Mankind Sundered
Countless trillions lay dead. Billions more lost to the Warp. The Imperium of Man - once thought undefeatable - stand broken and sundered. Its greatest guardians turned traitor. Its Emperor mortally wounded and entombed on a Golden Throne.
The Horus Heresy has come and gone. Though defeated, Horus shattered any dreams the Great Crusade planted in mankind's mind. The thought of it alone, of the Warmaster himself turning to the worship of Dark Gods, sent millions into despair. Few were prepared for half the Primarchs themselves to follow him. None were prepared for Horus to lay low the Emperor himself.
Mankind faced its greatest struggle in history. It emerged victorious, but it was a pyrrhic victory. None know where the Imperium should move now. Terra itself is safe, as are many other sectors. Many others, however, are filled with Chaos Space Marines and heretical soldiers. Xeno hordes stand, their poisoned fangs ready, to move into the Imperium's borders. Governors and laypeople both no longer believe the Imperium's invincibility. The Solar Auxilia and Adeptus Astartes lay devastated, with fully half their numbers having turned traitor. The Imperial Navy fares little better.
The problems made by superhumans shall be solved by mortal men. The High Lords of Terra, assembled under emergency orders in the Emperor's last moments, must set aside their differences to shepard mankind in the Emperor's absence. Should they fail, mankind shall become prey to chaos worshippers, xeno slavers, and potentially much worse beyond the stars. . .
Welcome to Mankind Sundered. In this RP, players will have the opportunity to play one or both of two categories of characters. They are as follows:
The High Lords of Terra: The governing body of the Imperium of Man. It is their resolute leadership that keeps mankind from falling to pieces.
With both the Emperor of Mankind and Malcador the Sigilite eliminated, there remained few candidates for the burden of leadership. The Emperor's last breaths, according to legend, was to cobble together the Senatorum Imperialis - the High Lords of Terra. It is through there leadership mankind shall survive or die.
In the immediate aftermath of the Horus Heresy, the Lords of Terra are comprised of the following members:
- The Master of the Adeptus Administratum
- The Inquisatorial Representative
- The Fabricator-General of the Adeptus Mechanicus
- The Grand Provost Marshal of the Adeptus Arbites
- The Paternoval Envoy of the Navigators
- The Master of the Adeptus Astronomica
- The Grand Master of the Officio Assassinorum
- The Master of the Adeptus Astra Telepathica
- The Lord-Commander Militant of the Astra Militarum
- The Lord high Admiral of the Imperial Navy
- The Captian-General of the Adeptus Custodes
Each office can only be played by one player at a time.
The Lords of Terra are subject to change; 40k aficionados may recognize a distinct lack of the Adeptus Ministorum. That is because, while widespread, the Imperial Creed has not become official law yet.
Every "turn," players in this group will have the opportunity to allocate a certain amount to each budgetary item. The budgetary items are as follows:
- Crusades: Whether conquering new worlds, or re-conquering old ones, crusades are focused on taking new systems and new worlds. They can range from minor actions in remote outposts to extreme acts requiring the marshaling of the entire Imperium's might.
- Security: Purging the Imperium of cults, xeno-infestation, and general treasonous elements.
- Research: Delving into worlds in search of STCs and reverse-engineerable technology.
- Colonization: Sending settlers onto untamed worlds, and the exploration that this entails.
- Production: The development of forge worlds and productive elements of hive worlds.
- Raw Production: The development of agri-worlds, death worlds, mining worlds, and other less populated outposts that provide the raw materials of Imperial production.
- Astra Militarum: The conscription, training, and marshaling of the Imperium's largest military land force.
- Imperial Navy: The construction of new ships, retrofitting of old ships, recovery of space hulks, and conscription of their crews.
- Adeptus Astartes: Although Space Marines have their own tithes, the Imperium can allocate them, or specific chapters, extra resources as deemed appropriate.
In addition to turns, the Imperium will face a crisis at random intervals. These can be anything - black crusades, giant WAAGHS, etc.
In these crises, players have to the opportunity to play as crisis characters. This can be Imperial - Space Marines, Guardsman, etc. - or enemies of the Imperium. The quality of a player's posting in the categories can have an impact on the conclusion of a crisis.
My role OP will be:
1) Create, maintain, and determine the conclusion of a crisis
2) Present issues to the Lords of Terra
3) Accept player application
4) Fill in for vacant position or absent players/
