I have a plan for who it is, but before that would anyone like to Idrisid Caliphate's secret investors?

They're a coalition of Islamic Jihadist warlords in Libya who seek the liberation of former Fatimid Caliphate lands, starting with my territory in Tunisia and Algeria.

So, yeah, if any of you have a bone to pick with either France or the ERE, and you're interested in being shadow supporters in an Islamic Jihad, then yeah, here's an opportunity.

Sweet! We definitely needed a Persia or at least a major Middle Eastern empire to rival the Romans.

Can I assume that you'll be Zoroastrian?

I'll pass because 1.Hispania is attempting to build semi-good relations with France and supporting rebels would damage those attempts. 2.It'd be a bad example to their own Berber populations especially in the south who are still more or less autonomous and could use this as a reason to rise up against the government in Toledo.

I apologize for wasting everyone's time.

Rip, perhaps you'd like to be a vassal state instead? That way you could still be in the RP yet not have as much need to actively participate as much as a sovereign nation.

I see. Is there an application for it? I might consider it, however.

There’s no app, but you ought to approach someone whose nation you fancy and ask for the possibility of being their vassal.

For example, our OP has the Eastern Roman Empire and someone is playing as his vassal in Egypt

Idk, just talk to the OPs or Co-OPs about it

It's an invitation for a response, yeah, although if you prefer to write a collaborative post together I'm happy to do that too.

Question, is there any place I can show off a draft of my work for this? Mind if I hit you up with a telegram, maybe?

We do allow people to play as the colonies or vassals of others, but the players must accept beforehand. From the ERE, only Crimea/Taurica might still be played as such.

Other than that, you'd have to ask players themselves.

Full Nation Name : Empire of Wallachia-Poland/Imperiul Țării Românești-Polonia/Cesarstwo Wołoszczyzny-Polska/Valakijos-Lenkijos Imperija
Majority/Official Culture : Wallacho-Polish (read: Romanian-Polish), a mix of Polish and Wallachian identities created after centuries of Wallachian rule.
Territorial Core : Territories
Territorial Claim : Realistic Claims/Wet Dream Edition
Capital City : Lviv/Lwów/Lvovas
Population : 18~ million

Government Type : Elective Monarchy
Government Ideology/Policies : Survival, because being surrounded by potentially hostile powers tends to shift the focus of your outward politics and diplomacy; that isn't all the ideology of survival entails however, it also means the survival of the Empire's ideals and system of governance, as although it may seem as some sort of republic with all people being allowed to elect a candidate, it is also a monarchy, with all its candidates being members of the current ruling family.
Government Focus : Military, economy, and diplomacy focuses are a must for the government of the Empire. Military in that they must be able to fight back their neighbors on even footing, economy as to ensure this even footing can be maintained, and diplomacy to ally with said neighbors and to ensure it becomes uneven in favor of the Wallacho-Polish Empire. A focus on the internals of the empire is also there as to ensure that nobody gets too uppity and ruin carefully made plans.
Head of State : Imparat Ladislau III Petenye-Piast
Head of Government : ^
Government Description : The evolution of the current Wallacho-Polish government is a strange one, beginning in the 1090s under the House of Basarab and the enactment of "drept heregie" or true heredity, this concept is one of the pillars of the current government, as only members of the current royal family and related branches and cadet houses can be elected, and after election, would need to change their surname into the current royal family's. The elected Imparat then has executive powers as head of the Sfat (Council/cabinet) and gets to create and change the composition of the Sfat.

The Legislature of the Empire is the Grand Sejm, consisting of the Consiliu (upper house) and the Adunare (lower house). The Consiliu consists of a pair of Voivodes from individual Voivodeships, of which there are 12, and therefore 24 Voivodes, which are elected by popular vote. The emperor is to appoint a final 25th Vovoide after these elections, usually a member of the royal family and etc. Each Vovoideship has subunits called Tara, and in total there are 58 Tara, and from these come the members of the Adunare. From each Tara comes a pair of Ban, members of the Adunare. The Ban are elected into the Adunare by popular vote, with the second Ban coming from the second most popular choice. From the Tara there are 116 Ban, with the emperor having to appoint an extra 4 Ban, making the total 120.

