of now.

They are also superhuman in nearly everything, many of them vary, however, Modern Orphnochs are mainly not as savage as before and prefer diplomacy. If an Orphnoch goes rogue and goes against the laws placed for Orphnochs, Masked Riders or Peacekeepers will be deployed to neutralize them.

Even in human form, weapons seemingly have limited effects against them, not to mention their Orphnoch forms, which take the form of animalistic and plant life forms.

An Orphnoch can tap into Violent Emotion, a further evolution to refine their Orphnoch forms. Becoming far more savage and hostile compared to their original form, this however can be reverted with enough damage sustained.

Weapons such Anti-Tank Guns are reported to be the only thing seemingly injuring them. However, engagements are advised to be made by Peacekeepers and Masked Riders.

“Well, on that case, should we send our Wikings?” Adrian Quisling, Chancellor questioned as the men and women began muttering to themselves.

“Order. Order.” The man with a Warglorian dress uniform sighed, the Reichsauseher, Joseph looked at the board before he got up. “The Warglorians had not gone to join the war…and we are here discussing it?”

“An Anti-Monarchist Regime is threatening us, no matter how small, such ticks had been exemplified by the Traansval, a Democratic Republic turned into a Communist Menace with a civil war, and then ignited a communist revolution in Rannoria.”

“True, despite their distance, they had ignited a revolution from Indianum to Europa.” Janet, the Grand Admiral, present in the Invasion of the Bog nodded, a grimace upon her face. “It’s terrifying to think about what they could do despite the range.”

“Well, they aren’t that clever compared to those other two when they openly fired on two Nihonese Destroyers and sunk those ships.” Adler shrugged. “They just openly attacked the patrol and then they’re going to get the 3rd Largest Navy up their ass.”

Military Description
Army:
Consisting of barely 8,500 Garrisons, with an additional elite troop of 1,000, Prussia won’t be able to form any form of minutemen, however, this is countered by their use of a wall named the Wall of Pomerelia, that covers the Hinterpommern border as it was a hostile nation. While lacking in number, the Elite Troops are what can be called supersoldiers and are able to sustain a barrier around themselves and repel assault rifle rounds.
The Army also invested in Armored Vehicles such as the Standardpanzer III Ausf B, which is an upgrade from the preexisting Leopard 2, the IKW II Ausf D, which is the equivalent of the Puma, the MSW II Ausf B, which is the equivalent of the Boxer. There are other various support vehicles but lack the importance to be relevantly addressed.
Currently, there are 34 Exterminators, out of the total of 91, who are residing in Prussia. Due to limitations, there are no ways to pull back the other Exterminators into the current universe. The current roster includes the five Arbiters of the Apocalypse, the six Deadly Sins, as Mammon is currently out for his contract, the six Holy Virtues, and the rest being the extras from other Myths and Famous Figures. While Exterminators can be considered Anti-Army, most of them only act in self-defense and within contract.

Contracts will not include destroying nations, and killing people, but are mainly more to pest control. So, they aren't willing to fight fellow humans, unless the target is there own nation. By then, they will fight against whoever dares invade.

National Goals:

At first, Prussia is supposed to house Humanity in the case of a Human Extinction Event, but with that out of the way, and a United Germany, the Cabinet has begun to find desperate measures as Livonia, their manpower pool had not been transported with them, instead there is a Livonia under Japanese control. One that seemed to carry a human subspecies, in the North is essentially a United Scandinavia, opposed to a hostile Denmark, Norway against a Sweden-Finland Union, South was (currently empty). Now their choice is to either strike a deal with the Livonians, or have good relations with the Communist Germany on their front door or essentially defend Prussia till their death.

With Genesis’ influence being limited, it seems that Prussia might be in for a pinch than they might’ve thought beforehand.

History:

With the beginning of 2000, Earth imploded with magic, USA became a barren wasteland, with the new Superpower being addressed to China, and due to the world’s fall into anarchy, Asia became a safe haven and essentially isolated themselves from the chaos known as Europe and America. Prussia once again became a nation after Ultranationalists rise and resist the Demonic entities/Magical creatures that slaughtered the majority of the Prussian land citizens.

And due to their success, the land had been settled by the True God who overrode the Nordic and Pagan God Pantheons’ rule over Prussia and settled with his own, causing Prussia to be a safe haven if a Human Extinction event were to occur with the Holy Trinity’s Union to form a bridge to the Realm of the Gods.

