The Soul of the Republican Party
Michael Jackson

The battle unfolding before our eyes in the Republican Party, is not a simple contest between three individual politicians. It is rather a battle for the soul of the Republican Party, and for the soul of our grand nation. On the one side, you have two liberal politicians who wish to end whatever pretenses Republicans have of representing the conservatives of this nation. On the other side, you have a man who finally stands up for conservative values. This battle shall determine whether the Republican Party becomes a lite Democratic Party, content with being a center-left alternative to the Democrats' leftism, or if the Republican Party shall return back to its conservative roots and fight back against those who have perverted our Constitution, sacred institutions and traditions.

I believe that the struggle between individualism and collectivism is the most important in the world. This struggle is now unfolding in the Republican Party. Liberals like Governor Fraser want to expand the size and powers of the federal government, to subordinate the individual to the dictates of the government. Children are to be taken care by the state, in the guise of benevolent childcare; the mothers must be sent to work to support an ever expanding state budget. No longer will families raise their children. Individuals who are lazy and immoral will get the same financial benefits as those toiling and sweating. Businesses will have to submit to regulation upon regulation imposed by wise liberals like Governor Fraser.

This is not pursued by accident. Liberalism is piecemeal socialism, and socialism always attacks three institutions: religion, family, and property. Religion, because it offers a rival authority to the State; family, because it means a rival loyalty to the State; property, because it means independence from the State. Governor Fraser, in the guise of progress, attacks religion and tradition. In the guise of welfare, he attacks the nuclear family and pushes women to abandon the raising of their children. In the guise of taking care of the poorest, he attacks private property. The end goal is socialism. Make no mistake.

The attacks of those liberals against 'big corporations' are simply an excuse, to justify their power-grabbing. Here we are, in the century that has seen Lenin, Stalin, Mao, Hitler, and we're still being warned against the 'robber barons' of the 19th century. I don't know that Jay Gould or John D. Rockefeller ever killed anyone; the state though has killed countless people, and yet we're always supposed to remain on guard against these 'greedy villains' of yesteryear. And it is that narrative that is used by liberals to justify their piecemeal socialism and their attacks against the candidacy of General Jonathan Jackson.

Indeed, this man has been accused of all kinds of evil because he wants through tax cuts to incentivize corporations to create jobs. He dares to believe we should give more credit to corporations that peacefully create jobs, instead of expanding the powers of the state, the institution that has murdered millions. But the real reason the candidacy of Mr. Jackson has attracted such attacks is because he is the only Republican candidate who dares to speak up against the expansion of state powers, against the pervesion of our Constitution, against the erosion of our values. He is the only candidate to have addressed the problem of atheism, degeneracy and debauchery that is being promoted to our youth.

Mr. Jackson has stated that we need to promote once again good moral values to our youth. I concur. Conservatives should be adamant about the need for the reappearance of Judeo-Christianity in the public square. He has spoken about the need to reduce the size and scope of government. I concur. Liberty and individualism must prevail, not collectivism and tyranny. For even a democratic government, headed by a President Fraser God forbid, can be tyrannical, since it is the extent, not the source, of government power that impinges on freedom. That's why government must be limited. He has spoken about the need to confront aggressively communist expansionism. I concur. It was the appeasement of idealistic pacifists that brought upon the world the horrors of the second Great War.

General Jonathan Jackson represents the last hope conservatives have of saving the soul of the Republican Party and fighting back against atheism, socialism and collectivism. If the battle is lost, the two major parties of our nation shall be liberal. Our democracy shall consist of choosing if we want big government or even bigger government. It will be the choice between Lenin or Stalin. Only by winning this battle, can we ensure that the American people get a real choice in the elections and that our democracy is preserved.

Sofia and Tom Fraser sat in the one of the living rooms of the New York Executive Mansion, watching their youngest children play with their toys while, while the two of them chatted with each other. Eventually, Tom asked Sofia about the state of her poll tax abolition amendment.

"So, Starry, how's the 24th Amendment doing? Will I get to do a nice press showing, making sure New York is the first in the union to ratify it?"

