"What if whomever killed Scavi, tried to make it look like someone tried to make it look like a serial killer? Like a double bluff... or it could be that someone knew we would look into the double bluff angle and it's actually a triple bluff," Sullivan posed, then waved a hand dismissively, "I'm getting myself tied up in knots. We need to follow the evidence. Has anyone looked into the serial killer angle? Gone down and checked up on the dead homeless folk? Also, might be worth checking out the tip Fanucci gave up that there are more bodies the local PD haven't realised were part of the pattern."

Elizah Rhosyn
Mustard and Murder Cont.

Elizah rolled her eyes at Sullivan's long-winded and frankly confusing hypothesis. She didn't know whether to be surprised about it or not.

"Well, in regards to the prior dead guys, I haven't seen anything myself, but it seems like the case files are pretty lackluster. If we want to pursue it further, there are probably some homeless communes we can visit. See if anyone knew the two prior victims, seen anyone or anything suspicious, or other noteworthy information. Could even get a partial identification if anyone saw something or if our unsub possibly had a failed attack."

Moving away from the bench with Sullivan, Elizah moved back to stand with Cross and whatever he was doing. She didn't really bother too much to pay attention. "Otherwise, I can go back and look at the files myself for anything interesting." She wouldn't be surprised if Cross and Sherwood had missed something.

Checking her messages briefly, she saw an update from her landlord about her apartment this morning and sent off a quick reply. When she looked up, she made a quiet note of Sullivan talking with Adelina. God, she didn't take him for the type to flirt with a crime family's daughter. Then again, she guessed he'd have to take what he could get when he could find it. She let out a quiet scoff and looked back at her phone.

Hot Dog Stand
Det. Marco Lanzetti

When Elizah Rhosyn had linked arms with he and Sherwood, and then wandered down to the hotdog stand, Lanzetti couldn't help but be annoyed at her. Who did she think she was? Dorothy, off to the see the wizard, the wonderful wizard of Oz? Did that make him the Scarecrow or Tin Man? Sheesh. At least she dropped arms by the time they got outside. Rumors would be flying all around the precinct if anyone had seen them.

Meeting outside at a hot dog stand in the cold, instead of in a meeting room inside the precinct, could only mean one thing. And Lanzetti appreciated Sullivan's reasoning. He was afraid of leaks. It was no secret that the NCPD wasn't the tightest ship when it came to information. Half the time, you never knew if the guy at the next table was secretly feeding info either to the mob or to the press. So, meeting at a hot dog stand meant you could share information more openly, and not have to watch your back when people noticed all of the detectives working together. Because, hey, they were only getting lunch (except that he already had some delicious kebabs). But the rule of any investigation was, loose tongues lose cases. And sad to say, the tongues of many in this NCPD precinct was about as loose as a hooker on Bourbon Street.

Speaking up when Sherwood mentioned the trip to Scavi's apartment, Lanzetti said, "You should have seen the place. Guy had two grocery bags on the floor of his kitchen, half put away. Three glasses on the table and a liquor bottle. Seems like he had a meeting with some guys who might have convinced him to do a job. Seeing Fanucci's pic there makes me want to know more what he knows. Because nothing about this seems straightforward."

Not ordering food, Lanzetti sipped the Pepsi he got as a courtesy to the stand owner. Then he continued, saying, "So, what are our next moves? Do you think someone should run down the hospital angle and see if hospitals would know anything about anyone looking for gall bladder transplants or something?"

Detective Ethan Cole

Ethan was had just finished tying his boots when he smelt it. The familiar acrid scent of smoke along with a more another familiar, but elusive, scent underhand. It was coming from the kitchen.

Ethan was on his feet before he realized it; throwing open the bedroom door and-

An unattended pot on the stove sent out a steady stream of lightly colored smoke. Not a fire by any means but its content's were definitely burnt. Alicia, his wife, was by the windows hurriedly throwing open their third floor apartment's windows. Ethan for his part flipped the switch for the fan and he finally realized what the source of the smoke was.

Burnt coffee

Alicia turned away from the windows with something between shyness and frustration on her face. Their marriage might have been new but Ethan knew Alicia was competitive; she had to succeed in everything. No matter if she had any background in it. Cooking of any sort was a particular failing of hers. Hence, why Ethan was familiar with smell in their apartment. Ethan knew each failure made her frustrated for a decent chunk of the hour.

But Ethan couldn't resist.

