If so I would make both, otherwise I'll settle on which one I prefer and go with it

In recent years, he would write scathing articles about the European Union, blasting it as a socialist superstate. In the British Referendum, he would support Brexit and write in favor of it at the Wall Street Journal. While promoting the cause of Brexit, he would become acquainted with Charles Henderson. Charles asked him if he was interesting in entering politics, hoping that a prominent economist with strong ties to the US conservative movement would give his party gravitas, but Tom initially declined. After Charles left UKIP and founded the Brexit Party, however, Tom was persuaded to join and in 2019 he was named Vice-Chairman.
