Governor Fraser Says: Ban the Poll Tax, Calls it Proof 'Segregationist Power' Hates the White Poor

Answering questions about his civil rights agenda, Governor Fraser of New York Calls for a Ban on Poll Taxes

"...I believe, for example, poll taxes, are one of the greatest proofs that segregationist power despises the white poor as he hates the blacks. The intimidation and the tests that they carry out might be enough to prevent black people from voting, but it fails to stop the white poor, who segregationist power can not bare to see the white poor have have a say in how he is governed. So to block those who are poor and white, segregationist power puts up strict monetary barrier to voting wherever he can. Segregationist power is driven by a sincere belief in the superiority of the white race, but a deep fear of their own mediocrity. Segregationist power knows on a free playing field, despite their history being exploited, even black people could unseat them, nevermind the white poor, of whom they have far less advantage over. They know that should poor whites have a say in government, all the aristocratic and unamerican privileges they've set up for themselves would be at risk and that free competition would sweep them away. An America in a battle for the fate of the world with the totalitarian communist forces of Moscow can not afford coddling mediocrity in high places. We must end all Poll Taxes, at all levels, by constitutional amendment."

REPRESENTATIVE SPEAKS ON RECENT LYNCHING IN ACADIA PARISH
REPRESENTATIVE BROUSSARD LECTURES THE PEOPLE OF ACADIA PARISH

By Tensas Badeaux
January 10, 1959
Acadia- Recently in Acadia Parish, locals happened upon the deceased body of local civil rights activist Gary D. Guidry, who went missing two weeks earlier, after having a row with a white man at the Vermillion Parish nightclub, the Rock-A-Bye. The body seemed to have had lacerations around the wrists and ankles, as well as three bullet holes through the temple, the throat, and the left eye, sources say the body was unrecognizable and treated in the same way as Emmet Till of Money, MS back in '55.

Locals accuse the Ku Klux Klan of this attack and assault and the police arrested three suspects, Jonathan Desourmeaux, Henry O'Malley, and Dudley Willis. A Forked Island resident was a witness to the bar fight, young Hypolite Gaspard saw the fight and had this to say,

"I saw the fight alright, I was right up on the levee over that way fishing for catfish when i heard some whooping and hollering from down by the Rock-A-Bye, I went over yonder to check out the goings-on and alls I could see was a black man getting stuffed in the backseat of a Blue '34 Coupe. I ran home to tell my daddy, and he said that it was probably just a criminal getting arrested by cops, undercover. Here we are, few weeks later, and I'm in the newspaper."

Two of the suspects live in Crowley, and one lives in Maurice, all of them belong to the Ku Klux Klan. The body was found day before yesterday in Bayou Blanc, Representative Hubert Broussard released a statement regarding the incident earlier this morning.

"Louisianans, do not fret. The dead body that was found, was one of a local criminal, a local hoodlum from the slums of Kaplan. The Ku Klux Klan is the real victim here, any time a colored man goes missing or gets himself killed over drug money, the Klan gets the blame. Mr. Desourmeaux, O'Malley, and Willis are good hardworking farmers, who live miles away from Bayou Blanc. I think what we need to do is not arrest innocent men, and instead find the killer, find Mr. Guidry's drug dealer, and put him in jail, not these three law-abiding citizens. I'll be working on a bill that would force police to look into criminals of the victim's own race before they look into the opposite race if the victim is a negro. This is simply to help the police understand and prove that the colored population is not only more violent but more genocidal than the caucasian race."

What the Representative did not tell us, but what the police chief did, was that two of the suspects, Mr. O'Malley and Mr. Willis have former charges for domestic abuse, and Mr. O'Malley has former charges on attempted murder, as he was once caught attempting to strangle a black waitress at the Rock-A-Bye after hours. That charge was dropped, we will continue to dig into this devastating tragedy. The Guidry family requests that in lieu of gifts and flowers, donations be made to the Lafayette Chapter of the NAACP.

OFFICIAL STATEMENT FROM THE NNRC
The National Negro Rights Coalition is saddened and angered to hear of the murder of civil rights activist Gary D. Guidry. We as an organization hereby condemn this act and the people responsible for the murder of a man who simply wished for an America where he is accepted as an equal citizen. We also send our deepest condolences to Guidry's family.

On another topic, the NNRC hereby endorses Chairman James Brown Jr. in his race for US Congress. We are sure that he will bring change for all African-Americans across the country if and when he is elected.

