Since we're finally getting to the juicy bits of the Battle of Fondor, I've decided to create quick rundown of potential targets in the Fondor system, and the defensive network, so that the NR players have a better idea of what exactly they can attack and where.

Fondor’s shipyards are a large and pretty important asset to the Empire, but are as of right now a little neglected compared to the more favoured Kuat shipyards as the Empire itself retreats back to its Core territories. They are as follows:

1 shipyard station capable of producing an Executor-class or Mandator III-class SSD in 3 years of concerted production. It had one under construction at the time of the Battle of Endor but that was removed and transported to another station closer to the Core for completion due to difficulties in defending Fondor itself. The bay is currently empty, but the station would nonetheless be regarded as a particularly important target. This station is on the same side of the planet as Tranto’s fleet station, and is directly protected by the nearby Golan II, 3 Golan Is further afield and both XQ-2 hangar stations.

2 shipyard stations capable of producing a total of 3 Praetor Mk I-scale vessels. These stations can also produce smaller SSDs, like Allegiances or Secutors. These two stations currently hold a single Secutor between them, with the other 2 bays undergoing an overhaul to increase their efficiency. One is on the opposite side of the planet, directly protected by a single Golan II and 2 Golan Is, while the other is alongside the large SSD shipyard.

4 shipyard stations capable of producing a maximum of 12 ISD-scale vessels between them simultaneously. They can similarly produce smaller vessels. There are a total of 9 ships in the bays, 3 Tectors and 6 ISDs respectively, in varying stages of completion. 2 Tectors and 1 ISD are only frame with over a year to completion, 4 ISDs and 1 Tector are somewhere around halfway completed with between 5 and 10 months left to completion, and a single ISD is very near to commissioning, with only testing and system integration left. This ISD has around 2 weeks left in the slips before it’s fully ready, but can be manned and used in battle immediately, as it is essentially completed. However, it wouldn’t be maximally effective, and furthermore has no crew immediately available, as they are currently training on a ground facility. These shipyards are split in groups of 3 between the protection of the Golan II stations, with the near-completed ISD being across the planet from Tranto.

9 shipyard stations capable of producing a maximum of 17 Gladiator-scale vessels at once. They are currently producing 2 Gladiators, 3 Ton Falks and 5 Vindicators, with 1 Gladiator and 2 Vindicators nearing completion. These are spread across the planet’s low orbit but are all directly protected by at least 1 Golan I.

14 shipyard stations capable of producing 31 Arquitens-scale vessels at once. They are producing, between them, 6 Arquitens, 8 Raider IIs, and 9 Lancers, with 3 Arquitens, 5 Raiders and 4 Lancers predicted to reach completion in the next 2 month. These stations are spread similarly to their slightly larger cousins, all protected by a minimum of a single Golan I.

There is also a significant amount of infrastructure in higher orbits around Fondor. These infrastructural stations include vast numbers of small depots, fuelling stations, handover stations for ferrying to and from the surface, sorting yards, etc. There are a few particularly important stations in high orbit: 7 major fuel depots, 3 traffic control stations, 6 large docking yards, 10 freight yards and a single, large civilian interstellar communications station in equatorial orbit for quick communications relays with the rest of the galaxy. The military’s comms are separately handled from the surface.

The defences protecting all of this are substantial. The orbital defences consist of 3 Golan IIs, 10 Golan Is, and 2 XQ-2 Hangar Stations. The Golan IIs are arranged in equatorial orbit in an equilateral triangle, each around 1000km from the surface. This allows them broad arcs, and can mutually support each other for everything except for extremely close targets. These are supported by 3 Golan Is each, themselves spread in an equilateral triangle around each Golan II, with sides of 500km between them. This set of 1 Golan II and 3 Golan Is is designated a “Cluster”, being Cluster A, Cluster B and Cluster C respectively. The two XQ-2s are in formation with Cluster A, which protects the large SSD shipyard, and is closest to Tranto’s fleet’s position. The two ground-based W-165s are positioned on polar opposite positions on the equator of the planet, with good arcs on potential approaches on all shipyard positions and Clusters. Their blindspots are covered by the Low Orbit ground defences, which consist of a fairly impressive array of turbolasers and lower-end ion cannons, with maximum ranges up to 50 000km, covering the entirety of the planet. I will not give concrete numbers, but there are sufficient to make entering low orbit dangerous, but not suicidal. The final Golan I is in a polar orbit, with an orbital period of 90 minutes, so it comes into view of a potential target for 60 minutes of those 90 minutes at minimum.

I'd say probably mid-fight with the PA but it'll really depend on how fast their forces are coming in. I do need to know this because them getting detected by the Fondor Garrison fleet will heavily affect how how I react in my next post

My proposal:

Immediatly. Any ship exiting hyperspace near the edge of a planets gravity sphere (the closest you can get) should be detected immediatly. Especially around a planet like Fondor, cronau radiation sensors would be all over the place.

Any attempt at stealth insertion would require sublighting towards a planet from further inside the system.

