Papa'ete offers a plan for the Eastern isles of Polynesia

Tahiti (Known as French Polynesia before the cataclysm) is in the midst of preparing for an operation to the east of their islands. We have been told that they would petition to Emperor Makani and her Gracious Chieftess Malie Lea'ai a great infrastructure plan for the most western islands of the nation.
They would most likely be referring to the islands of Pitcairn, and Rapa Noi (Perhaps known as Easter Island to outsiders), of which consist of less than 10,000 people in combination.
A plan would be to build a new, expansive port on an unoccupied island in the Pitcairn collection. This would offer the settlement of Adamstown, with only fifty - eight people living inside it the necessary infrastructure needed to grow to become more prominent, perhaps even develop from a small village to a town eventually. In addition, Pitcairn is an opportune spot for better coverage of Vasa Tele by the Polynesian navy, and such a port would allow our grand navy to support themselves so far from the rest of the nation and it's people.

The Three city councils of Tāmaki, Te Whanganui a Tara and Ōtautahi would, and already have petitioned to the Chieftain's Posse, and his greatest Emperor Makani for a interesting, and potentially lucrative plan for the nation.
The new millennium has now officially dawned, and South Polynesia have still yet to gain any contact from it's North - Western neighbor, that being Australia. It seems that the old nation had not survived the cataclysm, and in addition, no successor state has formed, by the looks of attempted communication, and even scouts. The Aotearoa councils have argued that their islands grow ever larger in population, and that perhaps growth could be facilitated with the colonization of Tasmania. This would give the ever increasing population the room to grow further, and will serve as a base of operations for further exploration of Australia, and perhaps further into the Indian Ocean.

Already, Emperor Makani and Chieftess Malie Lea'ai would give their approval for the project, and has given the nation the go - ahead to prepare for the colonisation of what is being nicknamed 'The Third Island of Aotearoa'. Plans are to be drafted, and around 5% of the military navy, and many commercial ships would be pre - assigned to facilitate the effort.

Celebrations of the New Millennium

The year of 2000 has seemed to catch up to the world, namely Polynesia quicker than anyone would've realised. A nation - wide day of celebration was launched on almost every single island of the nation. The cities of Aotearoa had citizens on the streets cheering for the dawn of the 21'st century, and the councils had arranged for a lavish show of lights, fireworks, parades and other events to take place on the day.
Other cities and towns outside of Aotearoa would also celebrate, similar events would take place on Vanuatu's Port Vila, Kiribati's South Tarawa, Tahiti's Papa'ete, and the official capital of South Polynesia, Nuku'Alofa.
Even the tiny Adamstown would have celebrated in their own way, all 58 people were invited to a lavish feast in one of the largest homes of the village to celebrate the day.

Within Emperor Makani's palace in the capital city of Nuku'Alofa, he would give a small sigh. Invited to meet with him was the current chieftain/chieftess of Polynesia, Malie Lea'ai. To mark the dawn of the 21'st century, they would celebrate with the rest of the crown, and the palace staff, treated to a large, lavish meal, and a firework display.
As the main events had settled down, the Emperor had invited Malie Lea'ai to a currently empty room. In it is a large table with a map of the world sprawled across it, chalkboards with many random messages, and some machinery, including a rather rare LRT, a Long Range Transmitter. They both knew what they were going to do, another attempt at relaying some messages across the world would be attempted.

"Your highness, I am sorry to bother, but we have tried to contact many different places across the world, ever since our nation's inception. You do not truly believe that, just because a new century has begun, that someone would actually pick up and respond to us this time?"

Makani would give a short chuckle, and then a slow shake of his head. Like her, the Emperor would not be expecting to get a response, but he reckons with himself that there is no harm in trying again.
This time, more messages would be sent across the world, to many places, both tried before and others that haven't.

"I believe what you believe, Chieftess. We've tried plenty of times to contact anyone who is still out there besides us, with no luck... Though, there is no better time to try again than now, considering the new dawn that we have passed through, and I will be broadening where I transmit the messages this time, to some locations that we have not attempted yet."
Malie Lea'ai
"Very well, I can not turn you away from your wishes, my Emperor. And on the very low chance that someone picks up this time, it will be an amazing result... (*Sigh*) Come then, let's do this."

Emperor Makani would give the Chieftess a enthusiastic nod, before turning on the LRT in front of him. With a few buttons, dials and switches, he would transmit to his first targeted location, that being Nanjing, China.