To prevent that, the True God, who created the Pantheons had decided to assemble his own peacekeepers to not allow the deaths of Humanity, mainly for his own amusement. However after the conquest for Livonian lands, Prussia had been brought forth to another world and universe where others are brought forth. Nations new and old, familiar and alien.

National Goals:

Security of the Albas and Celenas against the Legion and the Empire of Giad, which had fallen. With the Albas threatened, any ethnics not pure shall be dubbed a pig in human form. Long live San Magnolia!

History:

San Magnolia is a relatively democratic nation, which was once a Monarchy, said Monarchy was overthrown by the Saint, San Magnolia. After the revolution, San Magnolia is dubbed the first modern Democracy in their previous world, however the expansionist Empire of Giad had decided to invade their neighbors to subjugate them.

However amidst the war, contact with the Empire of Giad ceased, seemingly rumoring that they too had fallen, without their Empire, the Legions, the drones that were sent by the Empire scurried around the battlefield. Continuing their conquest to eliminate all human lives as had been written by their programs in case of a Giadian fall.

Meanwhile in San Magnolia, the Albas, the Majority of the ethnics had turned heads against the Coloratas, banishing them into concentration camps, but instead of being genocided, fate has a crueler twist, for them to be recognized as a citizen.

They must serve in the war for five years and then they will return to the Republic as a respected citizen. Millions tried. Millions failed. No one was able to survive the Eastern Front against the Legion, even when they are veterans, all of them met the same fate.
So when the world shifted, geography decided to pull a sneaky against them. Forcing the Albas into three regions, the mainland as well as two island states.

Do note, btw, that while you can app as multiple nations if you want, it's probably best that you don't unless you REALLY can't pick between nations or it's under special circumstances. Apping as multiple nations just means less land for other potential players to app as: essentially, you're potentially killing players before they can even app, as you might take land that they wanted to have in the first place.

Baharuthia apping as three nations is an exception, as all three nations are super small and are all contiguously connected in the same territorial region: essentially, he's taken the land of one nation and split it into three for his own purposes.

So, yeah, please try and stick with just one nation unless it's under special circumstances (like maybe the other nation is SUPER minor to the point where it doesn't matter).

Now, one nation+a bunch of organisations that don't occupy land though? That's a whole other ballgame, and should be fine.

No, I’m just a PoD enjoyer who wants to clarify stuff and doesn’t want this iteration to fall on its face as PoD typically does.

There’s also a lot of discussion going on in the discord, and I wanted to make sure the OOC doesn’t die because everyone’s taking in the discord. I also wanted to make sure that anyone who isn’t on the discord, including prospective players who might join later, is aware of all the stuff we’ve been talking about and agreeing on.

Government Description: The Kingdom of Alyaska's government has three branches as per the Constitution of Alyaska (And Russia) of 1920, which has an amendment process and has been amended numerous times.

First, the responsibilities of head of state and supreme commander of the Alyaskan Defense Forces fall to the Royal and Imperial Throne. As such, the current Tsar/King or Tsarina/Queen - or their Lord or Lady Regent, if they are a minor - act as the face of Alyaska as well as its primary military commander and defender. The Royal and Imperial Throne also has some powers of head of government - nominally, they have some level of veto power, and can make executive appointments to certain ministries and parts of government as Royal Representatives to keep them informed as to government operations. The real power over executive governance, however, predominantly lies with the Chairperson of the Senate.

Second, the Governing Senate - usually nowadays merely referred to as the Senate - is the legislative branch. After the reforms made in the 1920 Constitution and amendments since then, the Senate has two houses: the upper house is the Royal Council, whose membership reserves half of its seats for nobles/royals or their representatives, alongside other people who have done Alyaska an “exemplary service” and gain a seat as a reward. The other half are directly elected by the populace. Since 1945, the Chairperson of the Royal Council is elected by the Royal Council rather than appointed by the King or Queen.

The lower house of the Senate is the State Duma. All deputies in the Duma are elected by popular vote, and the Chairperson of the Duma has always been elected by the Duma itself. Between the two houses, the Senate also has the ability to appoint a Chairperson of itself. The Chairperson of the Senate's term lasts until elections for the Senate at large happen. After an election happens and the new government is sworn in, the Chairperson of the Senate is elected by the Duma as a separate position from the Duma's Chairperson and then the candidates from among them are approved by the Royal Council; usually, this ends with the Chairperson of the Senate being of the majority party/coalition in the Duma, but the Vicechair being of the opposition party or coalition. The Chairperson of the Senate makes all executive appointments not reserved for the King or Queen, and is generally the overseer of the legislature and government at large, including holding large powers to enforce law and protect the nation from internal threats.

