Strengths and Weaknesses

Skills: Having been the captain of a German U-Boat for two years, and having been trained for four years as a naval cadet before that, Hans had developed the leadership skills needed during times of duress. His subbordinates saw him as a strict, but fair captain (almost fatherly), and their subsequent confidence in him garnered loyalty to him. His years of service in the Kreigsmarine also made him adept at nautical navigation (including dead reackoning), naval tactics (specificially U-Boat tactics), and at managing a naval vessel.
Weaknesses: Having had a military upbringing for most of his life, Hans hasn't developed the political skills to practice tact, and at times is rather upfront and blunt on matters, especially if they are life and death situations. His experiences in the Battle of the Atlantic have also made him develop a general sense of pessimissim and nhilism, especially when it comes to inept military or political leadership.

Background:

Backstory: Born in 1912 to a military family in Munich, Dietrich knew nothing but the militaristic lifestyle his father had taught him. His father served in the Great War, and his father before him served in the Franco-Prussian War. Even further lineage went as far back to the Napoleonic Wars. Unlike his father or his grandfather, however, Hans had the distinct fascination with the ocean, reading books such as Treasure Island, or books on Nelson, or even naval history in general.

This fascination stuck with him to his enlistment in 1932, where he enlisted in the Reichsmarine as an officer cannidate, completing basic training in six months. He was then promoted to sea cadet and attended officer's training for a year, before attending two more years of at-sea training, earning the rank of Leutenant zur See once his training was complete. Shortly afterwards, he was deployed to various posts for a year, getting promoted to Oberleutenant zur See for his time in service in the process. He then applied to the submarine branch in 1937.

His first post in the submarine branch was as an XO on board U-73, a type VIIB U-Boat. He was there for one patrol before he was assigned his own own command on U-201, a type VIIC U-Boat, state of the art for 1940. During this time, he participated in eight successful patrols in the Western Approaches, and in the Mid-Atlantic during the "good times", quickly getting promoted to Kapitänleutnant for the numerous tonnage he sank during these patrols. During these times, he would also take on a war correspondant for a patrol or two to document the experiences during this time. Although he was offered a promotion to Korvettenkapitän in 1932 in exchange for transfer off of U-201, he decided to stay out of an obligation for his men, turning down the promotion.

As the Battle of the Atlantic dragged on however, the tides of war began to turn for the Kriegsmarine. The number of friends he knew in his younger years would become smaller as they fell victim one by one to the ever-evolving anti-submarine tactics the allied forces used. New skippers and new crew members would take their places, some of them young enough to be his children at some points, hand-picked from the Hitlerjungand and disturbingly loyal to the Riech. With much of his old crew dead or transferred, Dietrich would eventually accept the offer for promotion in exchange for a new command to another U-Boat instead of a desk job as U-201 was decomissioned from active service. He would take command of U-292, a type VIIC/41 U-Boat. Despite all of this, the instinct Dietrich had developed from his experiences made him worry that his time, along with his luck, was running out.

On the evening of February 1944, his third patrol under U-292 would turn out to be his last. He and a wolfpack had found a convoy headed to the Western Approaches, and had moved in for the kill. Suddenly, Dietrich heard the ping of sonar hit his boat signifying his detection by a nearby sub. He quickly ordered for his boat to dive, cutting the engines in hopes the destroyers above wouldn't pick them up on the hydrophones as they drifted down to a thermal layer.With the invention of hedgehog mortars however, they didn't stand a chance. Soon they were bombarded, first with hedgehogs, then with depth charges as soon as the hedgehogs made contact with the boat, and more destroyers joined in on the hunt.

Dietrich's boat was taking on water quickly, as the depth meter rapidly rose beyond the normal crush depth of his boat. As he heard the creaking of the bulkheads around him, Dietrich realized this was the end. As they continued to sink further below the waves, he quietly accepted his fate as the men around him paniced and sparks flew around them, the resulting implosion happening so quickly, he barely registered any pain as he met his end.

Cause of death: Implosion from sinking to crush depth from depth charges.

With the death of her father, she started to lead the Hime clan at the age of 10, she and her clan went through a lot of problems due to the Japanese clan fights to which many of these clans had the support of the Shogun, she would like to follow Bushido but as she was considered as a woman, she had to marry to lead the clan that she will not accept much.

At the age of 12 her clan was attacked and she managed to stop the destruction by using her ninjutsu skills by killing one of the rival leaders of his clan who was threatened with extinction due to the power of the Shogun. As time went by, she continued to manage her clan until 1274 AD, when the Mongol invasion of the Japanese Island began, participating in guerrillas against the Mongolian invaders, during an attack on a train that was a trap, she was captured, called the enemy. and had his heart ripped out to be eaten by the Mongols with her death the other Japanese clans took over her and her ancestral lands and vanished much of their historical records. His body was thrown into a ditch and was only found in 2015 AD during a construction site excavation.

