So basically, as a governor, your obligations would kind of be similar to the President, except on a much smaller scale. You would basically control legislation in your state and you would have press conferences and you can release little news articles detailing what is going on in your state legislature, just run it by us before you do anything like that because we don't want your state passing a law saying gay marriage is alright in 1959 you know? You are basically in full control of a state, you won't be able to legislate the whole US though, but you will be able to apply for a second character once you do enough with your first one.

Biography:
Other Info:

Born January 4th 1910 in South Dakota, during one of his father's business trip, Floyd was brought up in the wealthy Lahde family that had arrived from Denmark in the mid 1830s. Originally, the Lahde's were agricultural landowners in Europe and had deviated to owning and operating copper mining facilities when immigrating to Montana. In 1908, Elias Lahde sold his mining rights and facilities to begin Lahde's Manufacturing Company that mainly focused on small arms and munitions. Floyd lived a privileged life and in some ways was spoiled, he had been given the opportunity to attend a Jesuit boarding school named Georgetown Preparatory School where he often disobeyed teachers and often times socialised with others instead of learning. He later became a student in the private Columbia University, studying law, which he dropped out of in favour of living in upper-class social circles in a select few American cities.

When he reached 24 years of age in 1934 his already aged father passed away leaving him as the sole owner and manager of Lahde's Manufacturing Company, he had minimal experience or knowledge of what exactly he had to do so he gave greater responsibilities to a select few elderly advisors and operators that were employed by his father. While the company saw minimal growth, Floyd was given even more freedoms to engage in his own entertainment and partying. His Montana estate often become the centre of upper-class get-togethers, often times involving opioids and great amounts of booze. Floyd's lifestyle and party-going slowly started to seep into the public eye through newspaper editorials and early tabloids, his 1936 marriage to actress Charlotte Mills was brought to scrutiny when photos emerged of Floyd entertaining other women's attentions in restaurants and public spaces. Floyd's marriage was already a shock, as some speculated that Charlotte was pregnant before the marriage ceremony. Throughout the period, he was often times engaged in heavy drinking in private and developed a habit of having a few shots a day. Funnily enough, despite the negative representations by the press, Floyd's debauchery had secured long lasting ties to some journalists and editors in high ranking positions as he had given them a great amount of content.

Due to the Selective Training and Service Act of 1940, Floyd was enlisted in the United States Armed Forces and spent a year in training. During this time he was forced to toughen up and battle his own addiction, one which had mostly had gone as the 1941 Pearl Harbour attack arrived. As the U.S entered conflict, he was assigned to 25th Infantry Division 'Tropic Lightning' which entered conflict in the Japanese theatre of war. He fought through gruelling conditions, seeing his comrades come and go through injuries and death, which mostly humbled him and melted some his ego-centrism. At home, his company was being managed fully in his absence which resulted in exploitative war contracts being signed with the U.S Government. Lahde's Manufactuirng Company was overcharging the Government in some deliveries, defending themselves with contract obligations and minor legal loopholes. In 1942, due to exceptional dedication to the campaign and orders, Lahde was assigned as a Private First Class. In 1944, a small shell fragment hit his leg which forced him to return home. When had settled back in, he had found that some his nephews and relatives in the Lahde family had intermarried and supported the German occupation of Denmark which caused controversy.

With newfound perspective, Floyd took direct charge of his company in 1945 and began steering it himself. He opened new facilities in Montana, signed new contracts and monitored the industry. His interest also resulted in him financing some of Montana's labour unions, starting with the Butte Machinists Union in 1947. His support of labour unions created a mutual relationship, one which he would use for his campaign for the Senate later. In 1949 he began writing opinion pieces and hosting radio talks that criticised such things cultural censorship and segregation, establishing himself as a firm liberal figure.

In 1954, using his liberal opinions on supporting such things as social security supporting colleges with extra funding, Lahde announced a run for the senator in Montana as a retiring Democrat was leaving. The elections was heavily contentious as Lahde's Republican opponent poked holes through his moral beliefs and past, something which he tried countered by highlighting his past in the military and his ties with Montana's labourers and workers. Floyd won only with 50.38% of the vote, 114,591 votes cast for him in total, due to the fierce opposition he received. Since then Floyd has used his position as a platform to put forward Civil Rights proposals, supplementing oil resources with atomic energy and standing against the threat of Communism.