General Jonathan Jackson Campaigns in Arkansas

War Hero, Presidential Nominee Gives Speech to Supporters

In Little Rock, Arkansas, the Former Supreme Commander for the Allied Powers and current presumptive Presidential nominee for the Republican Party, Jonathan Jackson, gave a speech to a hall filled with friends and supporters of the General. Despite his advanced age, the General inspired the crowd with his fiery rhetoric. "My campaign aims to give power back to the people. No longer will the bureaucrats of Washington rob you of your hard-earned money. I will cut the federal income tax and introduce a minimum standard deduction. It is only right that those who sweat and toil all day long get to keep more of their money."

"I am not a politician," the General stated in a speech with populist overtones. "I am military man who has for decades served this great nation. I do not care for politicking and making friendships in DC. I care about serving the American people. I care about growth, jobs and protecting liberty from the Communist menace. As Supreme Commander for the Allied Powers, I beat Imperial Japan. As Commander-in-Chief of America, I shall defeat the Vietnamese Communists. As Leader of the Occupation Forces in Japan, I led Japan - a nation defeated and humiliated - to prosperity and modernity. As President, I shall lead America to further heights of greatness. I will ensure high rates of economic growth and good-paying jobs in the private sector for every American! Instead of looking after useless bureaucrats in DC, I will be looking after the average, hardworking American! Together we can make America even greater and mightier!"

The General also met with Republican party activists in Little Rock, reassuring them that he would do his best to lead the Republican Party to victories in the upcoming elections if he is chosen as nominee. Mr. Jackson also stated that it is very important for the Republican Party to have energetic activists wiling to fight the ideological battle against communism and leftism in public space. The General's campaign manager, James Harrison, is considering creating "Youth for Jackson" groups across the country to connect young activists who support the General and spread conservative ideas in campuses.

Senator Joseph Gorski Warszawski
Home, Philadelphia, PA
January 12th, 1959

He decides to take a break from work on his new bills and read some of the newspapers dropped off this morning. He then begins talking to his wife about the news.

Senator Warzawski: "Its good to see some strong political figures coming out against poll taxes, this barrier has been preventing blacks and the poor from having political power for too long. However this other news is quite worrying, this Representative Hubert Broussard is a real bastard, I have a feeling I may have found a Congressman I dislike even more than Sharp. I am all for cutting the federal income tax, however I do not know how I fell about the minimum standard deduction. This presidential race is really ramping up, I am curious who the other Congressmen will endorse."

His wife smiles and listens intently while reading a book.

Senator Warzawski: "Did you happen to pick up the taaffey for the Senator?

Wife: "Yes love, and I'll come down to D.C. with you to make the Kielbasa for the Senator at the half-house kitchen we donate to every year."

Senator Warzawski: "Thanks love, I am going to spend some time with the kids before we go to D.C."

Sharp goes to Little Rock, dismisses Campaign Manager

Freshly installed Manager Trevor Wilson Chamberlain answers questions from press.

John Pikeman Thatcher, the Campaign Manager for both Presidential "ghost" candidate Joshua Sharp's Senatorial and Presidential races was dismissed from his post early in the morning hours of the 8th of January. A spokesman for the campaign insists that Thatcher is still a member of the campaign staff, just not the overall general manager, categorizing the dismissal as a quote: "reorganization of campaign command because our heads are shoved so far up our a** we can smell our own bullsh**t"

Reportedly, Thatcher has been replaced with loyal Mississippian Trevor Wilson Chamberlain, who serves as Sharp's press secretary when the senator isn't giving statements to the press himself. This comes as Thatcher was allegedly plotting to drag the candidacy of Sharp in a vision more closely aligned with the Democratic loyalty rather than as a member of the Caucasian American Rights Party, a splinter group that would run in the general election as a third party for unpledged electors.

The campaign denies any accusation of dividing the democratic vote under C.A.R.P, arguing that "the democratic party may have abandoned Sharp. Sharp does not abandon the Democratic Party. Sharp apparently likes to refer to himself in third person." He may be endorsed under a joint-ticket with C.A.R.P as the head. However, this action has infuriated upper level donors of the Sharp campaign, who are now wary of donating to a third party spoiler rather than one which would fight hard for the Democratic Nomination in the primary elections. Sharp himself took time away from Washington D.C to campaign in Little Rock, speaking to a crowd of a couple thousand drive-in movie goers with confederate flags unfurled.

