I'm not interested in such action at the moment. But I am not afraid of aiding my dear allies (especially Iran, Syria, Venezuela and North Korea).

US would have pressured Abe to not follow up with nuclear program. I am fairly certain of that.

But aside from that, if Japan tries to cause trouble or invade a country in a war of aggression, expect Japan to get a WWII style good beating. US is still the Master. :) 8)

Actually in the past America has encouraged Japan to boost its military and develop nuclear weapons.

Japan owns 1.3 trillion in US foreign debt and holds significant sway in its economy. American recklessness will significantly harm its economy.

If America reneges on its commitments, Japan will respond very aggressively. Japan will assume any ballistic missile threats to be nuclear and will respond accordingly.

Japan has its priorities. Remilitarization, securing Takeshima Island, drilling the Senkaku Islands, and securing the Chishima Islands. So in a sense, it is all defensive military applications and are suitable, since the IRL US does recognize the Takeshima, Senkaku, and Chishima Islands to be Japanese. It is obligated in its defense pact to defend the Senkaku Islands.

It is best not to threaten the United States, especially if you want US assistance. :)

Also, there is difference between an incident in those islands and a full-scale major war with China or South Korea. The first can be allowed to pass, the second no.

No. That would be up to the US telling Japan, China and South Korea to not start a war over some island and try to solve issues diplomatically. And if someone starts a war, then sanctions first followed perhaps by military intervention. No East Asian War. And Japan should not antagonize needlessly America, lest the US starts backing actively China and South Korea over Japan.

I'm currently debating whether I should have a more Gaullist France or a France that is closer and is more trustful of the US ans the rest of NATO. What do you all think would be more realistic/interesting/work better?

That would probably not be wise for America, which would stand to lose billions of dollars it spent on infrastructure and economically if it does choose between being neutral or supporting Japan.

America would have almost zero short term basing alternatives if it sought to intervene militarily against Japan, since its most major bases in Asia are in Japan. The Japanese Navy is strong, and if America antagonizes Japan, Japan has the power to defend itself - then move offensively.

Just keep to trade and domestic issues, then relations will prosper.

Domestic Issues: No one party can form government alone, which requires compromising with other parties and giving them what they want to ensure their loyalty. This has led to the KMT adopting many positions considered too liberal by their more right wing members, and the SHD adopting some positions considered too social democratic by their more hard-left members. As such, some extremists are preparing to leave their parties and establish two new parties to challenge the incumbents.

Foreign Issues: The Red Menace to the West and North: Sino-Russian relations have never recovered after the invasion of Xinjiang and Heilongjiang. China seeks to free its people from the grasp of the Red Russian threat.
Meanwhile across the Pacific, China seeks to improve its relations with the US and to ensure Japan's continued containment.

History:
In 1969, a border conflict between the USSR and the PRC eventually turns into an all-out war, which resulted in Soviet victory. Following this, the USSR annexes both Xinjiang (as Uyghur ASSR) and Heilongjiang (as Harbin Oblast). The aftermath also weakened China, who was already both experiencing the Cultural Revolution and recovering from the Great Leap Forward. On the other hand, the USSR (and later Russia) would be locked in a conflict with Uyghur separatists in Xinjiang.

After the century of humiliation that China had only exited 20 years earlier, it was obvious to all that this could not go on forever. And so the experiment of Communism in China came to an end after the Tiananmen Square massacre of 1989 and the election of Nu Leiying as Paramount Leader, who began a thorough purge of the CPC. Once the purge ended in 1990, Nu officially dissolved the CPC and formed a new democratic socialist party called the "Shehuidang" (SHD). He began liberating China from communist influence and implementing democratic reforms, as well as building better relations with Taiwan (ROC), mostly in order to make Chinese reunification a reality. Meanwhile, China supported the US-led coalition during the Persian Gulf War. After three years of negotiation, China and Taiwan were reunified as the Republic of China in 1993 on the 127th anniversary of the birth of Sun Yat-sen.

Not long after this however, elements of the ex-People's Liberation Army that were discharged from the newly-reformed National Revolutionary Armed Forces for their extremist views began forming radical cells of Han Supremacists and Red Guards, conducting an underground war against the new government and each other. Sometimes this underground war spilled out into the streets, such as the Kunming massacre of 1996, where 90 ethnic Zhuang were rounded up by Han Supremacists and butchered, before being strung up in a grisly display in Chunrong Park. Most stark and notable however, was the 1997 attempted coup by the Red Guards group, who stormed the Zhongnanhai, adjacent to the Forbidden City in Beijing. After seeing reports of this, Han Supremacists across China rose up in an attempt to seize control of the countryside and regional cities before the Red Guards could solidify their control in Beijing and claim some form of legitimacy. As the Red Guards cleared their way through the shocked NRA troops, their numbers continued to thin, and NRA reinforcements continued to pour into Beijing from nearby, but it was still too late for President Nu Leiying. As the first President of the reunified Republic of China, he was also the greatest traitor in the history of China in the eyes of the Red Guards, so when they burst into Leiying's office, they caught one glimpse at the President before he took his own life with his pistol. Denied the satisfaction of taking his life, the Red Guards that survived the assault began moving to their secondary objective; the Great Hall of the People, which housed the Chinese Parliament.