"We need the insurance money that bad?" Alicia eyes sharpened and her mouth opened in retort before whatever she was saying died on her lips. Instead, she gave a roll of her eyes and a muttered half-hearted "Ass". Ethan gave a chuckle and jolted when his eyes caught the time. He was late!!! He moved for the front door in a hurry. Pocketing his keys from the dish by the door and pulling on the nondescript gray utility jacket from the IKEA coat rack shoved in a corner.

He turned as his wife came up behind him and handed him something wrapped in paper. An egg-sandwich with a slightly toasted bun, and a semi-runny egg. Ethan took took the sandwich and gave his wife a farewell kiss on the cheek. Ignoring their newly established farewell ritual. Something he knew he would pay for later.

He was late. He could deal with Alicia later.

------------

He had scarfed down the semi-decent sandwich in the car and now had arrived at the precinct. It looked like his last one; too old, overcrowded and probably as underfunded as the last one. Ethan simply sighed as he checked his SIG was still secured on his hip holster. He made sure the spare magazines stuffed into the small of his back, secured to the belt of his dark cargo pants, hadn't disappeared since his last habitual check.

Satisfied, Ethan exited his car and strode into the precinct. Receiving directions from the desk sergeant as to the location of the Special Crimes Unit's squad room. He paused outside the SCU's door and took a fortifying breath before he opened it and strode in with what he hoped was confidence.
My travels take me many places, from the scorching sands to the cold, dark vacuum of space. But I always return to my friends and family at The Pub.

Michael peeled a single eye open as the alarm on his phone buzzed. He stared at the fan slowly spinning, its blades giving a passing nod to air circulation rather than actually doing it, before reaching to his nightstand and picking up his phone. Deactivating his alarm he saw he had a new notification.

"Shit." was Michael's first word of the day. There had been a murder, and he had been assigned to help investigate it. The notification had been from a Aurelio Estrella, Michael vaguely remembered the name. He clicked the call button as he pulled on a new pair of pants. The ringing of the phone accompanying him as he dressed for the day.

Once the call was answered he spoke.

"Detective Michael O'Nunan, I heard I was assigned to a murder investigation?"

After a bit of a wait, Michael ended up put through to Detective Sullivan, rather than Estrella, who apparently had had an accident...

Before he had a chance to express his opinion, or in Sullivan's case, probably shrug, his phone went off, "One moment," he said, before picking it up.

"What? Oh fuck, well that's inconvenient timing..."

He put his hand over the receiver, turning his attention to the rest of the group, "Hey guys, apparently Aurelio broke his ankle or something. I don't know exactly what he was doing. I'll find out later. I'll be coordinating things for a bit. Don't know why me," he shrugged, then stopped muffling the phone, "Ah, okay, put him through."

"Michael? Yeah it's detective Sullivan. We're just over the road from base in the park by the hotdog stand. You know the one. Come over here and join us. There's apparently someone else new who's arriving as well.
Someone called Cole. Can you pick him up on your way through? We're just getting ready to roll out again."

Sullivan popped the last of his hotdog into his mouth once the call was over, taking a few moments to savour it before swallowing, standing up, brushing any crumbs that had landed on his trousers onto the floor, "Okay, so it strikes me there are four things we need to do. Talk to the homeless folk. First though, whomever is doing that needs to go to the precinct that was investigating the matter and find out what they've got. Second, someone needs to look into the gallbladder transplant angle. Do people even get gallbladder transplants? I don't know enough about it, but someone can find out. Third, it would be worth speaking to Axel Fanucci again and finding out how he knows about there being more bodies. Oh and four, which goes hand and hand with three. Might be worth someone encouraging the Dons to keep it in their pants while we try to figure out what's going on because they're jumping to conclusions about who is responsible and a war in the street is bad to everyone: bad for their business and paperwork for us."

He clapped his hands together, looking amongst the assembled detectives, "So, volunteers for each task? Partner up where you can."

Detective Kole Cross, Ballistics Specialist

"The gallbladder angle sounds nifty, if a bit odd. Guess that makes me a volunteer."
Kole slipped the two vagrants' files back into their folders with a puff of dust.
"I've had enough of horrific paperwork. Doesn't look like they spent more than half an hour on this 'investigation'."
He stepped back from the curb as a car passed by, narrowly dodging a face full of cracked glass.

"As much as I'd like to avoid going back to the records room, I probably need somebody with a bit more medical expertise. Anyone wanna show me the ropes?"

