The Reformation: Recovering from the Cataclysm.

The Setting:
It was the middle of the 20th century, and it was a century that was predicted to bring great change to the world. In the first twenty years of the 100 years, the world suffered a war never seen before in human history... Millions died, great Empires fell, and the world underwent major change.
It was obvious that, from the get - go, the world would not learn from the war. Tensions boiled once more as nations found reasons to pick fights with one another, and eventually, the game would be up. The Third Reich would invade the neutral nation of Poland, forcing the second Allied front, involving the United Kingdom and France to join in against Germany.
This would boil over to involve the whole world. The Japanese Empire would fight against a powerful United States of America in the East, and slaughter thousands in China.

But then, when the war reached it's peak... Everything stopped. The Gunfire ceased as nations crumbled without any perceived reason. The remaining soldiers on their fronts would return to their 'Countries', only to find anarchy.
It seemed like the world was going through some sort of reset, as every single nation ceased to exist, though the people still stood.
Now, it is the year that marks the new millennium, 2000 A.D. The world has recovered, if partly, nations, old and new would reform to rule their respective regions. Can these nations learn from the old world and their mistakes, and use this fresh start to bring a great era of peace? Or is humanity forever burdened to keep making the same mistakes that they had before...

...And would the reason for the major event of the 1940's, being referred to as the Cataclysm by many be discovered? Time will tell...

Welcome all to 'The Reformation: Recovering from the Cataclysm' ! This is a soft reboot of sorts from the old 'A new world, A new age' topic, an old Roleplay of which this is directly inspired from. Note that this is the IC thread, meaning that this is where you roleplay your nation, and everything that comes with that.
Let me lay out a few guidelines here real quick, stuff that you will not be punished for if you do not heed them, but should be noted and taken into consideration. Here goes:
- Firstly, and this is something I encountered in the old RP, if you wish to keep a dispatch a secret from the rest of the roleplayers, or at the very least from their in character RP, please state that it is a secret communication, move or other action in your post. This is to avoid ambiguity of whether a post should only be regarded as IC for one or a select few nations, or if the whole world (Every Roleplayer) can react to it in character.
- If possible, when conquering a territory that is not controlled by any nation, please still describe the process. This is important, in the RP people still exist across the world, however only us players have actually formed their own civilisations, so keep in mind that resistance from locals, and assimilating them into your nation should be kept in consideration.
Alright, two points. Anyways, moving on...

Rules and Guidelines (This is where the map from above comes into play)

The limit on the technology level for your civilisation is COLD WAR technology.
Due to the Cataclysm, civilisation hadn't developed much, and new technologies past the stuff that was available during World War Two is only just now being developed by you! (The new countries) So modern technology like unwired phones (Smartphones), advanced computers, many of the medical innovations such as multiple vaccines, pain relief and other things, etc. etc. is a no - go. And this is stressed even more for Post Modern Technology, such as lasers, energy shields, antimatter devices, and other things. If I or one of my Co-Ops (Admins) see you use Post Modern Technology without a darn good reason, then you will be voided. Repeat offenders will be asked to leave, in addition.

Give a modicum of effort to your posts, no ONE - LINERS for example without good reason.
I expect for you, the player to have fun with this, of course, but I would appreciate it if FailRP, bad RP, most importantly One - Liners (Which I saw a lot of in the previous roleplay) was kept to a minimum. How would your fellow roleplayers be expected to efficiently follow up on your posts if you've provided no substance?
You won't get punished for the first few times, but a warning will be issued to repeat offenders, and if continued, you may be asked to hang your hat.

A quick fire round of other rules:
1. Nations that continually break rules or refuse to listen to me or my four Co-Ops will be removed and prohibited from rejoining until it is seen they are fit to.

2. No instant invasions. RP your fleet crossing the oceans first. Surrounding a country should take up an entire post. RP your preparations for the attack before you attack. Be realistic. NO TELEPORTATIONS. Blitzkrieging is allowed but you must prepare for it first.

