I would like to begin today, with an acknowledgement to all the lives lost around the world over these terroristic tragedies. From Sweden, to Nusantaran, to America's own shores. My heart goes out to all the victims and their families. And it is precisely for these people, that I am so adamant about stomping out these acts of terror in all forms.

Next, I would like to congratulate the Prime Minister of England, for coming to his senses on the issue of Operation Domestic Peace. I do not expect every nation to be as concerned about terrorism as others. So the United Kingdom abstaining from this vote, in this regard is something I can respect. Although as I hope the Prime Minister can understand, I must reject his offer to meet at this time. Right wing extremists have once again begun attempting to circumvent the will of the people with their violence. I will not let this stand, not now, now ever. This is also why I sadly cannot retract my call for the United Kingdom's expulsion from NATO. As the continued racist and imperialist practices of the nation, are a blemish on an alliance born out of a defense of freedom and liberty for all peoples. Not just the white men in power. Should the United Kingdom release their colonial nations, upon such time the United States will expediently roll back this call for expulsion. But not one moment sooner.

Now onto the concerns raised by the President of Cuba. I understand your concerns. From the outside looking in, these may appear to be nothing but partisan politics being met with undue force. But please look closer that the surface or the news reports. We have men waving racist and hateful symbols. Nazi flags, confederate flags, and worse, in the faces of innocent people through the nation. These people are heavily armed, gun toting lunatics. And they increasingly use force to demand their will be met. They wish to subvert the will of the people who elected my predecessor and myself into office. And I will not let that stand. And anyone who supports democracy, should not let this stand.

As for the hateful rhetoric being used by the President of Nusantaran. I and the American people resent your blatant mischaracterization of events. Violence, is not a political stance and has no place in political diversity. And to call someone fighting insurrectionists a 'radical' is nothing short of inflammatory. Although I weep for her people. As her foolish refusal of the ODP Task Force, surely makes her people more vulnerable to attacks. I pray the people of Nusantaran support the Democratic party further in their next elections, so that we as nations might grow closer and fight these terrorists together.

To comment on the Mongolian question before the United Nations, America intends to vote NO on this resolution. America will always champion autonomy for all nations that desire it. To keep on the United Nations, I would like to thank all that voted YAY for my resolution. I deeply implore those of you that abstained or voted NO to rethink your position. Together we can stamp out terrorism before it ever takes another life. But we need your support. Please do not make the mistake of having to look back one day when a bomb goes off in your nation, regretting voting NO on this.

As a final note to the states that have so boldly threatened me with secession from the union. I must remind you that you are not in good company. The last time states seceded, it was over racist demagoguery. And it seems like history aims to repeat itself. The previous attempts at secession were on the wrong side of history, and that is undoubtedly the case once again. And this threat, shall not be taken lightly in the slightest. I am hereby declaring a state of emergency for the states of Texas and Florida. For the safety of this Union, I am suspending the following rights within those states as we assure the safety of the people from potential violence and rebellion. The right to free movement, suspended. The right to due process, suspended. The right to habeas corpus, suspended. The right to free speech, suspended. The right to assmebly, suspended. The right to bear arms, suspended. Martial Law is hereby declared, in Texas, and Florida.

This, has gone on long enough. I am announcing today that I fully support the secessionist movement proposed by the State Legislature of my home state of Texas, as well as the measures in the state of Florida. Under Horowitz and Dolonescu, and the corrupted establishment Democratic party, we have quickly shifted into a nation that is no longer the United States of America. The Army is deployed
June 20th, 2021

United States armed forces from every major branch are deployed in both Texas and Florida to enforce this new state of Martial Law on the states. National Guard forces made every attempt at blocking their entry, but on order of President Dolonescu, the military was given authorization to use lethal force on all that attempt to stop their activities. The borders of both Texas and Florida saw constant gun fire for three days before the lines broke and the National Guard units for each state folded under the pressure of the superior force advancing on them. Tank rolled down main streets in Austin, Dallas, Fort Worth, Tallahasse, Miami, and Orlando. Total military command was established by the 27th of June. The legislatures of both states arrested and charged with treason by the 28th.

Major General Hidekatsu Tojo, cousin of Air Force General Hidetoshi Tojo and great-grandson of the famed Prime Minister Hideki Tojo, stood. He was head of the entire Kenpeitai, commanding with a iron fist, just as his great-grandfather had as a Colonel in charge of the Kenpeitai in the Kwangtung Army. "We have successfully been able to use facial recognition systems in collaboration with the Tokko to determine the identities of the protesters."

Marshal Admiral Yamaguchi chuckled. "Those cowards. They have been exposed to too many Western influences. It disgusts me. But those fools, burning their exemption cards and physical fitness designations? Stupid. I suppose the Tokko will take care of them appropriately. They need to ensure all dissident is silenced."

"Actually, they can be useful. Without their cards, we don't know what section they are part of. Based on their... ideologies, they would have been free from the draft already. Round them up and ship them to Tsingtao. The ships going there can fit in a few men. They can be part of the Blood and Iron Corps." replied General Yuasa. "They will have two choices, charge with their bamboo spears and die with honor on the battlefield, or they will be shot in the face. It is disgusting that Chinese troops are more brave than them. Some of the youth these days have it too easy, and they have become weak. Clearly stupid too."

Yamazaki nodded. "That is not the concern on the agenda however. We have enough troops so far enlisted we will not have to hold a draft yet. The primary concern is the Empire of Manchuria leaving the Sphere."

Air Force General Tojo shook his head. "They have grown cold feet. But when did we ever trust their Emperor?"

Several of the men chuckled but Yamazaki held his hand up for silence. "The Prime Minister convened his war cabinet and has spoken with the Emperor. The move by the Manchurians means they will cut off ties once conflict commences. We cannot allow China to initiate said conflict. It must be on our terms. That is why the cabinet has voted to go to war."

There was excited silence in the room. Yamazaki held his hand to indicate he was continuing, "After deliberations with the Emperor, we have decided that Prime Minister Suga is not fit for a wartime role. He has made plans to resign tomorrow. We need a strong wartime Prime Minister. Someone who will inspire. And the Emperor has decided that he will appoint General Tojo to the task. He will best facilitate cooperation between the civilian government and military, and inspire confidence. Every school child reads about the honorable service of Prime Minister Hideki Tojo, and how he, in the face of overwhelming odds, brought victory for our Empire. That is why we expect you, General Hidetoshi Tojo to stand to the task."

There was some clapping, and other commanders patted General Tojo on the back. He was mildly surprised, but looked confident.

Yamazaki bowed to Tojo. "Prime Minister Tojo, tomorrow you lead our nation into glory."

The day was fairly quiet. At the Tokyo Imperial Palace, Prime Minister Suga and all of his ministers resigned before the Emperor. Appointed to take his place was Air Force General Hidetoshi Tojo, with Suga now serving as the Deputy Prime Minister. It was meant to be as unnoticeable as possible, and all ministers were immediately resworn to their positions. It was an important aim that the West and Chinese not become aware to speculate its meanings.

Meanwhile across Japan, Manchukuo, the Republic of China, and the Nanyo Mandate, targeted arrests were made of protesters whom would be shipped out to Tsingtao.

In the Pacific, the Imperial Navy's Kido Buntai officially moved out towards Hainan for upcoming drills in the region.

"Tomorrow, we initiate the largest conventional conflict the world has seen since the Korean War. We have made the necessary preparations. I know some of you have prayed it not come to this, but we have been forced by Chinese and Korean build-ups, our own neglect, and the Manchurian betrayal. Our attack will come precisely at 5:00 AM tomorrow, Sunday, June 13th. It will be limited in scope, only due to our wish to present the attack as being retaliatory. We have selected targets in which we shall attack with 300 missiles. Our strike is meant to be somewhat limited. We will aim to destroy Chinese capabilities at sea and in the air without provoking nuclear retaliation." called new Prime Minister Tojo, who had elected to serve as his own Minister of the Air Force.

Yamaguchi nodded. "While we are authorized to go to war, and we have a declaration of war already written up, there is a possibility that the weak willed Chinese will decide not to resort to all out war. We also want to present them as the aggressor, so that is why our strike will be more limited than it should be. We will be striking targets in Qingdao, Ningbo, Zhanjiang, Shanghai, Anqing, Bailian, Fuzhou, Leiyang, and Base 61. Qingdao, Ningbo, Zhanjiang, and Shanghai are all locations of key Chinese naval bases. Airbases in Anqing, Bailian, Fuzhou, and Leiyang contain some of China's interceptor and bomber capabilities, while Base 61 represents their only missile unit that is all conventional, at least officially. In this sense, by not striking Chinese nuclear formations, we are less likely to push them towards nuclear retaliation."

As the meeting continued, there was complete approval. The mission would go on.

With the military wishing for justification and complete surprise the Ministry of Foreign Affairs did just that. While it was doubtful it would be read so early in the morning at all, the ministry prepared its announcement to be released just two minutes before the strike began. The first copy would also be in Japanese, to make translation a bit harder, while the second English copy released would come five minutes after the strike began.

The Empire of Japan's trustworthy and reliable Imperial Japanese Army Kenpeitai and Tokubetsu Kōtō Keisatsu have officially concluded their investigation into the terrorist drone attack against the Japanese province of Taiwan. Attached with this memo is the detailed 1,500 page report on the attack. With the conclusion reached, the Empire will now take action against the perpetrators, as it has reserved to do since the day after the strike.

The results of the report have decisively concluded that the terrorist attack was directed and carried out remotely by the forces of the Chinese Soviet Republic. Almost an hour before, Imperial Forces on the mainland attempted a cyber attack, targeting Chinese military targeting systems and communications. Now minutes before, electronic warfare systems aboard a Kawasaki RC-2 now began jamming attempts on enemy air defense systems. Right on the dot, the 300 missiles from various platforms launched up into the air, streaking towards the enemy.

There were numerous targets each chosen for numerous reasons. First was Anqing Tianzhushan Airport. According to intelligence, as well as public information, the former air base served as a dual-use airport. In addition to civilian aircraft, it based the 28th Air Regiment and the 10th Bomber Division. Located in the Chinese Eastern Theater Command, the primary target of this attack would be its facilities and the Xian H-6K bombers based there, to limit China's retaliation and strike capability.

The second target was Bailian Air Base. Per intelligence, located in the Southern Theater Command, this base houses the 126th Air Brigade, equipped with JH-7A fighters. This strike would aim to knock out some of China's air defense capabilities, as well as limit their ability to strike at Hainan at a later date. Next on the list was Changxing Air Base. Located in Eastern Theater Command, this base was allegedly home to the 8th Brigade, armed with J-10 fighters. Last of the airbases would be Leiyang Air Base in Southern Theater Command. This base was were the 8th Bomber Division was based. With its HY-6 tankers and H-6K bombers, it represented a major threat to Hainan.

Other targets would include Base 61, China's only all conventional missile unit. While it was said that most of their missiles were not in range of Japan, no chances were being taken. Targets of Base 61 would include Brigade 611, with its site in Chizhou City, Brigade 612 in Jingdezhen City, and Brigade 615 in Meizhou City.

Included in the strikes would be Jiangnan Shipyard, where China's newest carriers were under construction, as well as Huarun Dadong Shipyard, Shanghai Naval Base, and Zhonghua Shipyard in Shanghai. Elsewhere, targets included the Zhanjiang Naval Base and Ningbo Fleet Headquarters.