Detective Michael O'Nunan

Michael was already on the sidewalk in front of his apartment building, his Chiappa Rhino sitting reassuringly on his hip, as Sullivan finished his instructions.

"Copy that detective, I'll be there shortly." Sullivan was referring to a hotdog stand that was a favorite roost of detective's and Uni's alike to grab a quick meal and discuss matters of business. Michael had been a regular there himself when he was a Uni. He walked down the street at his regular quick pace, arriving at the station. He opened the front door, which had been modified by a fresh coating of dirt and city grime, stepping in to the poorly air conditioned front office. He walked past citizens and officers of New Cottington, coming to a stop in front of a bored looking Sergeant, sitting behind a desk.

"Morning Sergeant, Detective Michael O' Nunan with the Serious Crimes Unit. I'm looking for an Ethan Cole?" The Sergeant raised an eyebrow at Michael's name.

"You're Jerry O' Nunan's boy?" Michael nodded.

"Knew your father. Good man, and an even better officer." Michael grunted in feigned affirmation. One too many beatings for Michael to ever see his father as good.

"So Sergeant, you know where Ethan Cole is?" Michael restated. The Sergeant leaned over the counter and pointed down the hall.

"Yeah he's down the hall in the SCU office." Michael nodded

"Preciate it." The Sergeant nodded as he sat back down. Michael turned and strode down the hall, finding a lone man in the SCU office. Poking his head into the room he spoke

"You Ethan Cole? The rest of the unit is waiting down by the park, let's get a move on." Michael said, pulling his head back out of the room.

Daniyah Qasim
_____________

Daniyah shrugged. "I don't think they transplant it, I'm pretty sure they just take it out during a liver transplant and your body deals with it being gone." She realized that was a weird thing to just know, so she quantified it. "Thought my dad was going to get a liver transplant before he died. Didn't work out that way, but that's another story." Why'd they have this meeting outside? Dani's people weren't exactly built for the cold winters you get in the northeast. She shivered to herself. "Second angle is already a bust, but if you'd rather take a doctor's word for it I'll be happy to kill some time someplace warm."

Detective Mason Sherwood

Sherwood considered the options that Sullivan gave. Even though there was a killer that targeted the homeless, there wouldn't be evidence from simply interviewing vagrants. The killer could have picked out victims who were alone and could easily stalk them. Most vagrants would most likely not even know the victims, along with being more concerned that there's a lunatic that stealing gallbladders. There was the fourth option, which was to ease the Dons, but Sherwood wanted to stay away from mafia business, since he was a honest cop. A honest cop who didn't see the mafia as people of justice.

For option two and three, they were right up his alley, but he was more focused on three. Sure, there was proof that the gallbladders were removed by a professional, but it would be hard to find a link with a surgeon, since there were tons of hospitals in New Cottington. Sherwood's propriety was going after Axel Fanucci. He has the photos to know that Scavi was involved, along with the same evidence giving a possible motive for why Scavi might ended up dead.

"I wish to confront Axel Fanucci. With the evidence found in the victim's apartment, we can establish him as a prime suspect. Since he has a mafia background, I'm going to need some extra muscle to avoid an issue." Sherwood said to Sullivan, wanting to go direct with option three.

Sullivan recommended that they head back to Cardo's club to pick up Fanucci, though before they were half way there, news came in over the radio of a group of men shooting up one of Don Palmiotto's restaurants and killing several of his men in the process, though none of the witnesses seemed to remember what the shooters looked like. Funny that, "Reckon that's Fanucci?" he asked Sherwood as they crossed one of the city's bridges, "Guess we'll find out if he had an alibi when we get to the bar."

When the pair pulled up outside the club there were now two security guards outside and no sign of Fanucci, who had previously been holding that particular post. Sullivan clambered out of the car, spreading his arms wide in a friendly gesture as he approached the pair, "Guys! You miss me?"

The pair exchanged a look, then nodded, "Need to speak to Mr Cardo?" one asked in a barely intelligible grunt.

"No, actually we're looking for Axel. You guys seen him recently?"

The pair exchanged another look, then shook their heads, "No, haven't seen him all day," the one who seemed to be the spokesman replied.

"And yet, I spoke to him right here only a couple of hours ago," Sullivan retorted, "I'm guessing he's out with a bunch of guys who all have really good alibis and they'll be coming back here. Don't worry, we can wait!" he declared, giving Sherwood a knowing smirk.

