Biography:

Anthony Johnston was born in Fairbanks, Alaska on November 5, 1962. His father, a local cop in the Fairbanks Police Department and his mother, a housewife, made life work for Tony. His parents had moved to Fairbanks during the boom in the late 50's, having originated from Washington. Tony enjoyed his childhood, with him attending Lathrop High School. Although he wasn't overly involved in sports, he enjoyed Cross Country Skiing and joined the local Fairbanks Association with some friends of his. After High School in 1981, Tony would attend local community College at Tanana Valley Campus. He would complete the thirteen week Law Enforcement Academy. He would also obtain an Associate of Applied Science in Aviation Maintenance.

After finishing the degree, Tony moved to Sitka to attend the State Trooper Academy. He had always been interested in Law Enforcement, due to the stories his father told him when he was younger. He would pass through the Academy with relative ease, due to his Community College course and relocate to Anchorage, Alaska where he would begin his career in the State Police in 1984. His first few years in the State Police would be very regular, with Tony being occasionally dispatched to some of the isolated boroughs to the north of Anchorage. He would also begin a relationship with a dispatcher called Sandra Bullwhip. In 1988, Tony would be promoted to Corporal after he accidentally saved a woman from drowning. Tony was going to a fishing site on his boat late one evening when the woman had fallen into the lake. After nearly hitting the woman twice with his boat, the propeller got jammed by his own fishing line which jolted the boat to a halt. Tony would fall over and knock a rubber ring into the water and over the woman, which due to the noise of the engine, he had no idea that was there. He would only remain in the State Troopers for another four years, mainly assisting with fishing and hunting crimes before he put in a transfer request to the Alaska Bureau of investigations.

After being transferred to the ABI in 1990, Tony would be placed on Cold Case Investigations. This would be extremely slow department, however, Tony would try and present new ideas and hypothesis about the cases. Many would be dismissed, but some proved useful with a few of the cases being reopened and investigation proceeding. He would marry Sandra in 1991 and the two would have three children between 1992-1995. Tony would serve a brief period in the Missing Persons Unit before being reassigned to the Homicide and Major Crimes Unit. Tony and his family would have to relocate to Dillingham to be closer to the Major Crimes Unit outpost. It was also during this time Tony would become interested in Alaskan politics and join the Alaskan Republican Party. He would be fairly active in the local area when he wasn't working. In 1996, he would be selected by the party to run for the Alaskan Senate in the R District. The district, which was being vacated by the incumbent, would be easy to maintain for the Republicans. Tony would face no primary challengers and would have a weak Democratic opponent. He would win on Election Day and would be sworn in the following January.

Upon taking office, Tony was appointed to the State Affairs Committee and the Law Committee. He would be outspoken during his Senate tenure, with him supporting "Tough on Crime" bills. Tony would also support various bills supporting the Alaskan State Troopers and providing more money to law enforcement. However, he would pass very little of his own legislation and amendments. He would run for reelection with no real challenge in 2000 and would glide to victory. As 2002 rolled around, Tony considered a run for Governor, however he was dissuaded by front runner Frank Murkowski, instead being offered the Department of Public Safety. Tony would accept, largely relating to being bored of the Senate and wanting a more hands on role to do with the State. He would be appointed in 2003.

During his term as Commissioner, Tony oversaw the major modernisation of the Department. With an increased budget from the Murkowski administration, Tony was able to begin modernisation of the civilian side of the department. He would purchase new aircraft for joint use by the State Troopers and Fire and Life division. He would also announce a major initiative into Domestic and Sexual Abuse, utilising the existing body of the Council on Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault. Overall, Tony would be approved of during his time at the the Department. As the ever mounting failures and scandal of the Murkowski administration came to light, Tony viewed the office as a potential springboard for further political ambitions.

After the growing discontent with the Murkowski administration, Tony was approached by a few Senate Republicans.They advised him to seek the Lieutenant Governor's nomination as they viewed him as easy to work with. He was reluctant however, due to him having a good repertoire with the current Lt Governor, but once the current Lieutenant Governor announced his plans to retire, Tony announced his campaign for the position. The Primary was large, with Tony facing off against four other candidates, one being the mayor of Fairbanks and the other a State House Representative. The race was extremely cut throat, with the candidates throwing mud at one another. The final tally in the Primary was close, closer than Tony had expected, with Tony only winning by a thousand votes. With the Primary election over, he joined the not-Palin ticket. He was active on the campaign, mostly being sent out to the remote towns and cities by the campaign to whip up support. While campaigning, Tony tried to bring his family on the campaign trail as much as possible, often using it to promote family values during the campaign. As November, 2006, rolled around, the not-Palin-Johnston Ticket won 48.2% of the final vote, and were declared the victors that same night.