Whatever decisions, legislation, laws, and such the Consiliu and Adunare come up with, the Emperor can veto. The only thing the Emperor cannot veto is impeachment, which needs to be supported by 80%+ in the Adunare, and afterwards, to be accepted by the members of the Consiliu. So far, an impeachment has not yet occurred.

Majority/State Religion : Eastern Orthodoxy
Religious Description : Catholic and Protestant minorities in Poland, and a few Norðurtrúin minorities in Courland and Lithuania.

Economic Ideologies : Capitalism
Major Production : Agricultural products, cattle and related products, coal
Economic Description : Although much of the economic power within the empire has been under the hold of the aristocracy in the early 1500s and before, much of that changed with the eruption of the Great Peasant Wars in 1524, and the famine that occurred just shortly after. Fears of the cooperation of the bourgeoisie and the peasantry grew and forced Imparat Iorghu I to enact a series of reforms to ensure that the bourgeoisie would remain placated, as well as restrictions on grain price regulation by the nobility. This in turn would allow urbanization to develop and slowly increase in at a greater pace later down the line in the 1600s and beyond, as well as help the Empire to begin developing industries.

Even with all this, industrial products within the Empire- with the exception of coal- are a minor but growing part of the Wallacho-Polish economy, with most of said industrial products and their production occurring in the Dniester and Lviv-Lublin Lines. Beyond those, much of the production within the Empire is agricultural, with grain and its related products being the primary crop being traded with the Empire's neighbors. Cattle and its related products are also another major trade of the Empire, along with the fur trade.

Development: Industrializing
Development Description : Surrounded on all sides by industrial powers, check. Said industrial powers might be hostile, check. Can industrialize? Check. Need to do something about it? Check. Although lacking in easily accessible iron, there is an abundance of other resources in the lands of the Empire, most important being coal. Most of the industrialization has been occurring near a line from the Dniester river, to Lviv and Lublin. Areas elsewhere are either fairly undeveloped to being fully agricultural.

Army Description : Surrounded on all sides, by land and sea, and the only truly non-hostile state being that of the Eastern Roman Empire in the south. This along with a bevy of wars with its neighbors as both aggressor and defender has resulted in the Wallacho-Polish army to be a large and well-trained force, with a large emphasis on cavalry forces and the maximization of mobility in general. Recently, a shift towards a division based military has occurred, and has resulted in the creation of an army some 180,000 strong, and divided into 3 Regions: Lithuania, Poland, and Wallachia. Each Region has 3 divisions, totaling 9 divisions of 20,000 all in all. In turn these are further divided into 10 regiments of 2,000; 4 of which are infantry regiments, 3 cavalry regiments, 1 artillery regiments, and 2 support regiments.
Army Weakness : Fresh out of the reorganization and untested, it is unknown what the performance of the new army will be. Then there's the other issues of said army, such as the language barrier between the Wallachians, Polish, and Lithuanians, although the between the former two this issue has been lessened. There are also supporters and officers of the old system that either are simply grumbling to outright uncooperative and obstructive with the new, resulting in some freeze-ups in areas. The over-reliance on overwhelming cavalry is also another issue that needs to be addressed.
Naval Description : The Wallacho-Polish navy contains only of a pair of decent sized fleets on the Baltic and Black Seas: the North and South Fleet respectively, and riverine naval forces. Other than that, its a highly unremarkable branch of the military.
Naval Weakness : Low funding, low ships, low guns, low everything. If there's one word that the Navy can be summed up with, it would be "lack". Then there's the fact that it is bottle-necked by foreign powers; by the fairly amicable Romans in the south by the Bosporus, and by the pagan Scandinavians by the Danish Belts. It is the latter that is the main source of trouble for the Wallacho-Polish navy, as it is there that the feared seamen of the north are found, and even defending against them might be too much of an order for the North Fleet.

