Hey Mr. Scandinavia, would your section of Slesvig-Holstein have a large German demographic like irl? Or not?

There will be significant Saxon and Frisian minorities in the region, yes, but the Saxon minority in particular wouldn't be nearly as large as IRL. The economic and political impetus that led to the growth of the German minority in Schleswig wouldn't have existed in this timeline, what with there being a significant counter against the Hanseatic League and the province never being incorporated into the Holy Roman Empire.

I imagine the Danish minority in German-held Holstein is also larger than it was IRL, for much the same reasons.

I think, in a way, the Commonwealth in Hyperborea shares ideological compatibility with both Britain and France. In basic republican principles - liberty, equality, fraternity - it sides with the most radical of the Jacobins and the constitutional monarchism of the French has no great affinity with the autonomous-cooperative model of the Hyperboreans. The Commonwealth still maintains titles of nobility and high office, but the vast majority of them are no longer hereditary. Unlike Britain or Germany, however, the Commonwealth in Hyperborea was not established by violent revolution, but rather its republican model of society evolved quite organically from early medieval tribalism through centuries of quiet evolution. The political turbulence of the British revolution in particular, being both quite recent in history and very violent, is not unlikely to unnerve Commonwealth interests.

The state heavily uses slavery in order to prop up its economy and has enslaved most of the population of France to do so. Within, the society of Burgundy is an unsustainable dystopia, one where even - and in many cases, especially - the Aryan citizen is forced into hard labor. Enforcing a strict policy of state-sanctioned Spartanism, the Ordensstaat seeks to perfect the "Master Race" through trial by horrendous, gruesome fire. Any person not holding up to the standard that the totalitarian regime sets is immediately sent to the death camps, a life sentence of work by the whip with no end in sight besides the unspeakable terrors used by the SS once a worker has outlived usefulness.

Development Description: The nation, due to the absolutely heartless economic doctrine of the SS and economic support from the Großgermanisches Reich, has been able to keep up with most other major powers in the world, to the point of even being able to develop their own nuclear weapons independently by the 1960s.

Army Description : The Burgundian military is one of the best in the world and is heavily integrated into everyday life. Composed of over 40 elite fully mechanised SS divisions, spearheaded by the elite Burgundian Panzer Corps, the strength of this modern force can give an army a run for its money. The soldiers, due to the nature of the Burgundian System, are treated just as harshly as slaves. This is especially true for the French, Walloon and Flemish soldiers in the army who, given the choice of service, slavery or total annihilation, have made their choice to serve in the Burgundian SS. All are put through extreme training regimes that assure only the strongest survive to fight for the glory of the Ordenstaat.
Army Weakness: The Burgundian SS is made up of a large portion of Flemish, French and Walloon soldiers. Though they have little choice but to serve the Ordenstaat, they have little loyalty besides fear of reprisals and therefore could potentially rise up against the Ordenstaat.

National Ambition/Aspirations: STRENG GEHEIM

History: Over a century from now, the Second World War broke out on September 1, 1939, and it was there that began the road of Axis domination. First, Poland fell, then the low countries, then France, then the Balkans. The British were pushed out of Africa by German and Italian forces, who marched through the streets of Alexandria and, with the help of Arab Nationalists, took the Middle East. Then Operation Barbarossa, the largest land invasion in history, began in 1941: with Soviet forces under Premier Nikolai Bukharin overrun after a bloody one year campaign, with the swastika flying over Moscow by 1942.

With the capitulation of the Soviet Union and the destruction of the American Fleet at the Battle of Midway by Japan, the Germans turned their full attention to the stubborn island nation of Britain. The Irish Republican Army, desiring to exploit the opportunity, took over Ireland in a violent coup and let in a wave of Axis troops to invade Britain from the west. The situation for Britain became worse when Operation Sealion came and German forces crossed the channel with the Royal Navy, brought low by defeats in the Mediterranean and constant air attacks by the Luftwaffe, was sidelined.