When Tony assumed office, he acted as the number two of not-Palin. For the first year of Tony's term, he spent much of it in the Senate, brokering deals with the Democratic-Republican Majority coalition and the Republican minority. He successfully pushed through not-Palin's budget reduction and spending plan. He also helped push through not-Palin's Fishing and Wildlife policies, especially around the hunting of wolves by helicopter. He was generally quiet on matters concerning the budget, but publicly stated "I'm a Republican and a fiscal conservative.". Tony would run in 2008 in the House of Representatives election primaries against Jay Dietrich. Tony was endorsed by not-Palin and many other Administration officials and for a time believed he could pull off a win, however, after a long fought campaign, Tony lost by 434 votes. He declined a recount, stating "I don't think it would change much, but congratulations to Representative Dietrich". By July 2008, Tony had been dragged into "TrooperGate", when not-Palin had dismissed the Public Safety Commissioner for not firing an Alaskan State Trooper. It was alleged that Tony had placed pressure on the Commissioner to fire the trooper, however this was far from the truth. He had placed pressure on the Commissioner to fire the wrong person, which resulted in the firing of a Janitor and a receptionist. This had not been discovered, and Tony was later only said to have spoken to the commissioner about the Issue, he did still receive some poor press for apparently pressuring the Commissioner.

In 2009, when not-Palin resigned due to an ethics investigation, Tony was sworn in as Governor. He vowed to continue the platform that the not-Palin-Johnston campaign had promised in 2006. He also declined to comment if he would run for a full term in 2010. After finishing the cuts to Oil and Gas companies that not-Palin had started, Tony announced his plans to run for Governor. He faced minor opposition, with only a few minor local office holders seeking the nomination. in 2010, he would win the primary with over 60% of the vote and would go on to win the General with 58% of the vote. His campaign would be entered around lowering the crime rate and revitalising the economy. His policies would be fairly popular with Alaskans, enacting cuts on property tax and income tax, while enacting a partial fuel refund for Aircraft and boats. He also enacted various tax cuts on Oil and Gas companies, in order to boost jobs in the state and rural communities.

As 2014 came around, Tony announced his intention not to seek reelection. He cited the death of his son, who had died six months earlier in a plane crash as his reason. His son, while looking for the internal heating switch, had accidentally turned off the plane while mid-flight which caused it to crash into a tree and explode. He endorsed his Lieutenant Governor for the nomination.

After returning to private life, Tony began coaching cross-country skiing on the weekends. He briefly considered running for the Senate seat in 2016, but declined a few weeks before the filing deadline. Was briefly considered a potential candidate in 2018 for the Governorship, but declined. He is seriously considering a run in 2020 for the Alaskan Senate Seat.

His grandfather, Juan Matamoros, was a representative from New Mexico in the 1960s. His father was the governor of New Mexico during the 1980s. He comes from a long political dynasty and was expected to fill those shoes. A young Danilo Matamoros grew up learning about the world, his place in it, and the people that need help. He learned to work hard and serve others, and that is his goal in politics.
He went to the University of Michigan, where he got a major in foreign policy and a minor in political science. After college, he became a member of the ACLU, until he left it, moved back to New Mexico, and got into politics. His political journey started as the chief of staff for the Governor of New Mexico. He became very prominent and recognized in the politics of the state, but when a representative of New Mexico became marred by scandal, and eventually resigned in 2015, Matamoros was designated as the replacement. Despite never having gone into politics, his background in political science and foreign policy, his connection to the governor, and his political heritage got him the position. He did not implement any major policy during his one year term as appointed representative, but he eked out a victory in 2016. After having won, albeit barely, the trust of the people, he began fighting for labor reforms, a higher minimum wage, equal rights, climate protection, and minorities. This won him the support of the large Hispanic population in his district, but he did not run for reelection in 2018. He decided to instead seek a senate seat, which he won due to the minority support and fight for workers rights in a largely blue-collar state. He expects to continue this fight into the future.