3. No WMDs of any kinds until 2 of your territories on the map are invaded. Testing them is allowed, within reason.

4. No god modding. So, basically, you don't dictate what other people's forces do and the damage they take. You only control your forces and the damage they take.

5. You may claim territories on the world map (This can be outside of the region of which you chose initially btw). You can increase your territory through invasions, or the colonization of territories that are unclaimed. You just have to rp it.

6. And I cannot stress this enough. In order to regulate this rp, and keep things fair and fun, I am the deciding factor of what goes in this rp. So, if I say you can't have as many troops as you say you do, then you have to follow my numbers. I'm sorry, but we can't have rules without enforcement.

Polynesia gets a chance to rule itself, as a sovereign, unified entity for the first time in history!

This is the national flag of South Polynesia. (Since our wondrous nation hasn't had a chance to unify all of Polynesia, this is what we are simply referred to as) The blue represents our fine oceans, the white waves for the ferocity of the Pacific's ocean currents. The red represents the blood our people gave before freedom, and the centrepiece, the orange sun is a representation of our honour, and our future prosperity.

A short history
Our ancestors had explored this fine ocean, what the outsiders call 'The Pacific',
but what we would simply call 'Vasa Tele', meaning Great Ocean for over a millennia, in finely crafted longboats,
of which the world at the time would've looked on in awe. Almost the entirety of the the largest ocean of planet
Earth was explored by these long gone ancestors, with an exception to the far northern reaches. From Rapa Noi
(Easter Island) to Aotearoa (New Zealand), to as far north as Hawaii.
Unfortunately, the fortunes were not to last. The European oppressors carved up our homes for the sake of Empire,
we had no power within our own lands any longer. The First World War came and went. Many New Zealanders died
on the beaches of Gallipoli, including our native Maori people. Hawaii was annexed by the United States,
unjustifiably. There are many more travesties that we could list, but as a short overview, we are not going to here.

The Second World War brought an end to our oppression. The Empires that once was couldn't take the brutality of
the fighting, they miraculously collapsed, every single one of them. The Polynesian islands, for the first time in
centuries became free of colonial rule. In the south, we rose out of the ashes, the Union of Polynesia. The modern
world taught us plenty, and we knew that to survive was to be united. It is unfortunate that the northern Islands
didn't see this in the same way as us in the South, but we are sure that in time, they will see the error of their
ways, and join us, to complete true Polynesian unity.

Overview
Polynesia, or how we unfortunately have to be internationally recognised as, the Union of South Polynesia
comprises of many different islands, laying mostly south of the Line Islands. Aotearoa comprises of the two
largest islands, simply referred to as the northern and southern islands. On these islands are three main
settlements, namely Tāmaki (It's old name being Auckland) and Te Whanganui a Tara (Or Wellington) on
the northern isle, and Ōtautahi (It's old name is Christchurch) on the Southern island. Though these
three cities are the biggest of our nation, it is Nuku'alofa, on the island of Tonga that serves as our national
capital, being the island where our great, great Polynesian ancestors originally come from. Port Vila is
the main settlement on the Vanuatu island chain. There is Narau, and the Elice and Caroline Island chain,
of which the town called South Tarawa is the biggest settlement on these islands. Pape'ete is the largest
town on the old name for the islands collectively known as French Polynesia, and another possession of
the late French Empire, New Caledonia names Noumea as their largest settlement. Far to the west, or
put in other ways, to the east of the old Chilean nation is Rapa Noi, or it's old, foreign name Easter
Island. Adamstown is by far the smallest settlement, located on one of the Pitcairn Islands, with only
a measly 58 people living on it. This holds the record for the furthest Human settlement away from
any other areas of civilisation, and is currently extremely hard to get to, though there are plans to
make it more accessible.

Our government is... Interesting. In the middle of the Japanese - American conflict of WW2, before
it completely broke down, the government takes inspiration from both old world governments. We
classify as a Semi - Constitutional monarchy, where the Chieftain/Chieftess (You, as a foreigner may
understand his/her position a little better if we called them a President) can be allowed to run the
day to day politics, and deliver minor reforms, but major laws, international policy and overall the
power to completely override the Chieftain/Chieftess if needed, the Emperor/Empress holds the
true power over the country. Honour is a huge part of Polynesian culture, never again shall we
be put against the boot of a foreign power.