Yet the British, with the support of American troops, held on and put up a stubborn fight. Just when it looked like another stalemate the likes of WWI would occur, everything changed when a lone long-ranged German bomber, flying all the way from Europe to Japanese bases in Midway, dropped a single payload on Hawaii. The islands were engulfed in a bright flash, as 50,000 Americans would lose their lives to the very first Heisenberg Atomic Device.

The US, fearful of a nuclear strike on the mainland, withdrew from Britain and offered an immediate ceasefire. Though the remaining British fought the Axis stubbornly in the fields, the hills and the very streets of London, all would ultimately be in vain as the sun would finally set on the British Empire.

With that, the old world had fully fallen to the Axis. The Germans formed the Einheit, or Unity, Pakt among its many allies and puppet states, ushering in an age of German hegemony. They immediately sought to bring about their visions of a New European Order per the tenants of National Socialism: however, even in this moment of triumph, the tapestry would begin to unravel.

First was the Atlantropa Project, an attempt to dam the Strait of Gibraltar to drain the Mediterranean to open up more farmland. The project, done without the consent of Germany's Mediterranean allies, predictably ruined their economies as they began to drain the sea, leading to the Italian Empire, Turkey and Iberia abandoning the Einheitpakt and forming their own rival alliance, "The Triumvirate."

Next, under the strain of maintaining such extravagant building projects such as the rebuilding of Berlin into Germania, attempting to rebuild Europe as well as maintaining efforts to exterminate all "subhumans" in their eastern territories, the German economy would collapse in 1950, leading to a decade of economic crisis in Europe.

Just as the situation seemed to be stabilising, a threat from the East pushed back that progress as the remnants of the Red Army formed the West Russian Revolutionary Front, and launched a devastating attack into the Greater German Reich's eastern territories. The West Russian War as it would come to be called, grew bloody as the Wehrmacht struggled to fight against the Russian forces. Things would become only worse as Himmler and the SS, disillusioned by the Economic Collapse of 1950 and believing that National Socialism had become corrupt and decadent, planned to launch a coup.

Fortunately for the Reich, the situation quickly stabilised as the West Russian Revolutionary Front collapsed into a collection of squabbling warlords, and the SS coup was discovered and crushed, with Himmler and many of his followers exiled to their own private fief in France. This fief would come to be called "Ordenstaat Burgundy," where Himmler could apply his own extreme form of National Socialism which would be labelled as the "Burgundian System."

The country was formed to keep Reichsführer-SS Heinrich Himmler happy after he attempted a SS coup in the 1950s, prompted by the domestic instability following the German economic crash. The hope was to keep Himmler from German politics and allow him to entertain his fantasies alone which he accepted. The new country was to be made up of the former area of Reichskommissariat Belgien-Nordfrankreich and the German Military Administration in France which included 'Zone In terdite,' its capital entrenched in Ost-Paris (East Paris).

Government Ideology/Policies : Survival, because being surrounded by potentially hostile powers tends to shift the focus of your outward politics and diplomacy; that isn't all the ideology of survival entails however, it also means the survival of the Empire's ideals and system of governance, as although it may seem as some sort of republic with all people being allowed to elect a candidate, it is also a monarchy, with all its candidates being members of the current ruling family.
Government Focus : Military, economy, and diplomacy focuses are a must for the government of the Empire. Military in that they must be able to fight back their neighbors on even footing, economy as to ensure this even footing can be maintained, and diplomacy to ally with said neighbors and to ensure it becomes uneven in favor of the Wallacho-Polish Empire. Government Description : The evolution of the current Wallacho-Polish government is a strange one, beginning in the 1090s under the House of Basarab and the enactment of "drept heregie" or true heredity, this concept is one of the pillars of the current government, as only members of the current royal family and related branches and cadet houses can be elected, and after election, would need to change their surname into the current royal family's. The elected Imparat then has executive powers as head of the Sfat (Council/cabinet) and gets to create and change the composition of the Sfat.

