Character DescriptionName: Joseph Foley
Gender: Male
Appearance:
Original Lifespan: 1983-2019
Biological Age now: 28
Strengths and WeaknessesSkills: Marksmanship (Sniper-Qualified),Hand-to Hand, Demolitions, Infiltration Techniques
Weaknesses: Worthless outside of combat. He might excel at that particular field but is useless in others. A blunt instrument to say the least.
Background:Backstory: A ranchers son from Wyoming, Joesph never saw himself leaving the state, intending instead on taking over the family ranch. He spent his youth riding horses and herding cows in preparation for his future; first with enthusiasm and then with resentment the older he got. This resentment finally came to a head with a chance meeting with a recruit in the parking lot of high school. Needless to say, Joseph soon enlisted with the United States Marine Corps and found himself a new calling that seemed a better future then ranching.
However, 9/11 caused a chain of events that Joseph could never have predicted. Foley's first couple of deployments were routine in the sense that they entailed the typical role of Marines. His third deployment however, saw a particularly nasty firefight that gave Foley a Bronze Star and caught the eye of someone. Foley was transferred out of his unit and slotted into a newly formed organization that didn't officially exist. Its members came from service members of different branches, agents of several different government agencies and civilian consultants. It was given no name but the tasks were simple at first. Foley's particular unit was at first responsible for hitting suspected strongholds around the Afghan-Iran border region.
However, as the years went on; the unit took on more missions that became less and less clear of their purpose. Operations near the Iran border turned to infiltrating Iran proper. Those missions turned to identifying terrorist recruiters in Europe, sabotaging industrial complexes in remote regions, assassinating a tech mogul while on a pleasure cruise. The goals' of the missions and operations became less clear and Foley liked it that way. He had fallen too hard down the rabbit hole and knew that to question anything would mean death. He had seen that result first hand.
So he kept his head down, followed his orders, and tried not to catch a bullet. He had built a reputation as loyal unit member by the time he lead a dozen unit members to a hidden scientific outpost in the Arctic. Its inhabitants were unit contracted researchers that had decided to breakaway due to a moral quandary. Foley however got cocky and paid for it in full. The researchers were desperate and that desperation led to the destruction of the outpost and the death of most of the researchers and all of the unit, save Foley.
Foley tried to pursue the survivors but eventually succumbed to his wounds and fell victim to the harsh environment.

Well, my area of study’s South Vietnam, and I do have an ARVN character in mind. But there’s a bit of a tie between a Victorian character, a Edwardian character, and a Classical Greek character. I know a bit about the clothing for the first two, and I’m currently taking classes on the last one, not to mention I might have the skeleton of a story for the last one that could be modified for the others.

The ship is actually in ancient Greece right now, so you could have a character join that way (or just have them wake up normally despite being in their own time).

Character DescriptionName: Apollonia, Wife of Eustathes
Gender: Female
Appearance:
Original Lifespan: 630-613 BC
Biological Age now: 20
Strengths and WeaknessesSkills: Lyric poetry, dance, arithmetic, reading and writing, weaving, cooking, sewing, household management, and childcare
Weaknesses: Having lived a relatively short, sheltered life, Apollonia has difficulty adjusting to new situations. Without the proper support, she quickly falls into a pit of anxiety and hopelessness. She often gets attached to the people she gets close to, and it comes back to hurt her when they either leave or die. She is often emotional and doesn't handle pressure very well. Given her previous life, she also considers herself an overall failure despite the talents she has, and has depression.
Background:
Backstory: Born to Demetrius, a prominent landowner and Olympias, daughter to a member of the Council of Areopagus, Apollonia grew up with her two brothers, one older and one younger, during the Archaic Period in Greece.
Given her status in society, Apollonia was mostly kept at home to be taught by her mother and several tutors on the ways to run a household and to be a proper woman of her station. On top of the basic skills a woman should know (cooking, cleaning, childcare, weaving, and needlework), Apollonia was taught how to read and write, arithmetic, dance, poetry, and what she held most dear to her: the ways to play the lyre. While the workload was daunting, she always looked forward to the lyre lessons, they were a happy balance to the tedium of needlework and weaving. Her love of the lyre and of poetry evolved to the point where she started to write lyrical poetry by the time she was ten, and she eventually joined a local poetry circle when she was thirteen. Her talent was quickly the talk of said circle.
It was in this poetry circle that Apollonia began to develop a relationship with Antigone, a neighbor of hers who was twice her age. Antigone had come to become an admirer of Apollonia's poetry, and in between the recitations she would gossip and give her advice. Given the fact that Antigone was married, and they were both of similar social standing, Apollonia's parents agreed to have her paired with Antigone as her erastes in pederasty, a mentorship to teach her of the aspects of being a proper wife as she matured. For the next two years, she became someone that Apollonia looked up to... someone she was starting to develop feelings for. Apollonia would remember these times as being the happiest she had ever been in her life.
Alas, all good things had to come to an end. By the time she was fifteen, she was married off to Eustathes, a more prominent landowner and a military leader twice her age. Needless to say, it was a loveless marriage, and while housework kept her busy, marriage only brought stress for her as she was away from her home, and her family, in an unknown household. What made matters worse, was the fact that Apollonia had difficulties conceiving a child, the few times she was able to conceive ended in miscarriages. This became a concern for not only her husband, but for the rest of her family as well, and for the rest of the time she would be alive she would pray to Aphrodite for fertility, as well as Apollo and Artemis for successful births. The pressure for her to give birth to children, much less a son mounted alongside the usual pressures of running a household.
Thankfully, the fact that the household had slaves that dealt with the menial tasks took some of the pressure off of her. And more importantly, despite her husband's initial hesitance, he allowed her to continue to play the lyre, and to write poetry, and allowed her to continue to go to the poetry circle she attended so long as she was properly escorted. He eventually grew to love the poetry his wife would write and sing, and Apollonia continued to meet with Antigone as she guided her through the trials of being a wife.
Two more years go by, and the bond Apollonia felt with Antigone developed into something more than that. It wasn't something she could describe, but she cherished every single minute she was able to spend with her. The want for something more stirred within Apollonia, as cracks began to form in her household from her seeming infertility. It became clear to her that what she had with Antigone was something she didn't have with Eustathes. But she understood that given her standing, it wasn't meant to be. Soon every moment spent with Antigone became agony for her, for she couldn't stop thinking of how they'd never be more closer than a mentor was to their protégé. It began to affect her disposition, her muse. Her poetry secretly lamented the reality of her situation.
Worst of all, she felt guilt for hurting her husband by having feelings for another, much less for a married woman. While her marriage was one of social convenience, and she felt nothing for her husband, it didn't make it hurt any less the fact it felt like she was failing him, betraying him. Feeling the pressures of the world around her, the loss of her unborn children, and the despair at the prospect of never truly being able to be close to the one she truly loved, she had left in the middle of the night and went to a nearby cliffside. The last memory she had was of the feeling of weightlessness as she fell into the sea.

I have a similar question for that as well, except with writing utensils, stationary, and instruments like lyres and stuff. Also, would the grey jumpsuits be the only form of clothing everyone would wear on ship?
