The rebellion has grown to a point beyond the normal means. The police unable to keep the quell the rioting were forced into defeat and retreat as rioters organized, stole weapons, and advanced growing numbers of discontent joining then. The resistance spread to such a point that it formed into a fully active rebellion with its own territory, to make matters worse, 2 out of 6 divisions have defected to the rebels. In addition, the international community has taken an interest and the Gran Columbian Union, the damn Trotskyists internationalists threaten the national sovereignty of the nation, the functioning of the government, and to the liquidation of all class enemies. In order to prevent this outcome, the existing government of Brazil, as underwhelmed and underfunded as they are in comparison to the enemy have begun to send pleas to the international community for aid and a strategy to take a firm stand against the communist puppets and national traitors and their Gran Columbian puppet masters.

As the rebels advance with the Brazilian army forced to take a defensive line to repel the growing rebellion, or all is lost. The military remains with a force of 60,0000 standing troops, limited but existing air support, and a navy on the coast of Rio de Janeiro. The government of Brazil in response to the growing rebellion forms a defensive parameter around their cities. 60,000 troops forming a parameter against the encroaching forces.

North of Brazil: 30,000 in the north to keep the encroaching forces in the north at bay, backed by half of the available air support to help against the encroaching forces at the north western border.

South of Brazil, around Rio de Janeiro: 30,000 in the south oriented towards the city of Rio de Janeiro stand ready in the defensive around the area, backed by all the might of the Brazilian navy ready to bombard the advancing traitors and invading Columbian barbarians. Backed by half of the available air support, the navy's frigate and corvette.

EXECUTE PLAN AXE

In the People’s Red Army Building (in Brasília)...

“Fair people, it is time.” Says military general Josué Ribeiro. “We must now go for our offensive towards our oppressors, we shall go for an offensive towards the west, and a defensive in the north, we shall go and kill the oppressive soldiers of the Brazilian government.”

“We are ready to prepare for the offensive.” Says commander-in-chief Cristiano Brandão. “Our new offensive is a solid way to weaken the oppressive government, we shall go and weaken the oppressive government known as the Republic of Brazil.”

“Shall we decisively execute the plan? It may be unwise if we do it aggressively.” Asks Josué Ribeiro.

“Yes, sir.” Says Cristiano Brandão. “Shall the plan fail, which we doubt, we shall do a fallback near Brasília.”

“Very well.” Says Josué Ribeiro.

“Now we shall go for the offensive.” Orders Josué Ribeiro.

29th of Zilhicce, 1410 to 1st of Muharrem 1411
22nd of July, 1990 to 23rd of July, 1990

Second to Ramadan, but equally as important, is the the beginning of the Islamic New Year in the 1st of Muharram. One of the Holiest Months in Islam, marked by Ashura on the 10th day. In the past the month of Muharram, meaning 'Forbidden', was marked by a strict absence of warfare and often seen as time for reflection and repentance for sins of the previous year. It is unlike the celebration and cheer in the western world, seen as a solemn moment. Muslims everywhere avoid celebratory events during this time and even participate in voluntary fasting, such is the month that begins the Islamic New Year.

In Ismeil it is no different, families everywhere prepare themselves on it's eve as they practice fasting for the first time of the next year. The Hijri New Year in Ismeil is not limited to religious duties but also Secular, as legal statements regarding temporary clauses, terms of office and even contracts are determined through the Lunar Hijri Calendar. It has become common practice for the Grand Vizier along side the Caliph to make a New Years' address every consecutive year, following the tradition established by Sufi Scholar Idris Al-Karanfil who created the Ismeili Jihadi State, preceding the current Caliphate.

For the diminutive, but present Shia community, the month is filled with mourning, from the very first day until the tenth, on Ashura, marking the martyrdom of Husayn ibn Ali and his family in battle against the Umayyad Ruler Yazid I. Some professing their sadness with mortification of the flesh, utilizing chains, whips and even blades. This Year a Mourning March was organized by several prominent Shia leaders making their way from Izfakis all the way to Mecca as a show of respect to the fallen grandson of the Prophet Muhammed.

But today, as the Sun falls beyond the Horizon in Negev, beyond the Jordanian Mountains, the current year ends for Ismeili Muslims and as twilight fades into dusk a new year begins for the center of Islamic Learning and traditional residence of the ismeili leaders of the Ummah. At last light the new decade officially begins for the Exalted Ismeili State. However, until then, celebration will begin throughout the country for that brief period. Happy New Years!

The Streets of Palermo stand Empty as Locals Brace for Tensions

The tensions in the air of Palermo, Sicilia thickened this week as a result of a political rally held downtown by the Italian Communist Party. The rally, although only attended by several hundred local residents, still sent shockwaves through the city, as Armando De Russo, a rising star within the Sicilian chapter of the communist party and the communist candidate for Premier of Sicilia, had taken a hardline stance against the mafia in his rally. Signore De Russo, in essence, pledged that as Premier of Sicilia, he would ”Utilize the maximum amount of resources available to his administration in a campaign to eradicate the mafia on the island.” Though we were unable to get in contact with any leaders of the mafiosi, it can be assumed that such a statement will not be appreciated by the criminal underworld in Sicilia.

The Mafiosi, a beast as old as life in Sicilia itself, has enjoyed centuries of rule over the island, enriching themselves off the back of varying legal and illegal activities, including the sale of narcotics and alcohol, dealing in illegal firearms, gambling; as well as legal activities such as running bars and casinos. When the communist party first stood for election in Sicilia in 1954, neither side seemed to every get along. The communists viewed the mafiosi as opponents of the supposed revolution, whereas the mafiosi saw the communists as a threat to their operations on the island. Though this feud was somewhat contained for most of the 20th century, the violence has escalated in the past, such as when a previous communist party leader in Sicilia, Francesco Gualtieri, along with several associates and deputy leaders, were mowed down in the streets by hitmen armed with sub machine guns back in 1987. Though the link was never formally established by Police, many residents believe the attack as a hit, ordered by senior mafiosi leadership within the Famiglia Corleone, the leading faction in the Sicilian mafia since the early 1980s.