National Goals : Reunite with Wallachia or at least draw it into the Empire's sphere; prevent the spread of Republican traditions into the Empire; unify the Polish, Wallachians, and Lithuanians; secure the borders and prevent a two-front war via diplomacy. Summed up in one word: Survive
National Issues : Lithuanians, not even once; Catholic and other religious minorities causing issues; Slow creep of Republicanism into the empire; being surrounded on all fronts by powers with ambiguous opinions on the Empire.
National Figures of Interest : Optional, but I will work on this later.
National Ambition/Aspirations : Obtain "Realistic Claims", obtain "Wet Dream Edition"

History :
  • 9th-10th century: Increased Magyar raids into Vlach lands results in increased movement into Moldavia. Mostly stops after Magyar Christianization, and populations are able to rebound to pre-Magyar populations. Orthodox missionaries going to Moravia are rerouted by Svatopluk I's ascension into Poland instead, and they are able to convert Mieszko to Orthodoxy instead of him converting to Catholicism.
  • 1035: Vlach Revolt under Ban Iacob Olténia
  • 1036: Establishment of the Banate of Lesser Wallachia after the Vlach Revolt succeeds, Ban Iacob soon gains the moniker of "the Liberator" and after his son's reign, became "the Old Liberator", both him and his son have become the fathers of the Wallachian-Polish Empire alongside Aron VII "the Impaler".
  • 1050: Moldavian Revolt in Pecheneg Khanate, Wallachian intervention and subsequent integration of Moldavia, Ban Aron is crowned Domnitor/King Aron I of Wallachia, his actions in the war earn him the moniker of "the Younger Liberator".
  • 1051-1052: Invasion of Transylvania, it succeeds and much of Transylvania is integrated.
  • 1061-1062: Bela I's reconquest of Transylvania, it succeeds and Transylvania is lost along with Oltenia.
  • 1063-1064: Conquest of the Dniester succeeds, resulting in total Wallachian control of the Dniester River
  • 1070-1072: 1st Conquest of Red Ruthenia, mostly successful
  • 1087-1089: 2nd Conquest of Red Ruthenia, successful
  • 1090-1095: Cuman Invasion along with Byzantine Invasion, all of Wallachia is lost and what is left is turned into a tributary, Wallachia's name still remains, which in turn results in the name migrating to OTL Moldavia. These acts under the current Domnitor Iorghu I, otherwise known as "the Unready", causes a revolt of the nobles led by Aron Basarab "the Strong". After the revolt succeeds in 1095, Aron is crowned Aron III and in order to appeal to the rebel nobles, he would establish Wallachia as an elective monarchy, he is however, able to exact concessions from them in the form of "drept heregie", where only members of the current ruling family and any bastards/cadet houses would be able to be elected into the position of Domnitor. Previous ruling dynasties would be excluded from the succession, including his if ever they are deposed in a war.
  • 1097-1099: Invasion of Kievan Rus by the Cumans. Aron III comes to assist them, and Wallachian assistance is rewarded by more annexations in Red Ruthenia and some parts of Kiev itself.
  • 1112-1237: Filler, further invasions and annexations of Kievan Rus, conflicts with Poles, Hungarians, and Lithuanians
  • 1238: The Wallachians accept becoming a tributary of the Mongols in exchange for not being sacked, this allows for the Mongolians to raid further into Europe, with a few raids even reaching Germany.
  • 1238-1385: Filler, conflict with Lithuanians, lose some of them, marriages with Polish. Loosening Mongol influence on Wallachia which would lead to its breaking free from them later on.
  • 1385-1390: Polish War of Succession, Aron VII disputes the potential Polish-Lithuanian union in early 1385 and goes to war, assisted by the Teutonic Knights who wish to snub the growing power of the Lithuanians. The conflict is extremely bloody on the Lithuanian side as Aron VII tears into every settlement, army, fortification, and farm he finds. His knack for impaling his enemies (which might include civilians depending on his mood) on stakes earning him the moniker of "the Impaler". Hochmeister Konrad Zöllner von Rotenstein would comment on his brutality, saying "We traded an amicable pagan for a Christian demon." The end result was his marriage with the "King"/Queen of Poland, Jadwiga, whom he had 3 sons and 5 daughters with. All this results in an enormous Wallachian-Lithuanian rivalry, with each war between them from this point on seemingly managing to kill civilians one way or another.
  • 1401-1444: Reigns of Ladislaw the Bloody and Aron the Great. The former who more or less engaged in brutal brush-fire wars with the Lithuanians, resulting in them being pushed out by both the Teutonic Order and the Wallachians, and the nation breaking free from being a tributary of the Golden Horde with the indirect help of Novgorod- who was pushing the Horde back- also during his reign. All these wars would result in resentment from the Polish nobility, especially with Ladislaw's threats against the Sejm and his promises to dissolve it. Here the latter would thrive in his reign, by soothing the nobility through increasing there powers in some areas, the metaphorical dirt path his predecessors carved out would by fashioned by Aron into a stone way, centralizing the empire in the right ways while decentralizing it in others, and moving the capital to Lvov/Lwow to assist with this. He would also curb the powers of smaller sejmiks by centralizing most of it into a single Sejm, as well as creating the Sejm of Wallachia.
  • 1488-1497: Reign of Dumitru V "the Amicable". Under his rule he would do more reforms to the Sejms, and enforce "drept heregie" succession in both kingdoms via concessions. He would also start a war with the Teutonic Order in the latter parts of his reign, taking Samogitia and Courland from them and gaining important Baltic ports. He would also deal with the Cossacks in the south, paving the way for their defeat at the hands of Wallachia-Poland and Novgorod later down the line.
  • 1500-1551: Union of Lvov, Polish and Wallachian Sejms are united by Aron IX, who is then crowned Imparat (emperor) by the first session of the new Grand Sejm. Most of the current Empire's governance and succession laws would be established around this time. Reigns of Imparat Aron and Iorghu, the latter of which is named "the Good" posthumously thanks to his sweeping reforms improving the status of the bourgeois.
  • 1550s-1650s: The Bloodying of Empire, wars with Novgorod in the east and the HRE in the south more or less commonplace. Alliances with the ERE also happen.
  • 1778-1800: German Revolutionary Wars occur, with Wallacho-Poland intervening along with other powers. A series of blunders and stinging sets of failures would see their incursions into the newly-formed United States of Germany be blunted and pushed back. Later intermittent warfare with the new USG results in a ruined Poland, which prompts the wars to stop and forcing the Empire to focus on internal issues.
  • 1801-1811: A decade known as "the Reconstruction" begins, as the Wallacho-Polish begin to focus on internal issues instead of meddling in the affairs of its neighbors, as well as repairing Poland.
  • 1812: Present Day

