Gender:male
Appearance:tall and slender, he has his father's eyes and raven dark hair, which he keeps short and contrasts with his pale complexion.

Inherited Ability: Shape shifting and strength. When he is angry he becomes even stronger.
Background(This doesn't have to be long, just something of how and where they have lived growing up):
Azron doesn't know his mother or anything about her. He was raised by a shepardess after he had been entrusted to her by Ardemia. The Goddess would some times visit him and even took him hunting. However, she stopped visiting years ago without explanation. Azron's foster mother and her flock were captured by raiders, four years back. Since then he has been searching for her and killing thief's of all sorts as revenge.

You mentioned unknown for age. I suspect it will be desired that the actual age be between 12 and 14.

His age is somewhere in that range. Although I thought about having him age differently. Effectively he is 12.

By the way, is there a reason that the gods started reproducing about 12 years ago and then abandoned the world?

Thank you

I am unsure. It sounds like they didn’t start reproducing 12 years ago. It sounds like that’s when they stopped, so the youngest demigods are now 12. It sounded like they left because they were annoyed with something, but it’s kind of obscure at this time.

I have just read through the other applications and realized that there is another shape shifting spawn of Mycron. Therefore, I might makes some changes. However, I will have to wait till tomorrow. I am open to suggestions.

Alright, I'll wait until after you're done with changes to accept or not. A couple notes/questions.
If you keep strength, is this stronger in general(since the kids already will have this by default) or stronger compared to the others as well? And careful with the anger part, it isn't a problem itself but I don't want 'protagonist powering up and winning through rage' to become a thing. It's okay to have, let's just watch how it's used.
Is there a reason Ardemia took an interest in him? This doesn't figure into him being accepted or not, I'm just curious since it is Armir's mother as well. Along the same line, what's his attachment to the moon child?

Application
Name: Tilian of Morgana
Age: 14?
Gender: Male
Appearance: Here
Divine Parent Influence: Treoir - God of Shepherds, Council, and Song
Inherited Ability:
  • Guardian of the Flock [Minor] - A good Shepherd is responsible for looking about his flock and knowing all its members and what may threaten them. As such a true Son of Treoir may be privy to sensing the true nature of a person or any danger that may threaten themselves or their flock, Tilian is no True Son. His divinity is diluted, his feelings of right and wrong in a person are misty and glimpses of harm to himself feeble and weak as a soft wind blowing against his ear; near silent lest he makes true to listen to their chatter
  • A Melodic Gift [Minor] - An inheritance, though loose, of Authority from Treoir which rests in the recesses of Song, though whose true power and function is not known but assumed be of a mystical sort
Background:
As the old legends and tales had told Treoir was not there when the Gods themselves first graced the land with their bounty. Those who claim the title of the Elder Gods, though in these times their age is equated all the same, had no need for the representation of what was the craft of man. They were the truths of the world as it were, representing the pillars of the land and of the world. Order, Chaos, Life, Death, Nature, all concepts that were unique to the feeble notions of man. To be sure they would be adopted and molded to the wills of man, such is their greatest gift which no God in all their power could ever hope to replicate or surpass. New concepts came into their being; Reason, Deception, Music. Ideas that were definiatively human in their perception. Perhaps, one and the Gods themselves, may argue the concept had always existed in some capacity; Animals knew of life and dead, birds chirped their songs, and the strong triumphed over the weak, but it was Man who drew forth and rationalized these into something tangible with their mighty innate gift.

Treoir was one of these; those that came after the origins of the Elder Gods and the creation of Humans. He was rationalized out of concepts that had already existed in the minds of Man and practices of their hands. From humble beginnings the first inklings of civilization rose and sprung forth many concepts to be made into Gods or perhaps to draw the Gods to the mortal plain, none truly knew the answer. Man kept many an animal in their cities and town; leaders of man called forth wisdom and experience to guide their peoples to prosperity and greatness, and melodic voice stolen from the birds and crickets and toads of the woods and woven to the needs of Man to convey the many feelings of the soul normal words faltered against. Treoir was a Young God, at least in the eyes of those who had come before the inklings of Man and those erected within their earliest days. Yes, Treoir had come whence Man had already settled and civilizations began a climb towards greatness in recreation of the Kingdom of the Gods themselves, hubris be damned. He was far from a powerful God, his authorities few and niche in their reach. Simple and specific concepts he ruled, and with them only came mediocre powers. No great sagas or odes were written about the deeds of his Son and Daughters, in a twist of irony, nor were there legends of battles He had fought whence still semi-mortal, for he had been put a Man, great at that but a man nonetheless, nor of great services He rendered onto other Gods. Sure, advice had been shared here and there for Council had its place in any Kingdom, but all too often was overlooked in the face of Wisdom, Deception or Logic.