Meanwhile in the Great Hall of the People, reports were coming in from across China and the Zhongnanhai that the Red Guards had assassinated the President and that the Han supremacists had risen up to attempt to seize power outside of Beijing. Civil War was on the horizon if the parliament did not step up and take charge. And so they did, declaring martial law and ordering the NRA to mobilise and put down the revolts across China. The NRA quickly swept up the Red Guards remaining in Beijing, wiping them out before they could enter the doors of the Great Hall. Outside of Beijing however, things were less simple and the NRA struggled to take back some Han supremacist strongholds like Kunming. In many of these areas, the intelligence gathered by ethnic minorities who the Han supremacists had persecuted was incredibly valuable and led to the Han supremacists being whittled down to a small area between Wuhan and Xianning where they made their bloody final stand on October the 12th 1997. This marked the high water mark point for these two groups, which then shrunk exponentially by the year until 2000, when the KMT and SHD entered into their first ever coalition government, in a government of national unity. In their first act in government, the KMT and SHD called for a constitutional convention to be held in July of that year, where a new constitution would be created. This constitution would completely restructure the Chinese government, drawing on many features of the 1947 Republic of China Constitution, including the Tricameral Parliament; the Legislative Yuan, The National Assembly and the Control Yuan. The Presidency would become ceremonial, the provincial system would be abolished and replaced with a system of constituent republics with their own legislatures, ethnic minorities would be given recognition by the constitution, the flag of the original 1912 Republic of China (the 5 Races Under One Union Flag) would be readopted and China would henceforce be known as the United Republics of China.

Following these reforms, several new minor parties formed, such as the Liberal People First Party and the Social Democratic Non-Partisan Solidarity Union. In every election following the adoption of the new constitution on January 1st 2001, the People First Party has formed government with the KMT and the Non-Partisan Solidarity Union with the SHD. Over time, this has led to the major parties themselves moving more towards more centrist positions, both to appease their coalition partners and due to the influence of more centrist factions of the parties.

With the dawn of a new millennium and a new China, the National Revolutionary Armed Forces underwent a complete rebuilding and restructuring from 2003 to 2010, introducing the National Revolutionary Strategic Command, which was established to control non-frontline elements of the National Revolutionary Armed Forces. Alongside this, the National Revolutionary Armed Forces saw a dramatic surge in its funding from 2003 to 2020, with mass-modernisation efforts being undertaken in this time; playing catch up from the late 80's and 90's. The National Revolutionary Army's reserve forces were also greatly expanded, with an emphasis on rapid mobilisation and logistical support. In 2015, the National Revolutionary Air Force's development of a new Air Superiority Fighter finally bought fruit, with the new FC-31 prototypes. The Air Force gave an initial order of 400, later in 2021 adding an order for 100 more. The first FC-31s began entering service in 2022, with 100 in service at the beginning of 2024.

Other Military Information: The National Revolutionary Strategic Command includes China's cyber-warfare capabilities, ICBMs, Mobile Missile Launchers, SAMs, Anti-ship Missiles, Space capabilities, electronic warfare, psychological warfare and chemical warfare capabilities.

Well. All the colors for each country are the colors of their flags (I took one color from each one's flags).
Germany - Black
France - USAFA Blue
Ukraine - Sapphire
USA - American Blue
Jamaica - North Texas Green
Russia - Boston University
Spain - American Yellow
Turkey - Cadmium Red
Japan - White
Kalinia - Dark Powder Blue
China - Duke Blue
All the colors from each flag I took from SchemeColor (https://www.schemecolor.com/). Also, if you and others want to make the map with the colors the players chose, I can do that too. If anyone wants a special color, tell the name, hex, or the RGB.

History:

12th century CE: Islam was introduced.

1558-1573 CE: Portuguese occupation, which ends after expulsion by locals.

17th century CE: Islands become a protectorate first of the Dutch rulers of Ceylon (Sri Lanka) and later of the British who take control of Ceylon in 1796.

1887 CE: Status formalized as an internally self-governing British protectorate.

1932 CE: First democratic constitution proclaimed. The sultanate becomes an elected position.

1953 CE: Becomes a republic within the Commonwealth as the sultanate is abolished. However, the Sultan is restored within months.

1965 CE: Full independence as a sultanate outside Commonwealth.

1968 CE: The referendum was unsuccessful and prevented as King (Sultan) Muhammad Fareed Didi ordered the execution of Prime Minister Ibrahim Nasir after accusing him of converting to Christianity, which he did. He also executed several government officials as they did something similar. Following his execution, the Council of Maldives was established the same year, removing the People's Majlis. Thus, the Maldives remains a sultanate for years to come, functioning as an absolute monarchy once again. They'll never rejoin the Commonwealth in the future.

1970 CE: The Royal Defense Force of Maldives was established.

1972-1981 CE: King Muhammad passed away and was succeeded by his brother, Prince Ibrahim Fareed Didi. He reigned over the Maldives until his abdication in 1981.

1980s CE: Development of tourist industry fuels economic growth.

1981-2000 CE: King Ibrahim abdicated in favor of his grandson, Haidar Fareed Didi. During his reign, he converted to Shia Islam, angering the citizens for his decision, but no protest has taken place. He reigned over the Maldives until he was killed in a royal massacre in 2000.

1990 CE: Former King Ibrahim passed away.

2000-2024 CE: In 2000, King Haidar and half of his family were killed in a royal massacre by an unidentified aristocrat who vowed to rid the traitor of Sunni Islam. However, the said aristocrat was later arrested by police rather than killing him on the spot, and he was sentenced to death by lapidation. Since then, King Haidar's three cousins, two girls and a boy survived the royal massacre as they lived in different countries. Prince Ali Anwar Saab is that boy, and he went on to become the next King of the Maldives. Also, he was 17 years old, making him the youngest ever to take that title. However, he was under the control of a regent for a year. This leaves the current situation of the Maldives today.