"This is an incoming transmission from the Union of South Polynesia, I am Emperor Makani, and I rule over these great lands. As this new dawn turns for the world, we are now attempting to contact any other civilisation out there, in the hopes that someone, anyone survived and rebuilt after the Cataclysm...
Please reply at your earliest convenience, we are deeply curious as to what has become of this world."

The Emperor would wait for the message to be broadcasted, before tuning to a different location..

He Turns it on.

As this new dawn turns for the world, we are now attempting to contact any other civilisation out there, in the hopes that someone, anyone survived and rebuilt after the Cataclysm...
Please reply at your earliest convenience, we are deeply curious as to what has become of this world."
"Apparently not."
"This is the Prime Minister of Iberia. We Have Regained ourselves after the fall, and have united the Penninsula. We are looking for other People."

As the two monarchs were doing their tasks as usual, the nearby radio transmitter's speaker would alert them of an incoming transmission.

The two looked at each other, before eventually activating the speaker and letting it broadcast its transmission.

The transmission would be on repeat for a few moments, before Charles abruptly shut it off..

Silence would pass for the next few moments...until.

Charles slammed his fists in his office table, enraged and livid at the news that the SOVIETS still exist.


"..Those..Goddamm..MOTHERFUCKING COMMIE PIECES OF SHIT!! THEY STILL FUCKING LIVE AFTER ALL OF THIS!?!?!? GHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!"

And he slammed his fists again, breathing heavily and filled with rage.

"THOSE SUB-HUMAN PIECES OF SHIT DO NOT DESERVE ANY CHANCE AT COMMUNICATION!"

He then tuned the Radio and sent an encrypted transmission, to his highest ranking military officer..

"Grand General, by now you've already received the transmission. The fucking soviets are still around and kicking after all of these god damm years..No forms of proper communication are to be established with them, form our Baltic Fleet around the Area to prevent those motherfuckers from encroaching on our sovereign shores. AND TELL THOSE SCIENTISTS AND ENGINEERS TO MASS PRODUCE THOSE BALLISTIC MISSILES FOR CHRIST'S SAKE!!" He bellowed, and then sending the transmission..

He sighed in frustration and rage at the thought that the soviets still lived..

Baltic Fleet Flotilla

"Sir we've got a transmission back from the Scandinavians, they're pressing us leave at once with threat of force of their own." A petty officer then relayed to the Vice Admiral. The sonars themselves were already beginning to buzz with more activity with each passing moment, indicating an opposing fleet approaching several capable ships at hand.

"Not going to happen, contact the Kremlin and Leningrad, we need more ships and if possible bombers and subs to assist." The Vice Admiral said back, already ordering the Flotilla on alert. He then got on the comms again and relayed another transmission to the Scandinavian Fleet approaching.

"We have orders and rightful permission to patrol our own territorial waters from the Kremlin, we strongly insist that you return to port at once in order to avoid any further escalation. As we are here to protect our own assets, and don't intend to leave at your commands. Failure to comply will be met with force, this is your final warning." The Vice Admiral gave the ultimatum, as while in the background he was quickly ordering additional assets to come and assist him and his Flotilla

Leningrad Naval and Air Base

The Kiev-class aircraft carrier was quickly brought into what would've been considered a rapid deployment for a vessel of it size as tensions quickly grew out of proportions in the Baltic, with crew rushing in to get the ship out of port as soon as possible along with its supporting vessels. Along with additional Kremlin authorization, several fighters accompanying some air-to-sea bombers were now starting their engines off the runway and would shortly be in route to assist in any possible naval warfare, if one were to happen. Of course whether it would be enough to save the Flotilla already out in the water would be another question entirely.

Weiss waited for the reply and immediately hearing it after it arrived.

She breathed heavily, she knows this will end badly..but she will not let the Soviets get their hands along the Baltic. So she makes her reply.

"Negative, we cannot comply. You are treading on Svenska-Britannian Controlled waters in the Baltic Sea, unless if you stand down and turn your vessels away from the Baltic Sea and strictly stay just along the coasts. We have orders from the Imperial Palace of this, we cannot comply unless you turn away.." She made her reply, sending it.

Shortly after, she would commence an encrypted transmission towards Gotland Naval Base, to request further reinforcements.

The Naval Base would send out 10 Resolution Class Submarines, 15 Tiger Class Missile Cruisers and 5 County Class Destroyers.

The newly sent fleet composition would speed their way towards the Leonia at full speed.

Charles would be confused, the Iberians have returned? He replies with his own transmission.