Though, to their credit, the communist party has not been wholeheartedly benign either. The increasingly thuggish communists have become more used to performing violent acts against rival political factions, and even some factions of the mafiosi. A dozen communist paramilitary officers, back in 1989, were arrested by the Sceriffo of Messina on charges of assaulting a local Democrat politician, and eight were convicted later that year. The four that were acquitted however, were later found to be deceased, and are widely accepted to have been the victims of several hits, ordered by the local mafiosi, loyal to the Corleonese and the Democratici.

Caio Álvares, leader of the PCRB, has suddenly and unexpectedly had a heart attack. He, could’ve been saved, but due to scarce medical equipment due to the allocation of equipment to Red Army soldiers, Álarves had died due to the heart attack.

A few hours later, the government officials in Brasília had now been informed of Álarves’ death, the officials debated on who should succeed Álarves.

A day after, everyone in the territory of the PCRB had been informed, and more and more debating struck, some officials proposed for a compromise between the Republic of Brazil and the PCRB, having the PCRB’s territory ceded to the RoB, disbanding the government, and having the Syndicalists form a political party in Brazil, with it (the party) officially being recognized as a political party.

Many officials are now agreeing for the political party compromise proposed by government official Marinho Pinho, it wasn’t only the government officials who agreed, though. Most of the populous, who supported the revolution, are now agreeing with Pinhto for a ceasefire.

The ones who would be leading were to be the head 10 officials, who were also agreeing for a ceasefire.

Plan Axe had been cancelled for the ceasefire.

A ceasefire were to be expected soon.

A severe blockage in the imperial city

>This morning the people of Borchungrad (Petersburg) woke up to an unpleasant surprise in the form of a fatberg blocking up a significant part of the sewer system resulting in not only back flows, but also spillovers into the Neva river. The efforts of cleaning it are already on the way, but it could take a while due to its size. As of now the fatberg is know to be at least 140 meters long and somewhere around 30000 kilograms, the reason for why this became a problem seems to have been related to the recent record breaking rain which overwhelmed the sewers.

>Currently infrastructure projects for improved water treatment and sewage disposal have already been proposed to fix the issue not only in Borchungrad, but also all over the country, the biggest ones being the Telman-Ulianovsk water treatment plant and the CSO projects in Borchungrad, Moscow and Vladivostok. As of now several small scale projects have already started construction and as for the big ones, they are expected to be finished sometime before the 2000.

Death of the Father

The monitor on the wall beeped slowly, rhythmically matched the the frail heart of a dying man. Xavier laid in his bed, an aid at his side, and a nurse at the other, as he struggled to push air through his mouth and back in to fill in the decaying wreck that was his lungs. He turned his head to watch the nurse tap the IV on his vein, the numbness that ran through his body had made the sensation of a needle breaking skin feel like a gentle pinch from his mother. The nurse looked at the aging 79 year old, but instead of seeing the last days of dying geriatric man, she saw a youthful smile akin to that of a child's. She sighed softly and nodded as she placed the IV down and bowed slightly as she left to go back to her office in his estate. The aid sat on a chair beside his bed, slowly reading his way through today's paper.

"How's my team doing?" Xavier asked, sitting up a bit on his bed as he looked outside, watching as the rain started to tip tap at his window. The aid looked at him a little startled but he nodded and flipped to the sports section. His team, the Congo Gorillas, were ahead this season but they saw a close game against the Nigerian Lions and Senegalese Vipers. Football was a favorite of his, he had always wanted to commit to the sport as a child but his sights were always on the military. After telling him the aid asked if he needed anything, to which Xavier shook his head and dismissed him just as a guest walked in through the door. He recognized those footsteps; the way the floorboards creaked and bent at her aura.

"My my.... Xavier you look like shit." Aurelia Courtet spoke, chuckling to herself as she took a seat beside Leke, placing her cane up against the bed and stretched. The 75 year old woman was just as spry as the day she was in office, but today she wasn't a kind old lady who cooked or her grandkids and spent time at the local park with her dog, today she was the third leader of the CAU, talking to it's fourth.

"Ha, fear not Aurelia it is only in appearance, I feel so much worse." The two laughed before Xavier paused to reel back and cough blood into his hand towel. "Well fuck... Seems I only got a few of those left in me... But enough about my incoming mortality, how have you been?" She wiped a tear from her eye after the laughing fit, offering the man a cigarette which, for the first time, he declined.

"Oh you know, enjoying the retired life. Recently came back from Italy actually, wonderful country." Xavier nodded, taking a sip from his water. "Say... has the old king always been so..."

"Deranged? Oh yes... You heard about that decree? Hersey for eating noodles?" The two laughed again, this time without the break for Xavier to cough. "Ah... What a shame, a beautiful country with such a rich history... Weighed down by a pasta obsessed lunatic." Aurelia smirked.

"I say we launch a coup! For old times sake! I got a few good men who still have a good trigger finger on them yet, we can march into that roman palace guns ablazing while you shout and screech about-" She pauses to stand on her chair, waving her cane in the air. "FOR THE GLORY OF THE UNION! FOR AAAAALL OUR COMRADES HERE AND AROAD! WE DECLARE THIS DAY OUR DAY OF LIBERATION FROM YOUR TYRANNY! DEATH TO THE MONARCHIST! DEATH TO THE CAPITALIST! DEATH TO THE LANDLORD AND THE BANKER!" Xavier fell hysterical, laughing and laying down on his bed as Aurelia came down off her chair, watching a man she hadn't seen smile in a decade finally loosen up.

"Aurelia! I swear if this cancer doesn't kill me you will!" He slowly recovered, the tip taps on the window turned into scattered knocking as the rain picked up. "Oh how I missed this..." Aurelia sighed and nodded, leaning back in her chair and looked up at the ceiling fan. "Aurelia..."

"Yes Xavier?" She looked at him and saw something new in his eye, a sparkle she wasn't familiar with.

"Did... Did I do a good job?" The question caught her off guard, he had never seemed the type to hang on approval of peers or allies. The two sat in silence for a second as Aurelia thought.