After winning he election, recently elected De la Rosa plans to not waste any time implementing his agenda.
Government Focus : The De la Rosa administration plans to broaden diplomatic relations with European and Asian nations, as well as engage itself more in international trade and to grow the economy so that it is not so dependent on agriculture as it currently is.
Head of State : Diego De la Rosa
Head of Government : Diego De la Rosa
Government Description : The Floridian government is based on the IRL American government, with three branches of government. There are a few differences, such as there is only one house of legislature and the Supreme Court is made up of elected officials rather than appointed judges.

The Executive Branch is made up of the Office of the President, the Office of the Vice President, and each of the different ministries, which function like the IRL American system.

The Legislative Branch is made up of a singular house of legislature, the Senate, which is made up of 2 representatives from each of Florida’s 16 districts (or states), plus a representative from each Native American tribe living in Florida.

The Judicial Branch is made up of courts of different levels of jurisdiction and power, those being local level courts, district level courts, lesser federal courts, and the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court of Florida is made up of a body of 7 different officials who are elected into their seats by the people rather than appointed by the President. These officials are usually people with experience in the criminal justice system, such as lawyers, prosecutors, and judges.

Majority/State Religion :Christianity
Religious Description :[/b] Florida is 73% Protestant , with the rest of the Christian population falling under Roman Catholicism. Other religions include Atheism and voodoo.