Also, do you have any references to Mongol human sacrifice/ritual cannibalism? I've never heard of it and would suggest you take it out if you don't have some references to it since we are trying to keep things relatively grounded.

Hey, sorry if I come across as pedantic. I just wanna point out that kendo didn't exist in the 13th century. For most of Japan's pre-Meiji history, there were lots of different schools of swordsmanship which are now referred to collectively as kenjutsu/"sword art". Kendo in its modern form was only developed during the Meiji Restoration, and the name "kendo" itself only came into use during the Taisho period.

That source doesn't support the fact the Mongols actually performed human sacrifices - "How often the Mongols undertook human sacrifice, or if it was practiced at all, is a matter of debate among researchers." You have written human sacrifice with a side of ritual cannibalism. Take that bit out and I think it looks alright.

I'd also suggest, like Nagakawa has pointed out, that you change the terms to the terms which are correct for the time period.

Nothing of note happened to her or her family with Zoey planning to attend a university in England upon graduating from school. She departed to England with no issue and was settling in for the semester when she had to return home immediately.

South Africa had been fighting a vicious border war with Namibia to the north, for over a year by that point. Zoey's older brother Piet, a civilian engineer, had been north consulting on a UN refugee camp when a lost Namibian aircraft mistook the convoy for SADF. Zoey's brother was killed in the airstrike along with several South African civilians; the UN consultants and delegates escaped injury and so it remained unworthy from the eyes of the world. Zoey returned home in time for the funeral and in a fit of emotion signed up minutes after leaving her brother's funeral. Assigned to a recon company, Zoey was trained as a scout and fought in a series of deadly counter attacks, raids and fighting retreats that zigzagged over the South African-Namibia border. One such action saw her company leave her and several others behind as a hasty rear guard against an advancing enemy battalion. Here Zoey met Mattys Venter, a medic from another platoon. Like his father and his predecessors before him, he served as a sipahi during the first and second reign of Sultan Mehmed II, as well as the second reign of Sultan Murad II. Though he had a more privileged upbringing than most subjects of the Ottoman state, he lived a temperate and humble lifestyle, preferring to loyally serve the duties of his family.

Initially starting his military career as a cebelu in his father's retinue and was deployed in various small battles and skirmishes, Arslan's first major battle was being part of the right cavalry wing alongside his father during the Battle of Varna against the cavalry wing lead by John Hunyadi. While he did not stand out in this particular battle, a trend commonly found in his succeeding battles throughout the entirety of his military service to the Ottoman state, his consistent trait of level headedness and decisiveness in battle, both major battles and light skirmishes, gave him recognition among his peers and he was awarded a timar fief from the Ottoman state for his service.

In a twist of irony, however, the only time he abandoned the notion of level headedness was the aftermath of the conquest of Constantinople when his father invited him out to a drinking contest using a rather powerful alcohol acquired from the northern lands of the Rus. In a moment of recklessness to finally surpass his father, he overdrank and died of alcohol poisoning.

Background:

Backstory:Eleanor von der Marwitz was the descendant of a certain Dietrich von der Marwitz, a Prussian officer who settled with his family in Britain in the 1860s, according to family history, due to a strong rivalry with Albrecht Graf von Roon. Whatever the reasons for leaving Prussia, von der Marwitz proved to be a reasonably gifted businessman, making a number of fruitful investments in steel, shipping and the railways. While his son, Kar,l did nothing to increase the size of the family fortune, he didn't fritter it away either and on top of what is invested in various enterprises, the family have a modestly sized country house in Devon as well as a town house in Knightsbridge.

Following an incident at a steelworks, Karl von der Marwitz became involved with a mysterious group known as the 'Order of Saint Thomas', which his daughter, Eleanor also became loosely affiliated with. When Karl von der Marwitz died of pneumonia in 1911, Eleanor continued her affiliation with the group, spending an increasing amount of time in their Library, a place where she found considerable solace from the grief she felt at her father's passing. Five years later, when the incumbent librarian was drafted into the military, Eleanor was the obvious choice for a replacement, though a lot had changed for her over that period.

While anti-German sentiment had been something Eleanor had always known, with the outbreak of war with the German Empire, this sentiment grew to the point where suspected Germans were being assaulted and stores of people with German sounding names, looted. Eleanor and her mother decided to adopt the surname of 'Martin' in place of 'von der Marwitz'. While both of them were born in England (her mother has no German ancestry whatsoever... at least that she knows of), and had distinct home-counties accents, the name did give the wrong idea to anyone looking to settle a score with 'Germans' on the home front. While not naturally shy, Eleanor took to avoiding revealing too much information about herself in conversation; just in case she got a bad reaction.