"I entrusted you with the position as Premier... But I did not elect you three times... I gave you what Okonkwo was on the path to destroy and not only fixed it but brought it to a new height of glory that not even Amon could've predicted. Xavier were given a task some would say impossible... And you did it flawlessly." There was an earnestness in her voice, one he hadn't heard since she had chosen him. Xavier sat in silence, staring out the window as the rain picked up more and more. "Xavier? You still there?" Now there was pain, each pause was filled with a slight strain.

"I'm... I'm thinking about our comrades we lost... Do you remember Comrade Johannsen?"

"The young man from Rwanda? Yes of course..."

"He's here... As is Comrade Kelly... Comrade George... Comrade Isaac... Comrade... Comrade Victor and Tucker and Lucas and James and Ophelia..." His eyes could feel the weight of the world on them, slowly dragging his eye lids lower and lower. The rain outside slammed against the window, as if begging to be let inside.

"Xavier..."

"Yes Aurelia...?" Xavier looked at Aurelia, and for a brief moment it felt as if he was standing on the runway, holding Aurelia in his arms as he stood there shell-shocked. Imprinted in his eyes and mind forever was the bright flash and mushroom cloud as he flew away from the deed he had done. He watched as a second sun was born on Earth, obliterating the ground beneath him, killing a number he would never truly know nor would he even seek to find out. There was an emptiness behind those eyes, and it took Aurelia to just hold him for it to be filled. Pulling away from the hug, Aurelia looked at Xavier and smiled as the words slowly fell out of her mouth.

Thank you for being my friend... Now rest easy comrade, this nation shall grow strong in your absence.

And suddenly the room fell deathly silent, the rain slowing to a halt as the sound of tropical birds started to sing their love songs outside. Aurelia's hand remained clasped over Xavier's as she felt it grow limp in hers, and all that was left was for the tears to slowly drip onto the floor. "Goodbye comrade... May your god show you the mercy this world did not."

The Peoples' Issue

The Intermarian government, quiet as it has been thus far on the Brazilian crisis, has decided to take a stance on the crisis. That is, being a stance of neutrality which emphasizes the constitution revolving the crisis. Stating that both the current government and the socialist rebels are illegitimate. The government for disregarding all the welfare and wishes of the people while the socialists have called upon a foreign backed revolution serving only a foreign power. The Intermarians support any intervention strictly for the purposes of a new government and constitution that does not disregard the people but does not feed into the "Gran Columbian social imperialist's parasitic agenda". Defense Minister Lukashenko had this to say on the matter:

“The Intermarians stand here strictly as a party advocating a peaceful resolution to the problem. The crisis does not serve the people, but the despicable bourgeoisie plutocrats and their government puppets, they are criminals. They attack the human rights of the people and serve no one but themselves. They do not serve the will nor welfare of the people, they do nothing. They are garbage, parasites, anti-humans of the highest order! However, the socialist rebels are also guilty here. They are communist puppets meant to only advance the imperialist agenda of the Troskyist cabal in Gran Columbia. They too do not serve the will of the people, and do not care for their welfare. They are not interested in helping the people, but advancing their own agenda while stepping on the bodies of their atrocities. The blood on their hands is just as bad if not worse than their plutocratic enemies. They are here to bring fire, death, and needless destruction. The cause not of liberation and punishing of criminals, but oppression and classicide! Killing all good men and women in their way or simply for being businessmen. No distinguishment between the honest and dishonest. The good person versus the bad. We will not condemn Isfahan intervention, but we will NOT support any that is here strictly to preserve the status quo, and we stand here awaiting in good faith that such intervention will be made strictly for peaceful constitutional resolution and reform. We will not condone any intervention that is to support the plutocrats, and we will certainly not support the evil red imperialists who wish to step on the throat of the honest man either. We stand at a crossroads and our discourse here is strictly to ensure it leads to the ideal middle ground. For the greater good of the people, for the good of Brazil, and for the sanctity of all human life, especially the people of Brazil here. Hail Sona!”

In the government Office...

The main official of the 10 officials slams his hand down and says:
“We have heard the call for a ceasefire by the UN, for the ceasefire, we needed an ambassador, so I decided to pick the person for the job, a middle-ranked official for the People’s Government, André Henriques.”

The other officials clap in agreement of André.

After the clapping, the main official said:
“I had him sent here for his pledge for ambassador, he should be here any minute now.”

As the main official finished his sentence, André opened the door with a little force, being nervous about the job, he is shaking, and then, being nervous, he stutters:
“H-h-hello fellow c-c-comrades, I-I am André He-He-Henriques, I-I am glad to g-get this j-job.”

“Glad you are here, comrade André, thank you for accepting the offer to be ambassador.” The main ambassador says to André.

Calming down a bit, André then clearly says:
“Thank you, thank you, this is my first time, if any more times, volunteering for something big, like this, and I am a bit nervous, but I do promise I will try my best at the job, to negotiate for a good future ahead, as long as the ambassador of the oppressive regime agrees, of course, and I promise to never let you all down.”

The main official plus the other officials clap for him, knowing that he’ll try his best.

The main official then says:
“Thank you all for being constructive about André, we all hope he does good!”

The other officials cheer for André, clapping in applause.

The main official, whispers in André’s ear:
“You better get us a good deal you big, ass, wreck.”

André, now a little shaked up by the main official’s harsh statement, got nervous again, and shakes. He puts up a smile to hide him being nervous a bit. After the clapping, André stutters: “Once ag-g-gain, th-th-thank you for ch-ch-choosing me for the j-job.” He then leaves the office and goes back to his governmental dorm.

At the dorm, he says to himself: If that guy thinks I’m a big ass wreak, so be it, but I will show him, after the ceasefire meeting, that I will not, be, a wreak.

The beginnings of a new era

Postby The Neo Russ Republic » Wed Jan 06, 2021 2:43 pm

3rd of August, 1990 CE

Sviatopolk Karmadiyev, Serkaria’s minister of security, walks up to the podium and says: ”Today I am pleased to announce the start of a new era for Isfahan, we alongside our allies have developed and soon will begin moving towards launching a new way of communication between people. I present to you the Isfahan purple shield Ethernet program.”