Economic Ideologies : Capitalism
Major Production : Oranges, Cattle, Cotton, Sugar, etc.
Economic Description : Florida’s economy is mostly dependent on agriculture, as there are little factories(only two on the whole country) and they engage in little international trade. President Diego De la Rosa plans to change this by increasing international trade with the Federal Enclave to the north and Europe, as well as beginning to industrialize. Knowing that industrializing will be difficult, to say the least, without a foreign backer, De la Rosa also plans on gaining one as part of his extensive foreign policy agenda.

Florida’s agriculture industry makes up nearly 57% of Florida’s GDP, with many farms and plantations covering up most of the Florida countryside. These farms, which are owned by the local countrymen and mainly grow oranges, peaches, cotton, and sugarcane, use paid hands and are not as dependent on slave labor as they used to be. The plantations, which are owned by the rich from the cities, still use slave labor, despite the fact that they generate enough profit to hire paid hands and still make a decent amount of money. However , despite Florida’s lessening reliance on slave labor, these rich plantation owners refuse to free their slaves, which is a controversial issue the De la Rosa administration will have to face over the next four years.

Meanwhile, Florida hardly engages in any foreign trade, taking in very little imports and not exporting any goods at all, which considering the large agricultural output, exporting excess goods is an untapped gold mine for the Floridian economy. Diego De la Rosa knows this, and plans to negotiate trade agreements with European nations and with the Federal Enclave to the north.

As for Florida’s industry, it’s almost nonexistent. There are only two active factories in Florida, and all they produce is farming equipment which is almost immediately sent to the farms and plantations. Once a foreign financial backer is secured, Diego De la Rosa plans to open the outskirts and unused portion of the cities to factory construction. These hypothetical new factories would produce refined goods, construction supplies such as steel, and new weapons to be used by the military, such as guns and cannons.

Development: Pre-Industrial
Development Description : Florida’s industry is almost nonexistent.

Army Description : After the Floridian Revolution, the Revolutionary Militia, the forces of the rebels, was reorganized into the Floridian Army. The army, made up of only 20,000 troops, is divided into 10 infantry brigades of 2,000 troops each. The president appoints Lieutenant Generals in charge of the different brigades, usually based experience and how well they train their troops.
Army Weakness : While the Army is relatively well trained, it consists only of infantry units, with no real Calvary or Artillery (as in cannon) divisions. The Army is also untested in combat, and forced to use old and unreliable muskets that can be more than 50 years old.
Naval Description : After the Floridian Revolution, Benjamin Fredrickson officially created the Floridian Navy, consisting of 5 Naval Brigades of 5 ships each. Like the Army Brigades , the Naval Brigades are led by Lieutenant Generals, usually based on experience and training ability
Naval Weakness : The Navy, like the Army, is untested in combat, as it is primarily used to regulate domestic trade going through Floridian waters and to protect against buccaneers. It’s also not very large
Further Military Description : Both Branches are pretty small and underfunded. The military is forced to use Revolution-era equipment, which is pretty outdated, and with little funding, they cannot afford to improve the equipment. President Diego De la Rosa has remained open to increasing military funding, but doing so is not his top priority.

National Goals : Florida wishes to establish itself on the global stage, grow its economy, continue its survival, and increase communication and diplomacy with European and Asian nations.
National Issues : Lacks international relations; economy and industry underdeveloped; slavery a widely talked about issue; small size, which will become more of a problem as the population continues to grow; while they have signed numerous treaties with Native Americans respecting their sovereignty and giving them somewhat of a voice in government, not everyone agrees with these treaties
National Figures of Interest : Ponce de Leon is seen as a Christopher Columbus like figure and can be seen on the $5 banknote, and revolutionary leader and first president of Florida, Benjamin Fredrickson, is seen as a George Washington like figure and the father of Florida. He can be seen on the $1 banknote.
National Ambition/Aspirations : In an initiative started by President Diego De la Rosa, Florida will begin to establish concrete relations with European and Asian powers.