Meanwhile, across town...

Meanwhile, the other group had managed to find their way to the offices of a rather harried looking medical examiner. The office smelt of bleach with a slight undertone of formaldehyde, and backed right onto the morgue. He gave Daniyah and Kole an long-suffering glance from over thin-rimmed spectacles as they came in before saying, "So you're here about the gallbladder removers?" he asked, before adding, "I don't suppose you're here to give me names for some of the bodies so we can try to contact the next of kin? The city's hobos aren't very good with stuff like real names and my freezers are getting full of them!"

Hot Dog Stand
Det. Marco Lanzetti

As the marching orders were given out, Lanzetti thought they seemed reasonable enough. Someone had to check on other homeless people who might know the organ donating bums. Someone else needed to follow up on the hospitals. Then there was the mob. Fanucci was definitely a person of interest. And someone else needed to let the other mob bosses know to keep it cool for now. Detectives paired up and went off. Sherwood was with Daniyah. So that meant Lanzetti would be working with someone else for this leg of it.

No one else was volunteering to talk to the mafia dons, especially Don Palmiotto. So with a shrug, Lanzetti volunteered along with one of the remaining detectives. They soon got in an unmarked station car and drove down to the club that Don Palmiotto normally spent time at. With any luck, they'd find him there.

Ethan Cole

Ethan didn't wait long in the SCU before a bearded, red head stuck their head into the room.

Bolslania wrote:"You Ethan Cole? The rest of the unit is waiting down by the park, let's get a move on." Michael said, pulling his head back out of the room.

The head withdrew as quickly as it appeared and left Ethan alone again. The detective stood still for only a brief second before following after the redhead. All the while wondering the entire SCU team was meeting in a park instead of the police precinct. Ethan exited the precinct and made his way to the previously mentioned park; where he could make out a gathering of figures around a hot dog cart. Ethan had just reached the cart in time for the meeting to apparently end and the SCU teams broke up into assignments. Ethan wasn't sure who was the boss; who even where he was supposed to go. So he had remained standing off to the side until one of the detectives had snagged him for their assignment.

Ethan didn't find out the detectives name, Marco Lanzetti, until the pair were on their way to talk to a mafia don. Ethan was silent for most of the ride save for an initial introduction. He opened his mouth however when they pulled up in front of the don's club.

"Sure we don't need back-up?"

Detective Mason Sherwood

"Sounds fair enough." Sherwood said, making sure his fedora was on. Sullivan was the one who was quick to suggest that Scavi's death was a mob hit, but Sherwood was starting to think of a similar angle, since there was discrepancies with the serial killer angle. Sullivan was the one to drive the car over to the club, where the radio blared about a shooting at a restaurant. "Reckon that's Fanucci?" Sullivan asked Sherwood, as he looked over his notes at the passenger seat. "If it's Fanucci, then we're in some trouble. A bunch of bystanders are bound to get caught in the crossfire, unless we resolve Scavi's death." Sherwood said, as the car went over the bridge.

"Guess we'll find out if he had an alibi when we get to the bar." Sullivan said, as the car ride continued to the club. At the club, Sullivan seemed to be aware that Axel was nowhere at sight. This didn't seem good..

"And yet, I spoke to him right here only a couple of hours ago," Sullivan retorted, "I'm guessing he's out with a bunch of guys who all have really good alibis and they'll be coming back here. Don't worry, we can wait!" he declared, giving Sherwood a knowing smirk.

"If you two gentlemen could cooperate with the police, we can be thankful." Sherwood said, showing his badge. "We're looking for Axel Fanucci. He's currently a heavy person of interest regarding the case with Scavi. If you could be kind and to tell us any information you have on Fanucci.." Sherwood said, trying to convince the pair of security guards.

Michael arrived with Ethan as Sherwood asked for some backup to go chase down a Fanucci character. Being a man of some stature, Michael volunteered himself.

"I guess I'll tag along as well." Michael said, headed of with Sullivan and Sherwood.

Main Nation Ministry wrote:
"I'll come with you, Sherwood, though I'm not sure I really count as muscle," Sullivan declared, "Qasim and Cross, you go and check out this gallbladder angle. Give me a call if you find something interesting and I'll do the same from our end."