This is a Isfahan wide cross-national network security construction project sponsored by the e-government of the Arsacid Empire and the Serkarian Empire. The project includes a security management information system, a criminal information system, exiting and entry information system, supervisory information system and interneternet traffic management information system and others which would be shared among the Isfahan nations. These pilot programs were mastered and eventually adopted by all Isfahan nations. This project will be adopted to various degree within the different Isfahan pact nations

The Spokesperson of the Ministry of Public security of the Arsacid Empire Sanbyu Chaget talks about this pilot program.

“Individuals should be prohibited from using the internet to damage national securities of the Isfahan pact. To disclose national security details, protocols and secrets or injure the prime interests of the state or society is a great violation. Users will be prohibited from using the internet and measures in which that incites resistance to constitutions of the Isfahan pact nations. This purple shield project is intended to promote the security of the governments of the Isfahan pact and systems that undermines national unification. The nations of the Isfahan pact wish to suppress every and last sexual suggestive material that destroys the social orders of the societies. Our internet users are prohibited from engaging in watching materials and gambling

The spokesperson of the Ministry of Public Security of the Arsacid Empire Sanbyu Chaget also mentions a list of censored content that would be implemented in the Shield project of the Arsacid Empire.

“Censored content includes:

-Websites which belong to outlawed or suppressed groups such as pro-democracy activists, Communist agitators, Islamists, evangelical christians and other cult like groups.

-News sources which are often misreported which are often considered defamatory against the state of the Arsacid Empire such as the Voice of LFN and the Communist Voices of the Oppressed.

-Websites that promotes Arab separatism and Islamic extremism.

-Pornography and any sexually illict material.

-Websites which includes criminal content and activity

-Blogs that create political upheaval and subversive threats to the state.”

Sviatopolk Karmadiyev speaks up once more: ”As for Serkaria things that will fall under censored content may include: sites with illegal activity, gambaling, sepratist group activity and fake news reporting. These boundaries are not set in stone and are subject to changed to accommodate for new laws and changes in perception of already existing ones.”

Robert Lacey rubbed his head but was thankfully relieved at what had happened with Brazil would not be a repeat of South Africa. Something he was hopeful that could be fixed if nothing more than to keep South Africa out of the UWRF. But it would be dealt with in time now was the Brazil talks that would be happening and if there was any hope of keeping the Social Democrat-Conservative Party in power these talks would need to go well less god forbid the Unity Party come to power and do something bad. “Mister. President, what actions should we take?” One of the Generals in the room asked.

“We can’t let the UWRF get away with pulling another nation to their side from these methods of civil wars.” Robert thought back to what the rumors said on the 5th of April when CAU started to fight with South Africa. “But I’m not going to be known as the man who broke the UN, that will fall to the UWRF.”

Sounds of agreement came from across the room, he continued to speak “Let Jason our UN ambassador know these talks need to end with a neutral Brazil.” He then thought about his next words, “Put the 82nd and 101st on stand by we need to make it clear to the UWRF that we will not take this sitting down. This will be the last time they try this or we will take definitive actions against them.”
"This nation has the means to end this war in a definitive and elegant manner, we seek not destruction and conflict but a balance of power and restoration to peace, and it will be done with reason and justice from beginning to end, and the world will be grateful, only then will they see the way to true peace."

"They paint us as if we have lost the democratic traditions this nation was founded on, that can not, is not, further from the truth in this nation, do they not know what we went through? the 30 years of war that was started by men who did not listen to the people? This Republic will weather the storm, we will fight to the death and win, then welcome our enemies into our great state."

Free Louisiana Television Company, Neo Orleans, Free State of Louisiana

"Good evening fellow comrades, I am Isabella Bowman with the nightly news. The Freeman Division of the Liberated State of Virginia shipped off to participate in the UN peacekeeping missions in Brazil. The President has thanked them for answering the call to peace and helping out their fell worker. In other news the President met with the Confederate Councils this week to discuss the future of energy in the nation. The Council unanimously agreed that Climate Change is a threat to the freedom of workers across the world. The President thanked the Council for saying such, but added that the nation cannot hobble itself until it can provide the same security and freedom it does now with a new energy source. The Confederate Council has invested money into further research and education to help secure our future in a new energy world. Furthermore they have called upon the nation to follow suit. Our future depends on the minds of our children. Now let me introduce you to Professor of Economics, Charles Sampson from the University of Neo Orleans," the reporter said.

"Thanks Isabella, glad to be here," Sampson replied.

"Now everyone is wondering, what caused the events in Brazil?"

"It's quite simple really, it's the tragedy of the commons, market incentives, and poor leadership," Charles began.

"Hmm,"

"Most well known about the conflict is the state of agriculture in the nation and the cost of food. Due to such fierce competition over the many years individual farmers had to take paths that were unsustainable. They wouldn't properly take care of their fields and milk them dry of their resources. Anyone that tried that was out competed due to the difference in prices, that is till monopolies began to form. Or well, not actual monopolies, just a handful of large firms. Now they would take some steps to better take care of their fields as they were big enough too, but even then it was very little, the cheapest they could get away with. But that would also come at the cost of higher prices for consumers."

"Ahh greed, it blinds us to the future," Bowman replied, "We'll continue this talk after a commerical break,"

Screen cuts to a commercial for the latest car model

"We here at Worker's Motors are workers just like you," a voice said as it showed an automobile factory, "we work hard for our families, ourselves, and our nations."

The screen cut to the parking lot, "but we drive the true working man's vehicle. Focused for a low cost, high gas mileage, and enough amenable to suit an entire family. Drive on down to your local WM Co-opt and show your neighbors you're a working man!"

Italian Soldiers Prepare for Deployment

The Italian Army will join the peacekeeping effort in Brazil under a joint Latin command, according to lawmakers in Roma. In the aftermath of a brutal revolt and an unprovoked invasion by Colombia, Brazil now stands largely in ruins. With the passage of a peacekeeping resolution in the United Nations, however, a large scale contingent of peacekeepers will be deployed to Brazil to assist in rebuilding the nation, including units from all over the world as part of the humanitarian effort to rebuild the country.