History :
Early Colonial Period

In 1513, Florida was discovered by Hispanic explorer Juan Ponce de Leon, who named the newly discovered land La Florida. Upon discovery, he and his band of conquistadors landed ashore and claimed the land for Hispania.

In the following decades, the Hispanics attempted to establish a settlement in the area, with little success until 1565, when St. Augustine was founded. The Hispanics maintained strategic control over the area by converting local tribes to Christianity. Some Hispanics married or had unions with Native American and African women, enslaved and free, and their descendants created a mixed race population of mestizos and mulattos. The Hispanics encouraged escaped slaves from the thirteen colonies to come to Florida, where they would be freed. As such, many came.

There geographical claim on Florida diminished with British settlements being established to the north and French settlements being established to the west. To protect St. Augustine from attacks from Britain and buccaneers, they built the Castillo de San Marcos and Fort Mantanzas and to maintain its strategic position to lay claim to Florida as a whole. These forts would play a considerable role in the Floridian Revolution.

The 1st and 2nd Great Migrations

By 1760, the population of Florida was a mere 55,000. Meanwhile, the British made the Proclamation of 1763, which barred settlers form the thirteen colonies form settling west of the Appalachian Mountains. Colonists also saw the first of the new taxes created by the British that would eventually spark the American Revolution. Although, in 1765, a man from North Carolina proposed that colonists that were looking to settle west, but couldn’t, and to also escape the harsh taxation, could settle in Florida, in what is referred to as the Florida Loophole. This proposal sparked the First Great Migration, in which nearly 400,000 settlers from the thirteen colonies came to Florida in droves, settling in already established towns like St. Augustine and Miami, and also founding their own towns, such as Tampa.

The First Great Migration, which lasted from 1765-1770, caused the population to skyrocket, reaching 420,000 by 1770. With the rapid increase in population, the Hispanic Crown officially put a Lieutenant Governor was put in charge of the territory, as the Crown had direct control before. After the First Great Migration, the population stabilized and didn’t increase all that much. Then, in 1775, the American Revolution began, and many colonists were afraid of the might of Great Britain. In an attempt to flee the potential violence, colonists, mostly loyalists, moved to Florida in the Second Great Migration, in which about 250,000 colonists moved to Florida.

After the First and Second Great Migrations, the population of Florida was approaching 700,000 by 1783, when the Treaty of Paris was signed and the American Revolution came to an end.

The Rise of Tensions

After the American Revolution, the population was made up mostly of settlers from what was then the United States and of mestizos. Seeing how Hispanics were outnumbered in Florida nearly 15-1, the Hispanic Crown began to assert control through the Lieutenant Governor, restricting immigration from the former thirteen colonies, placing tariffs on American goods, taking steps to mandate Roman Catholicism, and gradually taking away power from the Lieutenant Governor, which was not liked by colonists, to say the least. The colonists protested the sudden authoritarianism from the Hispanic Crown, but they were largely ignored.

Then, the Hispanic Crown began to enforce mercantilism, blocking all trade from anyone other than Hispania. The colonists protested this by boycotting Hispanic goods, instead purchasing domestically crafted goods. The Hispanic Crown responded by seizing the businesses of the homemade goods crafters and shutting them down. They also nationalized farms and plantations in the countryside, also shutting down most of those. This made the economy dependent on Hispanic goods being shipped in. This outraged colonists, and as such, protests began to evolve into riots.

The Hispanic Crown was having none of this. Florida was their lone colonial possession in the New World, and they weren’t about to just give it up. As such, the Hispanic Crown sent 2,000 troops to Florida to seize control of the territory. News of this spread in Florida via whistleblower, and the colonists were outraged, beginning to arm themselves. Once soldiers arrived in Jacksonville and headed south for St. Augustine, they were confronted by more than 800 armed colonists at Mojave Creek. After they refused to lay down arms, shots were fired, kicking off the Floridian Revolution.

