I’ve had this RP idea for a while now, it would require a lot of time and effort to make for me so I wanted to gauge and see how many people would be interested in this before going ahead and making an RP, as far too many RPs where OPs clearly put hours of effort into fizzle out
It’s a mafia RP taking place in an alternate New York City, I’m not too well versed in modern American history, but based on my research, organized crime was still influential until the election of Nixon. So in this alternate timeline, Richard Nixon is never elected president, and the whole "law and order" crackdown never happens. In this alternate NYC, mafias continue racketeering, and becoming more and more powerful, so much that the 2000s in NYC and other major cities in the US are nicknamed "The second golden age of the mafia," with the 1930s being the first.
By 2020, New York City, while still being the cosmopolitan city of today at face value, is dominated by multiple influential mafias, many having significant amounts of control over the city government, and the New York state government as a whole. You will RP as a low to medium ranking character, and as the RP progresses, there will be opportunities for you to move up the ranks of your mafia, found a new one yourself, etc.