The Italian contingent will the Divisione Bersaglieri Garibaldi, which includes both of the Division’s Regimental Combat Groups (RCGs). In addition to the two regimental combat groups, each comprised of three regiments and an artillery battalion, the Division is also equipped several support units, those being an engineering battalion, a medical services battalion, a logistics battalion, and a signal battalion, all in addition to a headquarters company to administer the division. The support units of the Division, according to the senior enlisted officer of the unit, Sergente Maggiore Luigi Grieco, will be the focus of the peacekeeping operation in the country, as the engineering and signal battalions will be directed to repair and rebuild infrastructure in Italy’s operational zone, whereas the medical services and logistics battalion will be tasked with distributing food, medical care, and other necessities to the Brazilian people.

The PR-706, the parliamentary resolution passed on Thursday regarding the humanitarian effort, permits President Provenza and the Italian Army to deploy units to Brazil for up to 360 days, with the ability to renew the deployment for an additional 360 days with consent from both legislative houses. The Division will be deployed to southeastern Brazil, a region of the country that holds a significant population with Italian heritage.

IWEC HQ, Central City, CAU
08/11/1990

Joseph Clements looked at the no smoking sign at the entrance of the conference hall with a begrudging sigh, sliding his pack of “Congo Reds” back into his chest pocket and fixing his suit before entering. He was slightly late due to traffic as the other IWEC representatives were already seated at their assigned spots.

“Pardon the late arrival comrades, someone let the dog out this morning and we spent nearly half the day finding him.” He chuckled slightly as he took a seat and produced documents from within his briefcase. “Let us commence with, now, our third meeting of the IWEC, our main topic will be our European efforts”

Carolyn Gold nodded, “No need to worry President Clements, life happens. But yes the Labour Council has been hard at work negotiating an agreement with Greenland. Has everyone had a chance to read it?”

“Yes if I am to be mistaken the CAU has promised 5 units of diamonds and other jewels whilst the GCU has promised a similar 5 units of its oil reserves.” He scans through the paper, gently tapping his finger on the table.

“Yes and the People’s Councils have approved the sale of 5 units of Natural Gas,” Carolyn Gold replied.

“Everything looks alright” responded Pablo Escobar as he was reading through the papers and holding a cup of hot coffee in his hand. “Mmm… nothing compares to some good old Colombian coffee. Maybe we should export more of it”

GCU will export 5 oil for .75 yearly points
CAU will export 5 Luxury goods for .75 yearly points
PCCA will export 5 natural gas for .75 yearly points

“Good Evening Empire, Robert Green here with the nightly news. The city of Warsaw in the Sonacist Union of the Intermarium, it briefly shut down traffic through a major thoroughfare. Such happens with socialist governments. Computers arrived in Kipchakistan for consumer use for the 1st time last month. While computers have been apart of government work for the past couple years, the ability for regular consumers to access the product has been limited until recently. In Central Amalia the so called military exercises the Confederates are engaging in is off to a good start as reports have come out they damaged a nearby Mayan ruin. Finally the nation of Drucezschski and the Great Basin have signed a defense pact, this agreement is independent of the one Drucezschski holds with members of the Isfahan pact but the nation of Drucezschski has called upon Isfahan to welcome the small theocratic nation into the pact.”

At Sherman Military base the 82nd Airborne was getting ready to deploy for their new mission help in the peacekeeping matters of the nation of Brazil. The 82nd was especially suited to this role for the reason it’s helicopters would allow for quick movement of troops in and around the jungles of Brazil. There was as well a second role for the division to make sure that either the rebels or the UWRF-IWEC did not try something to further their own goals in Brazil. The 82nd was there to keep the peace and they would do that.

The 82nd will be deploying to Brazil to assist in the UN peacekeeping efforts in the current conflict

The state of the monarch

13th of August, 1990 CE

>In the recent press conference Paul II had a coughing fit which resulted in him leaving the speech early. Since then many other outlets have taken this as an opportunity to make up stories about his declining health or some very “creative” people like Arne Bermitiev, a well know charlatan and snake oil salesmen, took it even further by coming up with a conspiracy theory about him being poisoned by the nihilists in an attempt to end the monarchy in his own words “Just how they did with Olga the great”.

>The real story though is much simpler. He just had a soar throat and needed to walk away for a bit to relax, but unfortunately most people aren’t going to believe this and instead will see this as attempt by the “Underground world order” to cover up their attempt to corrupt Serkaria and its natural place in the world. But thankfully this doesn’t have to end so bleakly, with the newly implemented purple shield Serkaria can ban fake news and conspiracy theories as part of the censored content. This would dramatically increase the credibility of news sources as they would now be required to check if the story is actually true or making any illogical assumptions based off of the know information.

Central News Network

Facts Over Fiction.
August 20th, 1990

"Good Evening I'm Christopher Ingolo." "And I'm Julia LeBlanc, this is Central New Network with today's headlines... Today's headline, as the nation overcomes its mourning of our former Premier Xavier Leke, a national memorial was held with a vigil being held in the Congo as millions attend his funeral. Many, including those of marginalized communities, honor a man who fought for their rights and brokered many of the important alliances that have kept the CAU strong and prosperous. While the nations recovers from this loss, Premier Amelia Armstrong has announced new changes that will be rolled out before the years end. The changes, falling under the title "The 21st Century Plan", will see the vitalization of rural and urban areas, starting with the capital.

"Yes, under the plan, Capital City will be seeing not only a new change of face but also will be falling under a new name. The city will be renamed to Kropotkina, after the famed anarchist and socialist thinker, while the city itself we now have a new set of rules and guidelines for new and pre-existing structures. The current slate of Brutalist architecture will be overdone with a more ecological-centric design, with empty spaces being turned into green spaces, with trees, flowers and even gardens being planted. For new buildings, especially ones near the city center, will no longer have to follow the strict building design code, and the local community can vote on what kind of architecture they wish to start seeing. This mandate will go into effect by the end of the month for Kropotkina, but will be rolled out nationally by the end of the year with the hope of new look for the Union by the end of the century.