Orders were these were to be the only targets for now. The minute the Chinese fired back, they had the go ahead to fully initiate the Chinese side of Operation Ihyo, with dozens more strikes and heavy ballistic missile bombardment. But for now, the complex operation unfolded.

Near simultaneously, 161 Tomahawk cruise missiles from cruisers, destroyers, and frigates of the fleet along with several from ground positions in Okinawa shot up into the air heading North. 21 of these missiles would head towards Jiangnan Shipyard. 38 would be directed towards Shanghai Naval Base while another 15 would target Zhonghua Shipyard. Only 7 would target Huarun Dadong Shipyard as 12 would race towards Ningbo Fleet Headquarters. The idea was that while each group of missiles would be aimed towards a different target, they where all heading into the same areas, a move which could impact the effectiveness of Chinese air defenses. Especially the Shanghai shipyards, all located in a stretch of no more than 10 miles from one another, this group of missiles was hoped to overwhelm Chinese defenses. Another 23 would be aimed at Anqing Tianzhushan Airport. 15 missiles each would target Brigade 611, Brigade 612, and Brigade 615.

From ground positions in Taiwan, 71 ground based Tomahawk cruise missiles were deployed southwards. Of these missiles, 25 would be aimed at Zhanjiang Naval Base, 23 at Bailian Air Base, and 23 at Leiyang Air Base.

From two dozen Nakajima G10N-Kai bombers, escorted by F-35Bs, F-15Js, and F-2s, 50 Harpoon missiles and 18 stealth AGM-158C LRASM missiles were launched. 10 of Harpoons each would target the two existing Chinese carriers in Shanghai, while 5 each would be directed towards 6 different Chinese destroyers. 5 LRASM missiles each would target the two carriers, while 2 LRASM missiles each would be directed at the four Chinese carriers under construction.

The attack had just begun, but crews now scrambled to prepare a second wave of missiles should the Chinese decide to retaliate.

As the attack was being prepared at sea, the Republic of China Army sprang into action. Troops began mining the Longfeng River and the Yongding New River, ahead of a supposed Chinese advance. By 5:00 AM, positions across the rivers had been booby-trapped and abandoned. On the dot of the start of the attack, the bridges across the rivers were destroyed in fantastic explosions, while behind the lines troops prepared to launch a bombardment once word from Tokyo arrived.

We have launched 300 missiles in memory of our 300 war dead from the Battle of Marco Polo Bridge, the Chinese attack which started our conflict all those years ago in 1937. Our Empire has done a great service to the oppressed people of China in eliminating numerous terror locations. Should Nanjing retaliate at all, the overwhelming might of the Imperial Armed Forces will come crashing down upon them.

In a move that shocked some, Failos Krandiotis was elected Head Of Council 4 days ago. Failos Krandiotis, being far right, has already gained some opposition. Faik Öztrak was also upset with him becoming Head Of Council. He said this to our reporters. "A grave disaster has happened recently, and I worry for the rights of my people. He is another reason why this country is on the road to far right policies. After him, who's next?" Failos responded to this in a calm stance and seemed just generally unfazed. "I understand some people don't agree with me, but I am not the next Hitler. I simply want more men in the army, and to keep security. With the amount of violence that there has been, we must continue to stay sharp so we don't have a terrorist attack here." Some people are claiming he is the savior of Constantinople, others claim he is the ending of Constantinople.
TERRORIST ATTACKS AGAINST CHRISTIANS CONTINUE
Another Church was attacked by a Muslim Terrorist organization, with another 3 dead. This has led to the National Church Security act, which states that churches must have at least a firearm for the pastor, and 2 bodyguard. Faik Öztrak calls the act a good thing, as it brings more jobs and keeps people safe. There are a few things the parties all agree on, but on is keeping people safe. Failos Krandiotis has now gotten a second issue to pass. The Government Weakening Act. This act does 3 things. The first thing is lower taxes on everything, from the poor to the rich, from the Company of 20000 to the Company of 3. The Second thing is give more power to the people, and continue to let the citizens live there own lives economically. The last thing it does is continue to invite companies to come to Constantinople.

Regarding the US, the Nusantaran government fiercely condemns President Maeve Dolonescu and her cabinet for imposing martial law in Florida and Texas, as well as stripping them of basic civil rights and threatening violence against any citizen who might stand in the way of the US military. The Nusantaran government can not tolerate any violence against civilians and advises the US government to reconsider its decision. On the other hand, the Nusantaran government condemns President Maeve Dolonescu for accusing President Naomi Yassin of "hateful rhetoric". While President Naomi Yassin neither supports violence, considers violence a political stance nor believes violence has a place in political diversity, she still believes in both political diversity and human rights, much unlike President Maeve Dolonescu. The Nusantaran government also wants the US government to stop telling Nusantaran citizens to vote for a certain party as they are free to vote for whatever party they like to vote for. If the situation continues to escalate, then the Nusantaran government will eventually place serious sanctions on the US.

Regarding China and Japan, the Nusantaran government is worried about the rising tensions between the two countries and pleads with their respective government to de-escalate.

The Ukraine

The Ukrainian military plans for the retaking of the Donbass were simple on the outside, the proper application of overwhelming force as Churchill once said, however the simplicity of the plan betrayed the hours and days which had went into the operation. It all starting two years prior with the election of the current administration. New units had been raised, old ones had been retrained, new officers had taken to the field and older officers who had been though inept or corrupt had been assigned far away from the front. All of this in an attempt to bring the Ukrainian armed forces to a point where they could reunite their homeland and feel secure in their own lands.

The scale of this operation is in all terms of the word massive. The largest seen since the frantic days of the beginning of the war and probably the largest of the war. A full one hundred and fifteen thousand Ukrainian soldiers were taking part in the campaign. Nearly three thousand armored vehicles, eight hundred main battle tanks, one thousand artillery pieces, and four hundred aircraft were taking part. The operation would soon go down as one of the largest in modern Ukrainian history.

In the early hours of June 14th, with a light drizzle of rain dampening the mood of the day, the Ukrainian army leapt into action. Across the entire front but mostly in the regions around the rebel city of Donetsk, Ukrainian artillery roared. Trenches were pounded by towed artillery, rockets slammed into the areas thought to hold SAM and AA sights. Once the skys were thought to be safer, helicopters and circling jets would begin their runs. Hinds and Frogfoots strafed bunkers and trenches as the artillery landed home around them. It wasn't until nearly noon when the rebel soldiers were finally given a break, albeit a small one.

At exactly 11:35 AM four armored fists of the Ukrainian armed forces slammed into the rebel lines. Two aimed at encircling Donetsk itself. One pushed from the north of the city and one from the south, mechanized regiments followed each of the thrusts, lending the armored forces infantry support and giving them a way to hold any seized territory as the armor moved on. Another armored attack was focused from the north at the rebel city of Luhansk, once again the armor was intent on skirting the city itself with the aim of encirclement. The final armored thrust aimed at Torez as their goal, taking the city would hopefully strain the logistics line between the two rebel republics.

Elsewhere in Ukraine forces guarded the border with the Russian Empire. Having been recently reinforced the total number of troops to roughly one hundred and five thousand. These forces are primarily situated around the cities of Kharkiv, Poltava, and Hlukhiv with another force at the Crimean border. Further into Ukraine units are stationed in the major river crossings of Kiev, Dnipro, and Zaporizhzhia with smaller units at the more minor crossings.

The representatives words were not wrong but produced two distinct sets of side conversations.

Honoured members of the Assembly. While I believe we all assent to recognize the gravity of Climate Change. If we are to enforce such a thing as a new agreement with proper 'teeth'. Recent Happenings in the Nusantaran Federation

The Nusantaran Federation rejected Operation Domestic Peace and began a wide sweeping reform to combat corruption on various levels in its varied regions. The ethnically diverse country has managed to form a coalition of assenting parties cooperating in the endeavor. Additionally, the Federation has taken the side to agree with the Mongolian proposal to administrate and incorporate the primarily Mongolian speaking and ethnic regions of Inner Mongolia and North Chahar into their country. The issue over the autonomous region which has been stuck in diplomatic limbo for the past eighty years since the end of World War II is currently being hotly debated in the UN. Expected conclusions on the matter are likely to not transpire until the end of July as debates and votes sway too and for with no clear majority gained for either side.

A Fracturing Union

Recent events by President Maeve Dolonescu seems to only have fanned the flames in the United States. The Dollar is continuing the weaken while inflation concerns are on the rise with commodities not only to expect a 15% price increase by the end of the year, but also intermittent shortages of even basic goods and services may begin in August if not earlier. All of this being the background to the beginnings of civil conflict as National Guard forces return fire on American regulars advancing into states openly opposing and threatening sedition over Dolonescu's policies. However, American regulars via the United States Army and Marine Corps have made a good showing of gaining control over vital transit and municipal zones across Texas and Florida. But as soon as one location is occupied another flares up.

Texas is now officially joined by Florida, Montana, Wyoming, Nevada, Alabama, Mississippi, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Missouri, and Iowa with demands to reverse the latest policies or all before mentioned states will consider their membership in the Union null and void. Based on the fact that with Federal authorities breaching the U.S. Constitution and no longer fulfilling its duties the States in question will no longer be bound by the document. Declaring that if Dolonescu and the Democrat majority Congress has already effectively dissolved the Federal governments legitimacy over their States. South Carolina, Tennessee, West Virginia, and Arizona are set to vote on the matter of secession come to July if policies and actions are not rapidly walked back both by Congress and the current executive Administration.

Additionally, Military recruitment has flatlined with cases of desertion beginning to crop up in prior mentioned states. This is possibly related to the authorization of several state governors on the forming of militia forces to oppose Federal authorities with force if necessary.

Argentina, however, in a move of combating a possible Civil Conflict ripping apart much of North America is calling on other nations in the Americas to intervene or at minimum pressure the Dolonescu administration to make amends with the above states.


Outcries over Constantinopolitan Policies

Outcries from Turkey and other Muslim Majority nations over the Constantinopolitan governments latest legislation has increased. With Muslims in the Free City and throughout the Middle East and further abroad, even in the Nusantaran Federation, protesting over the measures. While mass resignations in the government have draw several theories. The most popular being an erosion in the government's democratic processes and the other being a possible government collapse which would require an entirely new City government being sworn in.

War in Asia?

Tensions flared hot over what appears to be a concerted Japanese attack on the Chinese Soviet Republic. The Japanese government have accused China over drone attacks against Formosa while the Chinese Soviet has likewise declared a drone attack by Japan against shipyards in Shanghai. It is currently unclear as to the origin of either but what is apparent is that the Japanese have initiated military hostilities with the Chinese Soviet Republic. Already, surrounding countries have begun reacting to conflict in the region with the Nusantaran and Australian governments seeking to further relations with each other in a bid to preserve the economic and sovereign integrity of the South Pacific's geo-political landscape.