The last branch of Alyaska's government is the judiciary, which is unique in that - aside from the Supreme Court of Alyaska - all judges are elected based on strict requirements (e.g. education in Alyaskan law, international law, etc.) with juries selected by lot. The Supreme Court of Alyaska, on the other hand, has five Justices. Two Justices are selected by the Chairperson of the Duma and approved by the Duma, two Justices are selected by the Chairperson of the Royal Council and approved by the Royal Council, and the Chief Justice is appointed directly by the King or Queen. Regardless, though, all selections must have served a minimum of a decade in lower judiciary branches, and thus have some experience interacting with the people and adjudicating law, etc.

Territorial Ambitions: Alyaska used to claim all of Russia, but nowadays it is mostly content, though there are some border conflict issues with their native US and Canada.

Majority/Official Culture: Russian.

Majority/State Religion: While it is not a state religion and there is some protections for freedom of religion, most citizens of Alyaska are members of the Alyaskan Orthodox Church/Russian Orthodox Church.

Major Industries / Economic sectors: Alyaska has massive gold and oil reserves, and so predominantly uses these to its advantage for exportation/trade. In turn, its few industrial cities are able to be pretty active in a variety of fields based on imported raw materials.
Amount of Industrialization: Alyaska is extremely industrialized, especially in the "Alyaskan Columbia" and "Northern Cascadia" regions.
Economic Description: The Alyaskan economy relies massively on its massive oil and gold reserves economically speaking. These exports allow it to import much of the raw materials it needs along with some finished products, thus allowing them to fuel local economies in their cities/more populous areas by creating factories and refineries to ensure that Alyaska has access to refined materials/has access to maximum quality of life. If the gold or oil reserves ever ran dry, Alyaska would not necessarily collapse, but it would suffer for a while.

Technological Level: Approximately modern tech, but more 2030s-ish.
Magic and other shenanigans?: None of that.

Military Description

Army: The Alyaskan Defense Forces/ADF are some of the most well trained and well armed/armored soldiers in the world. The ADF's battle prowess, among other things, are what allowed it to maintain its sovereignty after the “Great Exodus.” Regarded as some of the most dangerous military forces on its world, the ADF makes up for the fact that it only has approx. 110,000 active soldiers with the approx. 300,000+ in the Reserve Forces alongside its training, discipline, and technological advancement.

Navy: The Alyaskan Naval Forces/ANF are predominantly dedicated to defending Alyaskan coasts and oceanic oil rigs, and while they are pretty advanced, the ANF has a special deal sponsored by the Royal Government through treaty with the United States and Canada that their navies will assist in any naval defense of the Alyaskan nation. Thus, it has little to no naval projection power, and only has about 70,000 seamen.

Air Force: The Alyaskan Air Force/AAF is largely created for similar purposes as the ANF, but protecting Alyaskan air space and committing to rescue operations in the Alyaskan wilderness or far north during winter when things are most dangerous. The AAF usually ends up asking for assistance from the USAF or Canadian Air Force or their bases. The AAF has only 30,000 airmen.


National Goals: Retain stability; some ultranationalists in government still want to reconquer Russia.


History: The Kingdom of Alyaska finds its origins as a Russian Imperial colony. By sheer luck and happenstance, some of the earliest colonists discovered massive gold reserves even in the lower mountains nearest to the coastal camps and settlements set forth by the Empire at the time. As a result of this, many people from far eastern Russia began emigrating to Alyaska and the regions nearby; combined with the sheer amount of gold being found, Russia was practically saving itself from some of its economic troubles and even then there was enough for the colony's own development.

Russia eventually bought Columbia from the British after they suffered an economic downturn, alongside occupying part of Cascadia, eventually settling parts of it and claiming it. Unfortunately, Russia's economic prosperity couldn't last - in spite of the gold reserves, it all began to fall apart after suffering multiple losses against Japan - some of which cut off the Alyaskan trade - alongside the massive losses during the Great War. As a result, the Russian Revolution still happened - but this time, the Whites alongside the Imperial family realized there was no salvaging the situation, and so they fled in exile into Alyaska, which welcomed them with open arms due to their continued prosperity.

The Kingdom of Alyaska was founded using their 1920 Constitution, officially making the nation a constitutional monarchy and sovereign from the Soviet Union. The United States, alongside Canada/Britain, lent their support to Alyaska to maintain their independence as they built themselves up. During WWII, Alyaska discovered its massive oil reserves - both coastal/sea-based and land-based. As a result, the Kingdom of Alyaska was made prosperous once again by massive amounts of gold and oil being shipped to the US and Canada for the duration of WWII, and then became an oil-and-gold based kingdom afterwards for much of the Cold War.