"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs have announced a new program to bring free thought around the world, using the power of the radio. Foreign Minister Phoenix Walker has called the program the "Radio Free Project", who's main focus is to bring unbiased, unfiltered news through a global broadcast."

"The Radio Free Project," Minister Walker speaks "will solve an issue that has begun to plague the world yet again, the fear that true honest journalism is being undermined by state actors. Our goal is to have journalists report the news in 27 languages in 23 countries where a free press is banned by the government or not fully established. All one needs to recieve the news is a simple HAM Radio and the signal. There will be 6 stations, one for each continent on the globe."

"The stations, which will be distributed by request, are the following: Radio Free Europe (771.22 kHz), Radio Free Asia (771.31 kHz), Radio Free NA (772.12 kHz), Radio Free SA (772.31 kHz), Radio Free Africa (772.59), and Radio Free Oceania (891.77 kHz)."

"That's all the time we have now, stay tuned for more news as we update you on the hour. Thank you and have a good evening."

The expedition begins

Postby The Neo Russ Republic » Sat Jan 09, 2021 4:35 pm

20th of August, 1990 CE

>The Serkarian submergible vehicles conglomerate, Podmor, along with the Serkarian and Polynesian governments has organised a joint manned expedition to the bottom of the Mariana trench. The expedition will approximately only take a few hours, but it will be very difficult due to the giant pressure that the submarine would be exposed to meaning that if the sub had even one sizeable problem it could lead to the sub imploding, killing all the passengers and scientists aboard. So Podmor and the Serkarian government owned SerSub made sure to make the submarine to the highest quality possible to withstands the immense pressure at the bottom.

>Paul II appears at the podium and speaks up: "It is a great honour to be able to advance the scientific fields like oceanography which take interest in our planet. As entertaining it is to think of us expanding beyond our planet into outer space we have to realise that while we are still developing the necessary technology we should take care of what we currently have while we still can. This expedition was organised by us and the government of Polynesia, alongside our associates at Podmor and SerSub, to show just how little we know about our own planet and how truly alien Earth is even to us, its inhabitants." After Paul II finishes the speech, he lights a ceremonial fire and throws in a piece of bark with a prayer for the expeditionary vessels passengers before ascending to its deck. As the crowd cheers the ship slowly goes farther and farher into the distance before completely disappearing below the horizon.

Heart of Darkness pt. 1

Postby Yottabota » Sat Jan 09, 2021 11:20 pm

August 21st, 1990
Time:
1209
Estcourt, South Africa
Operation:
Silverback

Jacob handed over the 50 cents over to the street vendor as he picked up an apple that laid fresh on their cart, taking a large bite out of it as he walked down the quiet street of this small town less than 100 miles from the city of Durban, a city still recovering from the war that plagued it earlier in the year. He scanned the street, a single lane feeder road that ran parallel to Route 3, and saw just a handful of cars with even less pedestrians walking about their days. He spotted an elderly man, sitting on a bench by the marketplace and moved towards him, consuming the apple as he walked before discarding it along the road.

"Pardon me, mind if I take a seat?" The elderly man looked up and simply nodded while scooting over an inch, newspaper with the daily gossip in his hands.

"Come sit, there's plenty of room..." Jacob nodded back at him, taking up the seat as he leaned back slightly, casually glancing down the road to the small hospital. "I assume you're with them?" Jacob thought of an answer but simply slid over an envelope from his hoodie's pocket.

"The Union greatly appreciates you coming forward with information." The old man looked at the envelope and just sighed softly to himself.

"It is not easy, for a grandfather to betray the trust of his own grandchildren... I only ask for you to treat them well." Jacob didn't respond, just looking at him as he waited for the information. "Anyways... They are staying at the hospital, a little down the way. The staff aren't in on it, but the administration is; from what he has told me, they will be settled in the morgue area, just under the surgery wing." As the old man spoke, a van not far off picked up his words as they were spoken into Jacob's microphone hidden under the hoodie. The information was relayed once again, to a ground team rapidly approaching via the main road. Inside the hospital, informants had already begun to alert the staff to evacuate patients and guests to the parking lot, whilst holding the administration at bay in their offices. The air was quickly filled with shouting, screaming, and the occasional blast of a breach charge detonating, or a flashbang exploding which were then followed up by a back and forth of pops.

"CLEAR HALLWAY! CLEAR HALLWAY!" The Sierra 7 operator shouted as a grenade rolled down the hall and exploding, sending shrapnel and debris all over the once pristine hospital tiles. Boer Insurgents, remnants of the South African army that defected once the SASR declared it's victory, leaving a small division of die hard Boers to fend for themselves. They had gone by a few different names, but this sector called them "Wit Legioen" or White Legion, abandoning any pretense of democracy and vowing to crave out a white ethnostate in the heart of Africa. Their leader was still in hiding, but every day a section of the snake is cut, and soon only it's head will remain. As the S7 team moved in, Jacob sat outside by the armored transport with his hand on the radio, watching as smoke billow from outside as the fighting intensified. The Sierra 7 team took out two insurgents in the hallway before moving down towards the morgue, where an LMG was set up and began taking shots at the special forces members. An operative was injured on the stairs, the bullets of the mounted gun tearing through his leg, but he was caught by his squadmate and dragged back up the stairs as the rest of the team formed up on the corner of the staircase.

"Get the 40!" The captain called out as the demolitions expert came to the front with his grenade launcher in tow. Shoving in a fresh HE round into the breechloaded grenade launcher before taking a carful peak around the corner. The staccato of firing had ceased, and beyond the nest they could hear the Afrikaners yell at each other to reload faster. With a quick calculation, the demo fired it just past the nest and directly behind them, detonating on impact, as well as detonating the ammo being carried by one of the insurgents. There was a bright flash for a nano-second before the hallway erupted into smoke as high explosives and small arms ammunition fired off in every direction. The screams from the terrorists were drowned out quickly as the pops from ammo stopped and the team rolled in past the corner, executing any surviving insurgent and kicking down any door on their path. Just as they were about to reach the ambulance section of the hospital, adjacent to the morgue, the door of the morgue erupted, taking out two of the operatives and stunning the rest. As they sat there stunned and recovering, an operative barely noticed a man in plain clothes running out to the ambulances from the morgue, fitting the description of the HVT: Johannes Wilson, a lieutenant.