History of the Dominion of America:
Three scores ago, a great calamity struck the world. What this calamity was, no one remembers. What people do remember, however, is the failure of the Federal government to act. This failure resulted in Texas declaring its succession from the Union. The Third Texan Republic was declared and soon after states from across the whole Union declared independence. Most significantly was the secession of North Carolina, which declared itself in opposition to the Old Union, calling itself the Federal Republic of America. The FRA then went on to conquer South Carolina and Georgia. This caused great concern as the Raleigh government quickly gained more territory. They were opposed, however, by the American Union State, formed by Tennessee, Alabama and Florida. Whilst the FRA and the AUS waged war, Louisiana conquered Mississippi and declared itself the Republic of New France and declared war on the AUS. In 1954, this three-way war left all three nations in ruin, allowing a new populist figure to rise to power and coup the Raleigh government. This figure was Alphons Cappiano, an Italian mobster who recently emigrated from Sicily. Cappiano declared himself Supreme Protector of the Dominion of America and quickly took over the three bickering nations through a combination of war, bribery and intimidation. Cappiano then moved to stabilise his new empire and would foster a corrupt nation filled with mobs loyal to Cappiano. The mobs would replace the previous corporations that operated in the region. In 1999, Cappiano would die of a heart attack and would be replaced by his most beloved adopted granddaughter Stephanie Claire Cordato. What the new Supreme Protector will do with her new position, we find out soon enough.

Government of the Dominion of America:
When trying to discuss the government of our glorious Dominion, one often has a hard time. This is because there hasn't quite anything like it before. Prior to our founding, mobsters had been limited to a specific area within a city and were hounded by tyrannical police forces. They were never allowed to expand their power beyond their own city. Now, thanks to our nation's benevolent Godfather, mobsters have become part of our government. How this works precisely we shall explain now. The best way to tackle this is by dividing the government into three branches: the Executive, the Legislative and the Judicial.

The Executive:
The Executive Branch is officially called the Office of Her/His Most Benevolent Supreme Protector. It is led by the Supreme Protector, may She bless us all, who is selected by the previous Supreme Director in their will. The Supreme Protector (MSBUA) then selects their closest advisors to form a Cabinet. Together they work together to run the country.

The Legislative:
The Legislative Branch is officially called the Council of Families. This is run by the 24 mob families, with the members of the council being chosen by their respective family. This Council in effect acts in the same manner as the Congress of old. They vote on legislation proposed by the Supreme Protector (MSBUA).

The Judicial:
The Judicial Branch is officially called the Supreme Court. This court houses judges selected by the Supreme Protector (MSBUA). The court's duties involve ensuring the mob families don't tear each other apart and stay loyal to the Supreme Protector (MSBUA).

Civil Service:
As with all governments, there is a Civil Service. This is run by the family of the Supreme Protector (MSBUA) and handle the day-to-day running of the country.

Confederate System:
Our nation is what's called a confederation. This means that the individual states have a lot of autonomy in deciding state policy, such as taxation and education. There are eight states; North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama, Florida, Mississippi and Louisiana. Each state is run by three mob families, who decide amongst themselves which family will rule which part of the state.

That was impossible. It couldn't be true. We had believed that Europe burned in the Cataclysm. But, there it was. A radio signal from Hebera or I guess Iberia. Huh, I definitely thought it was called Hebera. Oh well, perhaps it's some sort of language barrier. Oh well, I'd best respond.

The Undying Soviet Science Republics

For over half a century, the Eternal Premier of the Soviet Union has remained as an ever silent sentinel in the Kremlin, watching over ever vigilantly like a scarecrow as the Russian people began to slowly crawl their way back from the abyss caused the Cataclysm that once almost destroyed it. Having been guided since with a sterile, examining hand, Trofim Lysenko and his NKVD henchmen had used what remained of Western Russia as their own personal experimental playground, a mad scientist truly realized with almost limitless potential, with no one daring to put a stop to their insanity.