Donbas War Goes Hot

Both Separatist and Ukrainian sources accused each other of attacks which presaged a large Ukrainian response during the night and early hours of the morning. Tens of thousands of Ukrainian troops with significant amounts of tanks, armored vehicles, and air support began a concentrated assault on Separatist defenses. What we've managed to piece together so far after the first hours of artillery duels and troop movements is the following:

11:02AM: Several AA positions destroyed by Ukrainian artillery and air assets.
11:17AM: 1 Ukrainian Su-25 shot down via Separatist SAM located East of Donetsk. Pilot reported to have ejected.
11:23AM: 2 Ukrainian Hinds reported shot down returning from strafing runs by Separatist AA autocannon fire from Donetsk itself. One destroyed with pilots killed and the other managed to safely land behind Ukrainian trench lines. Pilot conditions are unknown.
11:35AM: Ukrainian armored assault to cut off and take Donetsk. While exact figures of the force are not stated by Ukrainian spokespersons the Separatists state that approximately four brigades worth of troops are involved.
11:45AM: War Correspondents for GNN report that Ukrainian forces have breached the Separatist trench lines and inflicting approximately 200 dead and wounded on Separatist forces around Donetsk. Ukrainian losses are stated to be slightly less along with the loss of one T-64BV to Separatist AT fire from Donetsk during the Ukrainian assault along the north across the Sergey Profokiev Airport. Halting the Ukrainian Northern attack for a full half hour until infantry forces took the Separatist outpost at Spartak. Pushing Separatist forces back to the airport proper, Donetsk, Makiivka, Yakovlivka and Yasynuvata.
12:10PM: Separatist forces from the 1st Sloviansk Brigade mount a counter attack from Yakovlivka but are repulsed with the reported loss of twenty-three soldiers. Ukrainian losses were reported at seven dead and two wounded from this counter-attack.
12:17PM: Ukrainian Su-25 reported to have destroyed an AA SAM site in Donetsk. While a second Ukrainian Su-25 was damaged and withdrawn from the front for repairs when conducting operations further East around Temyruk. The Southern pincer by now was involved in intense fighting with the 1st Sloviansk Brigade in the outlying villages to the southern side of Donetsk: Oleksandrivka, Andriivka, and Mar'yanivka. Ukrainian losses reported by the units taking part in the southern drive tallied sixty-one dead and one hundred and four wounded of all cases. Additionally, three T-72s were knocked out but managed to drive away under their own power from long range RPG fire from the woodlands to the West of Andriivka by Donetsk Militia forces.
12:27PM: Village of Andriivka reported to be taken by the Ukrainian Army.
12:30PM: Separatist BMP-1 destroyed by Ukrainian air assets to the North-East of Andriivka.
12:46PM: Separatist Oplot Brigade reported to have launched assault from Yasynuvata. Temporarily retaking Spartak with Ukrainian losses reporting one T-80 knocked out by Separatist armored platoons advancing from the town. Accompanied by AA autocannons mounted on trucks. The T-80 was eventually recovered when a concerted Ukrainian counter-assault forced the withdrawal of the Oplot Brigade from the Spartak position. But had to be towed away by a recovery vehicle. Eleven other casualties were recorded by the Ukrainian Army.

Northern Drive on Luhansk

11:50AM Ukrainian forces breach Separatist front line defenses. Approximately three hundred Ukrainian casualties including three damaged helicopters are recorded. The Separatist Zarya Battalion and Don Cossack National Guard launched a mechanized counter offensive by 12:30PM.
12:34PM Reports of fighting raging in the villages of Lymen and Metalist. With Vesela Hora in Ukrainian hands. Ukrainian losses include the loss of several armored vehicles with two separatist armored vehicles also reported destroyed.

Southern Drive to Torez (Now known as Chystiakove to the East of Donetsk)

The southern drive managed to progress rapidly from Haritne and reached to cut the road linking Boykivs'ke to the South with Rozdol'ne to the North. Managing to ford its way across the small river behind the Separatist trenches before being bogged by by withering Separatist AT, small arms, artillery, and AA fire from neighboring towns and villages. Estimates support over one hundred Ukrainian casualties suffered throughout the morning with at least four vehicles damaged or lost.

1200 Hours, June 14th

General Vasily Vladimirovich Belisarion glanced at the reports and satellite images arrayed before him on a set of tables. Maps of Ukraine were pinned onto the walls beside him with zoomed in maps of the Donbas region laid out above the images. The neat rectangular photographs lined up with photos taken from the ground by Separatists and transmitted to Russia. Russian recon satellites and operatives on the ground were telling the same story the Separatists and Press were. The dispatch from STAVKA putting all forces under his command on war readiness only confirmed the probability of military action. The Ukrainian Government had launched an all out attack that was well beyond the normal harassing gunfire both Separatist and Ukrainians indulged in from time to time. This was a clear and total tearing up of every armistice treaty with zero subtleness. A move riding on a surge of popular support for the new government that would only escalate things further. So far the southern pincer was the most threatening because if it reached its position east of Donetsk then the Ukrainians could, in a costly but possibly decisive maneuver, force the northern pincer forth to connect. Let alone the separate attacks towards Luhansk and Chyiakove to the East.

Mortars, artillery, and rockets shot into the sky in angry flurries. Ukrainian ordinance answering in kind throughout much of Donetsk. The civilian population was largely forced to hunker down in ad hoc bunkers, basements, or metro stations. Others braved the artillery and air strikes to flee East further into the Donetsk People's Republic. The sound of heavy machine gun fire and other high caliber weaponry rattled to the North and South as fighting continued between the assaulting Ukrainians and the Pro-Russian Separatist forces.

Hunkering down among the trees of the Donets'ke More Park, next to the Donets'ke lake which allowed a view of the southern villages and small suburbs. The eight man Spetsnaz team watched the struggle unfold. The Ukrainian's had breached the trenches providing forward defense and had pushed across open areas to try and cut off Donetsk. So far the Southern Pincer was the most successful and now was anchored in the village of Andriivka to the South-East.

"Can affirm massive Ukrainian pincer assault to the North and South of Donetsk. Allied forces have so far prevented the pincers linking up to the East. Reports of significant fighting in villages around Donetsk proper and the Profokiev Airport! Yes, General. Ukrainian Armor amounting to several battalions along with supporting mechanized and motorized infantry of equivalent or greater strength. Ukrainian Air Assets in use but now being held back by increasing Allied AA assets targeting the combat zones. Over."

The voice of Captain Borodin Zymoshenko carried over the radio. Speaking directly to General Belisarion all the way in Taganrog.

Borodin turned and waved up two men, Anatoli and Pasha, who began panning with bulky range finders. Calling in grid coordinates to the Borodin who radioed it to Taganrog.

General Belisarion's HQ was a flurry of activity as the General pointed to a grid map synonymous with Vega's radio transmissions. "I want battery artillery and rocket fire on to isolate Andriivka to cut off the tip of the pincer and create distance between their forward elements and the rest of their columns. Fire for coverage." The staff officer was already radioing the order to standby artillery units.

The Russian Empire had twenty-five Battalion Tactical Groups on the border with Ukraine and the Separatist republics. Not counting the troops in the Crimea and the Navy's Black Sea Fleet units operating out of Sevastopol. Each Battalion Tactical Group was drawn from a standing army unit containing a battalion sized mixture of hard and soft ground units designed for mobility and punching power following Russian Deep Battle Doctrines. Russian artillery and rocket forces were fixed in batteries running along the border of the republics and Ukraine. Amounting to three hundred towed artillery pieces and two hundred and twenty self propelled guns supported by eighty-six rocket self propelled weapon systems. Operating namely the 2A65 Msta-B, 2A36 Giatsint-B, 2S7 Malka, 2S19 Msta, the 2S3 Akatsiya, BM-21 Grad, and the BM-27 Uragan.

At 1230 Hours the Russian artillery forces were confirming their fire missions for all units in range. All eighty-six rocket batteries and approximately one hundred and forty towed and self-propelled artillery pieces. At 1315 Hours they fired more or less in unison at Ukrainian forces to the West of Andriivka.

Meanwhile every AA gun, SAM, and missile interception asset from Sevastopol to Rostov to Bryansk was ready. All air assets were mobilizing with Su-27s, Su-30s, MiG-29s, Su-24s and 25s, MiG-31s,and MiG-35s readying to scramble for missions and enforcing air superiority. Approximately four hundred combat ready multi-role, aerial supremacy, and ground attack craft were prepped and ready by the time the artillery fired their salvo.

However, the Russian Ground Forces had not yet crossed the border and merely were at the ready to make their maneuvers. Which, when combined with Crimean and brigade level forces also under Belisarion's command amounted to approximately 95,000 Russian Ground troops. With two Airborne Brigades and three Naval Infantry Regiments from Sevastopol, Krasnodar, and Rostov-na-Donu ready to move out if the Russian Admiralty authorized the Black Sea Fleet to begin conducting operations against the Ukrainian coast.

The Russian plan of intervention was more or less simple in terms of axis. Drive Ukrainian forces due West in the direction of the Dnieper river until Kiev begged for a ceasefire and favorable terms with Moscow. In the North the 4th Kantimirovskaya's Tank Division's 1st BTG was ready to strike West along the highway to Bilovods'k and thence to Starobils'k. The 4th's 2nd BTG would be moving behind Separatist lines to reinforce Luhansk and drive the Ukrainians back alongside the 21st Guards Motor Rifle Brigade. Six other BTG's from units in the Western Military District, primarily mixed Motor Rifle and Armor, would be driving parallel at the villages to reach Novoaidar and Novopskov. The other seventeen Battalion Tactical Groups would be entering the Separatist Republics to reinforce and then drive back the Ukrainian's before moving to counter-attack. Events which would hopefully lead to the encirclement and destruction of significant Ukrainian Army and National Guard formations.

I would like to begin today, with an acknowledgement to all the lives lost around the world over these terroristic tragedies. From Sweden, to Nusantaran, to America's own shores. My heart goes out to all the victims and their families. And it is precisely for these people, that I am so adamant about stomping out these acts of terror in all forms.

Next, I would like to congratulate the Prime Minister of England, for coming to his senses on the issue of Operation Domestic Peace. I do not expect every nation to be as concerned about terrorism as others. So the United Kingdom abstaining from this vote, in this regard is something I can respect. Although as I hope the Prime Minister can understand, I must reject his offer to meet at this time. Right wing extremists have once again begun attempting to circumvent the will of the people with their violence. I will not let this stand, not now, now ever. This is also why I sadly cannot retract my call for the United Kingdom's expulsion from NATO. As the continued racist and imperialist practices of the nation, are a blemish on an alliance born out of a defense of freedom and liberty for all peoples. Not just the white men in power. Should the United Kingdom release their colonial nations, upon such time the United States will expediently roll back this call for expulsion. But not one moment sooner.

Now onto the concerns raised by the President of Cuba. I understand your concerns. From the outside looking in, these may appear to be nothing but partisan politics being met with undue force. But please look closer that the surface or the news reports. We have men waving racist and hateful symbols. Nazi flags, confederate flags, and worse, in the faces of innocent people through the nation. These people are heavily armed, gun toting lunatics. And they increasingly use force to demand their will be met. They wish to subvert the will of the people who elected my predecessor and myself into office. And I will not let that stand. And anyone who supports democracy, should not let this stand.

As for the hateful rhetoric being used by the President of Nusantaran. I and the American people resent your blatant mischaracterization of events. Violence, is not a political stance and has no place in political diversity. And to call someone fighting insurrectionists a 'radical' is nothing short of inflammatory. Although I weep for her people. As her foolish refusal of the ODP Task Force, surely makes her people more vulnerable to attacks. I pray the people of Nusantaran support the Democratic party further in their next elections, so that we as nations might grow closer and fight these terrorists together.