"This is Baker 3-5, we got eyes on HVT, he's moving South East into the parking lot!" The radio buzzed and Jacob gestured to the operator beside him who nodded, coordinating a separate team to move in and secure the area. There was a brief moment of silence, but after what felt like an hour the crackle of radio static broke the silence.

"We got him! We got him! Target secure, taking him to extraction!"

"Copy, birds are on their way." The operator responded as Jacob communicated with a Huey that was in transit to their position. Within a few hours the South African police had arrived with their own special forces unit to handle the low level terrorist, whilst the HVT was taken back to Kropotkina for questioning...

AUgust 22nd, 1990

Hakkari had always been Osphenian territory, so says the romantic nationalists at the Universities in the west. Hakkari had always been an important economic gateway into Iraq and the Persian gulf, so says the Parliamentarian in Coralios. Hakkari had always been of vital strategic importance to Osphen, so says the overly-medaled generals at High Command.

For the soldier, who had been posted on the mountains overlooking the small town, the city served as his only means of relief from the boredoms that came with national service. Late at night, in the early hours of the morning, in the afternoon, or at dawn, the soldier would look to the small city of 50,000 inhabitants and watch the comings and goings of its people. He would watch the lights in the houses and buildings turn on as the sky darkens, and imagine who lived in those houses. It was to alleviate the boredom, and at the outpost, that was the one thing that was in ample supply. When he wasn’t on watch, he was variously performing routine patrols, eating, fixing something that was always broken, or doing absolutely nothing.

Today was a little different, however. An agent from the ministry of intelligence came by. The captain said not a word was to be said about his presence at the outpost to anyone outside of the outpost, and, preferably, not a word would be spoken about it even amongst the soldiers.

Of course, being soldiers, they talked about the agent. No one saw him enter the base, and no one saw him exit the base. The commanding officer spoke to him for 5 minutes and he took off to Hakkari promptly. The soldier would often think of that agent and what he would do in Iraq. But on certain sleepy nights, he figured that on some idle morning, the headlines would give him a hint of what’s to come.

OOC: The agent won’t do much more than gathering basic on the ground information like what the political and social situation is in iraq, he won't be affecting change or anything. THis post is to signal the beginning of Osphenian influence in the region.

Una Rivoluzione Carbonizzato

La Sala Del Popolo - Palermo, Sicilia

Image

La Sala Del Popolo; the Hall of the People; stands as the headquarters of the Sicilian chapter of the Italian Communist Party. The communists have worked tirelessly converting the once abandoned apartment building into a suitable facility for their operations, renovating the ground level to house a grand assembly hall for the communist party’s official meetings, with the former apartments on the first, second, and third floors (1) serving the official purpose of holding offices for varying officials of the communist party, and the unofficial purpose of storing stockpiles of weapons, ammunition, and explosives, to be used in the case that the people fail to see the infinite and wondrous glory the revolution would bring to all, save for the ruling class and their goons.

The main assembly chamber was filled to capacity this evening, as communist officials from all over Sicilia had convened for the Party’s annual conferences. On tonight’s agenda was of course, the nomination of Armando Del Russo, chairman of the Sicilian Communist Party, as the party’s official nominee for the Premiership of Sicilia. The current Premier, Luigi Messina, was an outspoken Democrat and spearheaded the anti-communist movement on the island. Thus, he was not only an enemy of the Party, he was an enemy of the people. Furthermore, Del Russo and the other high ranking members of the communist party would be forced to address another challenge to their ascension to power: the mafiosi. Reports had been rolling in for weeks of increased hostility between the mafia and communist party members, with several communists being badly beaten and even shot by hitmen the party could only assume were paid off by the mafia. The communists were hardly innocent in this feud, however, as the Party’s enforcers had gained a reputation for rowdiness as well, with the police even going as far as arresting a communist enforcer, charging him with stabbing a signore Salvatore Grasso, one of the Corleone Family’s top lieutenants.

The speaker of the Party, a tall and thin man, stood at the podium at the center of the main assembly hall, silently waiting for the seemingly endless line of officials to enter and be seated. The single entrance into the hall was a burden, for only a few could pass through at any given time, otherwise the bottleneck would leave a never ending traffic jam. As the last officials entered and were seated, the speaker began:

”Bouna sera, compagni. Welcome to the Sicilian Communist Party’s 60th anniversary meeting. First on our agenda is the party’s nomination for Premier of Sicilia. We have tallied the votes from last week’s polling, and I would like to invite the victor, Compagno Armando Del Russo, to the podium to accept the Communist Party’s nomination for the Premiership of Sicilia.”

The room burst into applause as Armando stood and made his way to the center of the hall. He had long been a respected force in the sicilian chapter of the communist party, having joined while enrolled in the University of Palermo. Since graduating, he had worked as an organizer for the communist party, organizing rallies and protests, coordinating resources with communist party chapters on the mainland, and recruiting new members for the revolution. Secretly, he was also chief architect of the party’s shadier dealings, having acquired an arsenal of small arms, explosives, and enough ammunition for a small army. These munitions, of course, would be gladly spent on those who would dare oppose the revolution, by any means. And now, the revolution was eyeing control of Sicilia.

”Bouna sera, compagni.” Del Russo started, shuffling the copy of his speech onto the podium. ”It is with great honor I accept the Party’s nomination for the Premiership of Sicilia. For too long has the working class of Sicilia, and Italia as a nation, suffered under the relentless greed of the ruling class. This suffering is the fault of Roma, the King and his posse. They have subjected Il Proletariato to corporate greed for generation after generation, their willingness to hand over the lives of the poor for monetary gain ever apparent. Premier Messina is merely an enforcer of this status quo. We must remove him from power altogether, and take the revolution from the halls of Palermo straight to Roma! We ought to never rest, until the freedom of Il Proletariato is attained across Bella Italia, and the weak and foolish ruling class is smashed to pieces with an unrelenting, unforgiving fury!”