"This is Charles Von Roland of Svenska-Britannia, you've contacted the United Imperium of Svenska-Britannia. What is it that you wish to discuss? If diplomacy is your thing, then we would gladly welcome it.." He made his reply, sending it to the Iberians.

Baltic Fleet Flotilla

The Vice Admiral scratched his chin, pondering. He had his orders, and from his point of view he was in his rightful jurisdiction. However the violence that can and will follow this incident could be possibly blamed on the Soviet Union, unless perhaps. "We won't fire the first shot."

"Come again, Sir?" His Petty Officer replied.

"You heard me, make maneuvers around them and go for our targeted assets regardless, if they fire on us, it'll be on them. What's the status report on our reinforcements?" The Vice Admiral then looked to his Comms Officer.

"The fighters and bombers would be patrolling our airspace shortly, the additional ships, including the subs and carrier you had requested will take longer to come however, Sir." The Comm Officer snapped back.

"How much longer?"

"Likely not until they have started firing on us, Sir."

"So be it, we'll stay the course, we won't be intimidated by these Westerners."

With their orders cemented, and further communications ceased, ships of the Flotilla began to simply maneuver around the Scandinavian's Fleet directory, using what assets they had at their immediate disposal to dissuade a possible naval skirmish in the Baltic if possible, though however seemingly unlikely to prevent. A very short amount of time would tell how successful this was.

Weiss knew that if they fired the first shots of the battle, they will be held responsible for starting the war. So she will have to take this the long game..

By now the reinforcements would arrive, thanks to their speed. They formed up with the rest of the ships and arranged themselves.

She pressed the Fleet Wide comms.

"All ships are not to engage with the Soviets, do not fire unless fired upon. Repeat: Do not fire unless fired upon. Line Abreast formation!"

The fleet then formed themselves in Line Abreast, making sure they don't get targeted upon one by one..

The Battleships would be protected by the Cruisers, whilst the Battlecruisers with the Destroyers. The Submarines would be down below the waves, silently waiting for the command to engage..

With a standoff over the Baltic having been commenced rather unofficially, yet strictly established. The Red Fleet moved what they could to secure what islands and nearby lands the Scandinavian Fleet couldn't have the chance to have reached, chiefly Estonia. Plans were then in place to establish naval bases as quickly as possible throughout the area of the Baltic Sea then in order to undercut their now new regional rivals in the near future. With plans for missile bases if necessary to deter any further interference.

Surprisingly Lysenko had been more intrigued at the current developing situation than furious over the prospect of having to establish whole new bases in the Baltic in order to enforce their claims. Rather he had off-handily mentioned the need to 'experiment' the concept of 'wet-men' for marine-based warfare, whatever that had meant to the Officers having heard the mere mention of it.

For now the situation was tensed at best, at the obvious brink at war at worse. Of course it wasn't likely the Kremlin planned to have this standoff remain for long.

Albert watched as the Imperial Fleet and the Soviets were having their standoff in the Baltic, he knew the repercussions of this standoff.

So he would phone other military officials to start construction of Naval Forts and Military Bases in Finland, Gotland, and Southern Sweden.

The Soviets had the hand in reaching the Estonian Coasts, but they have the upper hand with the Finnish Coasts.

Military expeditions have also been sent to occupy the Kola Peninsula from the Soviets as quickly as possible.

He also would inform the Fleet that Landing Ships are already boarding the Jarnvakt Infantry Regiments and a large batallion of Carolean Elite Shock Troopers..he knows this standoff will eventually have to boil down, but question is boil down to what..

The Murmansk Oblast, having been highly depopulated from the Cataclysm, yet still firmly considered a core of Russia proper, hadn't seen much in the way of Russian resettlement except in only recent years. However with the threat posed by the Scandinavians, many calls from the Kremlin were had to secure this northern frontier to be fully restored under Soviet control, however to move a full division worth of Red Army forces would be costly and take time in order to establish functioning forward operating bases. For the time being, the best the Lysenko government could muster at this moment is a rapid deployment of paradropped in Spetsnaz Commandos units, and organized local NKVD units to shore up defenses. However lacking in some areas they may currently be in.

Airdrops started to increase in the coming times, to ensure a fully supplied special forces sized brigade in the short-term, however with a shoreline not entirely secured, whether the Scandinavians would send troops over in an invasion wasn't entirely out of the question.

Concerned by the standoff occuring in the baltics, the Arab states of Southern Xenick gave decided that a navy for ourselves is to be constructed in case one of the equally distasteful imperialists or communists reach out to invade us. And so, with the growing fears of annexation for oil, nationalization bill #202 was passed by parliament, and the government would begin construction of 5 new destroyers, a aircraft carrier, and patrol boats. The project will be funded by money from the vast oil fields that produce more monwy every day, and before long, we will be able to defend ourselves just as well as the former nations.