With only Western Russia only having been reclaimed from the abyss, even Lysenko realized that very necessary steps would need to be taken in order to fully reclaim the rest of the Motherland. With plans in place for gradual and 'scientifically' sponsored settlement slowly in the works for the Caucuses and lands East of the Urals. However a more immediate situation came through with matters pertaining to the Baltic Sea, one that required an immediate decision from the Kremlin.

The Kremlin, Moscow

The since skeletonized corpse of Joesph Stalin stood at the head of the meeting table, remaining silent as always. A decrepit Lavrentiy Beria wheezed himself continuously as he was then carted into the meeting room by a pair of officers, still remaining as Head of the NKVD despite being well over a 101 years old, having been only 'mostly' kept alive through one of Lysenko's machines. The mad scientist Lysenko himself though wasn't going to attend the meeting however, having claimed to be doing far more 'important' research up in Arkhangelsk for the time being.

With only a few more officers and the Head of the Red Fleet having preceded to shuffled in next the following few minutes after, the meeting commenced finally.

"So... We have reason to believe that Scandinavia may perhaps be back up and running again after all these years, and reports are in that other former nations around the world are as well. Our intelligence officers are not certain as why this is only now the case, but we should authorized deployment of a fleet detachment at once in order to secure the Baltic Sea, Eternal Premier." The Head of the Red Fleet then said, completely unfazed by the fact that Stalin cannot hope to respond anytime soon given the circumstances.

After patiently waiting for a few seconds, the Head of the Red Fleet continued anyways. "We've also have been maintaining radio silence over international comms for the time being, as some of these messages we've been getting seem unreliable at best for the time being."

"What? What you mean?" Beria then wheezed himself awake, before coughing rather violently for several seconds afterwards. Of course despite being supposedly still the Head of the NKVD, it's quite clear that Beria had since delegated his actual job to someone else a long time ago.

"I'm saying that it seems more like it's and international chit chat than an actual diplomatic channel, we don't have reason to not believe this may just be cluttered airways getting through to us now after years of dead air." The Head of the Red Fleet explained.

"Well, should we send something on repeat? Like a warning perhaps? Just to keep them off our lands and waters until we get around to reclaiming the Motherland?" Beria then wheezed.

"Very well, Sir. And we'll get to sending some ships out to the Baltic Sea at once."

With the radio message to the world over on repeat, a fleet of detachment consisting of several frigates and destroyers soon left port to secure parts of the Baltic which had been, at least historically, claimed by the Soviet Union prior to the Cataclysm. Whether they'll run into contact with the Scandinavian Fleet is a different question entirely.

South Polynesia Update

Papa'ete offers a plan for the Western isles of Polynesia
Tahiti (Known as French Polynesia before the cataclysm) is in the midst of preparing for an operation to the east of their islands. We have been told that they would petition to Emperor Makani and her Gracious Chieftess Malie Lea'ai a great infrastructure plan for the most western islands of the nation.
They would most likely be referring to the islands of Pitcairn, and Rapa Noi (Perhaps known as Easter Island to outsiders), of which consist of less than 10,000 people in combination.
A plan would be to build a new, expansive port on an unoccupied island in the Pitcairn collection. This would offer the settlement of Adamstown, with only fifty - eight people living inside it the necessary infrastructure needed to grow to become more prominent, perhaps even develop from a small village to a town eventually. In addition, Pitcairn is an opportune spot for better coverage of Vasa Tele by the Polynesian navy, and such a port would allow our grand navy to support themselves so far from the rest of the nation and it's people.