"Well Tom, unfortunately, it seems despite our best efforts at making this a vote about the right of poor whites to vote rather the right of blacks, it seems the bastard Broussard is hearing voices in his head tell him to oppose it and the Dixiecrats will soon enough remember they hate the blacks more than they love their race, especially the poor."

"Well, that complicates things, might not be able to reach the two-thirds majority is needs then, but will it..."

"Beat a simple majority? Probably, we'll have to see."

"So you remember the contingency?"

"Of course I do, Tom, I became a roller derby phenom for handing out concussions, not taking them."

"Of course, Starry. Well then, you're going to have to be in D.C. when the democrats finally vote on the amendment, just in case enough of them decide to do the dumb thing."

"Aww, but I'll be away from you when your most fun to be around, when you're plotting."

"Ah, but the best part is executing the plot."

Governor Fraser calls rejection of the 24th Amendment a signal that the Democratic Party has abandoned 'poor whites'

Says 'fight against the poll tax' is not over, announces Senator Sofia Fraser's proposing "Voter Rights Enforcement Act' to enforce the 15th amendment

"I have, like many Americans, recently learned about the failure 24th amendment to pass our house of representatives, despite it having made it through the Senate. While this is regrettable, this is, unfortunately, unsurprising. The argument against the poll tax, has always been made acknowledging the reality, that poll taxes were intended to disenfranchise poor whites as well as blacks. It was an artifact of the reality, that the mediocrities that have made into office some parts of the country, feel the need to protect their power by holding down those among poor white and black communities that would surely replace them if given a the opportunity to make their governments represent them, rather than be ruled over as if they were lesser citizens. However, this is by no means the end of our fight against poll taxes and for the full representation of all of citizens in government, regardless of income, race, creed or color. While the 24th amendment failed to win a two thirds majority in the house, it still garnered majority support, meaning that a majority of our representatives would support seeing the end of the poll tax if the opportunity to see it done away with presented it's self. We also know that core of what holds up the poll tax is it's ability to disenfranchise blacks, even as it takes poor whites with it.

Therefore, I announce today, that my wife, Senator Sofia, on her initiative, is ready to present a new proposal, that will undercut the rational that upholds the poll tax. A little under 90 years ago, the United States Congress proposed and the of the union states ratified, the 15th amendment, which declared that the rights of any citizen, regardless of race, color or previous servitude, ought to have the right to vote, while giving the congress the authority to enforce this legislation. Unfortunately, congress has long fallen short of enforcing this amendment. However, Senator Sofia will soon be proposing Voter Rights Enforcement Act, which will, using the the power bestowed by the 15th amendment, protect the right of Americans to vote, regardless of race or color, thereby undermining much of the rational behind poll taxation. This act, by using an existing amendment, only requires a simple majority in both houses to see to it's passage. I implore that the majorities that voted for the abolishment of the poll tax, to stand strong in this conviction and undercut it's purpose and thereby incentivize it's repeal and see to the full enfranchisement of poor whites, by supporting the Voter Rights Enforcement Act.

Rep. Broussard Statement

Image

Hubert Broussard begins to speak in a slow and sad tone, rather than his normal loud and rambunctious and passionate tone of voice.
"Thank y'all for tuning into this broadcast. I just wanted to, uh... explain, my decision, and my call for others to decide along with me. The Amendment proposed by a colleague of mine, Senator Sofia Fraser, was seeking to ban the practice of poll taxation. I was conflicted. My motto is to do what I think my district would want. But... in this case, my district didn't have a say, and I didn't think that I had a say, and that brought me to the conclusion that nobody, had a say."

"It was with a heavy heart that I decided to take the initiative and kill the bill. I, with many colleagues, understood that Americans are smart, the local legislatures and governments are smart, and that throughout the processes of government, a conclusion of an issue shall come about. I think that when Louisiana banned the Poll Tax, we did it on our own accord. We did it because we wanted to. The process of banning a poll tax nationally would mean that power, once bestowed upon the states would be taken away."

"I feel that I did the right thing, keeping power within the grasp of the people, within the grasp of the state legislatures. I oppose the rich autocratic governmental proposals that Senator Fraser puts forth because she is not in touch with the common man. She lives with her husband, in the Governor's Mansion, not in a cottage with 12 family members, so don't let her attempts at populism fool you."