Rowan became the company’s head sales manager at their High Point office as the company expanded eastward. Thanks mostly to the sales team she oversaw, Rowan was highly successful in her position. This enabled her to be named Managing Director for Special Projects for the company, moving to its headquarters in Asheville. In this position, Rowan’s most noteworthy accomplishment was securing a contract with the Department of Defense for the demolition/de-activation/transition of Bitburg Air Force Base in 1994 and Albrook Air Force Station in 1997. During this time she traveled to Germany and Panama, respectively, to negotiate with local contractors and manage the operations. This success is was largely a guaranteed success, as it was low risk and essentially being handed free money by Uncle Sam. Some rumored that she used sexual favors with some well-placed officials to get these contracts, but those largely swirled around before fading away, ultimately unfounded.

Unfortunately, Rowan was largely a lightweight at Duke, and began to realize with some self-awareness that she was more interested in appearances than material accomplishments. So, she decided to get involved in politics. In the 2000 race she found she liked a lot of what Burke had to say, so she donated a large amount to his campaign, eventually serving on its state committee. In 2002, she bought a house in her old home city of High Point, where the local Republican elite began to court her for a mayoral run.

In 2004, she left her position as Executive Vice President to chair Burke’s North Carolina campaign, and almost immediately following launched her mayoral bid officially, narrowly winning the 2005 race to lead the mid-sized city of about 110,000 people. Her mayoralty was largely uneventful, mostly due to the Democratic city council being un-cooperative. At numerous points she made overtures to preventing terrorism with maneuvers such as increasing security on public transportation and municipal buildings, which was still politically salient at the time. Thanks to her deep pockets, Rowan was able to advertise strongly and take credit for a decrease in violent crime, among other trends for which she actually had no credit. In 2007 she narrowly won re-election. In her second term she was able to narrowly reduce the municipal mill-rate, an achievement which carried her 2009 re-election campaign. From there, she almost immediately began to pivot for a gubernatorial bid in 2012, launching the campaign after leaving office in 2011.

In 2012, Rowan was defeated in the primary by a candidate to whom she had once donated, Congressman Nate Richardson. She wound up endorsing him and stumping for him. She remained active in Republican circles, and launched a bid for the open Lieutenant Governor’s seat, winning in 2016 and taking office thereafter.

As Lieutenant Governor she served dutifully on the Council of State, North Carolina Community College Board, and in Richardson’s cabinet. She established herself as a fiscal conservative, calling for cutting the income tax further or doing away with it entirely. She also chaired the task force created by Richardson which created the Carolina Choice Care Program, though she largely deferred to professionals and took on the role of a facilitator more than a participant. Rowan did well in this office largely because she did not have to do much of significance.

In 2020, she ascended to the office of Governor due to the resignation of Nate Richardson.

He comes from a long political dynasty and was expected to fill those shoes. A young Danilo Matamoros grew up learning about the world, his place in it, and the people that need help. He learned to work hard and serve others, and that is his goal in politics.
He went to the University of Michigan, where he got a major in foreign policy and a minor in political science. After college, he became a member of the ACLU, until he left it, moved back to New Mexico, and got into politics. His political journey started as the chief of staff for the Governor of New Mexico. He became very prominent and recognized in the politics of the state, but when a representative of New Mexico became marred by scandal, and eventually resigned in 2015, Matamoros was designated as the replacement. Despite never having gone into politics, his background in political science and foreign policy, his connection to the governor, and his political heritage got him the position. He did not implement any major policy during his one year term as appointed representative, but he eked out a victory in 2016. After having won, albeit barely, the trust of the people, he began fighting for labor reforms, a higher minimum wage, equal rights, climate protection, and minorities. This won him the support of the large Hispanic population in his district, but he did not run for reelection in 2018. He decided to instead seek a senate seat, which he won due to the minority support and fight for workers rights in a largely blue-collar state. He expects to continue this fight into the future.

After returning to North Carolina with her Law Degree, Nadine found work in her fathers law firm, often tasked with the menial paperwork and reception-keeping duties. Two years later, in 1972, Nadine met a young man called Daniel McMahon while working for her father. During their dating period, she began to build up through the ranks of her fathers law firm, beginning to take on her own cases. With a few earlier (but minor) victories, this built up her confidence in the field of law. In 1975 (the election for this would have been in 1974*), her father did something unexpected. Gregory Marchant ran for North Carolina's 5th Congressional District and won. This apathy for running for political office was not permanent, however. With the 2006 Midterm elections approaching, Nadine thought it wise to join the political fray, with whatever backing her last name held still within the North Carolina political climate. In 2005, she retired from her position as CEO of Black and White Law, and plotted a run for North Carolina's 3rd Congressional District. The district was her home, but it was overwhelmingly Republican and she knew that the election would be difficult, if not impossible to win. Still, Nadine ran a high-profile campaign that attracted a lot of local media and some national media, as the daughter of a famous civil rights lawyers and congress people. She lost decisively, 35% to the Republican candidates 65%.