Yeah, we jumped at the edge-of-system, so I think it would take a scouting vessel to detect us.

About the PA reinforcements, I was thinking I could change my post to have TF22 be a advance force a few systems away? Maybe hiding in deep space?

Yeah, absolutely. TF 22 will be in deep space near Bassadro, and the only nearby PA force. And I can't reinforce the TC.

I think that'd work pretty well.

I'd hesitate to have it be 3 whole ISDs and so little accompanying fleet with them. Maybe cut one of the ISDs and have a couple of frigates and Victories in its place? You don't always need to have ISDs be accompanied but I think for a full reinforcement fleet some accompaniment would allow greater tactical flexibility.

As for the actual ongoing engagement, do I have the freedom to actually inflict losses on your ISDs during my upcoming post or would you rather that you wrote for that yourself?

You can most certainly do whatever attack and provide what your forces estimate the damage to be, but then I might slightly change stuff. Does that make sense? I think it better illustrates what either side would know.

And as far as escort purposes, your point makes sense. I'll look and see what escort craft I can field.

Alright, so I'm thinking the damage is that Kay's ship is crit'd, and we've probably lost 14 some fighters. Did I miss anything? And I'm thinking the PA reinforcements will come in next post, probably a bit off the planet, but not to where they'd pick up the TC... and speaking of the Consortium, their scouts will be seeing the battle shortly. Should a brief message on the comms be enough to alert scanners nearby?

It depends on the message I'd imagine. If it's a full-blast interstellar message, you'd probably pick up the energy signature, since it's going to carry a hell of a lot of energy with it, but local comms or tight beams between individual ships probably wouldn't unless the scanner in question is positioned to directly intercept and has high-end gear. If we're talking about Kay's reinforcement request, that'd probably pick up on the TC's scanners, but since it's encrypted I doubt they'd know what to make of it.

As for damage, I'd agree the the ship's taken critical damage, but she probably won't be impossible to salvage because of where it hit. Hell of a lot of repair work to do though, not something you could do on the fly.

Ok, yeah, so I am going to go with a little handheld communicator from the scouts to the TC, which, given how the Thrawn catapult was used, I assume will not be picked up on scanners.

I'm going to post, and if there are any problems, I can edit.

Ok, I think after this post (the one I'm talking about up above) would be an excellent time for his arrival.

OP of Empire's End RP, Frequenter of P2TM, and part of the F7 delegation along with -Astoria, Valentine Z, Western Fardelshufflestein, La Xinga, and Nooooooooooooooo.
“...My only complaint is that this guy seems to have plot armor thicker than the hull of a battleship. What’s this Holy Grail thing, anyway? I tried looking it up using foreign information networks but I kept seeing footage of knights being butchered by a rabbit... I don’t think that was a legitimate source.”

...and Josephus sorta started a nuclear war, so I'll just ignore the fact that Kakistopia has almost 50% of deaths due in some part to the God-Empress, and I'll also ignore that Josephus XII was raised as a child-soldier, and I'll say Josephus is the more horrible leader.

I think a problem I'm seeing is that the damage to the Adamant is way oversold. The hit's pretty destructive and it'd certainly weaken her, but since it hit about a third of her length from any of the major systems I doubt it'd be grounds to have Kay and co. start evacuating the entire ship. I would change that to have the Adamant damaged but still functional, and then have Kay transfer her flag across to an undamaged ship if you want to retain her leaving the ship. If the Revoker can survive the hit it did and still get out of the area of battle, the Adamant should at least be partially fighting fit, at least enough to limp out of firing range after the reinforcement fleet arrives and jump away, if nothing else. Realistically though, she'd still stick in formation and try to fight it out. Kaine's order of no retreat seems pretty binding

Oh, yeah, the crew isn't evacing, but the bridge is destroyed, so command will be rough. The Adamant will remain operational. Honestly I think it would be smarter to leave it in range and try and block some hits with it, because I don't think the PA has any shipyards that could be spared to fix it.

So I'm making a google drawing with the current fleet positions, what ships do you have on site?

At the moment I have an Allegiance, an ISD, a VSD II and a Venator, along with their frigate screen, about 1000km above and to the east of Cluster A. In terms of defences with arcs on Kay's fleet, I have a Golan II, 3 Golan Is surrounding it with arcs on Kay, and another Golan I about to enter firing lines, alongside a W-165 which currently cannot fire on Kay because Cluster A is in the way. I also have low orbit defences sufficient to match my current defensive fleet's firepower with arcs on Kay, but they aren't firing for fear of hitting stations further afield

As for a rundown on all the forces, Tysk and I are busy working on seeing whether we can do a neat visual representation with the program he showed here a little earlier, so that may be the format for this going forward.

Ok, the program being that map software?

Here's what I've got:

I didn't include your frigates because I wanted to make sure I got fleet positions and major ships right first.

Hmmm yeah that really does look clean. I made a quick and dirty version in a default editor of what I'd imagined as being force position immediately after my post that I'll also post here quickly