The speech garnered thunderous applause, as dozens of party officials stood in solidarity with Del Russo. It was now clear, those who subjected Il Proletariato to it’s misery and suffering were doomed to be crushed, under the weight of the Proletariato’s boot. Or, so the communist party would have you believe…

Outside the hall stands a lone enforcer stands guard at the base of the steps, smoke puffing from his smoldering cigarette. His right arm, wrapped in a red armband adorned with the hammer and sickle, rests on his hip, mere centimeters from a holstered Beretta. Slung over his should was a Benelli shotgun, the icy barrel of the gun pressing into his jacket as the cool breeze dances through the evening air. It was getting late, the clock had just passed 2230, and the communist meeting inside was still in full swing. The few passerby’s that dared walk past were met with a cold stare and a hand that wandered closer and closer to his holstered handgun. His sole mission this evening was to provide security for the communist officials in Palermo this evening. However, he was not just some low level sentry, and most certainly not some underpaid fool shackled by the chains of the capitalist society in which he was born. He was part of the hammer that would smash the ruling class into many pieces. He was the vanguard of the people’s revolution, that was destined to ascend to rule Sicilia, rule over Italia, and then one day, the world.

His thoughts were interrupted, a shout echoing from down the street towards the local bar that many locals frequented. The guard looked, his eyes greeted by three men walking straight for him, a cold and aggressive stare in their eyes. From the dim light from streetlamp, the guard can clearly make out two carrying rifles, and the third had a handgun drawn. The guard turned to face him, but before he could draw his own gun, a hard thud from behind sent him to the ground, collapsing in a tangled heap onto the pavement beneath him. A fourth man that was standing behind him was now visible, a bloodied crowbar in his hand. The four men, now joined by several others, convened at the base of the hall. The leading man, clad in a suit and a Spectre M4 in hand, dropped his lit cigarette onto the pavement, and from his lips parted a distinct whistle, as if he were paging his dog. No dog, however, was being paged this evening. Instead, a SUV rounded the corner from the alley, grinding to a halt outside the steps of the building. Out of it poured multiple men, heavily armed with rifles, shotguns, and cannisters of gas. Several other groups emerged from the alleys, with similar accessories in hand. With his army descending on the hall, the lead enforcer ascended the steps, and approached the locked door, the only thing standing between him and the fate of the communists inside. His only reaction was a mere smirk as his enforcers kicked in the door and moved quickly to assert control of the entrance hall.

The mafiosi moved quickly, taking control of the entrance into the main hall, where the communist party’s meeting was being held. The lone guard, who attempted to thwart the initial advance, met the same bloodied crowbar as his comrade, and collapsed to the ground, most certainly dead. The lieutenant, now satisfied and certain that the stealthy portion of the operation was complete, handed the crowbar off to one of his soldiers, before lighting another cigarette to be placed on his lips. With a single motion of his hand, his soldiers kick in the doors to the main hall and storm it, their shouts drowning out the confused yelps and cries of the party members, and several lone bullets now embedding themselves into the ceiling.

Armando had just finished his speech as the door was flung open, sending the meeting into chaos as a sea of armed men stormed the hall, their shouts and warning shots drowning out the brilliant confusion of the applause Del Russo had just earned, mixed with the yelps and shouts of communist and intruder alike. Within moments, one of the intruders was upon him, yet before Armando could raise a hand in defense, he was met with a hard blow to the head, the stock of an M16 rifle sending him tumbling towards the ground beneath him. As he staggered to his feet, a second blow to the gut winded him, and he returned to the floor. As he looked around, he could see his compagni being corralled into the center of the chamber like cattle, with a wide assortment of rifles, shotguns, and submachine guns fencing them in. From the corner of his eye, Armando could even see several intruders ripping the revolution’s sacred iconography off the walls, dousing them and the surrounding floor with gasoline. Others he could see down the hall, carrying out crates and crates of the revolution’s munitions, and his mind could only come to the conclusion that the weapons of the revolution would now be used against his compagni.

Armando finally staggered to his feet, using the podium as a crutch. All around him, confused and angry communist officials had met a similar fate has him, being struck with fist and rifle stock. A well dressed man brandishing a spectre m4, the Italian Army’s submachine gun of choice, made his way through the crowd of gunmen, facing Armando. An evil smirk formed from the man’s mouth, as the smoke from his cigarette puffed into his face, irritating Armando’s lungs. A moment of tension filled the air as the man stared Armando down, the tension so thick it could be sliced open with a knife. Finally, the stalemate broke when the man’s fist connected with Armando’s jaw, a distinct crack ringing in Armando’s ears as he stumbled backward. As he regained his composure and tended his wound, he could only look upward at his assailant.

”Don Corleone sends his regards, stronzi.” the man scoffs, cocking his submachine gun and tossing his cigarette to the ground.

Venerdi, 24 Augusto - 0430

The once dark streets were now enlightened with a brilliant coalition of red and blue lights, the wailing sirens deafening the alleys and backstreets. The road outside the burned hall is blockaded off, as an army of polizia, carabinieri, firefighters, and emergency medical personnel swarm the building. A handful of detectives collect what little evidence they can find in the charred ruins An endless parade of stretchers flow into the charred and smoky rubble, and slowly filing out carrying the lifeless bodies of now retired communist officials and enforcers. Smoke billowed from rubble, pluming upward and towards the heavens, the apparent new home of the communists that once attended tonight’s joint meeting. If only the communists had learned just a little sooner….challenging the mafia’s power always ends in disaster, and not for the mafiosi.

Editor’s Notes:
  • (1): In Italy, a building’s ground level is just called the ground level, and the subsequent stories above are numbered (so the first level is actually one story above the ground level, second story is two stories above, et cetera). I don’t recall if this system is used elsewhere tbh, it might be.
  • (2): The Communist Party and the Mafia had a longstanding feud in Sicily irl, and that is what I was inspired by to write this post.
  • (3): The double post was approved by Tarazed