The Floridian Revolution

At the Battle of Mojave Creek, shots from both sides fired on each other, and after both sides took considerable casualties, the rebels fell back, and the Hispanics gave chase. Then, they ran into another group of rebels that were led by Benjamin Fredrickson, and they fired at the Hispanics as they approached. After taking considerable casualties, the Hispanic soldiers retreated. The Battle of Mojave Creek is widely regarded as a victory for Florida, but considering both sides took considerable casualties, it is also regarded by some as indecisive.

Meanwhile, news of rebellion reached Hispania, and the Hispanic Crown was outraged. They sent 1,000 more soldiers to Florida, aiming to crush this revolution. Meanwhile, rebels popped up in most coastal towns and cities, taking control of major ports. In St. Augustine, the rebels, led by Benjamin Fredrickson, prepared for the return of the Hispanic soldiers. And soon they did, as reinforcements arrived for the Hispanics and they moved south to rebel controlled St. Augustine. They ran into the rebels just north of the city, at the Battle of North St. Augustine. Hmm oth sides took considerable casualties, and the rebels began to fall back to the city. The Hispanics gave chase for a little, but once they had retreated to the city, they dug in for a siege , which lasted for 1 month.

Meanwhile, in Miami, another group of rebel soldiers, led by William Gaye, heard of the siege on St. Augustine. He rounded up his men and prepared to liberate the city from the siege. Before leaving, he heard that the Hispanics burned down a Squaw Town near St. Augustine after the Seminole tribe that lived there refused to aid them, and he wrote to their chief, saying “you have just experienced an unspeakable tragedy, which shows why this territory must be liberated from the tyranny that is the Hispanic Crown.” After the chief received the letter, the tribe went to Miami and agreed to help them kick out the Hispanics.

With that, the group traveled north to St. Augustine, where the siege had went on. The city began to be torn by war, and the surviving rebels trying to survive were beginning to run out of supplies. However, Benjamin Fredrickson continued to hold firm, and refused to surrender. He was confident that help would come, and it eventually did. The rebels led by William Gaye finally arrived from the south, and flanked the Hispanics. The Hispanics took heavy casualties, and they were forced to retreat into the countryside.

After the Hispanic retreat, rebels took control of the Castillo de San Marcos and Fort Mantanzas, securing the protection of St. Augustine. The rebels also took control of Jacksonville to the north , which cut off the Hispanic supply line. Meanwhile, in St. Augustine, the rebels were fortifying the city to prepare for the return of the Hispanic soldiers. However, Benjamin Fredrickson began to question the motive of the rebels, stating “why are we fighting? What do we want out of this? We need something to fight for. And we will fight... for independence.” Benjamin had been the first to verbally support the idea of independence, and the others soon followed. As such, a Declaration of Independence was immediately drafted, and after it was signed, the Republic of Florida was declared, and a hand sewn flag, which was yellow with red lines diagonally forming a cross, was risen over St. Augustine.

Meanwhile, the Hispanics had set up camp in the countryside, and were planning to attack St. Augustine once again . However, in St. Augustine, Benjamin Fredrickson wanted to take the fight to the Hispanics. He knew that they may not be able to survive another attack, and wanted to win the war before it was lost. The others heeded his advice, and Benjamin and William Gaye rounded up their men and headed for the Hispanic encampment. They waited until sunset to attack, and when they did, the Hispanics were caught off guard. They took considerable casualties, and the general had been captured. After his capture, he was taken to Benjamin Fredrickson, who demanded the surrender of the Hispanic soldiers. The general had no other choice but to comply, and peace negotiations began with Hispania.

News of the Hispanic defeat in Florida reached Hispania, and the people had began to give up on the territory. Despite not wanting to, the Hispanic Crown had to negotiate, as the war became increasingly unpopular back home. Eventually, the Treaty of Madrid was signed, in which Florida would officially be granted independence, Hispanic soldiers would be pulled out of Florida, government property of Hispania in Florida would be handed over to Florida, and the mercantilist system would be abolished in Florida.

