Admittedly, the House Minority Leader hadn’t spoken to the Georgian much, but he had developed a positive impression during the times that he had. Seeing her as one of the more reasonable Porterites who could be relied upon to avoid dividing the House GOP. Perhaps that was what drove him to start a phone call with her, the fact that for all her support of the Secretary, she was relayed through an act of destruction on the streets of her own state. Still, having dialled the Representative’s number in, Thomas waited to be connected through.

Former Secretary of Defense Bernard Porter's violent and conspiratorial acts of incitement in Georgia are emblematic of a surge of white supremacy that has poisoned the politics of the United States, goaded on by incendiary rhetoric and unchecked paramilitarism. American lives have been lost on American soil as a consequence of this lawlessness, and I urge both federal and state authorities to act swiftly to neutralize and dismantle the network of white supremacist domestic terror that Bernard Porter has engendered and inflicted upon our nation.

The United States is stronger than this, and as we have when faced with enemies foreign and domestic before, we shall rise above, but that takes a conscious effort on our part to reject the politics of violence and discord. I welcome statements by state and national Republican leaders in calling for an end to the ongoing crisis, and congressional Democrats stand ready to work with the White House to restore public safety. When the dust has settled, however, we will be forced to reckon with the events and personalities that drove us towards this distressing crisis.

Statement On The Recent Criminal Behavior of Bernard Porter

WASHINGTON, D.C. - President Tawney rejects the treasonous behavior of Bernard Porter and pledges to ensure that the fugitive is brought to justice in a timely manner.

The recent behavior exhibited by Bernard Porter shows the extent of his violent intentions. His actions present a man not concerned with the well-being of our country, but rather with his own personal gain. Any individual who seeks to utilize fear and violence for his political career is nothing short of a terrorist. Hiding in militia compounds, trying to burn down the streets of America and doing everything in one’s power to avoid justice are tactics used by countless enemies of the United States. As President, I will not enable such behavior.

Bernard Porter is not above the law. He will not be allowed to obstruct justice for much longer. No agreement will be reached, no capitulation will be made. The Federal Government will not allow itself to be bullied into submission. It has not done so in the past and it will not do so in the future.

For a man who continuously invokes history in his speeches, Bernard Porter seems to not have learned his lessons. As the efforts to bring him to justice are being undertaken, I highly advise Mr. Porter to educate himself on the history of the incidents not unlike the one he has started right now.