To comment on the Mongolian question before the United Nations, America intends to vote NO on this resolution. America will always champion autonomy for all nations that desire it. To keep on the United Nations, I would like to thank all that voted YAY for my resolution. I deeply implore those of you that abstained or voted NO to rethink your position. Together we can stamp out terrorism before it ever takes another life. But we need your support. Please do not make the mistake of having to look back one day when a bomb goes off in your nation, regretting voting NO on this.

As a final note to the states that have so boldly threatened me with secession from the union. I must remind you that you are not in good company. The last time states seceded, it was over racist demagoguery. And it seems like history aims to repeat itself. The previous attempts at secession were on the wrong side of history, and that is undoubtedly the case once again. And this threat, shall not be taken lightly in the slightest. I am hereby declaring a state of emergency for the states of Texas and Florida. For the safety of this Union, I am suspending the following rights within those states as we assure the safety of the people from potential violence and rebellion. The Army is deployed
June 20th, 2021

United States armed forces from every major branch are deployed in both Texas and Florida to enforce this new state of Martial Law on the states. National Guard forces made every attempt at blocking their entry, but on order of President Dolonescu, the military was given authorization to use lethal force on all that attempt to stop their activities. The borders of both Texas and Florida saw constant gun fire for three days before the lines broke and the National Guard units for each state folded under the pressure of the superior force advancing on them. Tank rolled down main streets in Austin, Dallas, Fort Worth, Tallahasse, Miami, and Orlando. Total military command was established by the 27th of June. The legislatures of both states arrested and charged with treason by the 28th.

To call the United Kingdom a racist and imperialist nation is a step too far for President Maeve Dolonescu. I will not accept this level of disgusting violent rhetoric to stand. We have already made great strides within Texas and Florida. And our work has shone a light on the other cancerous parts of our nation in response. We will cut each rotten piece out of this nation, bit by bit until it is gone and the promise made by the founding fathers of this nation can be truly fulfilled to people of all races and origins.

To that affect, I am hereby declaring a national state of emergency, and formally commanding the Federal Bureau of Investigation to include the Republican party on the Terror Organization list, for as long as so many members of the party continue to support these violent insurrectionists. And I shall use my executive authority to make an emergency declaration of war against all Terror Organizations active within the United States Borders. To help with the sudden and disturbing desertion by terrorist sympathizers within the armed forces, I will be working with Speaker Patel and congress to create a new selective service act. "My fellow Americans, today I come to you in great sorrow. We have states and governors that seem to prefer radical, and violent right wing extremists, over the true American people that they victimize. I will not accept this level of disgusting violent rhetoric to stand. We have already made great strides within Texas and Florida. And our work has shone a light on the other cancerous parts of our nation in response. We will cut each rotten piece out of this nation, bit by bit until it is gone and the promise made by the founding fathers of this nation can be truly fulfilled to people of all races and origins.

To that affect, I am hereby declaring a national state of emergency, and formally commanding the Federal Bureau of Investigation to include the Republican party on the Terror Organization list, for as long as so many members of the party continue to support these violent insurrectionists. And I shall use my executive authority to make an emergency declaration of war against all Terror Organizations active within the United States Borders. To help with the sudden and disturbing desertion by terrorist sympathizers within the armed forces, I will be working with Speaker Patel and congress to create a new selective service act. Conscription of all men and women of fighting age will be mandatory for the time of this conflict. When your name is called, do what you must to fight for freedom, anti-racism, and the American way. As for the bold words by the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, your detainment of American forces is foolish, and an act of outright war. Soon after with all crew at their places, the Captain ordered that tubes 1 and 2 be loaded with Harpoon ASMs with tubes 3 and 4 loaded with torpedos. With all tubes loaded and the fire control locked on the container ship, all that was needed was for the Captain to give the order to fire.

Alexis turns to her Captain with frown, "Captain sir, are you sure this is the right thing to do? These are our friends and our allies."

Roger shook his head, "Not any more Commander, not anymore. The president has used the American military to go after her political enemies and as such crossed a line. We have been ordered to assist all secessionist movements in America and sink any American ship we see but only if they refuse to surrender to surface warships of the Royal Navy."

Mrs. President Addresses US Situation Again

SINGAPORE - President Naomi Yassin has made another official statement regarding the political situation in the United States of America (USA), which has recently worsened. She and her government were shocked by the recent secessions in the country and the potential risk of a second civil war there. Mrs. President fully condemns President Maeve Dolonescu and the entire US government for not de-escalating the situation. As of this report, the Nusantaran government is officially placing sanctions on the US. New Political Party Formed

NUSANTARA - In response to the recent presidential statement, some conservative members of the National Development Party (PPN) and the Popular Action Party (PTR) have defected to form a new political party called the "Traditional Action Party" (PTT). There isn't so much information about this new party, but it is socially conservative and fiercely capitalist. Dato' Sri Haji Abdul Wahid bin Tun Haji Abdul Razak (pictured above), a longtime member of the Popular Action Party, formed it in order to support Operation Domestic Peace and put an end to religious violence in Nusantara. He describes his party's main ideology as "democratic conservatism", which seeks to mix conservative policies with democratic values. He describes it as being similar to conservative democracy and compassionate conservatism. He says that his party welcomes any religion and promises to uphold family values. He also pleads to the current government to lift the sanctions on the US and avoid causing further diplomatic conflict with it. Both the National Development Party and the Popular Action Party fiercely denounced the Traditional Action Party as being supportive of the controversial Operation Domestic Peace and called upon it to regret such decision. The Traditional Action Party, on the other hand, accuses the current coalition government of harming diplomatic and economic ties with the US.

SOUTHEAST ASIA - It is rumored right now that Nusantara is forming an alliance with Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, Myanmar and the Philippines, mostly in response to both the rising tensions in East Asia and the worsening situation in the US. This alliance seeks to faciliate economic, political, scientific, social, military and educational integration among both Southeast Asia and the rest of Asia, as well as upholding the independence and cultural values of each member-state. The Presidents Office had become rather filled for most of the day, Poltorak preferred working out of the comfort of his own office and had thus had his office turned into a temporary crisis management center. The Ukrainian forces were pushing forward still, all the pushes except the southern front after its quick string of successes that is. "Are you positive it is coming from outside Luhansk and from inside the Empire Captain?" Poltorak said, one eyebrow raised as the young intelligence captain gave his report. "Yes Mr. President, I myself personally triple checked the information before relaying it to you sir!" The enthusiastic Captain said. Poltorak realized he must have been one of the officers which had come in his spring cleaning of the ranks, it would explain his youth and enthusiasm. "Very well Captain, you are dismissed" The President said as the young man gave him a crisp salute and retreated from the room.

"Suggestions?" Poltorak then said, his eyes sweeping the room around him. Nobody spoke for several seconds before another younger face, perhaps mid thirties, wearing the rank of a Colonel spoke. "Hit them back sir? They surely cannot complain if we use counter artillery to protect our troops, especially since we have enough evidence to at least persuade the west that they were indeed shelling our men," the full bird Colonel said.

"I agree, General Alexandrov," The President said, looking at an older man who was in charge of the Luhansk push. "Turn your guns on the russian artillery, give them a few rounds and then move the weapons. I want your attack to be nothing more than a reminder to the Russians that we can hit back if we feel it necessary." Poltorak said. A sigh escaped his lips and then looked at one of the many maps in the room. "As well, pull back the Luhansk push and Southern push entirely, they are in incredible risk of encirclement should the Empire fully intervene. At this point we all know a victory against the empire is all but ensured and that we hoped they were distracted by the bickering asians, so I will be cancelling this operation. We should be early enough in the conflict to call this a simple flare up of the fighting and ask for another ceasefire,"

It is unfortunate the circumstances of this communication, especially in light of this mornings flare up of hostilities. The Government of Ukraine wishes it to be known that those involved in the flare up will be reprimanded and that those troops threatening and encirclement of Luhansk and those involved in a push east are to be withdrawn to the ceasefire borders. Should rebel forces attempt to stall and or block these withdrawals then Ukrainian forces will have no choice but to resume hostilities in order to safe guard the lives of our soldiers. Finally we would like the Russian Government, for the safety and stability of the region, to communicate to the Rebel organizations that we are willing to enter in to a new ceasefire and finally further talks to end the conflict conclusively.

The Ukrainian artillery strike was initially a surprise, as far as those could go when it was an expectable reality for the soldiers near the eastern border, but never the less General Belisarion could only raise his eyes brows at the reports. The Kremlin was shut off from the public the moment Stavka received Belisarions report. Soldiers armed ready for combat appeared out of the back of rapidly mobilizing military trucks. The gates shut as the Moscow Garrison deployed to take control of vital transit hubs and infrastructure points by 1500 hours. A similar situation was occurring in Saint Petersburg, Minsk, Tsaritsyn, Yekaterinburg, Vladivostok, Novisibirsk, and various other major cities. But that was not all. Stavka had already enacted the first part of Operation Yuzhnaya Zvezda or Operation Southern Star. Known as Operation Zapad or Operation West. Calling for a massive synchronized Maskirovka campaign.

The soft footsteps of Vladimir Putin came down the hall. Minister Lavrov on his heels and speaking quickly, "The Ukrainian's sent a dispatch. Willing to return to status quo. This conflict benefits us, not Kiev." Putin, however, made no reply as they rounded a corner and with a pair of armed guards opening the doors to the room both men were met by over two dozen faces flanked by a similar number of aides. Defense Minister Sergei Shoygu nodded to both men. Officers from all branch of service were present with their chiefs of staff. While officers of the Imperial Guard and IKGB were also present. Along with at least half a dozen other governmental agencies. Dmitry Medvedev occupied the last seat to the left of the Prime Minister as he took his own seat. Lavrov opposite.

Shoygu stood, "Ukrainian Artillery targeted known artillery positions situated in the Voronezh, Belgorod, and Rostov Oblasts. You all know the exact dates and times by the report copies on the table. So I wont bore you with the minutiae. As of 1400 Hours Stavka appraised Her Majesty of the situation and orders for Operation Zapad were given by myself. The Tsarina has since fully authorized Operation Yuzhnaya Zvezda with messages going out to all Oblats in Belarus and the Western Military District for the activation and mobilization of the 7th Tank Army and the 65th Army Corps. The 6th Army in Belarus will be mobilizing its standing forces to the Southern border for their part in Operation Zapad."

Shoygu turned to a large interactive map of Ukraine and the surrounding region before continuing to speak, "6th Army, utilizing the 11th Guards Mechanized Brigade, 38th and 103rd Mobile Brigades, and 5th Spetsnaz Brigade supported by four attached Artillery Regiments and two MRL Regiments, will prepare for a limited offensive along a South-West axis aimed at Kovel in six days time. This is largely a distraction as it will take approximately one week for Grade A mobilization units to come to strength and be in position along the Belarusian-Ukrainian border for the sub-component of Zapad known as the Strategic Korosten Offensive. Objectives will be to move Southward supported by airforce assets and elements of the National Guard to secure Varash, Sarny, and Korosten. Thus closing the direct North-west and Western routes out of Kiev. Bringing the Western suburbs of the city into long rage artillery fire. These mobilization forces will be grouped under the 26th Army."