Character Information Sheet

NS Nation Name: Cybernetic Socialist Republics
Character Name: Tom Fraser
Character Gender: Male
Character Age: 44
Character Height: 6'3
Character Weight: 200 Pounds
Character Position/Role/Job:

Junior Executive at U.S. Steel (1937-1942)

Coordinator of Inter-American Affairs (1940-1942)

U.S. Naval Reserve (1942-)
  • Lieutenant Junior Grade (1942-43)
  • Lieutenant (1943-45)
  • Lieutenant Commander (1945-53)
  • Commander (1953-)

Senior Executive at Ford Motor Company (1946-1952)

Class 1 Senator from New York (1953-1959)

Governor of New York (1959-)

Appearance: (Image)
Character State of Origin: Pittsburg, Pennsylvania
Character State of Residence: New York
Character Party Affiliation: Republican (1952-

Main Strengths:

Anti-Totalitarian Warrior:

Took the job to become Coordinator of Inter-American Affairs after seeing the tentacles of Nazism and fascism spread into Latin America and signed up to fight for his country through the U.S. Naval Reserve when Pearl Harbor was attacked. At the conclusion of WW2, he joined the Ford Motor Company to fight "Red Fascism" on the economic front and in congress he stood in staunch opposition to the spread of Bolshevik tyranny and backed both foreign aid and military interventions

Progressive Hamiltonian:

Believes in a strong federal government capable of guiding economic development through supporting the growth of big business and industry, with any efforts to prevent abuses being regulatory, rather than anti-monopoly and protecting the "little guy" through social programs rather than restricting the expansion and power of business. Also supports assertive federal civil rights regulation as well and is generally unopposed to expansion of executive power that occurred under FDR. Supported by Liberals and progressives in both parties and respected by moderates.

Charismatic Communicator:

From Academics, to Business to Politics, Tom Fraser has always been an effective and charismatic communicator, capable of arousing appropriate emotions within a variety of settings and knowing how to reach people. Has a knack for changing his vocabulary depending on the audience. Is also more than capable of allowing listeners to come to the conclusions that he wants without having to be explicit about what he supports. Is also very adept at avoiding gasps and talking around issues he rather not address.

Main Weaknesses:

Despised by Dixecrats:

Is utterly despised by dixecrats to the point that they regularly insist that he is a closet communist. While most treat these conspiracies' as ridiculous, there is a growing number of those on the far-right who treat these accusations as legitimate.

Paranoid:

His great ambition to eventually rise to the presidency has lead him to see conspiracies against him all around him, some true and others merely exaggerated by his assuming negative intentions targeted at him where they don't exist. While his charisma has earned him a net positive relationship with the national press, he has an intense antipathy towards state and local press. In private he often calls these people the "Federation of Mediocre Men". He tends to include small business owners, craft union bosses and old money that complain about his policies in this "FoMM"

Private Temper:

While he is able to keep his temper in public, in private settings his emotions can bubble into a destructive anger that can make him difficult to work with, particularly when faced by those who vehemently disagree with him.

Biography:

Born January 9th, 1915 in Pittsburg Pennsylvania a "Lower Upper Class" family, Tom Fraser has always lived a privileged life that has give him enough to never feel any insecurity, but allowed him to build a resentment of those above him and a sympathy for those below him. In general, his sympathy for the lower classes comes not from noblesse oblige, or any type of marxist-like perception of class, but from a realization that they must feel about the wealthy the same way he feels about old money and in intense desire to cycle out old money in favor of those meritorious members of the lower classes. After graduating with a Bacholar of Arts in Economics at the top of his class in Harvard, he moved back to Pittsburg and secured a job as a junior executive at U.S. Steel, slightly ironically, partially due to his father's connections. There he proved himself over the next few years, particularly in managing exports to Latin America, using the Spanish he learned in childhood from a tutor. After a few years in latin america, he was struck by the rising influence of fascism and nazism in the region and was able to convince U.S. Steel the help him land a parallel position as Coordinator of Inter-American Affairs under the Roosevelt administration.