"I know I'm just some borin' ass politician, but I'm one with x'perience. I'm one with political know-how and can get sh*t done in Washington D.C. Does General Jackson know how to pass a bill? Does General Jackson have a damn clue what it takes to pass legislation in this country. He cannot simply order people around like it is the military. Jack, this is not the military, this is the federal government, also known as the greatest government on this great earth, with possible exception given to the soviet-I mean the British Union.

I'll finally speak with you about concrete campaign promises that I'll end up breaking once in office. I'm honest, ain't I? Y'all know you can't get everything, but I will promise you these points: One, I will promise you the status-quo in the south will be preserved. I might even attempt to talk with the north in spreading segregation up there. We'll need to get the coloreds out, out out out! If elected, I will appoint justices in our court system, as provided by the constitution once senate confirmation is given out like candy or toilet paper. These justices will be god fearing and state's right loving members of society! Three, I will make sure we confront the commie bastards at every turn, at every corner and at every opportunity. The red menance to our schools in the form of desegregation, as we all know mixing the races is a recipe for communism!

And finally, I will bring up something that is unusual, but appropriate for me. There is this biblical legend out there. It's called the mark of cain. It states that god cursed one race of people for betraying him. I am of the personal belief that there are two heavens, two kingdoms if you will. One for the good white folks that pray to him, the good white folks that do good in this world. There is the second heaven for the coloreds and the blacks. While I would not go so far as to call it a purgatory, I will easily admit that the white man got the better of the two heavens. Why shouldn't we anyways? We came here, we brought the chained masses over from Africa. We emancipated the colored. We made their souls free. The colored should owe us significant amounts for the good we're doing here on earth for them!

Segregation is the moral, and great cornerstone of this state, and every state throughout the Southern United States, all former brothers of the same mother birthed in fire at Fort Sumpter, only to be brutally murdered at Appomattox. However, the war has been over for almost one hundred years now. The unfortunate matter is we have no real first-hand accounts left of the brutality that was a brother's war. I only hope you look to your northern brethren for forgiveness and feel the merciful love as you may spread the most righteous system of governance and moral laws, segregation, up north. That is somethin' I will lobby vigorously in the Senate, and will be my first executive order upon entering the oval office January 20th, 1961!"

The film being shown during the fundraiser was D.W Griffin's Birth of a Nation.

Don't worry Boone. The C.A.R.P is simply tagging along for the ride. When they get to the general election, I'm hoping for my name to appear both on their presidential ticket and the mainstream Democratic one. I am still a committed Democrat. This is simply a band of my supporters endorsing the brilliant efforts of Sharp. There is nothing to worry about Earl.

US RECOGNIZES URRUTIA ADMINISTRATION
SEC. OF STATE (NOT- JOHN DULLES) ADVISES DAVIS TO RECOGNIZE THE NEW CUBAN GOVERNMENT

By Marshall Taylor
January 10, 1959
D.C.- President Henry Davis, after sending support to the NAACP after the brutal murder of Louisiana's Gary Guidry, sent out a press statement regarding this and other issues on the 7th,

"The United States of America has suffered a loss today, any murder is unacceptable, and the murder of Mr. Guidry is unacceptable and the murderers must be caught and placed in a prison. In other news, we have just received word, that the Cuban Revolutionaries, led by Fidel Castro, have defeated the Cuban Government and now take claim to public office. Secretary of State, (Not-John Dulles) has advised me to recognize the Cuban Government, in hopes of sparking a peaceful and friendly relationship. However...there are concerns that the new Cuban Government may become another place in the Western World Occident that seek to tout and spread the disgusting red curtain of communism. We will keep you all up to date and at the first glimpse of a Communist threat, we will sever all ties with Cuba IMMEDIATELY. We will not let the communists make us bow down to them, we will defeat them on all fronts, whether it be Cuba, Vietnam, or the homelands of the Russians themselves. We will win."

After releasing the statement, President Davis allowed us to have a glimpse as he signed the bill designating the date of which he would speak for the State of The Union address. He sent out pens to each one of the Sponsors and Co-Sponsors stating, "It's about time we get this crap over with."