The Legislature of the Empire is the Grand Sejm, consisting of the Consiliu (upper house) and the Adunare (lower house). The Consiliu consists of a pair of Voivodes from individual Voivodeships, of which there are 12, and therefore 24 Voivodes, which are elected by popular vote. The emperor is to appoint a final 25th Vovoide after these elections, usually a member of the royal family and etc. Each Vovoideship has subunits called Tara, and in total there are 58 Tara, and from these come the members of the Adunare. From each Tara comes a pair of Ban, members of the Adunare. The Ban are elected into the Adunare by popular vote, with the second Ban coming from the second most popular choice. From the Tara there are 116 Ban, with the emperor having to appoint an extra 4 Ban, making the total 120.

Whatever decisions, legislation, laws, and such the Consiliu and Adunare come up with, the Emperor can veto. The only thing the Emperor cannot veto is impeachment, which needs to be supported by 80%+ in the Adunare, and afterwards, to be accepted by the members of the Consiliu. So far, an impeachment has not yet occurred.

Economic Description : Although much of the economic power within the empire has been under the hold of the aristocracy in the early 1500s and before, much of that changed with the eruption of the Great Peasant Wars in 1524, and the famine that occurred just shortly after. Fears of the cooperation of the bourgeoisie and the peasantry grew and forced Imparat Iorghu I to enact a series of reforms to ensure that the bourgeoisie would remain placated, as well as restrictions on grain price regulation by the nobility. This in turn would allow urbanization to develop and slowly increase in at a greater pace later down the line in the 1600s and beyond, as well as help the Empire to begin developing industries.

Even with all this, industrial products within the Empire- with the exception of coal- are a minor but growing part of the Wallacho-Polish economy, with most of said industrial products and their production occurring in the Dniester and Lviv-Lublin Lines. Beyond those, much of the production within the Empire is agricultural, with grain and its related products being the primary crop being traded with the Empire's neighbors. Cattle and its related products are also another major trade of the Empire, along with the fur trade.

Development: Industrializing
Development Description : Surrounded on all sides by industrial powers, check. Said industrial powers might be hostile, check. Can industrialize? Check. Need to do something about it? Check. Although lacking in easily accessible iron, there is an abundance of other resources in the lands of the Empire, most important being coal. Most of the industrialization has been occurring near a line from the Dniester river, to Lviv and Lublin. Areas elsewhere are either fairly undeveloped to being fully agricultural.

Army Description : Surrounded on all sides, by land and sea, and the only truly non-hostile state being that of the Eastern Roman Empire in the south. This along with a bevy of wars with its neighbors as both aggressor and defender has resulted in the Wallacho-Polish army to be a large and well-trained force, with a large emphasis on cavalry forces and the maximization of mobility in general. Recently, a shift towards a division based military has occurred, and has resulted in the creation of an army some 180,000 strong, and divided into 3 Regions: Lithuania, Poland, and Wallachia. Each Region has 3 divisions, totaling 9 divisions of 20,000 all in all. In turn these are further divided into 10 regiments of 2,000; 4 of which are infantry regiments, 3 cavalry regiments, 1 artillery regiments, and 2 support regiments.
Army Weakness : Fresh out of the reorganization and untested, it is unknown what the performance of the new army will be. Then there's the other issues of said army, such as the language barrier between the Wallachians, Polish, and Lithuanians, although the between the former two this issue has been lessened. There are also supporters and officers of the old system that either are simply grumbling to outright uncooperative and obstructive with the new, resulting in some freeze-ups in areas. The over-reliance on overwhelming cavalry is also another issue that needs to be addressed.
Naval Description : The Wallacho-Polish navy contains only of a pair of decent sized fleets on the Baltic and Black Seas: the North and South Fleet respectively, and riverine naval forces. Other than that, its a highly unremarkable branch of the military.
Naval Weakness : Low funding, low ships, low guns, low everything. If there's one word that the Navy can be summed up with, it would be "lack". Then there's the fact that it is bottle-necked by foreign powers; by the fairly amicable Romans in the south by the Bosporus, and by the pagan Scandinavians by the Danish Belts. It is the latter that is the main source of trouble for the Wallacho-Polish navy, as it is there that the feared seamen of the north are found, and even defending against them might be too much of an order for the North Fleet.