Shoygu moved to the right. A flurry of flipping pages following him. "East of the Dnieper the true objective of Zapad, the Land-Bridge Strategy or securing East-Bank Ukraine of which Zapad is phase one. The 28th and 34th Army Corps consisting of the 34th Tank Division and 38th Guards Air Assault Brigade will move to pierce the border to the north-west of Chernihiv. The two Corps, which will be put under the mobilized 14th Army command staff, will be responsible for securing the city and the infrastructure to the North of Kiev along the Dnieper. As a result the 120th Guards Mechanized Brigade supported by a regimental attached units of engineers, signalers, and NBC troops will be instructed to make a rapid dash for the villages along the Dnieper such as Prokhoriv and Zahatka before moving rapidly South along Ukrainian route P69 to Desna and Oster. Securing a northern approach to Kiev."

The Defense Minister cleared his throat, "At which point General Belisarion's forces will be moving through the Separatist territories to strike the Ukrainian army assets facing them while the 8th Army moves to reinforce his southern flank driving along an axis towards Zaporizhzhia. Additional assets provided by the Southern Military District will come in the form of the Black Sea Fleet beginning to concentrate assets to secure the Ukrainian sea lanes while the 810th Naval Infantry Brigade lands at Mariupol. Supported by direct Fleet, Naval Aviation, and Airforce assets. The 382nd Naval Infantry Battalion will secure Berdyans'k to the South-west of Mariupol to faciliate seaborne landings of additional ground forces and supplies.

"What of the Ukrainian forces to the North of Belisarion?" perked up Medvedev.

Shoygu nodded, "20th Guards Army will strike from the Voronezh Oblast while all these other operations occur in the Izyum Strategic Offensive. Aiming to secure the city of Izyum and therefore Belisarion's flank. Any Ukrainian forces caught East of Izyum will find themselves squeezed in a pocket. Supporting the 20th Guards army is the mobilization forces of the 66th Army to the East and the 13th Army on their right flank shielding the Belgorod Oblast. 2nd Guards Combined Army from Samara belonging to the Central Military District will be mobilized as a strategic operation reserve for all armies actively engaged. Finally the mobilized 5th and 9th Armies will take up position on the borders of the Bryanks and Kursk Oblasts. For the next phase of Operation Southern Star."

"The Ukrainian's have already made a diplomatic move to return to status quo. They know they can't win a full on confrontation," said Lavrov while gesticulating with his hands at the whole operation laid out before him.

Shoygu continued with a nod from Putin, "Southern Star's second phase, Southern Fox, will involve an offensive moving the front line to the Dnieper River. At which point Kiev itself will be a frontline city and the Ukrainians are expected to offer their unconditional surrender. At which point we enter a juncture. We continue with Zapad's Dream, the third phase, which is a crossing of the Dnieper with the ultimate goal of securing the whole of West-Banked Ukraine in a series of tactical offensives. By that time the Ukrainian military and infrastructure would be too weak to offer resistance capable of stopping Ground Force offensives."

Medvedev spoke up, "Air assets?"

"Approximately nine hundred planes are earmarked for the operation. Over five hundred multirole, interceptor, and aerial supremacy fighters. Over two hundred attack craft. One hundred strategic bombers from Tu-95s to our Mach 2 and 3 planes. The rest will be an assortment of reconnaissance, intelligence, radar, electronic warfare, supply, and support craft. Helicopter strength will be approximately three hundred and fifty-seven craft of which one hundred and eleven will be gunships and attack helicopters."

Lavrov flipped through some more pages, "The personnel requirements of this. Stavka is already enacting mobilization protocols for Grade B as well?"

"Yes. Grand total of personnel earmarked for Southern Star one week from today, at launch of all Zapad elements, will be approximately eight hundred forty-thousand personnel. Maskirovka demands these go unnoticed and as such cyber and communication apparatuses will be conducting misinformation and misdirection campaigns. The borders will close as expected by anyone and for all intents and purposes we will have the appearance of interest in returning to status quo."

As Shoygu finished Lavrov leaned back in his chair. "The Duma will have to convene to vote for wa-."

"We already have. State Duma has cast their votes to announce a Declaration of War in six days." Medvedev slid the paper noting the tallies and his own signature confirming the vote.

"And The Empress?"

Putin leaned in slowly, "She motioned for War in the first place."

Lavrov stood up abruptly at this remark. Flattening his tie. "Very well. May the Motherland be victorious. Thank goodness we have no embassy or consulate in Ukraine." At that he turned and left the room.

The Russian Government is willing to discuss negotiations with the settlement of the Donbas conflict with respect to the government in Kiev. The Ukrainian Ambassador will be expected to arrive at Sevastopol to meet with their Russian counterpart, a fitting location, to discuss a more permanent armistice. At which point a larger agreement with the Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics will be order to hopefully seek an end to the war and mediation of those territories.

Long lines of cars waiting to cross at the Russo-Ukrainian border stations suddenly found Imperial Border Service Guards moving to block access. Waving Russian citizens through but denying all Ukrainians. Ukrainians coming back South however found themselves allowed past upon a search of their belongings. Border Guards searching every crevice of their vehicles while armed Guards monitored persons and families until they were clear to transit through. Meanwhile Russian citizens were conversely waved away to turn around. Rostelecom and other state media agencies reported nothing on the matter but mere precautions with current tensions with Ukraine. Private Media outlets suddenly found themselves approached by non-uniformed officers of the IKGB who through resourceful negotiations about love of the Motherland had them spin stories about the negotiations and peace talks.

All the while reservists were called up and trains of war material were shipped in and placed by night. Almost all movement was done by night often in total darkness along pre-planned and cleared routes. While in the day the Russians made a show of removing assets as an apparent sign of good faith. In reality they were moving them into hidden, prepared, positions to then be quickly re-placed for the start of Southern Star. All in all some fourteen hundred tanks, three thousand APCs/IFVs, over two thousand artillery and rocket pieces, and several hundred other military support vehicles including a legion of military trucks were all moved into position.

June 16th the Black Sea Fleet slipped its moorings at Sevastopol, Rostov, Novorossiysk, and Yeysk. While transports of the 810th and 382nd Naval Infantry readied in transports for their landings just out of sight from the coast. Mixed with surface fleet assets. The Supercarrier Nikita with its squadron of destroyers, three frigates, and Kirov Battlecruiser maneuvered to impose a zone of control near Odessa and the mouth of the Dnieper. While the Aircraft Carrier Kuznetsov supported by two frigates and five destroyers moved to secure the crossing the Naval Infantry would take from Yeysk to Berdyans'k and Mariupol. While the rest of the Black Sea Fleet fanned out into positions from the Straits of Marmara just outside the Constantinople Maritime territory to Ukraine's southern border and thence East to Sevastopol. Russian Submarines prowled beneath them along the coast.

1300 Hours

It was one o'clock in the afternoon when the elements of the 6th Army moved against the Ukrainian border. The 5th Spetsnaz Brigade sending force three companies which struck Ukrainian border posts. Followed by the 11th Guards Mechanized Brigade moving in force to cross into Ukraine proper. Supported by AA and Artillery. A flight of Kamov Ka-50 helicopters, four in total, prowling behind the lead elements to offer close end fire support. The mobile brigades attached to the 6th would be making for Samari-Orikhovi while the 11th would try to move directly to Ratne. Their formations fanning out of over the flat steppe of the Ukrainian western landscape.

While only minutes before, the Russian formal Declaration of War had been announced on television by Dmitry Medvedev from before the State Duma building in Moscow. It was a short speech, barely three minutes long, extoling the virtues of the nation's soldiers and citing the Ukrainian's initial breaches of ceasefires and artillery strike in Russian territory as casus belli.

June 15th-16th

A large amount of movement in air assets by the Russian Armed Forces is noticed by Ukrainian intelligence but it mostly chalked up to a show of force by the Russians or a reorganization of their assets in response to the most recent flare up. Air defenses along the border are put on alert for the next few days. At the same time by 2pm on the 16th all Ukrainian forces have officially returned to the ceasefire lines that were in place prior to the escalation of combat.

Later the same day Ukrainian Intelligence notices that the Russian fleet in the black sea have slipped their lines and have moved out. Aircraft with the capability to locate the Russian fleet are immediately sent out.

June 17th

In response to the Russian fleets movements the Coastal Defense forces, including those wielding the newly commissioned "Neptune" missile systems are put on alert. The Flagship of the Ukrainian Fleet Hetman Sahaydachniy along with an escort of five Gurza-M patrol ships. The task force will patrol between Odessa and Mariupol over the next five days in response to the Russians show of naval force.

June 20th

Ukrainian border guards are caught off guard as elements of the Russian 6th army sweep them aside. Elements of the 95th Air Assault Brigade, 14th Mechanized Brigade, 24th Mechanized Brigade, 39th Anti-Aircraft Missile Brigade, and 44th Artillery Brigade of Operational Command West are mobilized soon after word of the attack and declaration of war reach Kiev. They are sent north to engage enemy forces in the region and push them back across the border.

Soon after the news becomes widespread, Brigades and Divisions across the border of the Russian Empire are put on the highest alert. Troops are recalled as quickly as possible and those units not stationed directly on the frontline but still in the western half of Ukraine are given orders to begin moving towards the border in preparation of a General Russian offensive.

In the south, aircraft locate on Radar what is highly suspected to be a task force of Russian vessels outside the entrance to the Dnieper river. Several surface to ship missiles including the new "Neptune" systems are launched at the suspected task force. Further south the Ukrainian Naval task force is still out at sea and is immediately recalled to Odessa. Missile systems are made ready to assist in the task forces run for safety if need be.

Official Statement from the President of the Third Republic of Cuba

We in Cuba view the United States as our largest ally. From when Cuba first fought for its independence in the late 1800’s, to the Cuban Civil War, the United States has always been there to help guarantee the freedom and liberty of Cuba and its people. Now, as a result of unfortunate circumstances and poor decisions from the Dolonescu Administration, forces from within are tearing the Union, which has stood for more than 240 years, apart. We view this with great concern, which brings me to my announcement. Cuba will not now, nor will it ever, recognize the states that have seceded from the Union as legitimate nations or governments. We will also be placing the following sanctions on any and all individuals who are associated with the “governments” and “militaries” of Texas, the Constitutional Confederacy, Cascadia, and the UAS, in an executive order that I will sign later today:

- prevention of legal travel to and sanctuary in Cuba and its territories
- prevention from access to Cuban state-owned assets in the territories of the seceded states
- seizure of and prevention of access to assets owned by individuals of these “governments” and “militaries” in Cuba and its territories
- prevention of communication with Cuban government officials for the purposes of lifting sanctions.

We are also very much aware of the failure of the Dolonescu Administration to de-escalate the situation, as well as rampant constitutional violations that gave these seceding states justification for their actions. An atmosphere of uncertainty had come over Havana, and the rest of Cuba at that. With the recent condemnation of the different secessionist “nations” that has separated from the United States, the people of Havana had begun preparing for the worst. For what reason? The Constitutional Confederation of States, one of the seceding “nations”, had occupied Florida, meaning that the rebels were right on Cuba’s doorstep. What especially contributed was the mobilization of some reserve troops meant to support the American federal government if and when needed, which the CCS may view as a threat. President Julio Chavez Fierra had proved less than immune to the feeling himself, sitting in his office. It was then that the Cuban Secretary of Defense, Carlos Del Toro, walked into his office. Julio almost immediately turned to him.