At this point, Tom was not particularly committed to either party, though his ideological leanings were clear to him and he found dixecrats to be archetypical example of members of the "Federation of Mediocre Men" in addition to being a fascist fifth column within the United States. When Pearl Harbour was bombed, he could not stomach remaining so far away from the frontlines in corporate boardrooms as an abled bodied man in his 20s, so he soon signed up for the Naval Reserves, working in logistics and earning himself 5 medals. After the end of his active duty in 1946, he took up a job as a Senior Executive at the Ford Motor Company, where he participated in a post-war retooling of the company alongside the "Whiz Kids". There he established a variety of connections with both corporate and labor figures that'd allow him to run a successful campaign for Senate in 1952 for the Republican Party. While In the Senate, he worked with progressives, liberals and moderates across party lines on a variety of domestic policies, while allying with more or less anyone on issues of foreign policy, be it foreign aid or military intervention.

As the conclusion of his senate term came along, Tom first decided to ran for the Governor of New York. He won by a 10 point margin, defeating the incumbent democratic governor. His eyes remaining on the Presidency, is intention was to use the office the the New York Governorship as a base to showcase his policy and bipartisan acumen and win the favor of the New York based national media.

Other Info:

Generally supportive of President Davis, but his main criticism were his commitment to an interstate highway system instead of an expansion of rail, fearing that it might undermine urban centers, though he still saw any infrastructure as better than no infrastructure and felt that he wasn't courageous enough on civil rights issues.

Wife:

Sofia Donetesko, Born 1915 in Ukraine, Russian Empire to members of the Socialist Revolutionary Party, who would be forced to flee after the Tambov Rebellion against the Bolsheviks. Married in 1937 after graduating from Boston University.

Children:

Born in

Patricia (Born in 1939)

You can apply for whatever you want! If you want a Senator, then you can look at the map on the first page and figure out your party and state, then submit a well-formed application. For a Representative, it doesn't have to be as in-depth, for a Governor a little in-depth. All Executive positions are open, except President and Vice President. So just figure out what you want to do, and try it out!

There are currently no Representatives, a few Senators, and One Governor.

Character State of Origin: Massachusetts
Character State of Residence: Massachusetts
Character Party Affiliation: Democratic Party
Main Strengths: War hero, passionate, popular with progressive Democrats, prominent anti-segregationist, youthful momentum
Main Weaknesses: Considered too radical by more moderate heads, inexperienced politician, alcoholic, prone to gaffes when on the defensive, occasional rumor's circulating concerning his...preferences

Biography: Willie was born June 4th 1917 to William Oswald Sr. and Abigail Richards, an architect and stay at home wife respectfully. Though, the elder William never got to see his son, having joined to fight against the Germans in the Great War. Meeting his end upon the barren fields of Belgium.

Luckily for Abigail, her husband had been successful previous to the war and had left a sizable amount of money to live on in his will, which, combined with his pension, allowed her to keep the house and raise her son without the need for remarrying. Eventually, of course, she did, as was expected of her.

Willie grew up on the stories of his father, buildings around the city an eternal reminder of the legacy he had to live up to. Not to mention the medals in the display cabinet. Often as a youth he would raise the idea of one day joining the military to his mother, before being quickly swatted down, not intent on losing another loved one to a cursed conflict. Instead, he was to go into the insurance business with his step-father. A respectable administrative profession without a hint of physical danger involved.

He was content with that for a time. His step-father was a good man who taught him the ropes, put him through college and landed him his first job. He was good at it.

Then the Japanese hit Pearl Harbour.

He still remembers his mothers tears the moment he returned home from the local recruitment center. They eventually subsided to quiet acceptance. With a stern pat on the back from his step-father he stepped into a life of war.

His administrative skills were valuable in the Pacific campaign, and due to personal interest he had a passing knowledge of Japanese. These factors allowed him to rise quickly from the enlisted ranks. Quickly finding himself an officer after two arduous years.

During this time he distinguished himself multiple times, often refusing the leave he was allowed to take. Mostly out of loyalty to the men around him. Black, white and even Asian American. To him, they were his brothers. The idea of segregation and unequal rights growing distant by the second as bullets hit them all alike.

His biggest feat of heroism came in the closing months of the war during the bloody Battle of Okinawa. There, on April 12th, the Japanese counter-offensive at Kakazu Ridge caught the American forces off-guard. Willie, fighting in vicious hand to hand combat, held a ridge overnight against the offensive. The ridge, vital to the logistics of the battle and used as cover for medics to evacuate wounded servicemen, helped to severely reduce casualties along his units section of the line. For his heroism he was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor.

Though, the battle had changed him. Scarred him. And as Japan surrendered to the Allied powers, he surrendered to alcoholism.