National Goals : Reunite with Wallachia or at least draw it into the Empire's sphere; prevent the spread of Republican traditions into the Empire; unify the Polish, Wallachians, and Lithuanians; secure the borders and prevent a two-front war via diplomacy. Summed up in one word: Survive
National Issues : Lithuanians, not even once; Catholic and other religious minorities causing issues; Slow creep of Republicanism into the empire; being surrounded on all fronts by powers with ambiguous opinions on the Empire.

History :

• 9th-10th century: Increased Magyar raids into Vlach lands results in increased movement into Moldavia. Mostly stops after Magyar Christianization, and populations are able to rebound to pre-Magyar populations. Orthodox missionaries going to Moravia are rerouted by Svatopluk I's ascension into Poland instead, and they are able to convert Mieszko to Orthodoxy instead of him converting to Catholicism.
• 1035: Vlach Revolt under Ban Iacob Olténia
• 1036: Establishment of the Banate of Lesser Wallachia after the Vlach Revolt succeeds, Ban Iacob soon gains the moniker of "the Liberator" and after his son's reign, became "the Old Liberator", both him and his son have become the fathers of the Wallachian-Polish Empire alongside Aron VII "the Impaler".
• 1050: Moldavian Revolt in Pecheneg Khanate, Wallachian intervention and subsequent integration of Moldavia, Ban Aron is crowned Domnitor/King Aron I of Wallachia, his actions in the war earn him the moniker of "the Younger Liberator".
• 1051-1052: Invasion of Transylvania, it succeeds and much of Transylvania is integrated.
• 1061-1062: Bela I's reconquest of Transylvania, it succeeds and Transylvania is lost along with Oltenia.
• 1063-1064: Conquest of the Dniester succeeds, resulting in total Wallachian control of the Dniester River
• 1070-1072: 1st Conquest of Red Ruthenia, mostly successful
• 1087-1089: 2nd Conquest of Red Ruthenia, successful
• 1090-1095: Cuman Invasion along with Byzantine Invasion, all of Wallachia is lost and what is left is turned into a tributary, Wallachia's name still remains, which in turn results in the name migrating to OTL Moldavia. These acts under the current Domnitor Iorghu I, otherwise known as "the Unready", causes a revolt of the nobles led by Aron Basarab "the Strong". After the revolt succeeds in 1095, Aron is crowned Aron III and in order to appeal to the rebel nobles, he would establish Wallachia as an elective monarchy, he is however, able to exact concessions from them in the form of "drept heregie", where only members of the current ruling family and any bastards/cadet houses would be able to be elected into the position of Domnitor. Previous ruling dynasties would be excluded from the succession, including his if ever they are deposed in a war.
• 1097-1099: Invasion of Kievan Rus by the Cumans. Aron III comes to assist them, and Wallachian assistance is rewarded by more annexations in Red Ruthenia and some parts of Kiev itself.
• 1112-1237: Filler, further invasions and annexations of Kievan Rus, conflicts with Poles, Hungarians, and Lithuanians
• 1238: The Wallachians accept becoming a tributary of the Mongols in exchange for not being sacked, this allows for the Mongolians to raid further into Europe, with a few raids even reaching Germany.
• 1238-1385: Filler, conflict with Lithuanians, lose some of them, marriages with Polish. Loosening Mongol influence on Wallachia which would lead to its breaking free from them later on.
• 1385-1390: Polish War of Succession, Aron VII disputes the potential Polish-Lithuanian union in early 1385 and goes to war, assisted by the Teutonic Knights who wish to snub the growing power of the Lithuanians. The conflict is extremely bloody on the Lithuanian side as Aron VII tears into every settlement, army, fortification, and farm he finds. His knack for impaling his enemies (which might include civilians depending on his mood) on stakes earning him the moniker of "the Impaler". Hochmeister Konrad Zöllner von Rotenstein would comment on his brutality, saying "We traded an amicable pagan for a Christian demon." The end result was his marriage with the "King"/Queen of Poland, Jadwiga, whom he had 3 sons and 5 daughters with. All this results in an enormous Wallachian-Lithuanian rivalry, with each war between them from this point on seemingly managing to kill civilians one way or another.
• 1401-1444: Reigns of Ladislaw the Bloody and Aron the Great. The former who more or less engaged in brutal brush-fire wars with the Lithuanians, resulting in them being pushed out by both the Teutonic Order and the Wallachians, and the nation breaking free from being a tributary of the Golden Horde with the indirect help of Novgorod- who was pushing the Horde back- also during his reign. All these wars would result in resentment from the Polish nobility, especially with Ladislaw's threats against the Sejm and his promises to dissolve it. Here the latter would thrive in his reign, by soothing the nobility through increasing there powers in some areas, the metaphorical dirt path his predecessors carved out would by fashioned by Aron into a stone way, centralizing the empire in the right ways while decentralizing it in others, and moving the capital to Lvov/Lwow to assist with this. He would also curb the powers of smaller sejmiks by centralizing most of it into a single Sejm, as well as creating the Sejm of Wallachia.
• 1488-1497: Reign of Dumitru V "the Amicable". Under his rule he would do more reforms to the Sejms, and enforce "drept heregie" succession in both kingdoms via concessions. He would also start a war with the Teutonic Order in the latter parts of his reign, taking Samogitia and Courland from them and gaining important Baltic ports. He would also deal with the Cossacks in the south, paving the way for their defeat at the hands of Wallachia-Poland and Novgorod later down the line.
• 1500-1551: Union of Lvov, Polish and Wallachian Sejms are united by Aron IX, who is then crowned Imparat (emperor) by the first session of the new Grand Sejm. Most of the current Empire's governance and succession laws would be established around this time. Reigns of Imparat Aron and Iorghu, the latter of which is named "the Good" posthumously thanks to his sweeping reforms improving the status of the bourgeois.
• 1550s-1650s: The Bloodying of Empire, wars with Novgorod in the east and the HRE in the south more or less commonplace. Alliances with the ERE also happen.
• 1778-1800: German Revolutionary Wars occur, with Wallacho-Poland intervening along with other powers. A series of blunders and stinging sets of failures would see their incursions into the newly-formed United States of Germany be blunted and pushed back. Later intermittent warfare with the new USG results in a ruined Poland, which prompts the wars to stop and forcing the Empire to focus on internal issues.
• 1801-1811: A decade known as "the Reconstruction" begins, as the Wallacho-Polish begin to focus on internal issues instead of meddling in the affairs of its neighbors, as well as repairing Poland.