The “Hermit Republic” Years

After gaining independence from Hispania, and signing the Treaty of Madrid, the Republic of Florida was able to gain international recognition in Europe. Meanwhile, the first election was taking place. Many people wanted Benjamin Fredrickson to be the first president, much like George Washington in America, and after being convinced to run, he won in a landslide. His first act while in office was to officially draft and ratify the Floridian Constitution. He also put a Neutrality Policy in place, in which Florida pretty much cut itself off from the rest of the world. While not everyone agreed with the policy, it did give the newborn Republic a chance to stabilize without getting pulled into conflict. As President, Benjamin Fredrickson also rebuilt the private sector, established domestic trade between districts, signed treaties with the Native American tribes to respect their sovereignty and give them somewhat of a voice in government, reorganized the rebel militias into a real army, put generals in place to lead and train these soldiers, and began to make the economy less reliant on slave labor. After he completed two terms, he retired from public office, clearing the way for someone else to lead.

William Gaye, who had been a Senator, ran for president to succeed President Fredrickson, and he ended up winning the 1796 election. He continued the progress made by the Fredrickson Administration in many areas, most notably upholding the Neutrality Policy. This policy drew some ire from abroad, with an American lawmaker in the Federal Enclave jokingly referring to Florida as the “Hermit Republic”. Despite the criticism, the Neutrality Policy continued to be upheld, and the government remained strictly focused on domestic politics, paying absolutely no attention to world events that didn’t concern them.

After Gaye completed his two terms, his Vice President, Samuel Princeton, ran for president himself, winning the 1804 election. As President, he cut military spending by 30%, continued to gradually make the economy less dependent on slave labor, and slightly increase immigration. However, he was quite corrupt, and once news of his corruption reached the public via whistleblower, he lost his re-election bid, the first President to do so in Florida’s history.

Dewey Adam, the one who beat Princeton in the 1804 elections, continued to uphold Fredricksonian policy, keeping the Neutrality Policy in place, continuing to make the economy less dependent on slave labor by starting a government program to reward farm owners who used paid hands instead of slaves, and increasing economic output. He completed his two terms, and Diego De la Rosa, the first mestizo to run for president, announced his candidacy, and campaigned on the promise of increasing diplomatic ties with Europe and even Asia. This appealed to many voters, and he eventually won the 1812 election.

Present Day

The recently elected Diego De la Rosa plans to increase diplomatic relations with European and Asian nations, secure a foreign backer for his expensive industrial plans, grow the economy, engage in more trade, and build upon some Fredricksonian policies for the economy. While Florida faces quite a few challenges, with the grit and perseverance that Floridians showed during the Floridian Revolution, they will face them head on.

Yes, I'm sorry for the delay, but you don't need to bump it. America as a region is outside of my area of expertise, so Novacom is taking care of the review and he should get back to you shortly.

Speyland, please delete the post you've made in the IC. Regardless of whether it's a vassal state or not, you need to apply for it. Please use the official app format that's linked in the OP, and you can take a look at the apps for the Exarchate of Egypt and the Catepanate of Italy as good examples of what we require from vassal state apps.

Oh, my apologies then. I thought that I don't have to. I have no intention of taking part in this RP anyway, so I'm afraid that I will drop out on this one. I appreciate everyone's offer, though.

Alright, the roleplay has indeed been kinda dead for the past few weeks. People are generally busy in real life with finals coming near, and then those of us in the OP board have either been busy or have had to deal with bigger issues in real life, and haven't been able to take care of things like we should have. So to see what we should do next, we'll be doing a roll call. Those who are only active here and not in the Discord should say so here. We'll wait for two days, and those who don't answer will be presumed as inactive as removed - and we'll see what can be done based on the number of still interested people.

As a heads up we're doing a poll, what will happen are one, perhaps two things, this first poll in which case if a Mixed reboot is gone for, then no need for a second poll, however if the vote is for a full reboot we'll then have a poll for the date for said reboot, Have At It!

We are going to repeat the poll on account of dissatisfaction with the previous choices, confusion, and also because of a small belief that there might have been a few double votes. As the poll says, please mention that you voted either in the Discord group or in the OOC thread so that we can keep count of how many people have voted - there is no need to share what your vote was for unless you want to. The poll will last for 24 hours from the moment it has been posted, and we thank you for your interest.
