Well, we gonna figure out why Thane would even join Shepard at this point of the plot. It was in the second game that Thane joined Shepard on Illium, plus he's dying from Kepral's Syndrome, and the reason that he joined was to hope that he would die fighting the Collectors as to redeem his past evils.

Batarians year later have reverse-engineer extensive biomods to help everyone. No one knows because of Batarian controlled media.

Oh I fully expected that. I mean, my next turn is to do something similar anyways. I would have done it this turn, but I was uncertain if doing so without any kind of experience would be a good idea. I'm not sure the failure rate on that sort of thing or the penalty for failure. We will see once everyone gets a post up.

I thought the same thing, but I figure trying to establish a claim would be a safer option than going and pressing that claim. Besides, no one is claiming the other world I have a claim on just yet.

Yeah you're right, it wouldn't make sense at this point. I'm a bit rusty on Thane's backstory.

Thane was released from his compact a while ago and is no longer under the Hanar and now he spends his time on Illium, doing his own brand of justice likely (after the revenging of her wife, Irikah, first).

In theory, yes. You can recruit one of the most deadliest assassins, but Thane is not doing work for money no longer, I believe. He's attempting to redeem himself.