Religious Description : Orthodoxy is followed by a majority of the population, especially in the island of Luzon where the City of Maynilad/Manila is situated, with significant minorities in the islands of Mindoro and Palawan. Catholicism, the second-largest Christian sect of the islands, is followed in the islands of Cebu and Negros, although with the proclamation of a formal state religion, Orthodoxy is becoming more ascendant. Further south and west, Islam and Animism are dominant, with Sulu being a center of local Islamic learning, with The Crown's lassiez-faire attitudes towards Islam as a whole allowing that status quo to continue - That and the local strongmen of Sulu are needed in future wars plus their piracy undercuts local rivals.

Economic Description : The center of the economy is Maynilad/Manila, a trade nexus where ships from Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and even America come to buy and sell their wares, even as the Kingdom's own vessels go out to do the same in other countries' ports. The center of Manila in turn is the walled district of Intramuros (Latin for 'within the walls), which was given its name when trade relations with the Hispanians were strong. In Intramuros are the artillery foundries, indegenous ironworks, and handgun workshops where European mercenaries and those trained by them create a local supply of weapons, enough to supply 1000 men. Entry into this district is theoretically severely restricted, but these restrictions are hard to enforce due to the fact that tribute and taxes (some in kind) also go within the walls, while the Reyna and Hari frequently open the walls to petitioners.