Another one. Huh, the world was a lot more active than we once thought. Let's see where this is from. Huh, South Polynesia. Ah yes, these must be the Pacific Islands. Interesting that they managed to unite territory across such a vast ocean. At least, I think it's a vast ocean. It's impossible to know for sure these days. Oh well, time to send another broadcast.

It had been a while since the Chieftess of Polynesia had left his home in order to get back to her work. In many ways, he would be impressed at her dedication, Malie Lea'ai wouldn't let even the dawn of a new millennium stop her from her governance.
These days, Makani would let her rule Polynesia with more and more autonomy from him, though no-one, including herself may notice. He believes that she could help his great nation more that way, especially given how dedicated she is to it...

...Nevertheless, Makani would be in his own chambers now, brooding on his thoughts. However, someone would quickly knock first, and then swing open his door and give a snap salute. The staff member would quickly exclaim:

"Really?.. This is the first time someone has done so in years, and now that it's the new millennium, suddenly someone would respond to our long range transmissions? Have you checked that it is not, wel...
...Ah, whatever. The machine can predict the origin location of incoming signals, no? I must ask, where?"

"Yes, your highness. The machine is telling us that the recieved message is coming from... Yes, coming from the old continental United States. Namely, from my best estimates, Raleigh, North Carolina."

The Emperor would shudder in his seat. Contact from the United States has been recieved by them, and from the Eastern Seaboard. He would give a slow nod, raise himself from his chair, and give a knowing, low smile as if to command the staff..
..The two would make it to the room, of which the LRT is stationed. Soon enough, after the staff member turned a dial or two, and slammed a finger into a button, a message would start to be delivered:

"Radio Broadcast from Raleigh, NC to South Polynesia
Attention, Empress Makani of South Polynesia. This is Supreme Protector Stephanie C. Cordato, ruler and mistress of the Dominion of America. We have received your message and would be interested in opening diplomatic communications between our two great nations.

The Emperor would turn slowly to look at his staff, with a face that says it all. A mixture of confusion, intrigue, incredulousness... And perhaps a little bit of worry is what it would convey. They have attempted to contact another potential civilization for decades now, ever since their inception. Maybe it was foolish to believe that they, were the only peoples that formed into a nation for all this time, but there had been no proof otherwise.
But now? A sudden response from the 'Dominion of America' ? This is going to cause a national shockwave across the islands once news gets out. And Makani wouldn't hesitate to tell his people of the news...

"You. You must get the word out of our first contact with an extra - national civilization to the major news companies of Polynesia, the people deserve to know of this momentous occasion. Contact with a nation on the Eastern Seaboard has been made."

"Yes, your majesty. I will get right onto it."

And so it would be, news from the palace that extra - national contact has been made in earnest has finally occurred. In the meantime, however, the Emperor would immediately give a response to the message given, using the tools in the briefing room to figure out the coordinates of Raleigh, North Carolina, and then speaking into the machine.

"Transmission from Nuku'Alofa, Polynesia to Raleigh, North Carolina.
I am humbled and glad that a response from another nation has now finally been achieved. For the longest time, we had only come across people who more resemble tribals, scrounging for their own goods and supplies by themselves or with small groups. We indeed believed that we may have been the only people who call a country, a nation home... We are glad to see that we were wrong.
As the Emperor of South Polynesia, I, Makani would enjoy learning more about you, and your 'Dominion of America'. Forgive my confusion, but we had contacted a few other places along the Eastern Seaboard of the old continental United States, but had yet to recieve a response. It is extraordinary that, on the turn of the new millennium, we would finally discover you, an extra - national civlilsation.

And Makani would not hesitate to send the message, with a thump of a button on the machine, it would be sent across the airwaves, hopefully to it's intended target in order for it to be intercepted...