Yet, for all it was worth He was still a God beloved by the people of the land. He brought safety to the animals which were essential for Man to continue its stride towards greatness and subtle advice had saved many a Kingdom and man alike from ruin on occasion a many. Though He may not have been responsible for the great concept of Music, He presided over a certain form; Song which was popular much in the age when stories were told by mouth rather than by pen. Treoir was known as a tamer God, kind and caring to His Mortal child as much as a God could be, and rarely one to get into arguments or fights with His fellow divines. Patience was a core of Treoir's existence to the point it was surprising it was not included among his Authorities, though some may point to Council as such. His influence was small and issues born of Him were small reaching in their effects upon Man and his gifts and blessings simple to gain favor of.

Thus, it was strange when the Young God fell silent. None were sure the reasoning for such, and many had passed around. Some believed He had simply faded, Man no longer needing his influence and protection as it once had when it was young or that his primary Authority, which had long since become Council, had simply been absorbed into the influence of a more powerful Authority, such as Music or Wisdom. Others believed He had gotten tired of the world or his influence on Man. Though few Heroes had been born of Treoir many a King had. They were reasonable and sensible men who had lead their people to prosperity and peace. They did neither stain their hand in blood in war nor drive their people to collapse and ruins, yet few Kings are known by the people lest their end or begin times of strife. Perhaps He had worried about his influence on many Kingdoms and grew tired of calls for his assistance only when of the last option, when the blood had already been spill and the rich finally greeting hunger on their doorstep. Tired of the world, He simply released His Authorities to those who already held the umbrella of such ideas. A few made the voice He had been killed, for Treoir was once mortal or something of the like, and even upon ascension it was believed a God may be defeat, however heretical such a statement may be. Regardless, none, not even the Gods themselves truly knew what happened to their young companion.

However, a Legacy remained behind in his stead. Thirty Seven year prior a young boy had been born; a Son of Treoir. He was the newest child of the God and the first in at least a decade. His youth was filled with adventure and thievery and plunder to the local Lord had though him to be a Son of Liara. He journeyed from coastal town to town on his merry way with no signs of reformation until he happened upon a traveling band of Knights and sought to join their ranks. Now, Treoir was a Young God, but the power of one with Divinity flowing in their blood is never one to be underestimated, as even without effort they can possess a strength far reaching that of any mortal man, and with a good showing he had been accepted into their ranks. Lachlan, Son of Treoir, though he had not known it for many years, was a well known Knight in the territories his circle over saw. A good man, strong with sword and word alike and the soul of many a feast and party he traveled the lands. Eventually he would find himself settling down and marrying a young bell in the coastal town of Morgana. Between the two one child would be born, a son by the name of Tilian.

The boy was raised well and in the manner of his Father; days spent hunting, tilling the land, for they lived on a small farm, and foraging in the woods. Afternoons among the rivers and streams, fishing and learning the truth of nature and its wonders from his mother. He would later come to know she was indeed a Druidess. And, at last, nights were spent in the comfort of a fire and good food as his father retold tales of his adventures, companions, and the many myth and legend he had heard across the lands. These were a favorite time for the young Tilian who soaked up the stories of his father, no matter their legitimacy, like a field after drought. In days where the field needed no tilling, and the game was small and his mother busied herself with other duties his father took the young lad and instructed him in the ways of the sword and axe and bow. Of the other knightly duties he told and trained and too learned the basics of Apothecary and Cooking and Song. Ah, and what a wonder Song was for the young lad who did his damndest, as with everything, to emulate the prowess of his father. He would sing and write whenever the chance arose; whilst doing chores, or working the land, or walking the streams and fordes in the company of his mother.

Though all things considered, the young boy lacked that fundamental part of a person which drives a large portion of who we are; a dream. Unlike his father and more so like that of his Grandfather, he was content. There was no need nor desire for pillaging or adventure or battle as his father had burning inside him, and were not for his Mother and a blasted shoulder, may well have still rambled about the land. Working the field, walking the woods and rivers, humming the tunes of the woodland creatures and dueling his father in the old runes of the burned out barn were far more than enough for the young lad, even as his age increased. This would not last the day was far different from what it had once been in his father's day. The need for men of high renown and power and skill were in high demand. Those who carried divinity in their blood especially. A child of the Gods, even those not born of the War God or an Elder possessed strength that many times dwarfed that of the common man, and when trained even multiple Knights. Tilian was no Son of a God, but the divinity flowed in his blood nonetheless. He did not and could not boast the raw strength of fellow Demigods, but he had skill and knowledge abound and the fringes of Authority lingered in his mind and bones. Many a youngling were sent to the Academies or thrown in with the various Knights and their Squires.