This model is followed all across the Kingdom, with major cities centered around a military and administrative district walled with rammed earth or stone and trade districts walled with a crude palisade-and-ditch or not walled at all. However, as the economy and available technology advances, several important craftsmen whose jobs do not fit neatly into the military/administration or trade districts, but who live in the latter, have demanded stronger walls to protect them from bandits and pirates, and the Reyna has allowed it as long as they can pay for their construction and upkeep - A concession to the power of the craftsmen.

Below Manila is the province of Cavite, a major center of shipbuilding. There, Hispanian mercenaries and adventurers, as well as a few enterprising deserters, have built up a Naval Yard, a Naval Yard which can produce modern ships for commerce, war, or even both. Chinese, Japanese, and Korean deserters and artisans have also contributed, allowing for further refinements in the shipbuilding process. South of Cavite is Batangas, where Hispanian Cattle live alongside Water Buffalo, and both are exploited for their milk and meat. North of Manila is Bulacan, an agricultural province where the central government is as strong as it is in Manila, and which serves as a breadbasket of the Kingdom, as well as Tarlac and Pampanga, the latter which is ruled by a loyal chief who has turned the province into another center of shipbuilding, but of traditional outrigger boats (some with cannons) instead of 'modern' warships.

Even further north is the province of Pangasinan, where Horses were introduced from Hispania, China, Japan, and the Middle East in order to provide steeds for the local chieftains and later, the Kingdom. In order to ensure that the supply of Horses remains intact, the Reyna and Hari have made sure that the local chieftains are bound by both religion and marriage, with Churches and Monastries being built and endowed in order to further incorporate the local population. Not just that, but large fortifications have been built against Japanese Pirates in Lingayen Gulf, fortifications which not only signal the wealth which the Kingdom can bring to bear but also the coordination and loyalty of its people and their willingness to offer their labor.

Speaking of labor, slavery is common, especially in cases of debt and criminal actions, while slaves can also be taken captive or bought from abroad. However, manumission is just as common, with many slaves being freed after a period as brief as five years or after they've paid their debts, and slaveowners are legally obligated to provide housing, food, and medical care to their 'property'. The center of the slave trade is the Sultanate of Sulu, which has sworn a loose bond of allegiance to the Crown.

In-between Sulu and Manila are Cebu, Negros, and Mindoro, with Cebu being second to Manila/Maynilad as a center of trade and manufacture, able to make its own cannons and semi-modern to modern ships, while Negros is a center of textiles and sugar. Mindoro, meanwhile, is a source of copper, gold, and marble, as well as further agricultural goods. In order to keep the flow of marble to the capital and other cities intact, Royal officials and forces are constantly sent in order to keep the local strongmen loyal, as well as ensure that the local stonecutters have a supply of modern tools for quarrying the stone...

Development: Pre-Industrial.
Development Description : Due to centuries of playing the Hispanians, Japanese, and Koreans against each other, the Kingdom has developed Manila/Maynilad, Cebu, and a handful of other cities into something even a European can admit is 'civilized' (albeit in a way equal to Europe's backwaters). Not merely that, but the central state is trying to increase its power by developing and maintaining roads, aqueducts, and other infrastructure which economically ties the region together and generates profit for all but also requires centralization to maintain.

Army Description : The Army of the Kingdom has 5000 Professional Soldiers with Napoleonic-era Rifles and 10 Modern Artillery Pieces, mostly smoothbores and rockets. This army is supplemented by 30,000 'Urban Militias' from the well-off towns and cities of the Kingdom, which have 50 Modern Artillery Pieces between them and 100 crude cannons like those used in the rest of Southeast Asia. However, the bulk of the ground forces of the Kingdom are 100,000 armed men recruited from local tribes and small villages, many of whom carry only primitive weapons like swords, spears, shields, bows and arrows.

