This event might even flip the senate and will really hurt Republicans in general, races will naturally be less competitive when the leader of one wing of the party blew himself up alongside federal agents and managed to cause civilian deaths. The GOP is becoming an antagonist foil to the Democrats, Levi wouldn’t run into a militia compound and kill himself after citing insurrection because we all know that is just stupid yet Porter would selfishly sacrifice everything he’s worked for for nothing. I like fun drastic events like this but it’s giving Dems a cakewalk in the upcoming elections

My proposal is for a counter-event that would be made to balance out the effects electorally for both parties.

Main Weaknesses: radical views; despised by conservatives; member of an essentially powerless political party; was investigated by the FBI in his 20s as a member of the Black Panther Party; portrayed as Black Nationalist by opponents
Biography: When Barry King was 10, his father was shot by police in front of him, unarmed, for unclear reasons. When he was 15, his brother was beaten by police for smoking marijuana. When he was 18, he was jumped by a gang of neo-nazi skinheads, stabbed four times, and left bleeding on the side of the road. He barely survived. Barry King grew up with a distrust of police, and a hatred for racists.
Barry joined the Black Panther party in college in 1975, quickly rising through the ranks. He found that the Black Panthers allowed him to fight against racism and police brutality, and was a way to help the children that the government left behind. He became a leader of a Black Panther patrol, and just three years later he became the Vice Chair. He retained that position until the party was forcibly dissolved of the FBI, and some of Barry's friends arrested on trumped-up charges. Barry then founded an organization called the F.U.C.C., which fed breakfast to children living in poverty.
After serving in the F.U.C.C. for 14 years, Barry decided to join the New Black Panther Party, whose leader had resigned over an embezzlement scandal. In the ensuing power struggle between party leadership Barry took charge and brought the party into relevance in Oakland, even getting a city council member from their party elected. They took control of the F.U.C.C., merging it with the party. In 2018, Barry passed the leadership to someone else to begin grassroots fundraising work for a House campaign, and in 2020 announced his candidacy.
His aims are to end police brutality, provide poverty relief and unemployment assistance, provide free and universal healthcare, expand gun rights, expand minority rights, decriminalize all drugs and legalize marijuana, and to end mass incarceration.
Other Info: Doesn't like to talk about religion, but either a Non-denominational Protestant or an atheist. Also there was a rumor in the 90s that he was connected to the Nation of Islam but that's probably false.
I have read and accept the rules of the roleplay: Madrinpoor

I personally think that the consequences of the last few IC days will be very mixed, the GOP will not collapse as a result of the Porter siege and while it may hurt them in places like Georgia, the party has - by and large - denounced the former secretary and fairly clearly cut off the ties that connected Porter with the Republican Party, at least in public eye (with, ekhem, small exceptions). What's more, Democrats have not done incredibly well either in terms of crisis management, they will suffer as well. Overall, the consequences are most likely to be regionalized, the GOP loses a bit in Georgia (they still have the incumbency advantage afaik), while they gain in places like Kansas and Arkansas (at least according to the latest round of polling/race ratings).

'We have talked about this and had a very spirited debate, and after a very close vote decided to allow the situation to proceed.
The thing is that many ppl are overreacting to how bad it is for the Republican Party. We have a good mirror event to compare it to: The Jan 6th attack on the Capitol. The event has not resulted in a large dropoff in support for Republicans, with them doing exceptionally well in the recent special election in Texas. The fallout to this will be relatively contained apart from Georgia tightening up, and NPC Porterites losing their primary.

The difference is, the Jan 6 insurrection was encouraged (or at least in support of) Trump, who was/is a major figure in the GOP. Porter isn't. Also, he has been condemned by the rest of the GOP, including the president, while Trump hasn't suffered major consequences from his party.