"Populism is the practice of putting power in the reach of the people, and I don't think that taking power away from state governments is in the best interests of the common man. I am opposed to the poll tax, and I support the theory of the Amendment, but by passing the bill we would be setting a standard, a precedent, if you wish, as to the many ways that the federal government could intervene in state matters."

"I am not opposing this Amendment because of racial issues, that can be shown in the fact that I supported Governor Long when he demolished it. I am not opposing this amendment because I have a disdain towards any of my colleagues, and in fact, I approached Representative Douglas about my original opposition to the bill, and I was told to grin and bear it. I will not, and I cannot stand by and watch as people in this congress tear down states' rights like they tore down the Nazis."

"The Nazis were evil, hateful beings, and that is what Republicans think of States Rights. Whilst the Federal Government serves as the Plantation House, and the States serve below as the slaves, the slaves gain a piece of certain knowledge and if pressured, will revolt. Well, I'm here to tell y'all, that the States are starting to see what goes on in congress, and they are getting more and more pressured to revolt as the days go on."

BROUSSARD HINTS AT FUTURE DEBATE

REP. BROUSSARD TALKS ABOUT THE FALSE POPULIST IDEALS THAT THE FRASERS 'TOUT ABOUT'

D.C.- We caught up with Representative Hubert Broussard, a controversial member of the Democratic Party, who recently swapped his vote last moment on a bill thought to pass by enormous margins. Mr. Broussard was purchasing a hot dog when our writer stumbled upon him. He seemed to be happy with the reporter, but disgusted with the hot dog as he spoke,

"Well, I had my reasons. I released a statement, and I did my best to make my final position know by the House as much as possible, so I guess you can say I single-handedly defeated a bill. Take with that what you will."

The Representative refused to speak until he got a Coca Cola, so after he sent an aide to purchase it, he explained his position in more depth,

"I had to do what I thought was right ya know? I know how our votes, our decisions, and our positions today will affect future folks in our positions. I do my duty, I serve my district well, and I just might run for the Senate seat in a couple 'a years. Who knows. What I can tell y'all is that Yankee politics is crooked. Someones always looking for a deal, and someones always getting a deal. Look at that Fraser gal, she's in office because she probably screwed her way into that position. Oh wait! We know that's true because look who her husband is, the Governor! Anyway, i'd be willing to thrash her in a debate anytime. She knows where my office is, and she knows how to contact me. She wants to hide behind her husband in the news, I don't play that game, her husband couldn't save the Amendment, and he won't be able to save her on the debate stage should she agree to one."

After speaking more with us about the 'Fraser Gal' he admitted that he would be willing to have a debate, so long as it was hosted in the South, otherwise, she could make the rules as she saw fit,

"I know the fanny was talkin about me through her husband in the newspaper. Coward, that's what she is, a coward. The wonderful lady from Michigan, Mrs. Williams is a lot nicer and understanding. She isn't afraid to stand up for what she thinks is right. She's got a backbone, and she's strong, the Fraser gal hides behind her husband, even though he probably parades around with women from all over the Big Apple."

We then began to question more into these allegations,

"Look, I like her as a colleague and as a member of the Congress, but her politics are dirtier than the muddy waters of the Mississippi. I bet her brain is so full of that new hair spray that her head is as cloudy as a canal full o' catfish. Her husband on the other hand is the type to roam around, probably had a lay or two with that Marilyn Monroe woman. Judy Garland, Marilyn Monroe, Bette Davis, Joan Crawford, I bet the poor man has a little black book with all their names. Or maybe its Mrs. Fraser, maybe she's the one sleeping around, hell, I bet that's how she got onto her committees as well!"

After he finished his coca-cola and hot dog, he walked away, refusing to comment on any of our other questions.

We've received word that Presidential candidate and Montanan Senator has, in private conversation, revealed thoughts on the recent Republican run of Governor Fraser. An undisclosed source has transcribed Floyd's thought on matter and the political marriage.