The Kingdom of Alyaska began importing raw materials to finance its economy by kickstarting industries in their growing cities that were growing as a result of immigration and a minor population boom. Between this and its exports, the Kingdom became one of the richest nations in the world. And it used those riches well, investing more in its people, economy, and military. By the modern era of 2030, the Kingdom of Alyaska had lost its lofty ambitions of reclaiming Russia - even if it doesn't recognize the Russian Federation - but was now content as one of the richest and most well-off/advanced nations in the world.

Population: The NSRS has a population of 16.93 millions, heavily concentrated in the south of the country.

Majority/Official Culture: Culturally, the primary languages of the inhabitants are 42% Low Scandinavian, 26% High Scandinavian, 20% Standard Finnic, 4% Esperanto-B, 3% Arctic Finnic, 2% Saxon, and 2% Panslavic, with Caledonian, Southern Finnic, and Baltic making up most of the remainder.

The Commonwealth nominally recognises the multicultural nature of its population and does maintains a legal equality between its three governing languages of Low Scandinavian, High Scandinavian, and Standard Finnic, with the state obligated to provide at the public expense translators across these three languages for anyone seeking to access a public function, whether that be an ordinary citizen filing taxes of a parliamentary representative debating in the chamber. Arctic Finnic and Caledonian also has some degree of regional and local government recognition while Southern Finnic is unofficially tolerated. However, the Esperanto-B, Saxon, Panslavic, and Baltic speaking communities, generally regarded as foreign to the Commonwealth despite being citizens, are often actively persecuted by the state or by populist mobs.

Economic Description: Like many other states of what used to be the core territories of Old Eurasia, the NSRS maintains an industrialised, mostly autarkic, and mixed economy. Although the Commonwealth is large enough to be broadly self-sufficient in terms of natural materials, it is dependent on elerium extracted from the Norwegian Sea and Arctic Ocean seafloors for energy, which forces the NSRS to remain highly sensitive to Arctic diplomatic affairs.

Average incomes and the standard of living are very high compared to its neighbouring states, which the State mostly uses to keep its working class in a state of perpetual decadent contentment to maintain social stability. Especially notable is the healthcare industry in the NSRS, which not only cracked the problem of human aging but also produces a quantity of recreational narcotics and other mind-altering drugs that is almost unheard of in other countries. Also notable is the holographic filming industry, which is both enormous in volume and technologically sophisticated, heavily subsidised by the State to produce mind-numbing droll for the masses.

Communication infrastructure is very well developed across the NSRS, with high-bandwidth telecommunications being available even in the untamed wilderness of the Commonwealth's arctic territories. Coverage of other forms of infrastructure, however, is rather sparse outside the major cities. Rail lines do connect the smaller rural towns and villages, but bulk cargo transportation is done by ship whenever possible (which is often, as the population is also heavily coastal) and passenger transportation of any kind is only maintained at a very minimal level.

Technological Level: Post-modern technology (think XCOM, Brave New World, or Fallout).

Military Description

Army: The army, or Commonwealth Ground Command, sees relatively little in volunteers or funding compared to the other two branches. Like the navy, it is organised into broadly independent units, consisting of three regular brigades (each 4,500 personnel), one boreal brigade (3,900 personnel, specialising in deep forest warfare), and one alpine brigade (also 3,900 personnel, specialising in mountain or polar warfare). Military police are integrated into the regular brigades. Also similarly to the navy, Commonwealth Ground Command is designed on an ambush doctrine, counting on its navy and air force to give it almost total superiority in reconnaissance and support and exploiting the inability of its rivals to supply a large force in the Commonwealth's poorly-developed northern hinterlands.

Navy: The navy, or Commonwealth Naval Command, is by far the branch of prestige in the Commonwealth Armed Forces. It is organised into three largely self-sufficient fleets with their own air support, logistics, et cetera. Each fleet is organised around a battlefleet of battlecruisers, heavy cruisers, light cruisers, and destroyers. This is supported by a few reconnaissance task forces with one light cruiser and a couple destroyers each, a submarine detachment of a few vessels, and amphibious assault craft. Each fleet also commands a company of rangers (coastal rangers for the 1st and 2nd Fleets, arctic rangers for the 3rd), which are elite air-transported infantry of 120 troops and 400 support staff each. Organised outside of these fleets is the marine brigade of 3,900 troops. Commonwealth Naval Command is designed around a raiding fleet doctrine, a reflection of the fact that it has few strong seagoing neighbours capable of meeting it on even terms on the sea. Ships are compact, fast, and stealthy, but not very heavy in armaments or armour.