Army Weakness : The majority of the army is primitive in equipment and training, and cannot stand a striaght battle with Europeans or East Asian Nations, and resupply depends on access to European Merchants as well as what local gunsmiths Intramuros and other 'walled districts' can muster...

Naval Description : Thassalocracy is the name of the game in the Kingdom of the Philippines, and so great expense is spent on two 'modern fleets' and a merchant marine which also doubles as auxiliaries and privateers. Actual pirates can also be recruited at need, with the Sultan of Sulu providing them. The Fleets' various ships number thus:

Naval Weakness : The fleet is very expensive, yet the vessels of actual quality number less than the East Asians' and European powers. More to the point, the Japanese territories in East Visayas and most of Mindanao present a strategic risk, prompting expensive investment in defensive works and fortifications in that direction.

History :

• Maynilad is founded in the early 1500s by an expedition from Brunei seeking to spread Islam and gain a greater share of the China Trade (IRL Origins).
• With European Hispanians, as well as increasingly powerful Eastern Nations, eclipsing Muslim influence in the area, the local ruler Cebu, to the south of Maynila agrees to convert to Catholicism in the 1560s (Point of Divergence) in order to gain the support of Hispanian traders and adventurers in a dispute with the Japanese.
• In the 1570s, Maynila follows in Cebu's footsteps, due to there being no Islamic power that can help against Japanese and Peninsular Korean encroachment. The first Christian Church is built in Maynila/Manila and expeditions are brought into quarry stone to build Intramuros, an unprecedented stone-walled city.
• The Early 1600s see growth of power in Hispanian traders, mercenaries, and deserters, and one of them even attempts a coup against the current King/Hari, failing only because of the help of an Eastern Roman/Roman Trader who out of a personal feud with the coup's ringleader, reveals all to the King. This causes an interest in Eastern Roman ways and later, their culture and sect.
• The Mid-1600s see Eastern Roman traders further invited, as well as mercenaries, sailors, priests, and monks. At great expense, a diplomatic expedition is sent to Jerusalem, where the superior splendor of Orthodoxy vis-a-vis Catholicism is made apparent. This was to be the Philippines' 'Vladimir the Great Moment', the moment in which they decided to become Orthodox.
• The formal conversion is made in the last decades of the 1600s, where the current ruler, Reyna Elena, formally converts to Orthodoxy along with many of the nobility, swearing their spiritual allegiance to Constantinople. Elena then takes on the dynastic name 'Nagdilangdilaw', or Born in the Yellow, in order to reflect both Christian and Confucian Imperial Traditions, with slightly greater offense towards the latter.
• The early 1700s are spent at war with the Headhunting tribes of Northern Luzon and the Sultan of Sulu, the latter of which launches a daring raid on Maynilad, burning down everything outside of Intramuros and taking much loot and slaves. Hari/King Leonido, the current ruler, musters a gigantic expedition, which includes Korean-style Hwachas mounted on ships, to burn down Sulu in response.
• In the middle 1700s, Sulu rebuilds, but is no longer able to regain the strength it once had, while Maynilad and Cebu, already closely linked, formally unite as one, with the Reyna of Manila marrying the Hari/King of Cebu, and their firstborn child of whatever gender gaining the titles to both kingdoms.
• In the late 1700s, Another force is sent to force Sulu into vassalage, this time, the carrot is used along with the stick to ensure that Sulu not only complies with Manila and Cebu but also acts as a source of slaves and auxiliaries.
• In the year 1800, the Philippines, now an incredibly wealthy nation, sends an embassy, laden with Pearls, Gold, and Bronze, to the Eastern Roman Empire to lobby the Ecumenical Patriarchate for an autonomous Patriarch, based in Manila. This request is granted, thanks to the embassy giving the Emperor the Pearl of Lao-Tzu, the largest-known pearl in the world.