"Fraser ain't done a thing by himself, his wife does the work- it's true. Everything he touts as his success, his wife has done. He shouldn't run, in fact I think his wife Sofia should do the running herself. I reckon Sofia should be drafted, it's clear to me that she runs the entire show behind the curtains so why not have the actual brains behind Gov. Fraser do it. Say, who'd you want to see on the newspapers for a couple days - Old Gov. Fraser or the tough woman who's trying to drag his career somewhere. He calls me defeatist for not wanting our boys left on Vietnamese rice farms, so be it, but he's been completely blitzkrieg obliterated by a an ex-Dixiecrat woman. I don't see how this personally defeated man could ever go face to face with a man like Jackson, frankly and sincerely."

"Fundamentally, couples themselves shouldn't be built around power and wealth - call me an old fashioned romanticist but love should be there. I don't see it, don't see their goals are set in the right place."

"Ey- fella, why you've got a notepad out?"

The Sharp Presidential Campaign has released the following flyer for distribution in 11 of the States that formerly made up the Confederate States of America, along with a "limited" release of a couple thousand "prominently wealthy families and people of interest" in New York City. The release in the south has been divided as such: 70% of these flyers are given to families which the Sharp campaign has identified as making more than 200,000 a year. The remaining 30% are handed out to those making between 40 and 50,000 a year. Working with the U.S Postal Service to deliver the flyer. It's message contains a statement and the following imagery from Joshua Sharp.

Folks, Do Y'all remember the past? The days where you didn't see a negro walkin' down the street, but when they were in chains or your property? Ask your great-grandpa or grandpa about it. Hell, maybe ask your father about the hell of reconstruction. Y'all remember when the masses of poor-white folk were disenfranchised. Those were the good old days, the house hold days. Those are days which are rapidly fadin' away.

New change is a foot, and none of it good. Illegal Constitutional Amendments shoved down the throats of the gentlemanly southern states as the negro plots their ascension to ultimate political power! If you want a return to "Normalcy", if you want this return to the good old days of power, white power, you'd be better off shoppin' round somewhere esle to git that good on bargin! Ladhe, he's too liberal, Earl Boone, Boone would be a good choice if not for his weak stance on government interference. The man wants to put in a tax, called the Equity Tax Proposal that rips out the 1% and turns america into a socialist state!

Image

Boone wishes to tax everything that moves and then some! Who would you vote for, the man who takes everything you own and then some, or the man who leaves you with not only your dignity, but the family car, the outhouse, the home and even gives you a little somethin' extra just for bein' rich and contributin' to the ultimate prosperity of Americans?

The Choice next November is clear, Senator Sharp. He's got the legislative experience to see America through the hardest times, and has worked hard in the Senate, hard for the people of his state. He'll extend such love, such tender dedication to duty to the rest of the good white folks of America.

I've been considering a run myself, actually." He thought for a moment, before continuing, "I know we would both be in the same lane in terms of supporters, but I believe even if we both run we can work out a way to ensure that we remain united against them. How about whoever has fewer delegates by the time the convention rolls around removes themselves from the running and gets their delegates to unite with the stronger of us? If I'm behind, I'll give you my delegates, and vice versa."

"See the issue with that, is politics, more than ever, in this age of mass print, color magazines and television, is about selling stories. We might want to pretend that delegates are better than that, that they'll make decisions based on competency and policy, but they're people and as people they are moved by effective story telling and if nothing else they know it's importance for the public in a general election."

"Just yesterday, Jackson took a television interview, in it, he outlined a simplistic agenda, deeply flawed, but if not properly contested, compelling agenda. He is the old, but wise former commander of the allied forces that's going to bring militaristic, no-nonsense determination to a state that he see's as overrun with red tape and pinning down the people and the economy with taxes and and regulations. Then he's going to take that no nonsense attitude to confront the Soviets. That's his story and it's one I see that the conservative faction could very well rally around, seeing that unity alone could easily tip the balance in their favor, particularly if they see an incoherent and muted story running in opposition."

"If both of us run, in addition to that opportunist democrat Bradford down in Pennsylvania, it will create a narrative of a clawing, disorganized liberal faction, that doesn't have the discipline or commitment to it's beliefs to line up behind an candidate worthy of going head to head with an American war hero to make their case. We don't even have the excuse of hailing from different parts of the country and having differences that spring from that. I recognize that it begs the question as to why I don't simply decide to step aside, but there is a reason for that also connected to storytelling. To make the case against someone with the prominence of the general, you need someone who can act as an effective foil, that magnifies his comparative weaknesses."