Air Force: The air force, or Commonwealth Aerospace Command, is designed to work more cohesively, unlike the navy and army's preference towards self-sufficient units. It consists of seven air divisions, each six wings of 20 aircraft, and a specialised reconnaissance air division. The air force also commands three companies of airbourne rangers, three of paratrooper rangers, and the Commonwealth's military satellites. The air force is designed mostly to maintain air cover over friendly territory and provide the navy and army with an intelligence advantage, with relatively limited direct ground attack capabilities and highly limited strategic bombing capabilities.

National Goals: The decisions of the Commonwealth are guided by two overriding objectives: the first is to continue to develop socially disruptive technologies such as artificial intelligences and genetic engineering, while the second is to maintain internal tranquility and social harmony.

History: Although the sheer volume of archaeological evidence makes it impossible to deny that organised societies, mass production, bureaucratic states, and writing all existed long before the atomic era, conventional historiography places the beginning of civilisation and thus history at the detonation of the first experimental atomic bomb, now year zero of the socialist calendar (0 nuclear era). Human history in the atomic era can be broadly divided into three sections. The Threeist era, the Warlords era, and the Rebirth era.

The very first decades of the atomic age saw the three atomic superpowers, Oceania, Eurasia, and Eastasia, rapidly consolidate their power by conquering the various minor tribal nations into which the Earth was at that point divided, beginning the Threeist era (also known as the era of Totalitarian Socialism). The Threeist era was characterised by a permanent war between the three atomic superpowers. As the important fronts began to stalemate, the primary theatres of conflict moved from Western Europe, Central Asia, and Southeast Asia in the first century or so, to the Middle East, India, and the Pacific islands in the 2nd and 3rd Centuries, and eventually to the polar regions and Central Africa - areas of relatively little strategic value - by 350 N.E. Society of the threeist era was characterised by a dogged pursuit of social stability at the cost of social flexibility or adaptability.

The Cataclysm, a nuclear exchange of unknown cause devastated the world and resulted in the dissolution of the threeist superpowers, beginning the warlord era, a period of confused conflict between various warlords, rioter-states, and splinter remnants of the threeist superpowers during which a population that knew of no political views other than Totalitarian Socialism ideologically adapted to the end of permanent war between stable superpowers. As none of the three superpowers had any great reason to turn their war nuclear, and indeed records reveal that they had safeguards against that very possibility, it is theorised that the Cataclysm was entirely accidental in nature.

As civilisation recovered from the shock and devastation of the Cataclysm, more-or-less stable countries emerged, led by ambitious men more interested in carving their new and unique path into the future than continuing to squabble over the economic and ideological legacies of threeism. This period is generally termed the Rebirth. No clear delineation between the Warlord and Rebirth eras, in the same way that the Cataclysm separates the Threeist and Warlord eras, exists, but conventional historians generally place the date sometime in the late 7th Century.

Northern history properly begins in the 5th Century during the early Warlords era, when the Baltic State, a splinter remnant of Old Eurasia, was divided into two as a prole riot overran Scandinavia. The overrun northern provinces would eventually develop into Norden, while the intact southern provinces would eventually consolidate under (for the southeast) Baltica and (for the southwest) the Brotherhoods of the Sword. Early Northern history is characterised by incessant strife between the various warlord states of Scandinavia and the ideological wars between the post-Neobol states of Denmark and Norway and the post-Ingsoc states of Britannica, which did not succeed in their stated war aims - the conversion of the Albionic and Caledonian states to post-Neobol Socialism - but did succeed in conquering the North Atlantic islands into Scandinavian hands and resulted in the introduction of Britannic ideological developments into Scandinavian political thought.

The combination of this influx of new ideas and ideological disturbance in the heartlands of Old Eurasia itself resulted in the formation of a uniquely Northern style of Socialism, called Parliamentary Socialism, that swept across the Scandinavian states in the early 9th Century, spreading nationalist tendencies along with it. The Commonwealth itself was founded by a diplomatic unification of the Scandinavian states along these same principles in 870 N.E., expanding eastwards in a series of liberation wars fought in the 870s. The NSRS today is a regional power that dominates the North and Arctic Seas, but its new neighbours in this new world are a lot larger and more resilient than those that they have gotten used to in their old world...