Promoted to Captain in the months following VJ Day, for Willie, civilian life was hard to comprehend. As such, to not face the fear of an idle civilian job, he stayed in the military, finally being discharged as the Korean War came to an end.

In the years after, he felt that he had to do something. Something productive. The men he had fought with were treated as second class citizens, the wars he had come to despise were never-ending. Upon the encouragement of both the local Republican and Democratic branches in his Congressional district, he announced his campaign for the Democrats, following the popular outgoing Representative on a progressive and radical message. Winning the primary was all he need do in the 2nd District, and with the endorsement of the outgoing Congressman that proved simple.

During his brief period in the House, Willie tried to stake a somewhat public place. Often outspoken on many issues and fighting many personal battles within the chamber. Though the two years were not enough to achieve much legislatively, he signed onto and backed mostly progressive legislation including efforts on more out there ideas like universal healthcare. On work safety law, he managed to pass a few bills concerning the work day and the work week, winning some victories on mandated breaks and increasing workers voices when it came to suing abusive employers in breach of federal law. Other minor efforts include securing land for a designated national park in his congressional district.

Not content with the House, however, after just one term he took the step up to the Senate. Winning a hard fought primary and the general election. Eager to shake up politics with what many consider a polarising ideology.

Standing primarily on a platform of desegregation and civil rights, other beliefs touted by the Senator-Elect include a non-interventionist streak, firmly against the escalation of the War in Vietnam and other activities of the American government, specifically in South America. Though more quiet on issues related to the Soviet Union, he approaches the issue from the point of view of Détente and and has occasionally spoken on the need to settle the nuclear arms race before the world experiences what he has called a "catastrophic end."

On the economic front, he is in favour of tariffs to protect American workers, pro-union and has staked a claim in the fight for work safety laws. A pet project of his during his time in the House.

Other Info: Unmarried bachelor, closeted homosexual, Medal of Honor recipient.

Not content with the House, however, after just one term he took the step up to the Senate. Winning a hard fought primary and the general election. Eager to shake up politics with what many consider a polarising ideology.

Hmmm, I like this guy! You say he has a polarising ideology, could you go into a little bit more detail as to what that might be? Like what are some of his politics?

Tag, considering either a Strom Thurmond-esque Dixiecrat.
Capilean News (Updated 16 November)
Where is the horse gone? Where the warrior?
Where is the treasure-giver? Where are the seats at the feast?
Where are the revels in the hall?
Alas for the bright cup! Alas for the mailed warrior!
Alas for the splendour of the prince!
How that time has passed away, dark under the cover of night, as if it never were.

Character Information Sheet

NS Nation Name: Flowerdell
Character Name: William Lawrence “Willie” Oswald Jr.
Character Gender: Male
Character Age: 41
Character Height: 5’ 8”
Character Weight: 134lbs

Character Position/Role/Job:

- United States Senator-Elect from Massachusetts (Present)
- United States Representative from Massachusetts 2nd Congressional District (1956-1958)
- U.S. Army Captain (1945-1953)
- U.S. Army First Lieutenant (1943-1945)
- U.S. Army Army Corporal (1943)
- U.S. Army Private (1942)
- Insurance Salesman (1935-1941)

(Image)

Character State of Origin: Massachusetts
Character State of Residence: Massachusetts
Character Party Affiliation: Democratic Party
Main Strengths: War hero, passionate, popular with progressive Democrats, prominent anti-segregationist, youthful momentum
Main Weaknesses: Considered too radical by more moderate heads, inexperienced politician, alcoholic

This is a good app! Just two small things:

1. I feel he could use another weakness or two. While the ones he has right now are fine, his status as a Medal of Honor recipient and a war hero, as well as his youthful energy and (presumable) charisma make him a bit of a hot shot. Adding another weakness should be fine, maybe being a bit gaffe-prone or a scandal or something like that.

2. Could you elaborate a tiny bit more on his time in the House? Any accomplishments/notable events beyond what you mentioned at the end?

Otherwise I'm about ready to accept this app.

Can't wait to see it. I'm planning on making one too after we get things running all good and proper. Dixiecrats/Segregationist Democrats were a good bit of the south and we only have one so it's great to hear someone planning on making one!

There you go! Added two more weaknesses and his efforts during his brief period in the House. I kept it mostly light on the latter due to the small stint he had.

Do tell me if there is anything else, and thanks for your patience on this!