Her failed run did not dampen her desire for politics, however. Her splash into politics had made an impact and when state elections rolled around in North Carolina in 2008, many party insiders were pushing her to run for the vacant 20th Senate District in the North Carolina State Senate. Nadine, though popular among Democrats, did not live in the District. After a visit from a State Assemblyman, however, she was convinced to run for the seat. She easily won the primary, with little to no challenge and cruised to an overwhelming victory of 70% in the solid Democratic District. Following her victory, she promised to move to the District amid media scrutiny for her carpet-bagging. After a year of being elected to the State Senate, local media inquired deeper into whether she had actually moved to the District yet. They discovered that Nadine still lived in Morehead City. With the media blowing up how she lied about moving, their family bought a property in the area and she lived there on a part-time basis.

Her initial foray into politics proved that she was a very collaborative and bipartisan legislator. During her first term in office, she secured additional funding for domestic violence charities in her District and was at the forefront of the debate to raise the salaries of school teachers. When 2012 came around, Nadine was re-elected without a hitch. This was the same year that Nathaniel Richardson was elected Governor of the state. The Democratic Caucus in the State Senate was impressed with her success during her first, and with the help of her insider political connections, was nominated as the Minority Whip in the Senate. There, she would earn a reputation of being a fierce, yet fair Whip. It was her work as Whip that was able to flip many more left-leaning State Senators to support Nate Richardson's tax cuts and CCC “Carolina’s Choice Care”, all measures that Nadine supported.

In 2014, the former Minority Leader in the Senate announced that he would retire. Nadine ran for the position as the Democratic Minority Leader in the North Carolina State Senate. Almost unanimously, she won the position, with no opposition within the Caucus. It did, however, anger many grass-roots organizers who were demanding for a more left-leaning Minority Leader. She earned a reputation, even among Republicans, as being welcoming to negotiate with. While Minority Leader, she was able to negotiate well with Governor Richardson, though opposing his efforts to strip funding from public education tooth and nail. Nadine stringently opposed the Public Facilities Privacy and Security Act, which prevent many LGBTQ people from filing discrimination law suits. Following its passage through the State Senate by the Republican Majority, she lobbied heavily for Nathaniel Richardson to veto the Bill once it reached his desk. Still to this day she retains a cordial relationship with the man.

She couldn't keep doing the job, however. Nadine was personally disillusioned with her lack of power as the Minority Leader, and with very little chance to win the State Senate over she knew that would never have the power she wanted. In 2016, the media began investigating more into her permanent residence. While claiming to live in the 20th Senate District, Nadine still mainly lived in Morehead City, not Durham which is where most people in the District lived. With a mounting campaign from the progressive left against her in her own District, partly due to her carpet-bagging and partly due to her close relationship with Republican's, she decided to not seek re-election. Instead, she announced that she would seek the office of Attorney General of North Carolina. Nadine had a primary challenger nominally to her left, but she defeated him 52 to 48 due to her powerful name recognition.

In 2016, she was running as a Democrat while the relatively popular Nate Richardson was running for re-election as Governor. Nadine tried her best to appeal to the moderate, suburban base, that would be later called 'Nate-Nadine Voters' by the media for their support of a Republican Governor and a Democratic Attorney-General. Nadine was able to out-fundraise her Republican opponent, nearly 2 to 1. Due to this, and her ability to turn out African-American voters in droves because of her and her fathers records, Nadine was elected Attorney-General by 0.7%.

As Attorney-General, she was not one to sit back to use he power. Nadine took keen interest in housing inequality cases, including cases surrounding the discrimination of women and the LGBTQ community. She aggressively supported the Governor in his insistence to remove Confederate Monuments across the state. Her largest action in North Carolina was recouping millions of dollars for the City of Chapel Hill following the destruction of the natural environment by a petrochemical company.

As of 2020, Nadine Marchant-Smith won the Democratic nomination for the North Carolina Governorship.

He went to the University of Michigan, where he got a major in foreign policy and a minor in political science. After college, he became a member of the ACLU, until he left it and got into politics. His political journey started as the chief of staff for the Governor of New Mexico.
