If you want to get in on congressional action, we really need more representatives, and I personally have no issue with letting you app as a Rep who is the son of Jackson but idk why you'd want to have 2 non officeholder characters.

True, but I believe that, regardless if it can be implemented or not (it is debatable), that any attacks against Jackson by those who argue that it is free speech will be more than compensated by people who will rally around a narrative of "defending the dignity of our flag and troops". Jackson bets that cultural conservatives will rally around him. At the same time, he will not overdo it, and will focus more on Vietnam and taxation in next speeches to not scare off moderates. Give a wink to cultural conservatives, move on into more broadly popular policies, and then after a few speeches give another wink. And so on.

Then Sharp would just have to threaten enough southern delegations for third place if Sharp gets up to the top three. I believe that the Top three in electoral votes go to the House to decide who gets the presidency, while in the Senate it's just the top two for V.P.