Michael had remained silent for this interaction, Sullivan and Sherwood seemed to have more experience in dealing with the mafia anyway, it was best if he stuck to the side unless there was a problem. For the time being he contented himself with staring right at the guard who appeared to be the, for lack of a better word, brains of the pair.

Scavi, mafia involved persons found dead. He'd heard speculation about serial killers, something about a gall bladder, and a possible mafia hit. Who would be ballsy enough to go after Scavi? Maybe someone who thought they could win a mafia fight. Assuming it was a mafia-related killing of course.

Daniyah Qasim
______________

Daniyah wasn't very impressed by the medical examiner's attitude towards the deceased. "No, we aren't." she replied. "Yes to the gallbladders though. There has been information..." she started, but she clearly wasn't confident in the quality, "That there have been more murders under the same or similar M.O. that haven't been linked yet."

She really felt this was a waste of time, though she didn't show it. She kept her air of professionalism, knowing she was always under extra scrutiny. "You say that you're filling up with homeless, have you autopsied them all already? I recognize a missing gallbladder would be an easy spot, but it was called in so here we are." Hopefully her method would cause the request to come off not as doubting the medical examiner, despite any feelings she might have.

"Also if you would confirm that gallbladder transplants aren't normally a thing, help me win a bet I've got going on the side."

"How did these people die anyway?" Kole said, addressing the medical examiner. "I assume the gallbladder wasn't removed when they were alive."

Kole scratched his head and followed up with another question.

"Have any more people turned up with missing gallbladders besides the two documented ones? Is it possible that this is the case for any of the other folks you have in your icebox over there? If this is a serial killer we have to get them taken care of pretty quick."

"Nah, nobody gets a transplant... I don't think so anyway," the Medical examiner shrugged, "Maybe someone super rich? I don't keep up with all the crack pot stuff they do in Californian clinics. Anyway, it's not like not having one is that big of a deal. And no, they didn't extract the gallbladder while the victims were alive. Victims all had their throats cut first. Couldn't tell you if the gallbladder business is a trophy and the killing is the main reason for the act or if they want the gallbladder for some reason and killing the victim is the easiest way to get it."

He shrugged again as if to say 'that's your job, you're the police', "Anyway, it's all in my notes, like I told the other officers, and I can get one of my assistants to show you the body... wait what did you say before?"

It seemed like it took a while for the questions posed to catch up with the man's brain, "Two documented attacks? I've got seven bodies, not two," he sighed in exasperation, "It's the problem with the precincts, nobody wants to touch something like this if it's on someone else's turf and the bodies don't drop in the same place twice. Every Tuesday, I get another, regular as clockwork. Apart from this latest one actually... you know, the mobster that everyone is so excited about," he gave a sigh, pushing his spectacles up the bridge of his nose, "Which I hope does not mean our killer is stepping up his workload."

The pair did not look inclined to be cooperative. They exchanged a glance. One shrugged. "Haven't seen him today," the other stated, repeating what his companion had claimed a few moments before. Evidently these two were not the brightest and the fact that Sullivan had already seen Fanucci in the club earlier in the day didn't seem to compute with them.

Though before the detectives had a chance to press the pair, a black Ford explorer pulled into the carpark of the club. The two guards stiffed at the appearance of the vehicle, though they promptly relaxed once they had had a chance to check out the number plate. The vehicle pulled up alongside the group and the driver's side window descended. It was Fanucci in the flesh, "Detective.... detectives?" he glanced amongst the group, "You're back already. Here to tell us who killed poor Frank?" he suggested.

"Not exactly," Sullivan glanced over at the others in the group, waiting for someone else to take the lead, much preferring to play 'good cop' amongst the mafia families.

Michael O' Nunan
Cardo's Club

Michael turned and watched as the black SUV rolled up, rolling down its window to reveal one Fanucci, in the flesh. Fanucci asked if they were here to tell him about the death of some Frank guy. Sullivan said "not exactly" and obviously was deferring to someone else to step up to the plate. Michael sighed. He was new, and therefore had the best chances of being unknown to Fanucci. He spoke up.

"Mr. Fanucci, we're here to ask you some questions about a murder late last night." He said, giving the by-the-books polite suggestion that they should go somewhere more private to speak. Hopefully Fanucci had a good temperament and be willing to cooperate with the detectives and this could all be a very simple process.

Hopefully.