On top of that, Eleanor developed a somewhat sceptical attitude towards men, having come to the conclusion, mostly from reading far too many novels on the subject, that most young men were after the fortune which she was now the sole heiress to. In many cases she was probably right.

In December 1918, while visiting Cornwall with some of the other members of the Order, something happened that abruptly changed the course of Eleanor's life. Nobody knows exactly what happened, though all kinds of wild rumours circulated about the event. All that is known for sure is seven people were mauled to death by a massive dog, presumed to have been a rabid dog brought from the Continent by a returning soldier.

Eleanor was obviously shaken by the event, but rather than dealing with the loss in any logical way, she packed a suitcase and joined a carnival as a fortune teller with the stage name of the 'Mysterious Esmeralda'. While working as the 'Mysterious Esmeralda', Eleanor began to attract attention for her often disturbingly accurate predictions. For the most part, she accepted such invitations and her profile only grew with every high profile prediction she made.

In 1923 she was found murdered in her tent at the carnival. The cause of death was found to be asphyxiation, though no marks were found on the body and the culprit never identified.

Since waking up on the Icarus, Eleanor has gone back to using her actual name. Having a second chance at life without any of the previous baggage is actually quite refreshing...

His father was a soldier of Soviet Union during World War 2, and he wanted his son to be like him too. He then take Maximilian to a military school in 1970, when he was aged 16. In the military school, he was treated badly by the trainer, but it did not stop him from being one of the best cadet in the school. He was talented in fighting with knife and shooting from far range with his pistol or rifle. When he was aged 22 (1976), he finished the military school, with the title corporal. He always go with his knife and his pistols everywhere he goes. In 1980, the Soviet scientists had find an idea, to make a weapon, that could destroy the US army when a war broke out. It is known as Project T-8, an armor that was designed to protect the Soviet soldiers when a war broke out between US and USSR. They decided that Maximilian should be the test subject, since he was one of the best soldier in the area. In 1985, the experiment begins. Maximilian wear the armor, and start the first test. The walking test seems to be fine. They tried to shoot the armor. It did not damaging the armor. Although the last experiment is a poisonous gas. The room was filled with it, and there's a malfunction in the armor. The armor detecting heat, and automatically opened the helmet, which then caused the death of Maximilian. He was awake in Icarus, and he was surprised that he was awake in the age of 27. Although he's still wondering if he could return to the day he was died, to prevent all of it from happening

Backstory: Born into a family of Samurai in service to the Oda Clan, Tokudaji Hikitoshi was trained in the way of the sword. It would not be long before he had his first taste of combat. The Imagawa Clan invaded Owari, overwhelming the Oda Clan's border defenses. Oda Nobunaga, the head of the Oda Clan, surprise attacked the Imagawa forces at Okehazama, Hikitoshi slaying several men during the battle. His next taste of battle was against the Saito Clan, slaying his distant cousin Mizoguchi Nakahiro at the Battle of Moribe and Nakahiro's brother Takanari at the Battle of Jushijo. During this campaign. he would meet Yamanouchi Nei, the daughter of a Samurai whose lord had defected the Oda Clan. Hikitoshi would marry Nei after the Saito Clan was defeated, siring a son named Tatsu. Tokudaji Hikotoshi sent his wife to Owari before he and his father-in-law Yamanouchi Okuda joined the rest of the Nobunaga's army as it marched to Kyoto to make Ashikaga Yoshiaki the next Shogun. The two would become friends as they fought against the Rokkaku Clan and the Miyoshi Clan. One that ended when Okuda was slain at the Battle Of Anegawa, a death that he quickly avenged with a well timed strike.

Oda Nobunaga would be betrayed at Honnō-ji, resulting in the death of him and his son Oda Nobutada. Desiring to avenge his lord, Tokudaji Hikotoshi marched with the rest of the Oda Army to face the forces of Akechi Mitushide. He would fight his rival Tokitaka Tai during the Battle Of Yamazaki, the confrontation ending with the traitor's head falling to the ground, the decapitated corpse falling suite. He continued to serve the Oda Clan, fighting Sakuma Yorikazu, a Samurai in the service of the Tokugawa Clan, at Haguro, the two discovering that they were evenly matched as the conflict between Toyotomi Hideyoshi and Tokugawa Ieyasu became a stalemate. The two warriors would find each other fighting side by side as their Clans went to war with the Hojo, enjoying the entertainment provided between what little fighting occurred at the Siege of Odawara. However, once the Hojo Clan was defeated and the victory celebration over, Hikitoshi and Yorikazu found themselves without enemies to fight and headed back to their respective provinces. This campaign would be the last one he would participate in, as he was ambushed and cut down by Ronin lead by Mizoguchi Jiro, the son of Takanari. The old Samurai breathed his last breath, never knowing that his death would not be the end of him, but the beginning of a new chapter.
