It's been a couple of weeks since a mysterious, deadly disease that brought down an entire village in Kongo first made news.
After seemingly passing away from old age, an elderly woman rose up from the casket in what resembled a miracle. Soon after, however, she would get violent. Mindlessly attacking the attendees of her own funeral, she would eventually be restrained, but not until after she bit a number of local residents. Considering it a folk tale at first, the WHO was slow to react, eventually sending a small American-led team to investigate the 'patient zero' of what at that point began to slowly, but surely shape up to be a global epidemic. The team would lose contact shortly after reaching the village, believed to have been the victims of an attack by a local militia group.
Right now, the presence of the disease has been confirmed on every continent, excluding Antarctica, having reached pretty much every major industrialized country. The United States of America is no exception, with the first confirmed case noted in Burlington, Vermont. The authorities are cautious not to stir any panic, preparing to contain the spread of the disease in secret.
Welcome to "So Will It Be", NationStates' first Zombie RP in a while. Set in a universe not that different from our own, its plot will follow a group of survivors trying to get by in a world where a mysterious disease turns ordinary people into mindless killing machines.
The world of SWIB is based on its own rules, drawing inspiration from multiple works of fiction. Survivors will have to figure out how their new reality works step by step, with little starting knowledge. The more someone pays attention, the more they know and learn. Players are invited to engage in world building, all suggestions will be taken into consideration.
The RP is not fully open-world, characters will travel and even possibly split up, however the starting point - the city of Burlington, VT - is clearly defined and will be the main focus of the first act. Player characters will be guided towards interacting with other PCs, sometimes being pushed to do so by the plot.
Rules
1. OP has the final word and is the arbiter of all things related to the RP. I may ask for input and players can make their case, but if the OP says their word is final... it's final.
2. Keep things PG-13. While violence is expected to take place, do not use an unnecessary amount of detail. Occasional vulgarities are allowed, but do not overuse them. Sexually explicit content should kept to a minimum (use the fade-to-black method if needed).
3. Do not use the Z-word. The word "Zombie" is for comic book nerds, use something else or risk being laughed at.
4. Metagaming is not allowed.
5. Player characters have a degree of bodily autonomy, if you want to do something to another player's character either ask the owner or expect the OP to make a decision. PCs will have a slight plot armor...
6. ...Having said that no one is invincible. Your actions will have consequences. If your character does something where there is no reasonable way of them surviving... they die.
7. Put some effort into your posts. One-liners should only be used for conversations.
8. Respect your fellow players.
