++ Skills:
Being a journalist in 2086 requires a lot of guts and a lot of daring, plus a little bit of intuition thrown in for good measure. Markus has these, but also more practical skills~ a former life on the street has taught him how to talk to the locals, how to pick locks, how to steal cars, and various other common street tricks. He can also blend in pretty well to any given social environment; using quick wit, charm, intelligence and charisma to bluff his way past street toughs and corporate managers. With a smile, he'll con his way right into a fancy party and leave with all the dirty secrets contained within to be published the next day.

++ Weaknesses:
But on the downside, the guy can't fight worth a damn. His only means of self-defense is a pistol, and even then, he's still never been able to shoot straight with the damned thing. Also, his womanizing attributes often leave him as the target behind several vengeful lovers that would love to have his body blasted into space. And if those two things that don't get him killed, his oversized ego just might makes him say the wrong thing that earns Markus a bullet to the back if the head.

++ Personality:
Alrighty, so, how best to describe the man of the hour? Not that hard, really. Markus tends to be rather confident in himself and the stories he's chasing-- it's easy to be that way when you're often the man who ferrets out other people's dirty laundry. He's also something of a womanizer, although it's more of a spur-of-the moment kind of hookup than any concentrated effort to grab woman to take to bed. There's also the issue of, again, his ego-- all the success he's had so far from surviving this long and building a fun career as a journalist has gotten to his head a bit. Markus hates ridiculed by those he sees below himself, and that means the Politco making a joke at Markus's expense is about to get a bloody nose-- and Markus will spend the next 3 hours dodging bullets for his troubles.

Markus also has a small dark side that goes back to his first time as a journalist-- he's not above 'making' his own news if it will get him better ratings, fame, and better pay

++ Biography:
Nothing much to write home about concerning the life and times of one Markus James Akron. Guy never really even knew his parents, messed up as that sounds. Markus ended up being raised as a ward of the state while living in the U.S. It was there that he learned a lot of the street skills that would keep him alive and employed during the next few years. He also made friends with a lot of shady characters at this time that taught him a crude version of 'social engineering', the art of manipulating people for your own aims. There was also school, which Markus found more enjoyable than sitting in his bed all day, so he applied himself to keep his grades up so they wouldn't kick him out like most of the others in his orphanage.

At the age of 18, he was basically kicked out on his ass and told to go figure out how this adult thing works. Luckily, he fared better than most-- using his savings, Markus bought a SmartLink and started looking for jobs. At first, he interned with a small, local news network that basically made him a glorified servant. Since Markus was rather used to this treatment, he went with it, slowly working his way up the ranks until a journalist position opened up. It was something of a competition, because there were five people besides himself that were fighting for the slot, and the person that managed to report on the best-rated story would get the job. Markus won with the following headline: "Four Killed In Freak Car Accident"

After that, it was a few short assignments tracking the local buzz before he was snapped up by the NAN. His first news story, dealing with the assassination of an American Politico, ended up being a major chase across the nation as Markus uncovered the facts that revealed that the Politico had faked his own death to avoid being targeted by various crime organizations due to the politician's outstanding debts. This, of course, led to the man in question ending up with a .50 caliber brain hemorrhage, but it made Markus get some spectacular ratings and a few small 'thank yous' in the form of anonymous credit transfers. Now he has the approval to chase any story that he wants, funded by the NAN budget and some private funds if need be.