South Polynesia Update

Pitcairn and Rapa Noi receives attention:

After given the green light, and support from both the Chieftess and Emperor of Polynesia, Tahiti and the surrounding islands would spearhead it's plan to improve the infrastructure of the islands west of it, namely Pitcairn and Rapa Noi. As stated before, the population of these islands do not surpass 10,000, so room for improvement is most definitely possible. A small detachment of the Royal Polynesian Navy would be sent out, to escort the commercial ships, of which laborers, engineers and many other people of professions will most likely call their home for months, years even.
An empty island, a couple of miles from the tiny settlement known as Adamstown shall be converted to a grand, national port. Though the island in question is small, the submerged mountain underneath it offers support for offshore structure building, should the need arise for such port to become bigger than the surface area of the island. Similar plans are being given the green light for Rapa Noi (3,510 km from the old Chilean mainland). This will prove to be much easier, though it is further away, because of a much larger population of over 8,000 people. Still, as an island of national pride, the furthest west our distant Polynesian ancestors managed to travel, it deserves the same treatment that Adamstown will get, and so it will. The western islands and it's improvements in infrastructure will prove to bring prosperity to everyone, from Ōtautahi to Rapa Noi.

The Aotearoa governates, such as the city councils of Tāmaki and Ōtautahi have sent their first settlers to Tasmania, after being provided with permission to green light the colonisation operation by Emperor Makani and the Chieftess Malie Lea'ai. In addition, civilian and commercial ships were reserved for the settlers to ride to their new homelands, alongside an escort of military ships, including a dozen destroyers, a battlecruiser and many supply ships, which will be unloading thousands of military personnel onto the new lands during the years, in order to keep the settlers themselves safe, and eradicate any potential hostile forces.
Being nicknamed 'The Third Great Island of Aotearoa', should such an operation be successful, it will provide a bed for the future population of Polynesia to grow. Already a grand settlement, named Tauranga Faingamālie is in the process of being built by the first settlers.

Unfortunately, her work shouldn't be put on hold for long, lest she forget something important, miss something important. The role of Chieftain/Chieftess is perhaps the busiest of the entire country, and while she is proud to be allowed the privilege of being in the position, it does get tiring.
Nevertheless, she would be within her office, working on some paperwork. Two requests from two different sides of the nation would be needed to be addressed immediately, namely the subject of Tasmanian colonisation, and infrastructure improvements in the western isles. She would be absorbed in thought, almost enough to blank out some fellow official calling for her attention.

Nevertheless, she has been well and truly distracted from her work now, so she slides herself off her chair, and walks up to the official.

The official would simply give a sharp nod to the Chieftess, and would escort her to the room of which houses the LRT. Sitting in a dust filled room, in the centre of a wooden table is the machine, standing sentinel, waiting to be interacted with.
Malie Lea'ai would give a nod to the official, and with that he'd walk up to the machine, turn a few dials and push a button. A short, simple message would beam out of it's speakers, that being:

"This is the Prime Minister of Iberia. We Have Regained ourselves after the fall, and have united the Peninsula. We are looking for other People."

The Chieftess would give a small chuckle as a first response to the message given. She does this as she bites her own words that she said back at the All Polynesia Palace, perhaps it wasn't completely foolish to send those messages out...
However, all she can wonder now is, why? What made them wait until the year 2000 in order to make contact with South Polynesia? After all, messages from Polynesia had been sent out before to the Iberian Peninsula, namely places such as Madrid, Lisbon and Santander. She can't wait in confusion and apprehension all day though, the Iberians must be anxious for a response.

Turning some dials, flipping some switches and pressing buttons, she would tune a message to be sent to Valencia, Spain, and would then promptly start talking:

Good day to whomever intercepts this message, we are returning a message after a response from your people. I am Malie Lea'ai, Chieftess... (*Ahem*), President if you will of the Union of South Polynesia, on behalf of the nation's people, I would like to thank Iberia for contacting us. For the longest time, we had believed that we were the only people who had recovered enough from the Cataclysm of the 1940's to create their own nation, but I am excited that I have been proven wrong.
I believe that you are the first foreign country to contact South Polynesia. Exploration of Australia, and even small parts of Chile have proved useless, no unified nation had been discovered on their shores.
If you have managed to establish any communication with foreign entities, South Polynesia would be forever thankful if you were to reveal their existence to Polynesia. But, for now, please reply at your earliest convenience."

Charles would be surprised at this, to think that South Polynesia actually survived and formed its own nation. Without hesitation, charles immediately replied with his own. Directing the transmission to South Polynesia.

"This is Grand Emperor Charles Von Roland, One of the Sovereigns of the United Imperium of Svenska-Britannia. We hear your attempts at contact and are happy to hear another nation's voice. But as of this time, im afraid you have caught me at a bad time. The United Imperium is currently in a Standoff with a restored 'Soviet Union' in the Baltic Sea, we hoped they would stop their attempts at trespassing but they insist on being in the Baltics. So now warships are currently in a fierce standoff against both nation's navies, unable to establish a proper diplomatic course of action.." He replied, sending the message immediately after.