Such would not do for young Tilian. His skill with blade was decent among peers and his power rarely matched among mortals, his hands careful and firm in the work of the land, of home, of medicine and cuisine and the tiniest inklings of mysticism planted by his mother in his youth set to bloom. A path a many was open to the young lad; A Knight who would no doubt be of fine renown, a Mage desperately needed in the armies of the Kingdom, a simple farmer who would no doubt grow to be a pillar of Morgana as he matured. But there was a fire in the young lad, and of all the lessons and skills and knowledge impart to him, that of Song and Story sat at the prespipist. Yet, his father had been a Knight and a defender of the Kingdom first and foremost and all else came second. Stories and Songs and Tales were gained in passing and experience, never sought, and whilst he had years worth, he far from a lifetimes. Thus, in the twelfth year of his life the Young Lad struck out upon the roads, traveling from town to town earning his bed and board in service of the Blade, of Mystics and Medicine, of small jobs and most importantly in the telling of tales and reciting of song. From town to town he wandered, listening to the scuttle of the drunken old men, the tired soldiers, the barkeep and innkeeper and all and any who had something to share; to add to his collection.

Rumors:
  • No one really knows how old he is [and neither does he], only stating "I've been traveling for more than a year, but no more than five" often with a shrug. Something about a strange forest
  • He's the only living descendant of Treoir
  • Most people mistake him for a Son of Eir or Zimde
  • Some claim he has the blood of two Gods in his veins
  • He's a wanted Criminal in at least six regions in the Kingdom

1. Thanks.
2. Little smaller than France.
3. I'd prefer we all start somewhat close by one another or we might get off to a slow start without people interacting. We have a decently large roster so maybe not everyone meets at once, but characters should be able to run into someone soon.

Edit: Have work, will finish addressing some things later.

In terms of a smoother start, I would probably be hoping for starting in a specific location. Especially since their are a few characters that seem to be spread out.

I'd wager if this supposed Child of the Moon is seemingly so important there's is definitely an area to gather. Considering the Moon Goddess seems beloved there's probably some sort of Holy Site dedicated to her which sounds like a good place to start.

Between whispers of the characters Godly parents urging them to seek the child and those who have heard of a large gathering of their fellow Demigods, aka their only family left, most of our characters would have reason to wind up in at least close proximity to each other. Maybe not all in the same inn or pub, but probably a few days from one another at most

That could make sense. Maybe somewhere inland, because it seems that Merlin is on the west coast, and Saoirse has her estate in the North. Unless we move the locations closer together into the Northwest?

Argo lives in the south, but sometimes comes further north with his mentor to pick up fresh marble from a quarry there. Hattie's hat shop I would say is in the capital, a lot of business and stuff y'know. And Polly lives in the palace which would be in the capital as well.

Interesting. I will add Marble to the north’s industry list.

Impressive length and language. I do need to make sure I'm clear on some things though that might tie into the lore. So is Treoir not one of the pantheon but instead a human that 'ascended' to divinity? And Tilian is a descendant rather than his child?

As for starting, probably a city where Luria was the most revered goddess but the population is dead. I'll try to work on that as well as the capital since it is likely to become important in the story.

I am going to keep this, but expand on it:

Azron's shapeshifting powers are limited, he can't change into animals or anything like that. Mainly he can disguise or camouflage himself. He hasn't really trained his skill, so he isn't as good at it as he could be. He is also a good audio mimic and a natural actor. His training though is that of a shepherd and a hunter. The valley where he was raised was remote but peaceful, but as the gods left, it became a dangerous wilderness. He has therefore moved towards civilization from the periphery.

He doesn't know his heritage, although the more contact he has with others, it will become more apparent. His identity crisis is a large part of his character arc. It is also why he seeks the moon child. As he first suspects he has devine heritage, he sees the moon child as a lead.

His normal strength is above average for a demi-god. His rage strength varies based on his rage, but it comes with drawbacks and is still limited.

I checked in with Canis Rex, and it looks like these are the population numbers for the 9 largest cities in the last kingdom.

Top 9 cities pop. Before plague and present.
1. 180,000 and 60,000
2. 94,208 and 31,403
3. 91,584 and 30,528
4. 75,890 and 25,297
5. 46,350 and 15,450
6. Reme 34,500 and 11,500
7. 29,100, and 9,700
8. 18,900 and 6,300
9. 18,684 and 6,228

Current total population: 195k-200k. Mostly clustered together, including 196,406 in the 9 biggest cities.