I am Elizabeth Williams formerly Martinez and I represent the 8th Congressional District of the state of Michigan. I send this letter to tell that your family is in the prayers of my family and I as well as the people of Michigan's 8th Congressional District. What happened to Gary was a travesty and a tragedy. 'Young Americans for Liberty' Founded

General Jonathan Jackson Hails Activist Organization

In Little Rock, Arkansas, at a meeting in the home of James Harrison, campaign manager for the presidential campaign of the Former Supreme Commander for the Allied Powers Jonathan Jackson, the activist organization 'Young Americans for Liberty' was founded. The move was expected, as Mr. Harrison had made it no secret that the General desired the creation of a conservative youth activist group. Fifty young people - both from the state of Arkansas and from other states - signed a statement of principles, the 'Liberty Statement'. The statement espouses five core principles:

1. Individual Rights come from God and not from the State
2. There can be no political freedom without economic freedom
3. Government must be strictly limited as defined by the Constitution and the vision of the Founding Fathers
4. The free market is the most desirable economic system
5. Communism cannot simply be contained, it must be completely defeated

The 'Young Americans for Liberty' (YAL for short) is a youth activist, non-profit organization. While it was founded with the blessings and support of General Jonathan Jackson, according to its founders it aims to be an independent conservative activist organization that will 'fight' in campuses and the public space the ideological battle against communism, socialism and liberalism. It remains to be seen if the organization will manage to gain momentum among the youth and if it becomes a sizeable force in American politics.

General Jonathan Jackson Criticizes Reparation Bill

Supports spirit of the bill, but criticizes details

The Former Supreme Commander for the Allied Powers and current presumptive Presidential nominee for the Republican Party, Jonathan Jackson, released a statement about a proposed bill in Congress that would grant 10,000$ to the victims of internment by the U.S. Government during World War II. More specifically, the announcement stated:

"I fully support the need for reparations for those immorally detained by our government during World War II, and would be glad for such a bill to be approved. However, this specific bill is outrageously costly. While many Americans toil all day long in gruesome conditions and barely keep any of their hard-earned money in their pockets, politicians in DC want to give 10,000$ to 120,000 people. That is a total of 1,200,000,000 or close to 1.3% of our entire budget. Everyone can see that while it is morally right to give reparations to those unfortunate people, the amount of dollars allocated towards this effort is disproportionally high, especially when there are American citizens who live at near poverty and are never aided or looked after by the politicians in DC. As President, I pledge to put the welfare of all Americans first, instead of wasting the money of the American taxpayers' like a drunken sailor. I pledge to cut taxes for the average, hard-working American. Because our duty is to ensure the welfare of every American."

Rodger nodded his head “So let me get this straight, you believe that choosing and picking me as a Vice President so early would not be a good idea, and even if you choose me later down the road it would be seen as a partisan move correct?”

"I say picking a Vice President is about the necessity of the moment, I can very well see myself picking you, provided you proved that you appeared to be the most able man for the time, but I'd be making the decision for political reasons if I were to guarantee you selection now."

Rodger looks down at his hands for a while, comprehending what Fraser was saying. Rodger takes out a sheet of paper with pen scribbles reading something about Civil rights, and ‘The Golden Age’
“I quiet well understand now Fraser. I just don’t want to talk about future cooperation however. I want to learn more about each other, I have a vision of America in the 60’s which is vastly different from now. Every politician actually has a vision of America. I want to see how your vision of America compares with mine.... first of all how must we fight the Soviets Fraser? How? I’ll tell you, we must defeat them not with guns and ammo, but with culture and technology. We must bring a golden age, a scientific golden age, we must reach new heights. Trying to stop the spread of communism by starting wars with communist nations like North Vietnam is going to lead to endless conflict. I see a world where there is swift action on Civil rights and in the next 4 years, all African Americans are able to vote freely. I see a world where peace and justice rather than war and expansion is what America is known for. There are record low taxes for the middle class, less government interference , and more freedom. So Fraser would you like to elaborate on your ideal America?”

Senator Warszawski Hits Back
Senator Warszawski Responds to Criticisms of Reparations Bill

By Floyd Timothy
January 11th, 1959
D.C.- Senator Warszawski has decided to respond to the many criticisms thrown at his bill by some prominent Republican figures in a recent interview about the new senator's bill.