“Any news of a response from the rebels?”, Julio asked him.

“No, not yet, fortunately. Reserve troop mobilization is going steadily, with them training in our different bases for different branches. Navy is on high alert monitoring the Florida Strait for rebel activity.”

“Good, good…keep the navy on high alert. Make sure that no rebel activity is spotted near our territorial waters, and keep an eye out for any ships that may aim to support them.”

When I was a young girl, I was told two histories. My father, told me of Romania, his homeland. A place I hold dear to my heart. But my mother, told me the history of America. And while it was a much shorter history, it captivated me in a way I could never truly put into words. And as I stand here today, I think I finally have those words. I remember reading President Abraham Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation. I remember wondering why something so novel and morally just, even had to be proclaimed to begin with. And I never truly understood the weight that he was carrying on his shoulders, until today. I stand before you, President of these fifty states, to make a proclamation of my own. We are a union, indivisible. And we shall not take treason sitting down. This very outcome, these traitorous and life threatening actions taken by right wing radical actors, is exactly what I was attempting to prevent. I have failed in that task, and I shall always be sorry to the American people for that. But, I will make it up to you all. When I return to this spot, it will be to tell you that these traitors have been apprehended, and that stability has returned to our great nation. I call upon our allies, to lend us your aid and fight these traitors to freedom and democracy. And to those that might stand against us in our time of strife, know that such an act will not be forgotten. And will be taken as an act of aggression, or outright war. Let this warning extend to all those that threaten America's sovereignty and control over our lands. The United States, shall prevail. As we always have.

Anarcho Authoritarianism in Cascadia

Commandant Pendergast established firm control over the land now calling itself Cascadia. Members of the New Cascadian Army, made up of mostly ex military veterans as well as gun loving civilians itching to fight for freedom, take post along the borders of this territory. Police are over run in most cities rather suddenly. Rural police do not fight the new leadership much. Most officers just choosing to protect the people of their small towns and not get involved. The New Cascadian Army takes no prisoners for those that fight back though. Having no qualms with eliminating police that refuse to go against the current regime. Denouncing them, calling them bootlickers, and dehumanizing them to the effect of making their elimination liberating. Politicians of all political leanings share the fate of the bootlickers. The governors of the Pacific Northwest states, as well as all state and federal politicians are eliminated with extreme prejudice. Commandant Pendergast takes total control, becoming the sole supreme law of the land. Although he rules with a loose fist and an itchy trigger finger. Opting to allow the people a near total freedom. Although attempts at subverting his control or that of the New Cascadian Army is met with swift and final punishment.

A Return to Form in Texas

Cowboys, revolvers, ranches, freedom. Four words that encapsulate the image most people have of Texas. And they are incredibly apt. Something that is exemplified by the Articles of Liberty, the new founding document co-authored by acting President Elliot Hawk, as well as former Senator and current acting Vice President, Ted Cruz. The Articles of Liberty bear a strong resemblance to the original American constitution, but with a few notable alterations. Firstly, is that the Bill of Rights is perpetually Immune to future amendments, and as well adding an article enforcing the castle doctrine as a core tenant of Texas law.

Elliot Hawk, being very familiar with the situation in several of his cities, is quick to organize a formal military corp. Without using any force, he those who work with him meet with soldiers at military bases and naval shipyards throughout the Texas Republic territory. Before long a general of the US Army is even convinced to defect. The forces that have taken control of most cities within the territory, namely Austin, are given an ultimatum by Hawk, Join, leave, and prepare.

Notable businessman Elon Musk has even been brought on as a defense contractor for the Texas Republic, offering his facilities of both Space X and Tesla in order to build military equipment for newly converted military at cost. Promising to simplify the tech as Hawk also slacken recruitment standards and begins the process of conscription in the name of preparing to defend the nation from the impending attempts at invasion from the United States.

While Hawk manages domestic affairs, Vice President Cruz begins work on international ones. Sending diplomatic messages in hopes of garnering aid and support from around the world. Namely, making requests for aid and public support for Mexico, The United Kingdom, France, Germany, Japan, China, and Russia.

The Constitutional Confederation of States forms a simple doctrine. The federal government exists for three purposes only. To mediate conflicts between states, to be the point of contact with other nations, and to organize a national defense. Every other bit of power in the territory is delegated to the States to decide for themselves. And each state is different. Florida, becomes oligarchic rather quickly, for instance. The industry of the state leveraged its power over the unstable area the moment the opportunity arose. Florida Governor Paul Smith is elected Chief Executor of the CCS, and his first and only action so far in this role, is offering Louisiana a place in the new nation.

The Union of American States sets forth with a clear and concise charter. The goal is not by any means to stay separate from the United States of America, but to reform the imperfect union and reintegrate into a stronger nation that can propel forward into another century of prosperity. Carlita Hyralez, still opting to use the title of Governor, began working on these reforms in detail with the Governors of the other states that joined the Union. They establish the new dollar with a return to the gold standard backing. They introduce strict regulations on news media to prevent oligarchic control in the future, by making all news media register as non profits as well as making it unlawful for non profits to be owned by anyone who also owns a for profit business. Banning the practice of outsourcing of labor to foreign nations by corporations that are based in the United States. And further, banning political parties, to prevent future partisan battles and to return to the ideals of George Washington.

Just UN things...

After the round of voting regarding the situation of Macau and Hong Kong, the Chinese Soviet Republic was quick to announce their gratitude towards the nations that voted "Yay" and equally quick to disparage the nations that voted "Nay". It was quite a rant as the Chinese representative spoke of the dissenting nations as "dogmatic neo-imperialists" seeking to prop up an "empire whose sun has set." Nothing too usual given that this was the 60th time at this point for the CSR to complain about Hong Kong and Macau, but thankfully, it seems the question would likely see a definite conclusion once the 2nd round of voting was to start.

As for the Mongolian Question, it was predictable for China to vote "nay" on handing over Inner Mongolia under Mongolia rule. Considering that Nanjing has yet to recognize the sovereignty of Mongolia for the last 80 years, the subtle threat of immediate military intervention if Mongolia so much seizes a single inch of the region loomed over the heads of the UN Assembly like Damocles Sword. "For the nations that want peace in East Asia, a unified China is the way." - Zhang Jun, CSR representative, reported said speaking to the Assembly.

Speaking of peace in East Asia, the CSR lambasted over the allegations of the drone attacks in Taiwan, a complete fit as both Japan and China devolve into a shouting match on the floor. While Japan certainly tried to "demonstrate" their evidence, the CSR was all too quick to point out that their findings were from Japanese Intelligence, not the UN investigation and as such susceptible to internal bias and manipulation. Zhang Jun pointed to the Marco Polo Incident of 1937, the spark that started the 2nd Sino-Japanese War, as evidence of the Perfidious Nippon and its reckless militarism. That entire conflict was revealed to be caused by a Japanese Private going to the bathroom without notifying his superiors, who then used his disappearance to provoke the Chinese garrison even after said private has returned unharmed. The rest is history, never mind the Nanjing Massacre and the alleged Unit 731. "The 'reputable' Japanese Intelligence has spent more time covering up Japanese war crimes than investigating them." The CSR representative harshly condemned his Japanese counterpart. "At least the Germans and the Italians purged their society of fascists. How's that for integrity?"

If Japan was expecting to catch the Chinese Soviet Republic by surprise, then they were truly naive or living in 1937. The Soviet military was not idle since the drone strikes against the two destroyers and with the help of an extensive missile defense system, were quick to notice the incoming barrage and even quicker to activate. The attempted cyberattack barely made a dent in China's famed "Great Firewall", preventing any serious disruption. Everything from the S-300 to the HQ series was used to intercept Japan's missiles with some missile destroyers equipped with naval anti-missile defenses detached from the Shanghai fleet to be closer toward the targets. Even the Soviet Airforce joined in, sending out interceptor jets equipped with anti-missile flares to distract and hopefully divert the Japanese SAMs and AAMs. Once the bombers were detected flying towards China's prized carriers, fighter jets and even the brand new fifth-generation stealth fighter were launched to intercept the bomber squadrons. Back up by ground-based AA systems and the missile destroyers detaching from the fleet to assist from the sea, the Kai bombers were flying figuratively into a swarm of angry hornets that is China's SAMs and AAMs.

As for the missile barrage, the critical mass of the attack ensured that only 20% managed to hit their mark, however, the damage was dispersed rather than concentrated. The four carriers under construction were struck a dozen times but did not get destroyed completely. In turn, the two active carriers got hit twice with some damage. Elsewhere, while the damage was considerable, it was nothing devastating. Repairs will finish within a couple of weeks or a couple of months concerning the industries and bases hit. Yet, deaths were inevitable as 600 civilians and 400 military personnel were killed by the missile strikes. An estimation listed a hundred or so wounded, bring the total casualties between 1,100 to 1,300 people.

But the internal reaction of the Nanjing government was immediate. While the military literally saw the attack coming from the horizon, the Soviet bureaucrats were shocked by the surprise war being declared upon China. As is tradition, the Japanese declaration of war came after the missile assault on Shanghai, citing the supposed terrorist attack against Taiwan as a casus belli. General Secretary Xi Jinping was noticeably quiet when footage of the attack came in, deep in his own thoughts as his underlings were too uneasy to approach him. But the case was clear.

Within the next hour, the Soviet leader Xi Jinping made a public announcement.

In the response to the Japanese reckless military endeavor to sink the Chinese Soviet Fleet in Shanghai, the Chinese Soviet Republic must face the reality that we have a neighbor unwilling to heed to reason and abandon its imperialist ambitions. From this day forward, the CSR declares war on Japan and all of its puppet nations: Manchukuo and the false nation that is the Reorganized Republic of China. No more shall this be an era of luxury but of blood and steel. As of right now, I call upon the people of China to rising and resist Imperial Japan once more, just as our ancestors have done 75 years ago. I declare a state of total war to resist the foreign invaders and secure the future of China once and for all. In the name of Sun Yet-sen, let us endure this violence and emerge from this war unified and stronger than before.

To transition into War Communism, as theorized by Leon Trotsky and Mao Zedong, was no small sacrifice. With Japan trying to strangle the country with its navy, tightening the belts and introducing rationing was a necessary evil to ensure a rapid restructuring of China's economy. Cut off from Europe, the Americas, and Africa, the world's factory was given a new priority to build as much war material as much as possible as fast as possible. No doubt the entire world will feel a tremendous strain with the absence of Chinese goods, especially with their investments in the Free Economic Zones nationalized for the war effort, no doubt deepening the economic wounds of consumer-based economies. Given that the US is currently experiencing a civil war, they probably won't complain that much.

It would take weeks to fully mobilize the entire Soviet Army but the divisions were already maneuvering to the designated defense lines concerning the coastline, Tsingtao, East Hebei, and Hainan. Only the divisions at full strength were sent to man the lines against the RRC and reinforced by the Soviet Gendarmerie. Tsingtao and the RRC were recognized to be the first targets of a Soviet offensive as tanks and planes were being called up for action. The city itself was to be surrounded by two army corps and snuffed out through the sheer weight of numbers and firepower of the Chinese Soviet Army and Airforce while the RRC were to be engaged by four army groups backed up two Gendarmerie armies.