Detective Mason Sherwood

The guards didn't seem keen to give the detectives Fanucci's location. However, Fanucci coincidentally pulled up in his SUV, as he seemed unaware of why Sullivan and his crew were back. Michael was going by-the-book with his suggestion, though Sherwood wanted to try to not raise suspicion with Fanucci. The detectives were already standing in front of Fanucci and two of his men. If a slip-up happens, they might start pulling guns.

"If I may ask you some questions, we're still looking into the murder of Frank Scavi. However, we believe you might have some information regarding him that has been overlooked." Sherwood said, getting his notebook out, as he was ready to jolt some notes with the detective's interrogation with Fanucci.

"Even though both you and Scavi were in the same mob, what was your personal relations with him? Most importantly, where were you last night before we found Scavi this morning?" Sherwood asked, being careful to present the photos of Fanucci, unless necessary.

Elizah Rhosyn
Vagrant Investigation

Hearing everyone's plans to split off and search for clues, Elizah decided to follow through with the vagrant cases, though she did make note of the medical team. Like Sullivan suggested, she made plans to talk with the reporting officers for each incident before visiting some local encampments.

She made a few calls into the department to get the needed officers at the precinct before she got there, and made a quick stop at a convenience store to pick up a fresh pack of gum. Popping a few pieces into her mouth, she drove over to the precinct and went inside, grabbing a notebook and pen off of someone's desk to write down some questions.

Thinking for a moment, she popped the cap off the pen and started scribbling down some notes. Where were the victims found? She could use the dumping location and find nearby communes to go interrogate and poke around for anything interesting. Any noticeable injuries or lacerations? Victim gender, describing features like hair and eye color, distinct features such as tattoos, scars, and other skin blemishes. Did the victims have any identification or valuables. Anything noticeable on the scenes, weapons, blood splatters, notes, etc. Maybe anyone seen around the crime scene, possibly anyone with a gang background. Medical and coroner reports numbers to look into.

Thinking for a moment, she decided to just wing the rest of it and see what the officers would bring up. Looking around, she set out to find the reporting officers she needed to talk to and would drag them to any empty meeting room.

Someone screwed up. Seven victims, not two. Comes in every Tuesday, like clockwork. Scavi is an outlier, fits the method not the time. Will bring back the info on the rest, in sha'Allah.

"We need to see the files on the other five, hopefully there's something in there that makes things clearer." She said. Nothing is ever easy. the woman thought. One or two bodies not being noticed might be believable if somewhat uninspiring. Five not being linked? That was a lot harder for Daniyah to buy. It definitely lent more credence to a serial killer, but now there was the issue of how the mob knew of it and not the department.

En route to Don Palmiotto's
Det. Marco Lanzetti

One of the new guys had joined him. Lanzetti wasn't going to be going at it alone. The middle-aged, cynical detective eyed his new temporary partner. Military cut, younger, athletic, and definitely quiet. Far from being the life of the party, this one might have been the one who had never been told where the proverbial party was at. Marco grabbed his jar of peanuts and unscrewed the lid, grabbing a handful and munching on them while they almost got around to chatting. "Brilliant conversationalist, this one," thought Marco. He got a name from his erstwhile new partner. Ethan Cole. "Pleased to meetcha. Marco Lanzetti. You don't talk much, do you."

As they pulled up to Palmiotto's club, all of a sudden, there was a hope of conversation.

The United Federation of Terrans wrote:Ethan Cole

Lanzetti was pleasantly surprised to hear the man. Good thought, too. "Great idea. Let's at least let the lieutenant back at the precinct know where we're at." Getting his cell out, Lanzetti shot off a quick text. He wasn't expecting anything here. It was too early, and mafia bosses generally didn't commit violence against police officers the first time they approached him on a case. Later on, backup might not be bad. But now was as good a time as any to go in and tell Palmiotto to cool it. And maybe that would be a good conversation to have with Ethan.

"Ok. Lieutenant knows we're here. I'm not expecting any kind of conflict right now. But one thing we should do before we go in is have some kind of play. That we know what we're planning on saying and not saying. For example, it would be a really bad idea to just tell him, Hey, we think you guys should do or not do something. Like Don Palmiotto is going to bend his will to what we say. We gotta give him a reason why now is not a good time for a fight in the criminal underworld, and I've got an idea what a good reason might be. It all comes down to the oldest and most reliable reason in the world: money. That is, we should go and tell Palmiotto that if there is a violent retaliation against the Cardos for what happened to Frank Scavi, it will definitely hurt his pocket. He won't be moving his merchandise. Oh, and how's this? Maybe we put a bug in his ear that we'd hate for him to go out swinging at his rival, when maybe what happened was someone lower down the ladder saw Scavi's importance in the business, and wanted to take his place. Sound good? I can do the talking if you'd prefer. I've brushed up with Don Palmiotto before."

