If people need immediate aid, only sending money to states is probably one of the less efficient ways to immediately get more cash in people's hands. I agree with you, we probably aren't going to hammer out a deal including big new federal programs, as needed as some might be. But something as simple as a guaranteed additional $600 per week to every unemployed person? To me it seems fairly obvious that would be an easier, more direct way of providing immediate aid."

Warrick whispers to the President for a few moments and jots some things down "We would consider extending benefits... how would you feel about $20 billion in Small Business Disaster loan assistance? with an extra $10 billion to states which provide matching funds?"

Tawney listened and nodded in agreement. "Yes, I think that could work."

Tim didn't want to speak for the leadership, but Warrick wasn't proposing anything outlandish so he decided to give his two cents. "To me, at least, both those things seem perfectly sensible. Enough to provide real relief to debt-burdened businesses and small enough to not be labeled a corporate bailout."

"Where are your heads at in terms of paycheck protection and keeping people employed? My economists project that loan programs to help cover payroll would probably be more expensive in the long run than a simple paycheck security program that covers payroll for businesses at risk of going under."

Warrick whispered with Tawney a bit more and then returned to the conversation... "Paycheck protection we want to do... but for now lets say $600 per week added unemployment benefit for 6 months and a 6 month extension on unemployment benefits with option to renew for another 6 months. Cap to 95% of previous earnings... We don't know where we are going to be 6 months from now, if we need to extend it we will."

Jennifer nodded along as Kimberley spoke before replying.

“Of course, I would just need for you to use your position as a former Lieutenant Governor and your tenure in the state Senate to ensure that we can pass any legislation that we need through the legislature as smoothly as we can.” Jennifer said before taking another sip of water.

"I can do that, I'll want to review the plans and legislation beforehand but any chance I get to smack around some legislators I'll take," she joked, before checking her watch. "Ah shit. One sec."

Kim rifled through her purse for a second before taking out a pill bottle and quickly popping one in her mouth. She washed the lithium down with Pepsi and drummed her fingers on the desk. "Other than that...roads in Kansas are falling apart. It couldn't hurt anybody to expand KSDOT repairs, get more people working, benefit everyone."

Jennifer stifled a chuckle at Dunbar’s remark, before, having noticed what her Republican counterpart was doing, decided to take a drink of her own glass out of politeness.

“Yes, I think we can implement that with little difficulty. We should probably have that as a starting point, try and avoid any rushed action that would stoke further market panic, not at this point anyway.”

"Well Richardson I believe the republican party is doomed, yes doomed! Why? Well, you cannot conserve everything, and yet here we are. Trying to hold these values that died long ago. I was taught a key thing that stuck with me ever since. "Things must change to survive..." I've changed. If you would have met me 17 years ago, you wouldn't recognize me. Why is this something I don't see the Republican party caring about? Hey Linda,

If you have the chance later today it'd be greatly appreciated if you could come over to my office in Longworth.

Ahe'hee,

U.S. Representative from Arizona's 7th
Assistant Speaker of the U.S. House

After seeing the Representative's email, Linda went from her office at the Canon HOB to the Longworth HOB, and went to the office that she was requested at, and she was greeted kindly by the secretary of Representative Nez.

"Hi! Mrs. Nez requested me, might I go in?" Linda said with a smile.

"Kathleen's in her office, you can go right ahead." Offered Nez's secretary as he seemed to write something down on a piece of paper.

Once inside Nez's office proper, Linda could see that her office screamed two things, the Southwest and Nez's heritage, which were at the very least two interrelated things. Nez herself was standing over at in the certain corner of her office that was home to a number of photos taken over her career as an activist and politician, which today was also home to a hotplate which she had just used to heat up some water so she could make a cup of tea.

"Ah, Linda! Care for some tea?" Nez spoke once she noticed her fellow Congresswoman had arrived.

It is a great day today as Phase 2 of a rural infrastructure initiative has been completed. The area's that has just been completed were the roads between Mount Pleasant to Texarkana, Linden to Ore City, and Hideway to Quitman. With these roads better people shouldn't be stranded due to bad infrastructure and being able to reach destinations faster. We are creating a better district for everyone no matter if you live urban, suburban, or rurally.

Senator Colbert walks up to Senator Warrick’s office. Colbert, almost right after he got back from Utah, got the flu real bad. But, that’s over now and America is facing recession. He walks in and introduces himself to Warrick’s secretary. “I am Senator Everitt Colbert of Utah. I do not have an appointment, but it is important that I speak with Senator Warrick.”

"Employees being able to keep more their own money is always nice, but at the same time, creating a payroll tax holiday means Social Security isn't going to get funded, which means a bunch of old people are going to go broke instead. Add on to the fact that payroll taxes fund Medicare too, and that means a whole bunch of old people aren't going to have health insurance either."

"There's nothing wrong with trying to throw an olive branch, the thing we're worried about is that you're throwing an olive branch at a bill we're worried will do more harm than good. Plus, if I recall we sent out a memo about not throwing an olive branch without leadership approval."

Linda looked bewildered, "I must have missed that, I honestly didn't know. Anywho, I was confronted with an opportunity to create a temporary, three-month tax deferral, that would help the people most affected by the crisis, workers. But I do see your concerns and I'd be happy to do whatever I could to reconcile my position with the party Leadership if need be. Besides, when I was confronted by said opportunity, I was promised a slight bit of help getting HPPSO passed, and all I got was that small Ruler man, with what seems to be an over-active bladder..." "Ruler does tend to do leave the chamber right after voting does he?" Kathleen joked, never actually noticing that herself, "If you're willing, leadership feels like it would be best to remove your name from the co-sponsors. And don't worry, you're not in any sort of trouble, if anything we wanted to make sure you're still around after 2020.
