So you're giving up having him be a senate candidate? I think the Massachusetts senate seat is totally winnable, as a republican, at least.

He's a democrat though. Plus, we need more representatives anyway.

So in the bill format, you can basically say its an Amendmant to the Constitution, then explain it, or you can go find the real 23rd amendment and copy and paste the exact text into the bill format. To find co-sponsors you can simply ask on the OOC if any other characters would be interested. Then you propose it like Stark proposed the current resolution

Makes sense. Thank you.

On that note, if there is anybody who, in the bipartisanship that was the real 23rd amendment, would like to co-sponsor said amendment please do say.

*I am also tempted to smack on the District of Columbia Voting Rights Amendment with it so they get representation in Congress without being a state, which passed irl in the 70's but failed to be ratified by the states in time. If anyone has opinions on that do let me know if you would also support it. And do keep in mind that at this point, D.C. was considered a "swing" city. *

Wiki example: "Additionally, while many of the people leading the push were liberal Democrats, the District of Columbia in the 1950s was fairly balanced in its potential voting impact; Democrats had only a slight edge over Republicans, although district Republicans in the 1950s were liberal by national standards. Thus, an amendment to grant the district increased voting powers was able to gain bipartisan support."

You'll have to make him a Dem. Independents didn't really get much attention.

Once I get accepted, Rodgers may run on a campaign (yep Rodgers Is gonna go for the white house in 1960 )based on making D.C being able to have representation, as well as bipartisanship, and scientific advancement (Rodgers prefers having a cultural/science war with USSR and would rather destroy the USSR from within, rather than trying to stop the spread.)

I could in on this - since there is an historical precedent and I don't see why we can't push for a little but more equality up in here. Buy my character a coffee and convince him - and he will definitely be interested.

NS Nation Name: Republic of Deblar
Character Name: James Brown Jr.
Character Gender: Male
Character Age: 34
Character Height: 6'0"
Character Weight: 198
Character Position/Role/Job: Civil Rights Activist, Chairman of the National Negro Rights Coalition(NNRC), US House of Representatives Candidate (MA-District 7)
Appearance:
Character State of Origin: Louisiana
Character State of Residence: Massachusetts
Character Party Affiliation: Democrat
Main Strengths: Passionate, Honest, Appealing to the Black Minority
Main Weaknesses: Has Anger Issues, Hated by Most Whites,
Biography: (Minimum 2-3 paragraphs)
James Brown Jr. was born on July 11, 1925 in New Orleans, Louisiana to Matilda and James Brown Sr. When James Jr. was only 4 years old, his father tragically died in a car accident. His devastated mother packed up the family and they moved up North to East Chicago, Indiana. When growing up, James Jr. started to notice the injustices that other Blacks were facing across the country, and often asked his school teachers why this was so, which drew ire from his fellow White classmates. In middle school, James got into a fight with a White classmate(which he won, by the way) and ended up getting expelled. Afterwards, his mother sent him to a school in Chicago, where he noticed that the school was underfunded compared to his old school. He finished his education and went to Perdue University and earned a degree in Business Management.

After college, James Jr. moved to Boston, where he met his future wife, Cora Williams. While living in Boston, he also started his own bike shop. He continued to notice inequalities Blacks faced across the country, and often expressed his displeasure at this privately with his peers. Otherwise, he lived a rather quite life up until 1955, when Emmett Till was murdered. When this happened, James was furious, especially when he found out Emmett's murderers got off scot-free. He came together with other like minded Black people from across the country and formed the National Negro Rights Coalition, in which James was made Chairman. As Chairman of the NNRC, he often spoke at rallies with passionate speeches. At one rally in Detroit, Michigan, he spoke "...this country must be transformed into a place where Blacks and Whites can peacefully coexist, and I will not rest until that dream is realized.". On January 1st, he announced his candidacy for Representative of the Boston area to a crowd of supporters in Boston.
Other Info: James inherited his father's passion and fighting attitude(and his anger issues). He's mostly like Malcolm X, but he has MLK-like qualities as well, such as he prefers peaceful protest, but stresses that "...equality must be achieved by any means possible.". He's married with 2 children, and one more on the way.

We've got a lot of Democrats I see. Though it could be a good thing for Jackson, since less antagonism means he is more likely to get the nomination.

BTW, if you are moderate Republican and younger than 65-ish, do call Jackson. He would be interested in Republicans who are more moderate and younger for VP Office, in order to maintain bridges with the moderate wing and unify the party after getting the nomination. 8)

I wouldn't start searching for a VP yet. That doesn't come into play until the true campaigning season which is early to mid 1960

Character State of Residence: Pennsylvania
Character Party Affiliation: Democrat
Main Strengths: Pacifist, Persistent, Communicative, energetic, caring
Main Weaknesses: Naive, Illogical, Overthinking, Timid
Biography: (Minimum 2-3 paragraphs)

Rodger Kerry Bradford (or as his Friends call him Rodger "Caring" Bradford) was born in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, at Mercy Hospital in the year 1917, January 25th. His parents, Stanley Bradford and Hellen Bradford was a working-class family, with his father working at the Coal mines and his mother who took care of Rodger and his two older brothers, Daney, and Samuel who were 5 when Rodger was born. Life was good for the Bradfords until the great depression hit in 1930. Money suddenly became very tight and Rodger's mother, who had experience as a nurse, went back to her medical career. This allowed the Bradfords to keep their home and be able to afford their many luxuries.