Edit: I have also drawn a map of Reme, Merlins home town.

https://i.imgur.com/i0QcOkY.jpg
The city of Reme is also known as the city of 5 hills. Each hill surrounds its large and ancient Cothon harbour. It’s western coast opens to the sea, a boardwalk sits on either side of the Cothons mouth, and a stone wall surrounds the city.
One of the five hills hosts the Monastery. A large structure which provides much of the honey and books for the city. The Monastery is on the hill that is north of the Harbour and east of the sea. South of the Harbour and east of the sea is the Temple Hill. Most of the major temples sits on this hill. However, one can find shrines dotting the city still. In the north east and south east one can find the major residential hills. The rich find themselves on the north hill and the middle class on the south hill. In the centre east hill one finds the Palace of Reme. Built to its current form nearly 20 years ago by the last city ruler using money made from Mercenary work, it attracted scholars from all around before the black snow came and trapped them in the city.
Off the hills, most of the land is mixed use, however there are a few notable areas. The Harbour is surrounded by trades wards in the north and south of its mouth, and a forum to its east. Here one finds the guild halls that used to build the ships and houses, and maintain the city. Most of the medical facilities are also located here. A lighthouse sits at the end of the northern most tip, and an inspection office sits at the southern most tip. One might find the poor in housing off the hills, especially near the Temple Hill and Monastery Hill. Outside the rich residential hill in the north east one finds the primary distribution ward where most of the granaries and storage centres hold products. Outside the Palace lays the cultural ward where one might find theatres, gymnasiums, colleges and acting schools, podiums, and a hippodrome. Outside the middle class hill in the south east one finds the Basilica where the three aqueducts converge. The water goes to the rich, the public fountains and baths, and everyone else.
There are four land gates into the city. A barracks sits near each. Watchmen and maintenance people patrol the city. Before the black snow these guards primarily watched for crime, now they also watch for sickness. Often being sick can mean execution and cremation. Unfortunately, having lost close to 2/3 of it’s population in the last 12 years, the city is struggling with maintaining the proper inspections to maintain safety. This is made worse by the amount of abandoned structures from the population decline.

So, Treoir could be seen in one of two ways; either as a Demigod [likely of Zimde or Cygic] or Human whose contributions to the world or acts were great enough to allow him to become a God, sorta like Herakles or Dionysus in Greek Mythology. Alternatively he could of simply been a quasi-immortal being or even a spirit that embodied the concepts of his authorities, sort of like how Palls came into being on the Roman war path, and eventually was granted Godhood once he either shed his mortal body [sort of like the Celtics] or gained enough of a following among the people to obtain true divinity. The first is easier to deal with without possibly needing to invest in creating a whole race of quasi-immortals, ala the Tuatha Dé Danann. Whichever interpretation works best with the established lore is fine by me.

Yeah, Tilian is a bit different. Technically Treoir would be his Grandfather, meaning as far as anyone is concerned he's technically not a Demigod. He loses out on some of their powers, obviously; if a normal Demi is 5x stronger than the average man at 14, than he'd only be about 3x, and his powers over his Divine Authorities are notably weaker and more taxing to use continuously or at a higher output, and rather than stay immortal in his prime he'd simply continue to age, albeit at a slower place. But, his life isn't solely tied to the divine. Monsters are less likely to target him, especially since Treoir could be considered a minor God. Fate also has a lesser hold on him, whereas most Demigods are compelled to pursue something relating to their Authorities, Children of the Freedom will always rebel, Reason Children will pursue knowledge, Eir's children will seek to heal, Tilian is not, as his Fate lies more or less in his hands. He a bridge between those who are Mortal and Demis who carry divine blood, and as what is essentially a traveler and ministerial, he'll make sure his fellow Divine Children are remembered.

As far as I've been able to gather most of the Gods aren't actually related by "blood" as far as the Pantheon goes. It's not like the Greeks where everyone is either a sibling or cousin when it comes to the major Gods. The Tuatha Dé Danann of Ireland were a Pantheon but not every major god was related, same can be said for certain Gods in Egyptian Mythology. Here Treoir could be related to the other Gods by "Blood" but even if he's not a Son of Cygic or Zimde there's nothing saying that the Gods have to share familial bonds to be part of the same Pantheon. He's also considerably younger than most Gods and considered a Minor God at best.

Actually I was confused because you used Reason and Freedom as if they are the names of gods.

You seem to know a lot about mythology!

I do like the idea of introducing a classification system to the gods. Both an old/young god but also a major/ minor god. I think there should also be a sort of equivalent to the titans. That is a class of gods that used to rule before the current gods. I suggest an earth goddess and a sun god, because those are basically mandatory but not made yet, plus a third one, because of the rule of three.

Oh, I only did that because I couldn't remember the names of those Gods and didn't want to bother constantly flipping between my post and the list

I'm very on the fence with Tilian. The app itself is certainly impressive but it also undoubtedly plays with the lore the most and breaks the request of them being children of the deities. You certainly seem knowledgeable though and have obviously put forth an effort into it. Since we'll all be rp'ing together, I'd like to hear what the others thoughts might be with something like this(here or TG is fine). We may can even work out an idea like accepting Tilian but closing apps to avoid further changes (since we also already have a good roster size). Not sure yet but will figure it out.