'The Third Island of Aotearoa'
The Three city councils of Tāmaki, Te Whanganui a Tara and Ōtautahi would, and already have petitioned to the Chieftain's Posse, and his greatest Emperor Makani for a interesting, and potentially lucrative plan for the nation.
The new millennium has now officially dawned, and South Polynesia have still yet to gain any contact from it's North - Western neighbor, that being Australia. It seems that the old nation had not survived the cataclysm, and in addition, no successor state has formed, by the looks of attempted communication, and even scouts. The Aotearoa councils have argued that their islands grow ever larger in population, and that perhaps growth could be facilitated with the colonization of Tasmania. This would give the ever increasing population the room to grow further, and will serve as a base of operations for further exploration of Australia, and perhaps further into the Indian Ocean.

Already, Emperor Makani and Chieftess Malie Lea'ai would give their approval for the project, and has given the nation the go - ahead to prepare for the colonisation of what is being nicknamed 'The Third Island of Aotearoa'. Plans are to be drafted, and around 5% of the military navy, and many commercial ships would be pre - assigned to facilitate the effort.

Celebrations of the New Millennium
The year of 2000 has seemed to catch up to the world, namely Polynesia quicker than anyone would've realised. A nation - wide day of celebration was launched on almost every single island of the nation. The cities of Aotearoa had citizens on the streets cheering for the dawn of the 21'st century, and the councils had arranged for a lavish show of lights, fireworks, parades and other events to take place on the day.
Other cities and towns outside of Aotearoa would also celebrate, similar events would take place on Vanuatu's Port Vila, Kiribati's South Tarawa, Tahiti's Papa'ete, and the official capital of South Polynesia, Nuku'Alofa.
Even the tiny Adamstown would have celebrated in their own way, all 58 people were invited to a lavish feast in one of the largest homes of the village to celebrate the day.

Within Emperor Makani's palace in the capital city of Nuku'Alofa, he would give a small sigh. Invited to meet with him was the current chieftain/chieftess of Polynesia, Malie Lea'ai. To mark the dawn of the 21'st century, they would celebrate with the rest of the crown, and the palace staff, treated to a large, lavish meal, and a firework display.
As the main events had settled down, the Emperor had invited Malie Lea'ai to a currently empty room. In it is a large table with a map of the world sprawled across it, chalkboards with many random messages, and some machinery, including a rather rare LRT, a Long Range Transmitter. They both knew what they were going to do, another attempt at relaying some messages across the world would be attempted.

"Your highness, I am sorry to bother, but we have tried to contact many different places across the world, ever since our nation's inception. You do not truly believe that, just because a new century has begun, that someone would actually pick up and respond to us this time?"

Makani would give a short chuckle, and then a slow shake of his head. Like her, the Emperor would not be expecting to get a response, but he reckons with himself that there is no harm in trying again.
This time, more messages would be sent across the world, to many places, both tried before and others that haven't.

Emperor Makani
"I believe what you believe, Chieftess. We've tried plenty of times to contact anyone who is still out there besides us, with no luck... Though, there is no better time to try again than now, considering the new dawn that we have passed through, and I will be broadening where I transmit the messages this time, to some locations that we have not attempted yet."
Malie Lea'ai
"Very well, I can not turn you away from your wishes, my Emperor. And on the very low chance that someone picks up this time, it will be an amazing result... (*Sigh*) Come then, let's do this."

Emperor Makani would give the Chieftess a enthusiastic nod, before turning on the LRT in front of him. With a few buttons, dials and switches, he would transmit to his first targeted location, that being Nanjing, China.

"This is an incoming transmission from the Union of South Polynesia, I am Emperor Makani, and I rule over these great lands. As this new dawn turns for the world, we are now attempting to contact any other civilisation out there, in the hopes that someone, anyone survived and rebuilt after the Cataclysm...
Please reply at your earliest convenience, we are deeply curious as to what has become of this world."

The Emperor would wait for the message to be broadcasted, before tuning to a different location..
..By the end of it, he would've repeated his message towards the locations of these places:

- Tallahassee, Florida
- Juneau, Alaska
- Rio De Janeiro, Brazil
- Cape Town, South Africa

Meanwhile in the British Isles and Scandinavian Continent. A new nation would emerge from the ashes.

A nation built on the Union of Two Empires thought lost in time, managing to maintain communications and agreeing on a Political union to deter enemies from invading their sacred shores.