"I have great respect for General Jackson, and Senator Fraser. I am glad that General Jackson and I are in agreement that what happened was wrong and needs to be addressed, furthermore I am completely in agreement politicians have for too long been fiscally irresponsible, that the people at the bottom need support and that we need to lower taxes. And when it comes to Senator Fraser, she is a strong woman who is not afraid to back down from a fight when she knows what she is doing is right, however I feel that she has been far to hasty in her opposition to this bill on grounds that I shall address.

Now allow me to address their criticisms of The U.S. Government Internees Reconciliation and Redress Act. It has been over a decade since nearly 120,000 Americans were wronged by this government. And although I am too a fiscal conservative, when it comes to providing just restitution to those who were directly wronged by our government, such restitution can never truly be paid, however by providing this substantial fund to the victims who suffered significant financial and physical loss caused by our government, while also providing a committee in junction with the Attorney General in addressing additional claims of loss, theft and criminal actions on the part of government officials, I believe we can get closer to righting this wrong and all the other wrongs of our government. My team estimated it could take 4-10 years to file all of the claims and give the victims their just restitution. So when individuals point out the possible total cost, they aren't wrong, however their presumption this would occur in one fiscal cycle is false.

Furthermore, allow me to state that when Senator Fraser attempted to frame this as a provocation of other groups and General Jackson attempted to frame it as if as if I have somehow dismissed or ignored the other wrongs by our government against other groups or the general suffering of those impoverished in this country just because I am specifically addressing this wrong with this bill is quite ridiculous. By addressing this specific wrong, I am not ignoring the plight of others who suffer, I have many more bills in the works to address many groups of people that have been wronged and continue to be by our government. As well as bills seeking to address issues affecting all Americans, not just specific groups. This was simply the start. And I don't find provoking a push for just changes as a bad thing, I think that all of these groups that have been and continue to be wronged by our government deserve to have their voices heard and they should be using them. And I think that this bill is the first step towards making this country more just, fair, prosperous and unified.

Lastly, I will gladly work with General Jackson if he becomes president to move our government towards a more fiscally conservative direction, lower taxes, and help the Americans currently suffering at the bottom. And I will gladly work with Senator Fraser on her bill to end poll taxes once and for all. I too want to serve all Americans, and I do not think this bill in anyway contradicts or takes away from that. I want to be able to work with my fellow Republican and even Democratic representatives to make this country a better place, our government a better government and to move this country forward. I hope Senator Fraser, General Jackson, and everyone else who does or seeks to serve our country joins me in achieving this. I pray they reconsider their position on this bill. God Bless this Country and thank you for having me."

Governor Tom and Senator Sofia Fraser are speaking to each other over the telephone, from their Albany and D.C. offices respectively. Eventually the topic of Senator Warszawski's interview comes up:

"[...]You think this Pole got a Jap he's trying to court with this or something? I don't understand what goes on in the mind of colored-lovers such as yourself, so I'd appreciate being enlightened."

"Starry, you're in a bit of a glass house regarding questioning people's attractions."

"Well I don't go around legislating around that, now do I. These liberals, Tom, no sense of strategy or tactics. The segregationists are over in the house trying to ramrod accused blacks through the courts or even expel them to Africa and these fuckwits decide to find the smallest and most alienated minority they can, come up with an insanely expensive plan to address their plight, then make it the center of their civil rights fight."

"Look the man is well meaning, cut him some slack, you can't go around antagonizing every bleeding heart liberal that crosses your path. I'm gonna need their endorsements for the primary."

"You're still planning on holding off until April?"

"Look it's bad enough to run for the presidency from the first couple months of a first term governorship, the least I can do is give the people of New York a budget first."

"Every week you go without an announcement is another week the general gets to march around unopposed..."

"Listen honey, love you, but I got a meeting with the Legislative Assembly leaders in five. If you want to help till the fields for me, go rally people around poll tax abolition, maybe you can trick your old friends at the Daughters of the Confederacy into backing it."

"Oh I was never that bad..."

"Like fuck you weren't."

President Davis sat stoically as the Senator was led into the Oval Office and he sat, looking out the window when she entered, "Have a seat," was all he said,

The President, still turned towards the window, spoke before turning around, "Why did you do it? And don't play dumb, you know exactly what I'm talking about."

"Mr. President, is this about the Redress Act, or...?" Senator Sofia Fraser asks.

"Of course it is, Mrs. Fraser!" Henry shook his head, "That bill isn't going to pass, it is too costly and expensive, but the man proposes an amendment to LOWER the amount, and you TABLE it? What is up with that, woman?"