"I believe I fit that well. One weakness is his age, I can represent a comparative, though sufficiently experienced, youth and vigor, read to lead the nation into a new decade. He is gaffe prone in his speech and imprecise in his communication. I can represent a deliberate and aspirational style. He is man who has worked all his life in government, yet posses a conservative idealism of the private sector and a deep cynicism of the public sector. I have worked in the private and public sector, in addition to explicit private-public partnerships and come to the conclusion that governments can simultaneously be active and responsive and that the private sector for all it's creativity needs to operate within the context of a government that's confident and therefore stable in it's role."

"It is not that I don't trust your competency or worthiness for the Presidency, Senator Stark, my concern is that all things being equal, that alone does not win primary, in which attention is divided. Which brings about the next point I have to make that I alluded to earlier. Firstly, on a very practical level, the papers, radio and television only have so much space to work with. Having both of us and whoever else on the non-conservative side that is harboring an intent to run, split time, is going to benefit the person who the most pre-existing name recognition, which is Jackson and that's without even considering how narratives will form. Secondly, having been a Senator from New York and having the purview of a sitting Governor of New York, I and my team have an intense familiarity with both the national media and the donor circles that operate out here. Being able to translate that directly into a candidacy, rather than simply backing another one, cuts out the middle man and makes these benefits more effective."

"Additionally I believe my chances to put up a strong showing in this primary, are good. Even if I lose and Jackson should win, I remain governor of New York and would have built up a larger national profile, that gives me an even better shot in '64, whether or not Jackson succeeds, or fails in a general election. He is, again an older gentleman, and unlikely to run in '64 whatever the circumstance. Even if I find myself on the outside, looking in, of a Jackson presidency, I have a next step and I will have other's to reach out to and work between now and four years from now. I do not wish to be too blunt, but I suspect that should you find yourself on the periphery this time around, that your next step isn't quite as secure."

Senator Stark thought it over for nearly a minute before responding.

"I see your point of view on this, Governor. We do need a united front, that's correct. Personally, I believe myself to be the best candidate for it, but I won't make any commitment to run until later this year. Now, if you could provide certain... assurances, I could consider clearing the way for you. Governor, if you do succeed in your ambitions, can you make a promise to me that you will twist some arms to give me the position of Senate Leader? We need liberal Republicans in control of all parts of leadership if we want to rein in the conservative elements, and I believe I'm more than capable of the job. If you can promise me that, I'd be willing to step aside and support your campaign."

Reading that Sharp branded him as “socialist” only jade his blood boil hotter. Boone immediately phoned Sharp’s office. “Good morning, old man. This is Senator Boone.”

Senator Sharp sat in his senate office, listening to the complaints of two clientel. The clients were an elderly farming couple that demanded that Sharp do something about hoolagins that were defaming a picket fence. Sharp waited for the old man to finish yapping before smiling.
"Now, y'all tellin' me that they broke the fence and-"
"N-nah, they din't no break no darn fence too badly, just scuffed it."
"So you wanna nab em' in the clink for violatin' yer personal propertee?"
The old woman that sat next to the old guy slowly nodded her head.
"I'd like it if y'oud let their heads roll. I think they're negros. Or they coulda been white."
"Don't you worry, I'll get in touch with the local constable and see to it that he leads a 'proper' investigation against criminal negro activity. What's a man gotta do in this day and age to prevent the African from waltzing in drunk and violatin' the rights of a nice old couple like yerself?! Honestly. Y'all rest easy tonight that they'll be in bars. In the clink. In the stockade!"
With that, the elderly couple turned to each other, relived that they hadn't wasted the time and gas driving up all the way from Mississippi to meet with the Senator. Sharp quite enjoyed meeting with the people from his state.
As the elderly couple left, Sharp was caught off guard with the phone, fumbling with the receiver before putting it to his ear.

"Who the hell is this? Oh, Hey Boone. What do y'all want? Did y'all see that flyer of yours? Pretty damn funny huh? Now, I don't mean to bitch and moan at y'all much, but If I disagree with you and can mock you with a caricature in the flyer, then I'll damn well do it."