The United Imperium of Svenska-Britannia would rise from the ashes of the Fall like a Phoenix arisen in flames.

The people outside the palace gathered by the thousands, waiting..looking..and staring at the Balcony of the Palace, waiting for the appearance of the Two Monarchs destined to lead the United Imperium into Prosperity and Unity.

Charles Von Roland, The Grand Emperor of the new United Imperium straightened his Dress Uniform and showing a bit of Social Anxiety.
"You really think this is the best idea?" Charles would ask the figure next to him.

"Of course my Dear..we need to show to the people that we are capable of leading this great nation into glory.." A female voice would reply.
Grace Von Roland, Wife of Charles and the Grand Empress of the United Imperium comforted Charles.

Another figure would step forth from the shade, a man dressed in a Blue Uniform, Yellow Epaulettes, and Red Sash, it screamed High Ranking Military Official. And he is..

"Your Majesties, its time for us to proceed.." The man stated.

"Very well then..Lead on, Grand General Albert Von Windserdotte.." Charles would reply and address him.
Albert Von Windserdotte, the Grand General of the Imperial Military made a snap salute before leading the Imperial Couple to the Balcony.

Albert, Grace and Charles waved their hands in greeting and receiving their cheers and applauses.

Then Charles proceeded to step up on the Podium placed infront of him, with a Microphone placed.

Silence would dominate the entire area for a few moments before Charles finally makes his speech.

"Today! is the time of Change, the Time where we arise from the ashes and join ourselves hand to hand with our comrades, our families, our loved ones. We've formed this Union between the resurrected Swedish and British States to defend ourselves from the ruthlessness that is the rest of the world. Right now, we need to stand together and follow our causes. We are no longer divided in Nationality, Race, Religion and Culture..for now that we stand United against the tide we shall show the world that we are the ones who will teach them: Unity, Progress, Prosperity, Peace, And Strength....

UNITED WE STAND!!" Charles finished his speech.

He was met by thunderous applause and cheers by the people, all chanting the same motto that he spoke...

Charles, Grace and Albert stood up on the Podium. Giving the people their warmest thanks and appreciation.

I would like for you to review this list, please...
Unless for a good reason, technology past the 1960's would not have been invented yet, so a lot of these weapons would be anarchistic, and does not fit into the RP...
If in doubt, fall back on Weapon WW2 military equipment, for after all, the world stopped during that conflict.

they are just blueprint for the future for military I didn't write blueprints I'll like at my Documents for WW2 military equipment.

Baltic Sea Flotilla

The Red Fleet Detachment consisting of around a half dozen each of frigates and destroyers that had since recently left port in Leningrad in order to secure several deemed strategic locations in the form of Islands off the coast of Estonia and Finland hadn't been met much in the way of any obstacles so far. Which in once normal, far less turbulent times, would've been expected for a pretty standard sea patrol. However the sonars had been fuzzy at best that day, having been giving false readings from nearby debris too frequently to be trusted, mostly contributed to the overall age of the equipment they were dealing with. Knowing this shortcoming however, the Vice Admiral had decided he wasn't having it, and had ordered a small flight of Ka-25 helicopters to lift off from the Flotilla's collection of helipads to scout out ahead to confirm any supposed 'sightings' along the waters, not that they were expecting much however. Completely unbeknownst to them to the dangers lurking just several meters below.

Using a more medium range transmission signal, the Vice Admiral made a brief broadcast to any nearby channels on the open water. "This is a detachment of the Red Fleet belonging to the Soviet Union, we intend to patrol these waters in the Baltic with the intent of securing and protecting Soviet Naval Assets, interference is not advised and will be punishable by authorization of force. The Eternal Union Endures." The broadcast made crystal clear of their intentions to perhaps some.

That was impossible. It couldn't be true. We had believed that Europe burned in the Cataclysm. But, there it was. A radio signal from Hebera or I guess Iberia. Huh, I definitely thought it was called Hebera. Oh well, perhaps it's some sort of language barrier. Oh well, I'd best respond.