On the home front, Nanjing organized a new agency to better coordinate rationing and wartime policies. Separate from the Soviet Gendarmerie, the Vanguardists, as they were called, were made up of members as young as 14 to as old as 60 in order to unite the civilian population for the war effort. While the young men and women were enlisting for the military, the children and elders began training to fill their voids in society, take up factory work or agriculture. Home gardens started being promoted nationwide for self-sufficiency and to reduce the dependency on foreign food imports. While censorship was already heavy pre-war, it becomes omnipresent as everything was to contribute to the war effort and maintain morale.

Given that the situation eerily mimics 1937, Nanjing decided to activate the abandoned Burma Road built by Sino-British laborers. A 2 billion dollar bill was issued to start expanding and upgrading the Burma Road in order to increase food imports from Myanmar and Siam, thus bypassing the Japanese blockade somewhat. In an effort to stave off immediate starvation, Xi Jinping contacted the governments of Naypyitaw and Bangkok offering to send Chinese engineers to upgrade the agriculture sector of Myanmar and Siam.

The Female Pope Controversy. A touchy subject that many government officials within the Holy See prefer to avoid, but something has to be done. A heated debate is ongoing between Pope Francis and government officials to decide whether or not women should take the position of pope. The Holy See hasn't had a female pope since the time of Pope Joan during the Middle Ages. However, the exception being that her existence was regarded as legendary by modern scholars. Francis recently made a decree this month following the acceptance of women taking in the pope's role, but others find the idea taboo, delaying the process.

So far, Francis maintains the traditional views of the Church regarding abortion, clerical celibacy, and the ordination of women but has initiated a dialogue on the possibility of deaconesses and has made women full members of dicasteries in the Roman Curia. Also, he maintains that the Church should be more open and welcoming for members of the LGBT community and favors legal recognition of same-sex couples. The list goes on despite making good changes for the Holy See. Besides these rights and reforms, women haven't gotten the chance to take on the pope's role due to religious matters.

On the other hand, Francis has faced criticism from theological conservatives on many questions, including his promotion of ecumenism and admitting civilly divorced and remarried Catholics to communion with the publication of Amoris Laetitia. Besides criticisms surrounding him, Francis is striving for a better society within his city-state. To make the decree official, the Pontifical Commission must submit a proposal based on Pope Francis's statement and await him to sign it.

But as of right now, the debate is still going on, and Francis is yet to finally sign the proposal being given to by the Pontifical Commission. They agreed to make a proposal and await his decision. It will be a historical moment for Vatican City. The signing will occur by next month.

Already some information about the strikes were coming in. Most missiles were still in the air, but several hits had been registered on radar. It was then that a sailor rushed into the room to see Admiral Yoshimura, sitting in his flagship, the Akagi.

The sailor bowed as he approached. "Sir, we have received reports from Imperial High Command. The planes we were tracking earlier on radar, we believe they have downed five of our bombers for six of theirs. For that reason, we have received authorization to begin the next phase of our attack."

Yoshimura stroked his chin as he stood above the war map alongside several members of his staff. He nodded. "We have clearly lost the element of surprise in this battle. What were the results of our strike?"

An intelligence officer, Captain Ishikawa bowed as he spoke. "Sir, all of our objectives are believed to have been hit. Intelligence is still coming in, but it has been suggested from radio intercepts and radar that out strike on their fleet was also successful."

Yoshimura dismissed the man with a wave of his hand. "Good work. Inform me when the full report is in. With that information, it is clear that there is no point in mounting a secondary strike with aircraft. It risks further casualties that are unnecessary. We came for the carriers, and by your reports that action is done. By the end of the week, we will have encircled the Soviet navy and will slaughter their forces one by one. Inform ground commanders in Taiwan and the Ryukyu to commence missile bombardment. Our fleet can fire some of its last Tomahawks before they should finish reloading of their tubes with anti-air missiles as well. I expect the Soviets, in their cowardice to keep their fleet in port for now, but stay cautious."

When 20 minutes later Yoshimura was informed of the the Chinese declaration of war, Yoshimura said nothing, having expected such. It only cemented in the resolve to carry out what would come shortly.

At exactly 6:10 AM, the second phase of the attack was launched. From five missile silos in Taiwan, located in the more mountainous and remote parts of the province, 20 conventionally armed Type 15 Masatake medium range ballistic missiles, notably similar yet more modern than the Perishing II, we launched from each. From Okinawa and Ishigaki silos, another 20 Type 15 Masatake missiles were fired from each of the two. From the fleet, only 30 Tomahawk missiles were fired.

In total, now 140 medium range ballistic missiles and 30 cruise missiles raced towards their targets.

Among these was the Changsha Air Base and nearby Changsha Aircraft Factory in the Soviet Southern Theater Command, allegedly basing the 54 Air Brigade. Targeted by 40 ballistic missiles, it was presumed that due to the increased difficulty to shoot down the missiles, and the fact a large scale cruise missile attack had just occurred, forcing the Soviets to take the time to reload and ready different systems, would allow for greater success. A key hope to avoid civilian casualties was that even at 6 AM the plant would be less occupied, preventing a large mass of civilian casualties.

The next target was Baishiyi Air Base in both the Soviet Western and Southern Commands. Said to house the 98th and 99th Air Brigades, this base was targeted by 40 ballistic missiles as well as 10 cruise missiles.

The other target was in Pudong with its nearby COMAC factories, targeted with 20 ballistic missiles. The remaining 40 ballistic missiles streaked towards Yanliang Air Base, a location of one of the Soviet HQs, and the nearby Xian Aircraft Corporation's factories.

20 cruise missiles headed towards a location in Shanghai which had been pin-pointed as a Soviet SAM location, making it a prime target.

The second wave of attack had just begun.

With word from Tokyo, after over two hours of anxious waiting, firing commenced. Concerned with counter-battery strikes, the Chinese commanders had decided against using regular artillery, rather deploying rocket artillery for a quick barrage. The prime choice was the Type 89 Multiple Rocket Launcher, a copy of the BM-21 Grad. With four systems set up and ready to fire at Tianjin Binhai International Airport just a few miles away, the barrage commenced. Within around 20 seconds, 160 rockets had filled the air, and crews scrambled to pack up their systems. Done in three minutes, the trucks raced away back to cover, in a hit-and-run attack; the first of many to come.

Aimed at disabling the facilities to prevent the Soviets from using it as a base in future campaigns against the enclave, if the strategic attack proved successful, it could have major implications of slowing down any Soviet attack.

Several officers were chuckling in the war room, having read the Soviet declaration of war as Prime Minister Tojo entered. A captain had cried out, "Is this a real declaration of war? This is a joke. It is just a few lines of a simple address. Is there a real nation for us to even declare war on? "

There was silence when the Prime Minister was noticed as Field Marshal Yamazaki, alongside with the rest of the commanding General Staff bowed to Prime Minister Tojo. Tojo bowed in return and then got straight to business, "What are the casualties from the first strike?"

"Sir, from our side, as I am sure you already know, we lost five of our Nakajima G10N Kai bombers for 25 presumed dead." said Kenpeitai commander, Major General Hidekatsu Tojo. "From our intelligence, we believe to have killed roughly 400 enemy combatants and 600 or so enemy civilian contractors. From satellite imaging, we believe significant damage was dealt by our strike. We have damaged both of the Soviet carriers, which will put them out of action for enough time for us to gain absolute naval supremacy. In addition, all four of their carriers that are under construction were hit. We believe we sunk one of their Type 52 destroyers, as well as 5 We have downed 6 enemy fighters, believed to be of the J-11 variant. We also believe to have destroyed 3 J-10 fighters, 2 J-7s, and 2 Xian H-6K bombers on the ground, as well as damaging 2 J-10s and 5 J-7s."

The Prime Minister nodded. "The strike did its job. Now that we have put their two carriers out of action, we must capitalize on this quickly."

"Yes sir, the Navy as we speak is launching Operation Shushukuki." was Marshal Admiral Yamaguchi's quick reply. "Already we have our P-3C Orions and P-1s patrolling over our islands in the South China Sea, near the Ryukyu, and Taiwan, as well as conducting mining operations. The islands make the perfect choke points to stop Soviet submarines. China, as you know, is surrounded by shallow water. This means when their subs near these islands, they will have to surface. They cannot immediately dive down to deeper water. Thus, in this area they are vulnerable. With our own ships and submarines lying in wait two things will happen. Either the Soviet subs will be destroyed, or they will be trapped. Using our choke points, we will trap in the Soviet navy, and completely blockade them."

"Excellent. Keep me informed on the conflict. I have a meeting with His Holiness before we declare war." Prime Minister Tojo stood after the quick meeting and proceeded out of the room to meet with the Emperor before he was expected to address the nation at 8, formally declaring war on the Soviet Chinese Republic.

24 Mitsubishi SH-60K helicopters hovered over the waters surrounding Jeju, Tsushima, and the stretch between Amami and Kyushu, conducting anti-submarine warfare patrols. They had been dispatched from various bases just an hour ago to lock down the seas of Soviet submarine incursion. Normally the job would be given to the Lockheed P-3C Orions and Kawasaki P-1s, yet due to the need for the faster planes to undertake more dangerous missions in the South China Sea and Taiwan regions, the Imperial Navy had the more vulnerable helicopters filling this role, confident that the Soviet planes would never venture so far into Japanese territory. Concerned with the possibility of attack however, 8 Northrop Grumman E-2 Hawkeye AWAC aircraft flew over the waters surrounding Japan. Four were concentrated in the South, with two flying over the Tokyo region, and another two up north. Equipped with onboard radar, these would serve on the front line of defense, directing fire to any threats, ranging from hostile missiles, aircraft, or ships.

Around the South China Sea region, Japanese submarines were positioning themselves near the choke points, ready to engage any passing Soviet submarines. With Imperial Coast Guard and Republic of China Navy assets in the region, any Soviet shipping would be stopped. Orders from Tokyo mandated all Soviet ships be searched. If they carried anything that was considered to be beneficial to the war effort, they were to be seized. If they did not comply, they would be sunk. Meanwhile, from ROCN ships and P-3C planes, anti-submarine mines were being laid and mapped out in the choke points.

Overhead in the skies of the South China Sea region, 8 P-1s and 16 P-3Cs, each escorted by a two F-15Js, flew overhead, conducting patrols. Along with them was a single
Boeing E-767 AWAC aircraft. Due to its faster speeds than the E-2 and more modern capabilities, these had been selected to carry out operations in the more hostile territory. A prized asset, the aircraft was under escort by four Imperial Air Force F-35As, while other air assets sat ready on island bases in the South China Sea, Hainan, and Taiwan to provide support.

Around the waters of Taiwan and the Ryukyu, two E-767 AWACs provided radar coverage while protected, each escorted by four F-35As. With the Kido Buntai in the region, it was important that Japanese surface assets remained completely protected. Above, another 10 P-1s and 20 P-3Cs conducted patrols, each under escort by either two Mitsubishi F-2s or F-15Js. Six groups of two F-15Js were conducting patrols over the fleet and Taiwan as the conflict entered a momentary lull.

In Tsingtao and Hainan, preparations continued to ready for attack. Around the north eastern and southern waters of Hainan, small speed boats had been dispatched, each dropping off small amounts of naval mines into the waterways to disrupt Soviet shipping and fleet activities.