The day after Rodger celebrated his 8th birthday, he immediately applied to become a paperboy and would spend the next 8 years as a paperboy, getting paid a decent amount. When given the option on whether to do his routes really early or really late, Rodger preferred late, as early in the morning, his family attended a Quaker church. There at church, Rodger was taught that men and women were equals, native Americans are just as human as us, and racism and segregation were bad. Growing up as a Quaker changed Rodger substantially, and forever set his views on segearation and politics.

Rodger was a straight-A student and was quite quiet in class. However, outside of school he often got into fights with his friends, gaining a reputation as a troublemaker and a problem to public safety. That was until his father saw that Rodger was causing lots of trouble around Pittsburgh. Instead of getting mad at his son, he talked to him and said some words that stuck with Rodger "Those who live by violence die by it..." These words both terrified him and forced him to get his act straight.

After graduating High School at 16 (after meeting all the needed credits) Rodger enrolled at the University of Pennsylvania, where he studied Psychology, and eventually earned a Doctorates degree at the age of 24. At this time tensions were rising and when the Japanese bombed Peral Harbro, Rodger thought it was his duty to serve his country. However, he promised himself that he would only treat sick and wounded soldiers and to never kill.

Rodger flew overseas to Germany, where he worked in warzones to treat soldiers in the middle of combat. Rodgers higher-ups offered to give Rodger a gun, which he refused saying "I would rather die as an innocent than live with the blood of a fellow man." Rodger found himself in many situations and saw many scary things, including many of his fellow-men getting killed in front of his eyes. He saw terrible mutilations, fallen limbs, and much violence, the memories seemed to have always stuck with him. This was only intensified when he saw the Concretion camps the Nazis built after the liberation of the camps.

When the war ended, Rodger was more than happy to go back and became somewhat of a hero to many of his closest colleagues, as he saves many of their lives from peril. Rodger himself was quite humbled about his military experience and never really liked talking about it, as he would try to avoid anyone who would mention it to him. Rodger got his dream job as a School Psychologist and often helped kids who had mental disabilities. Rodger enjoyed this job, and it was where Rodger found Jamie, his future wife. They married in 1947, March 5, and bought a two-story home in the suburbs of Pittsburgh. Rodgers enjoyed this "simple life" ( as he called it). That was until one of his lifelong friends who served alongside him, Henry Lincoln, suggested that Rodgers who has quite popular in Pittsburgh, to run for governor. Rodgers was hesitant at first as he felt he wasn't the type of person to get into politics. However, at the begging of Linclon, Rodgers gave in and ran in 1954 as a democrat. He won Pennsylvania by 55% of the vote. Rodgers stood on a platform of science, peace, and was an advocate for the rights of African Americans. He fact Rodger publicly stated that the democratic party must "reform and become the party of the Blacks, not just the rich southern whites. Then this party could be great and grand." His moderate stance and ability to cooperate caught the attention of Republicans in Pennsylvania, which allowed Rodger to get another win kickstarting his second term as Governor.

Other Info: Is a Quaker, is against Segeration, is against the Vietnam War, related to ( far relations but still a good chunk) a native American and an African American distantly. Has three sons and is married.

Not yet, I'm having the other OP's review it first. Brown got in easily because he is a candidate, not an incumbent.

I've been thinking... Jackson wrote an autobiography (as I stated in my app). Could he sell the rights to turn this autobiography into a movie to some company? A film about Jackson and the Pacific War could go a long way to make my candidacy even more popular (especially if played by a popular actor).

Boone wants to meet with Sharp soon to secure his endorsement. Any other Democrats are also welcome to meet with Boone, it can’t hurt to sound things out.

His VP pick won’t come until he wins the nomination, assuming he does which is a big assumption, but right now the only person he would consider would be Senator Lahde, who would secure the labor unions, the liberal wing of the party, and possibly sway the Mid-Western Farm States, while also not alienating the Dixiecrats as he isn’t a hardcore anti-segregationist like all the other Northern Democrats. (I’m aware he supports anti-segregation legislation, but it was only briefly mentioned in the app so I’m assuming he isn’t overly outspoken on the issue to the point of being demonized in the South.)

Where is the horse gone? Where the warrior?
Where is the treasure-giver? Where are the seats at the feast?
Where are the revels in the hall?
Alas for the bright cup! Alas for the mailed warrior!
Alas for the splendour of the prince!
How that time has passed away, dark under the cover of night, as if it never were.

It's the 50s....so I doubt it. Writing books before your candidacy was pretty recent if I am correct.

Yes, though the book was more of a war memoir (like the one authored by WWII generals in rl) than candidacy autobiography.
