I will say, that as I would have had a conflict of interest determining the results of the congress votes on my bills, I did not determine them myself obviously and I can say, I am just as surprised at the results as you are.

probably due to the terrible job the house liberals did opposing it, no offense.

when bills go through we take both the players answers and the makeup of the congress into consideration, your votes matter it's just that sometimes we take other things into account. Don't worry the chances of it passing the senate is slim and an even slimmer chance President Davis signs it

There was one player aye, and since there was no clear and formulated opposition, I think it was determined that NPC Representatives would have voted in favor, simply due to lack of proper arguments.

But the entire republicans would vote against it likely and many democrats too, which would mean that it would probably die wouldn't it?

and I do have to be transparent and say that one of the reason I went with the option of the bill passing is that it adds a little spice to the rp, but that was not the only reason.

In relation, please TG me or Louisianan any bills that you have presented to the senate/house (and specify which branch) even if they have passed. I am going to make a docket on the OP page so everyone can see what bills are being discussed/passed

Congressional Note

In the case that your character is anxious about voting on a specific bill, he/she can motion to bring said bill to the floor, or motion to introduce a certain bill, by moving along with the docket, we are moving just down the line in order, and there is nothing wrong with that, but I just wanted to make sure everyone knows about that procedure. Also, if you google house or senate procedures, I'm sure you could find some 'easter eggs' you can use to halt congressional progress or speed it up. ;)

Quick note on the committee, it's probably just going to be Senator Sharp publicly bitching at President Davis. It's conclusions won't have any real legal weight behind whatever senile ramblings the old man does. It's best for the President to ignore it, or maybe take a pot-shot at Sharp for launching the committee. What I'm expecting is that Broussard and Boone decline and it's just Sharp all alone.

It's just a way for Sharp to say "I'm attackin' the president" to his constituents while also filing out a personal grudge to the man. The "committee" will just be Sharp looking through the White House trash for something incriminating because he's overtly partisan.

If the OP has an issue with this, I'll remove it.

I'm fine with it, but if you wish to construct a semi-real committee, it'd have to go through congress. I will also say, in 1959, it was pretty frowned upon to make wild accusations like the president is cheating on his wife, and since we don't allow cheat edits, it will have consequences in both Sharps presidential and Senatorial campaigns.

Ah, now that's more interesting... maybe Sharp could launch an actual investigation, maybe have Broussard tag along just to make it a "Committee." Sharp's gettin' really worried about his senate and presidential campaigns, so he's trying to poke at the President to earn some easy partisan points in Mississippi and in the deep south as a whole.

We'll see about Broussard tagging along, Louisiana likes Davis, so Broussard steers clear of that topic.

Welp looks like it'll just be one old man doing all the investigating.

Time to find a magnifying glass and hire some hound dogs for sniffing.
I can see the political cartoon now, a mother and daughter walk past a man dumpster diving, talking to himself, the daughter says
"Mommy, is that man insane?"
the man then says "I'VE GOT YOU NOW DAVIS, YOU NEVER PAID YOUR DRYCLEANING RECEPIT!"
"No dear, that man is Joshua Sharp."

Ooh... that is a pretty hefty portion of the voters who are dissatisfied with their options on the Democratic field. I’m generally cautious about polls, but this is pretty significant.

Also, I’m curious if anyone would be interested in interviewing Governor Thomas L. Stoltzman. We could exchange the group of questions and then the answers over telegram.

It's difficult to tell anything because it's just a number, there are all sorts of interpretations for it that I could pull from the top of my head but they're not backed up directly by the poll.

Republicans aren't that swell either, just got more undecideds

My guess is that the Dem field is more volatile

Interesting poll. It seems Jackson shall pivot to talking a lot about Vietnam and his wartime record.

Also not too worried about the dissatisfied and undecided numbers much. I guess that a) a lot of them are dissatisfied with the liberal/moderate candidate in the race (Bradford) I assume, 2) any conservative primary voters dissatisfied with Jackson don't have much of a choice, since all other candidates (both Bradford and Fraser [when he declares]) are liberals, so they are going to be supporting Jackson anyway.

With Bradford and Fraser splitting up the liberal wing of the party, all Jackson needs to do to win is to keep conservatives united.

Matamoros might be changing his party affiliation after this bill was passed in the house. He doesn't see the Democrats as fighting for Civil Rights like they once did, but instead corrupt and racist like Broussard. I don't know yet cause I kinda want to make it to the DNC to push for a moderate/liberal, but if someone like Sharp wins then he is definitely not looking favorably at the Democrats.

And succeed at proposing policies that don't spit on conservative priorities, one doesn't win a faction's votes only by identifying with them.

Good thing then that 80-85% of what Jackson proposes align with the conservative agenda.