At home, Tokko and Kenpeitai agents were making a string of secretive arrests, all targeting Soviet nationals living in Japan, as well as Chinese known to have Soviet ties. These people would be detained for the entirety of the conflict. Once arrested, they would be given a simple survey:

- Do you completely and forever renounce your Soviet citizenship?
- Are you willing to serve in the Imperial Armed Forces to protect our glorious Empire?

In many ways similar to the survey given to Japanese Americans by the American government during World War Two, any 'no' answers would mean imprisonment in a work camp. Those who answered 'yes' would be also sent to a camp, but provided with better treatment. If they were suspected of actually having Soviet military or intelligence ties, they would be promptly executed.

War had begun, and same with peace, all sense of mercy had disappeared.

Defense Policy Update Due to Hostilities Initiated by the Shina Incident

Effective immediately, for the sake of deescalation and peace, the Imperial Japanese Armed Forces is to formally adopt a 'No First Use' policy on its nuclear weapons stockpile. The policy, proposed by Our wise and divine leader, His Holiness the Emperor, ensures Our Empire's Armed Forces will not deploy nuclear or radiological weapons unless a nuclear attack is mounted on Our Empire or Our honorable allies.

This order does not mean Our Empire is not prepared to defend itself. Operation ZAPAD

Operation Zapad truly began when Russian air force radar jamming planes took off at 0400. Before dawn. And began a complex series of jamming and interference. Minutes later sixty cruise missiles fired from the Belarusian and neighboring Russian territories of the Empire fired. Targeting the military-industrial plants in Kharkov, and the Malyshev factory complex, the other fifty missiles were aimed at satellite imaged Ukrainian strongpoints along the Donbas front. Fitted with 450kg warheads the Kh-55SMs would be able to achieve supersonic speeds below Ukrainian radar systems before detonating with an error margin of 15 meters.

Out at sea the few Ukrainian Neptune missiles launched were intercepted by interdiction missiles from the Russian vessels or patrolling Su-33's. While in response the Russian ships, also able to see the Ukrainian ships retreating away, fired a barrage of eight Kalibr missiles in response. While a further seventy were launched at land targets in the Ukrainian interior. Aiming for depots, logistic dumps, assembly areas, and Ukrainian bases.

In concert, the Russian Airforce fired an additionally thirty Kalibr's from four Tu-95s. The air launched missiles were targeting Ukrainian border force strongpoints. At the same time Orlan-10 UAVs, twenty-four in total, went across the Ukrainian border to mark targets of interest for Russian air and artillery positions.

At 4:30 in the morning the Russian Airforce began to conduct SEAD missions. Night equipped Su-34s, Su-24s, and Su-25s. 60 birds in total broken up into twenty flights of three. Attacked Ukrainian forces in an attempt to destroy AA and SAM sites. Coming in low across the border from Belarus to the Sea of Azov. Each flight operating more than a hundred kilometers from each other. Searching for SAM and AA guns with night vision, thermal, and radar cross sections cross referenced with day and night satellite images. Moved in to fire their missiles at targets further afield. Aiming for positions over sixty kilometers behind the border.

Closer to the border, six flights of four Mi-24's flew across the border. Heavily armed with HEAT and Anti-tank S-5Kor missiles. The Russian version of the Hellfire. The birds went into action around Kharkov, Kovel, Chernihiv, and Korosten, Donetsk, and Luhansk. Targeting SAM, AA, and Tank/AFV positions.

Russian artillery from the 50th Separate Artillery Regiment 'Poltavskaya' went active with a mass series of strikes for entire grid boxes to the approaches to Korosten. Cratering roads, and landing on expected Ukrainian positions. Meanwhile at the Donbas Russian artillery in Russian territory fired a sustained bombardment onto Ukrainian lines. Except to the North-west of Donetsk and Luhansk. Here, the Battalion Combat Groups of 1st Shock Army moved into position and struck at 0600 in the morning. Intending to punch through and envelop the Ukrainian forces in front of them.

The Russian main air campaign began at 0630 in concert with all assigned units to the first phase of Zapad assaulting their way across the border. The Russian Air force primarily acting as deterrent for the Ukrainian air force while hunting for isolated Ukrainian units that could be picked off in the wake of this multi-pronged Russian assault. The Ukrainians themselves would find themselves outnumbered in just about every weapon category by at least 3-to-1 and faced with multiple points of attack. The Russian forces would fan out once breaches had been made to pursue Deep Battle Doctrine. The encirclement and elimination of Ukrainian forces before moving on.

To the East of Mariupol the mass of 8th Army struck the Ukrainian lines in full forces. Intending to cut off and surround the city while out at sea. The 810th Naval Infantry moved its troops across from Yelysk into the bay. Intending to land via amphibious assault to storm the city from the sea while Russian Ground Forces moved in from the East via land. Further South-west the 382nd Naval Infantry Battalion would land at Berdyansk to secure it and form a beach head for follow on Russian forces to land and move into the Ukrainian interior.

The Tsarina arrived for the state dinner with King Pavlos and his family around noon, local time, aboard her private Ilyushin Il-96-300PU. The extensively modified IL-96 allowed for all the functions of her office to be carried out when aboard along with having an extensive protection and sensor suite. Along with a direct interface command and control line with the rest of the Russian military including a direct encrypted link to the Stavka in Moscow. The plane itself was escorted by six Su-57's and two Su-35's. Providing a proverbial air show for Greek citizens far below watching all nine aircraft approach their destination landing terminals. The eight Russian war planes remaining airborne until the Empress' plane was taxied and in position to allow disembarkation. At which point the Russian planes would go down two at a time to land and prep for their eventual departure when the Tsarina herself would leave.

Ground security had already arrived well before the Empress was even in the air. Just like the Russian warplanes the Greek security services attending to King Pavlos would have closely communicated their own arrival. Coming in the form of an advance company of Imperial Guardsmen with full combat kit who secured the landing zone. Now, this might have seemed excessive to some. But with Russia technically at war and having to a take circuitous route around the warzone. Along with additional dangers of being at war could entail. After a 2 week voyage from the Portsmouth Royal Navy Base, the Queen Elizabeth Class Carrier Prince of Wales and 4 Guided Missile cruisers, 8 guided missile destroyers,9 ASW Frigates,5 Trafalgar Class SSNs and 6 UnRep ships arrive in the South China Sea with orders to protect all shipping to and from Hong Kong from the naval forces of the CSR. If any civilian ship is hindered while heading to or from Hong Kong by CSR warships, the group is to warn off said ships and force them to leave.

We would like to send you an invitation to station troops in Hong Kong as MI6 has determined the Soviets will do anything to get Hong Kong back. While we do not wish for war to break out between Soviet and British forces, British Armed Forces will defend Hong Kong down to the last man and woman. We would also like to begin basing British troops in Japanese territory as a symbol of our newly forged alliance.

Swakopmund had come to life by morning, or rather, it had pushed itself out of bed and was groggily heading downstairs for some orange juice while wiping its eyes. Unlike most African cities, it was relatively unimportant in the grand scheme of things: being dwarfed by the nation’s largest city, Windhoek - which lay several hundred miles to the east. Still though, it’s charm was apparent... to its citizenry anyway! Foreigners, and their newspapers didn’t really get it, so to speak. Or as the New York Times put it - it had the “dislocating feel of a Baltic Sea resort set in the Tropics.” While Windhoek might have been more populous - and more understanding for confused foreign newspapers to comprehend, it lacked one of thing that Swakopmund had: the seat of government. In fact, located here is the national legislature, Prime Minister’s residence and everything else needed to run a country.

Conveniently around that time, the Prime Minister’s residence was becoming rather busy: with aides, civil servants and cabinet ministers aplenty pouring in and - in some cases - out of there st a frenetic pace. The situation as it stood was dire, not necessarily on the home-front however, but globally: Russia and Ukraine were at loggerheads, The Chinese Soviet Republic and Empire of Japan were at war and the US was appearing to be fragmenting rapidly.

For once, the Free State felt like one of the rosier options for a person seeking a quiet life. Sure, there was a conflict raging there too: but aside from the checkpoints on the nation’s main highways, fortified police stations and joint police-army patrols in rural areas, it was hardly noticeable. Especially so in the larger towns and cities. Nevertheless, that peace - however fragile, was only guaranteed by strong security forces: these being the only deterrents against an invasion by numerous surrounding countries. Therefore, the Foreign Ministry had been set to work a week earlier on maintaining this advantage.

How? Japan.

Even on their current war-footing, the Japanese would surely welcome an African ally - and a presence on the continent too.

To the relevant departments concerned within the Imperial Japanese Government,

Dark times and unsure periods are surely ahead - for all nations, both big - like Japan and it’s empire, and small - like ours. Our survival during this time is something which we must carefully prepare for, and for that, we must work with other nations to ensure it. Therefore, the Foreign Ministry of The Free State of South-West Africa/Namibia would like to officially enter talks with the Japanese Government regarding both training and arming of our Defence Forces and police. The Ministry for State Security has already drawn up what the South-West African/Namibian Government is willing to offer, and expects to receive in return for it.

Our Government would like to request:

1.) 300,000 Howa Type 89 rifles
2.) 25,000 Howa Type 20 rifles
3.) 30,000 Sumitomi MINIMI machine guns
3.) 120,000 sets of bullet-resistant vests, Kevlar helmets, night-vision goggles, load-bearing equipment and encrypted radios - along with the building of the necessary infrastructure locally, to allow the radios to function properly.
4.) 10,000 Howa 84RR recoilless rifles
5.) 800 110mm LAM disposable rocket launchers
6.) Army advisors who’ll assist in the training of the Free State’s Land Defence Force - both volunteers and conscripts on how to use this equipment, and the necessary tactics made for it.
7.) Instructors from the National Police Agency - who’ll train South-West African police officers in police-work and offensive/defensive tactics.
8.) $950 million in economic aid - primarily distributed through irrigation, energy and other projects.

In return - our Government can offer the following:

1.) 10% of all diamonds mined within South-West African territory while the agreement is active
2.) A permanent military presence for the Empire of Japan within South-West Africa, with no limit on type of personnel or armament that can be placed within the national borders. This also extends to the waters of the state, with South-West African territory being considered a permanent safe harbour for Japanese-flagged vessels.
3.) The construction of three military bases for Japanese military needs - with one at Windhoek - the state’s largest city, one at Karasburg - in the extreme south of the country and finally, one at Gobabis - in the east of the country, in Omaheke Province.
4.) The construction of a military port and airstrip on the coast to assist in the facilitation of the second offer made by our Government.
5.) The creation of an ‘Office of Culture’ - which aims to promote Japanese Language, culture and arts through the state, with mandatory education provided to all South-West African youth: to facilitate a mutual understanding between our countries. Of course, Japan would have to provide the teachers and instructors for this, however our Government will commit to funding the arrangement in its entirety.
6.) Permission for the allies of the Empire of Japan to station troops and equipment within South-West Africa in addition to Japan itself: however, this will need to account for each allied nation’s own historical and present relationship with the Free State or South-West Africa beforehand.

We hope these terms are acceptable to the Japanese Government, and are readily agreed upon.

Within a few hours, this message would be sent off to Tokyo, in the hope that the terms within would be accepted - that remained to be seen: especially given the deteriorating security situation in the Far East at the time of it being written.

Now, onwards to other more minor matters - ah, it’s good to be irrelevant.