Boone wasn’t amused. “You said that I want to turn America into a socialist state. Both of us know that isn’t true, Josh, I’m doing something important here. The party’s been declining since ‘45. Why? ‘Cause we lost Roosevelt, God test his soul. We’ve strayed from that New Deal vision, and then we ended up with eight years of a Republican administration. I’m putting this party back on track, Mr. Sharp. I’m finishing what the Boss started. We’re due for another Houdini in the White House, and a good magician has to derive his power from somewhere. If it’s those yankee elites in New York livin’ high as hogs, I won’t feel an ounce of weight on my conscience... or on my approval ratings among the general public.”, Boone explained, muttering that last bit under his breath. “I hope you understand that I need this platform to unite both sides of our party if we hope to beat those northerners like Jackson and Fraser.”

Interview with James Brown Jr.: Civil Rights Leader and Democratic Candidate for MA-7th in the US House

Was asked about Tax Reform, Vietnam, Welfare Reform, Segregation, the state of the democratic party and it's presidential primary

By Sebastian Grant

"I'm Sebastian Grant. With me is civil rights leader James Brown Jr. who is running to represent Massachusetts’ 7th District in the United States House of Representatives."

"Thanks for having me."

"Let's start out with what might be a tough question. There are many liberals in this state that identify with the Democratic Party, pointing to the legacy of the New Deal, but at the same time there are plenty of Dixiecrats in the south that identify with the Democratic Party, who can point to strong democratic support for recent white supremacist leaning legislation in the House of Representatives. As a Black man and civil rights leader, you have chosen to enter electoral politics as a Democrat, what are your thoughts about this split in the Democratic Party?"

"Well, it's pretty complicated. I have been made aware of some of the racist legislation, like the NRA, and I don't at all support it. This split should be taken seriously, but it doesn't mean that the party is doomed to fail. Like Senator Oswald said in his speech, and i'm paraphrasing, it's America's duty to find a way forward. I believe we will find a way to move forward in this party without people hopping to the GOP. I do not plan on switching parties anytime soon, but I will admit I've peeked at the exit door a few times just this week." James chuckled.

"On to the next question. Senator Floyd Ladhe, the clear front runner in the democratic race to be the party's presidential candidate for the upcoming election, recently made comments in opposition to the United State's participation in the Vietnam conflict, saying, quote 'We need to take a step back' and that 'Vietnam becomes the deathbed of Empires'. Polls seem to suggest that the Vietnam conflict is, currently the issue on a plurality of citizen's minds. Do you agree or disagree with Senator Ladhe's assessment?"

"Not really. I know that lives have been lost in Vietnam, but it will be worth it in the end when communism in Vietnam is destroyed. Everyone deserves a chance at freedom, and that's what we're trying to give Vietnam."

"With that said, polls seem to suggest that around a fifth of democratic voters are undecided in the presidential primaries. Are you satisfied with the choices and if not, what voice do you believe is missing in the democratic race as it stands?"

"To be frank, I am not very satisfied with the current field of candidates. I believe whoever the candidate is needs to fight the issue of Civil Rights head on, and to insure equality for all races. The candidate should bring change, not fight it, like a certain Joshua Sharp."

“Despite the fact it appears not to be an issue of great importance in polling, one of the main topics of discussion on the campaign trail among politicians appears to be the issue of tax reform and how to expand, shrink or otherwise reform federal social programs. General Jackson, for one, has recently proposed a list of tax reforms, along with making gestures towards cutting government spending. What is your position in this debate?"

"Well, military funding definitely shouldn't be cut, considering the war in Vietnam, but other tax cuts could earn my support. The poll tax ban in particular should be outlawed. It discriminates on the Black voter and the poor voter, and voting rights is one of the fundamental rights of all Americans. I've reviewed General Jackson's tax plan, and for the most part, there's not much wrong with it. I think it doesn't address the poll tax enough, and a plan to either significantly reduce or completely eliminate it would have my support."

"How about your position on the welfare, public works and social service proposals currently being considered in congress, like Senator Ladhe's PROGRESS Act, or Senator Fraser's FREE Act and FORTIFY Act?"