Former case. It wasn't a personal visit, but Lanzetti once had busted one of Palmiotto's underlings at the time, and the two of them had managed to speak. Briefly.

"Mr Palmiotto is a businessman from the other side of town," Fanucci shrugged expansively from where he was seated at the wheel of his car, "Now I know some people believe he might have had something to do with what happened to Frank," he paused for a heartbeat before turning the conversation around, "Does he?" he asked Mason.

"I mean that's really your domain isn't it? Figuring out who killed someone? I'm just a private citizen."

The comment got an amused chuckle from Sullivan. Fanucci was definitely not just a 'private citizen', though how far he was involved in this was anyone's guess.

"Yeah sure, but you could save some time by asking that other Detective," the Medical Examiner replied, "Ah... I can't remember his name off the top of my head. Had a ponytail though." the description didn't fit that of any of the other SCU detectives... Axel Fanucci had a ponytail, which was a pretty big coincidence.

"Anyway," he shook his head, returning to the question of the files, "You can see the files if you want. Just pick them up at reception," he waved a hand back in the direction Dani had come though after a pause of about ten seconds he added, "Oh... I think the other guy also said something when he looked at the file about some warehouse district he'd needed to search. I'm guessing that was something he gleaned from the files," he shrugged again, "That's about all I remember, hope it helps you track him down. Always best if we don't end up doing work twice!"

Palmiotto's group were, it seemed, nothing like Cardo's. For a start, Palmiotto's establishment was much more up market - ritzy night-club as opposed to jaded strip-club. His men were different as well; more Armani suits and less leather jackets. The weapons they carried, carefully tucked away behind waistbands, however, were similar. While Palmiotto hid behind a veneer of sophistication, he was cut from much the same cloth as his rival from across the river.

The police who appeared were greeted by a typically large, intimidating guard, "Club's closed till this evening," he said, "You here to see someone in particular?"

The tone was gruff, if not hostile. Yet.

Psychotic Dictatorship

Dyelli Beybi wrote:"Mr Palmiotto is a businessman from the other side of town," Fanucci shrugged expansively from where he was seated at the wheel of his car, "Now I know some people believe he might have had something to do with what happened to Frank," he paused for a heartbeat before turning the conversation around, "Does he?" he asked Mason.

"I mean that's really your domain isn't it? Figuring out who killed someone? I'm just a private citizen."

The comment got an amused chuckle from Sullivan. Fanucci was definitely not just a 'private citizen', though how far he was involved in this was anyone's guess.

Detective Mason Sherwood

Mason knew that Fanucci was acting all smug, even though the group had evidence that Fanucci was meeting with Palmiotto. It was odd and somewhat ironic that Fanucci considered himself and Palmiotto as businessmen, despite the fact that they fit the profile of mobsters. The comment of "private citizen" was enough reason for Mason to turn some tables against Fanucci. However, things might get hostile, since some of Fanucci's fellow men were near the team.

"You may have been a private citizen, Fanucci. However, Scavi might have saw the opposite of that. We found photos of you and Palmiotto in Scavi's apartment. You were meeting with Palmiotto for some sort of deal. I'm guessing you didn't realize that Scavi had someone tailing you. Or maybe Scavi himself was the one tracking your movements. If both you and Palmiotto are just businessmen, could you explain the two were meeting?" Mason said, as he knew things were probably going to get ugly, unless Sullivan had a chance to back him up.

Quote of the Week: "A NEW STORY ON WRITING THREAD FOR HALLOWEEN!! MYSTERY MINE AVAILABLE NOW!"

RPs I do
- How do you do fellow kids? You want to see something violent? - Artemis: Deimos Trafficking League (Horror/Mature)
- Descend into the forgotten tourist traps of Florida on this transgressive RP! - The Community (Mature/Black Comedy/Slice-of-Life)

My overall account that I use for P2TM and even for international roleplaying! MNM is a mysterious and extremely dangerous dictatorship filled with supernatural oddities, demons, militarized soldiers everywhere, and a misanthropic nihilistic dictator who doesn't give a damn. It's basically if the SCP Foundation got mixed with 1984.