"I support efforts to increase the size of the workforce, especially the Black workforce. But I believe that we're not doing enough to guarantee equality in the workforce, which is something I plan to address as a member of the House."

"One last question: As a Civil Rights leader and a black man entering congressional politics, what would you consider to be the single most important civil rights issue that you feel needs to be addressed?"

"I think the biggest is segregation. The premise of 'separate but equal' is a big scam if you ask me. It was actually ruled in Brown v. Board of Education that segregation, in schools at least, was inherently unequal. If it's considered unequal in schools, I don't see why it would be equal anywhere else. It's an unjust, unfair, unequal, evil, and barbaric practice, and it needs to be brought to an end everywhere."

"Well, that'll be all, James Brown Jr., been a pleasure talking with you, good luck in your political endeavors."

“I agree with you on property tax just fine Josh, but listen here,” Boone growled, “You’ll ruin this party if you go around calling any attempt to raise sufficient funds ‘socialism’. You’re all alone in the field on that one, Sharp, and if the polls speak any truth, I’d reckon you don’t have much of a following in monopolizing your positions. Slander that man all you want, but under Roosevelt, and under my Governorship Tennessee got things done. We made progress and my constituents won’t forget it. Now take a good second and try to think of what you have done in your state. I’ll wait. You have nothing to run on, Sharp. You’re riding—clinging off of the flag of Dixie, and you know damn well she deserves more respect than your posturing.”

Boone sighed. “You need to face the realities, Sharpie. You’re sinking in the polls, you’re embarrassing the party and you’re even being primaried for your Senate seat because your constituents are tired of your doin’ nothing. I called you to ask that you desist, because if you don’t I will not hesitate to pry the support of your own state from your frail hands, old man!”, Boone boomed.

Governor Fraser responds during radio interview to recent attacks on his campaign

Claims to be facing 'contradictory attacks from all angles', insists that he is 'unfazed'

"[...]I'm completely unfazed by them. I've faced attacks from Dixiecrats claiming that my Wife, Senator Sofia is a puppet of mine, attacks from the Ladhe Campaign insisting the opposite and claims from the Jackson Campaign, that despite my facing contradictory attacks from all angles, that I am somehow a figure of this nation's political establishment. My response to this all, being a good bipartisan Republican, is to quote of a former Governor of New York: "They are unanimous in their hate for me and I welcome their hatred."

Joshua Sharp winced a little at that last part. The elderly man's ears weren't prepared for such a southern gentlemen to raise his voice... which the senator clearly hadn't bothered to hear himself scream out obscenities at whatever tickled his fancy.
"Sharpie? That's a new one. I like it. But keep with Josh or Sharp, please.. Tough shit Boone. I'd say the entire damn new deal is nothin'g more that unwarranted tramplin' of state's rights! The state can handle herself just fine. If Mississippi needs help like with floodin' then we call on other states to assist us, from one state to another. We handily co-operate with Alabamans and even your brand of Nor' Carolinian Tenneseeian Senagambians on occasion. That's the kind of new deal I'd like. The kind where states leave each other the hell alone, and only help out like a neighbor would to a burnin' buildin'.

Me? I've done loads for Mississippi, Why-I...Uh...Er..."

Senator Sharp rustles through his drawer, looking through it. Boone could hear papers rustling, some unintelligible curse words from the Mississippian senator and the sound of drawers opening before a violent crash was heard on the floor.
"Shit...My Whiskey- Oh, shit, y'ore still listein' one moment, I'm gettin' that paper of details. Bill get me that list I wrote down in the President's office- no not that one, THAT one! You fuckin' dumbass, I'll rip out your fuckin' heart! Thanks bill, much obliged. You're fired, get the hell outta here you dumbass!"

Sharp adjusts his spectacles and squints at the paper.

"I voted FOR the Mutual Security Act, AGAINST the Highway Bill, AGAINST the Agricultural Act of '49 and FOR the communist Control Act. Those are the votes I can think of off the top of my head. Sit on my ass sharp? Please, It's Stingin' Sharp! I do lots for my state, just not a whole lot bill wise. I'm not the kind of senator who Works on individual legislation, I'm the kind of senator who Votes on legislation.

You will NOT bully me. Broussard learned that the hard way. I thought someone of such stature and grace would have picked up a few pointers from that weird old bastard. I do things the Sharp Way. If I want to call you a goddamned socialist, I'll call you worse! If I'm thinkin of swappin' my party allegiance to either the Republicans or joinin' up the White-Rights Party JUST to piss Y'ALL off! To hell with my committee assignments."

After a few moments, sharp calmed himself down, speaking less loudly now.
"Just Fuckin with YA! I won't abandon the Democratic Party, unless the-wait, you've heard the rumors? Are they true? For hells sakes, the last thing I'll need is to worry about the real election in Mississippi come August or September. Fuckin' Fredricks ruinin' lives in Mississippi. I've been the only one givin' a damn bout Mississippi. That governors an asshole. He don't give a shit bout 'sippi. I give plenty of shits 'bout 'sippi. I love me some 'sippi, and Onions. Damn Missisisppi Onions are good. However, I ain't doin' nothin that'll seem to please you, Commie Boone!"

Boone sat stone-faced as he heard the commotion going on through the other end of the telephone. ‘The blithering idiot...’, he thought. After gleaning little meaning from Sharp’s rant, Boone figured he’d just hang up then and there. And then he heard that last sentence, and the words ‘Commie Boone’. The rusty wire that held the cork which kept the anger in snapped. Boone spoke measuredly, and with a cold weight.

“Then I’ll run you out of this race, and I’ll get Fredricks to run you out of your seat. It’s been a long marathon, Sharpie, and we both know you could use the rest. Reconsider before it’s too late... it don’t take long for me to send the dogs a-runnin’, and they’ll catch you fast.”, he seethed, before violently slamming the phone into the receiver. Boone’s line hung up.

It's an unjust, unfair, unequal, evil, and barbaric practice, and it needs to be brought to an end everywhere."

"Well, that'll be all, James Brown Jr., been a pleasure talking with you, good luck in your political endeavors."

Richard Douglas sat in his congressional office reading over an interview the Boston Daily Globe had with James Brown Jr. He took a liking to Brown, though he thought his economic philosophy was just a little bit too conservative and friendly to corporations. But that didn't really matter too much to him, the Democrats needed a breakthrough in New England, and in his mind Brown was the right candidate, better and visible than the other candidates for his districts that's for sure. He was also colored, not mention a Civil Rights activist, which would reaffirm the Democrats commitment against segregation, among Northerners at least, Northern Liberal Democrats. He was what some might call a star candidate, and one that Douglas thought he could get behind. So he gave him a call.

Senator Sofia Fraser: 'open to having a debate' about poll taxes with Representative Broussard 'despite his unpleasantness'

During an Interview, Senator Sofia Fraser claims Dixiecrats are signaling they 'want to keep the option of further disenfranchisement of poor whites open' in their rejection of the Poll Tax Abolition Amendment, Willing to have debate in Charlotte

"As an advocate for poor whites to have a say in their government without having to face the obstacle of a poll tax intended to present a barrier to their being represented and as someone that see's it as an utter shame that the overwhelmingly supported 24th amendment to abolish poll taxation was rejected by Dixiecrats who want to keep the option of further disenfranchisement of poor whites open to protect their political position should it come under threat, I am open to having a debate over the subject with Representative Broussard, despite his unpleasantness. While I am willing to agree to having it in the south, the nature of the utterly ridiculous accusations he's made against my husband and myself make it such that I'd only agree to such a debate taking place in my home state of North Carolina and home town of Charlotte.

After seeing the article, Hubert smiled as he dialed out the Senators phone number, and waited for an answer,
"Yankee lady? Shrewd old hag? Senator Fraser? That you on the other end of my black slim private line telephone?" Broussard asked,

"You must not have been raised too well, no clue how to respect your elders. Anyway, I saw that you might be willing to debate me in North Carolina. I just wanted to iron out all the details. I ain't got no plans to lose the debate, and I just want to make things as comfortable for ya as possible."

"Oh we'll see." Broussard said with a sly smile, "So, name a date and I'll get the rest of the details done. Also, who's paying?"
