We'll have Space Trotsky and Space Stalin eventually. Either it would be fine, or it would consume itself.

I’m curious, is it the emperor himself he hates or the idea of the emperor? As the current one seems pretty good imo

He hates the idea of an Emperor. He's primarily influenced by Marx's idea of a "dictatorship of the proletariat", so he believed that the proletariat (Communist/Socialist parties, worker unions), shall decide the government of the galaxy. However he doesn't favor authoritarian Stalinism either.

I love all these ideas for characters and factions that are coming in. We could have a beautiful mess on our hands.

For his part, Joachim is probably leaning loyalist, but he has a strong personal anti-aristocratic bent at the same time. A bit contradictory, but it means events could pull him in one of several directions. I also might throw up an app for his younger brother, who is involved with the Zensunni faith, on which I want to expand.

The Revolution is eternal...

Also, it would be interesting to see how the Revolutionaries interact with the Khan and his heir. There's an endless variation of Human cultures and ideologies, and should the Khanate come in contact with this brand of Socialism - I'm curious.

Nor, most likely, would the Deynai like or trust her. But they stand substantially outside the brewing conflict: they are not on the side of the Imperial government, or the Revolutionaries, or the reformers. Their job, as they understand it, is to look after the people caught in the crossfire. That means that they are not likely to start as an enemy of any of the other characters, unless those characters make them so.

Moreover, because they are decentralized and itinerant, the Deynai Order as an institution is less likely to play a role, certainly initially. More likely, a wandering Magister will happen to show up in the middle of each of our various plotlines as and when it would make for interesting storytelling to add one. Even a single Deynai is a wild card: one that can be very useful if you can gain their assistance, and very dangerous if you make an enemy of them.

Quintara, in particular, would I think make for a fascinating character to pair with a Deynai: they have so much in common, and yet - in certain important ways - their differences are so utterly profound and insuperable.

I'd be very interested to see what you come up with for the Zensunni, and any details G-Tech fleshes out for Mahayana Cathericism. I've given some shape to Bahai'Shido, but only through the lens of the Deynai, so it would be useful to compare and contrast in further fleshing out this religion as well.

Anything Solarian wouldn't actually be Solarian but a knock off. Solarian technology interfaces neurologically and just flat out doesn't work or has erratic results.

Well, the Kabuto Gift does interface neurologically, so that's completely consistent. Might this be an exception to the rule that Solarian tech usually does not work?

Name: Rear Admiral Leon Tchaikovsky
Nickname: Bittersteel
Age: 104
Birth Date: IC 25,605
Gender: Male
Planet of Origin: Krieg, Outer Colonies
Race/Species: Human
Height: 1.85 Standard Meters
Weight: 68 Kilos
Physical Description or Image:
Image

Social Class: Non Nobility
Titles: Rear Admiral
Occupation: Imperial Admiral
Hobbies/Pastimes: Martial Arts and Art
Talents/Skills: Tactics, Strategy, Martial Arts
Religious Beliefs: Atheist
Personality: Dutiful, Impetuous, etc.

Biography: Unlike many in the upper echelons of the Imperium’s Admiralty, Leon was born neither rich nor in the Imperial Center. Leon was born in the outer colonies on the Industrial world of Krieg, but he longed to live on a richer and greener world. One night while his parents slept, Leon ran away from his home and made his way to the nearest ship dock with the hope of sneaking aboard a freighter and getting away from his homeworld. Leon managed to make his way to the ship dock and hide between two crates. At that point, Leon experienced "cold feet" and decided to return home.

However, Leon encountered several members of a local criminal gang, who dealt in drugs and human trafficking. They trapped him and attempted to abduct him. Fortunately for Leon, a passing dock constable managed to chase off the thugs and Leon took the opportunity to flee home. He never told his parents about the incident but never gave up his desire to leave Krieg. When a passing Imperial fleet cleared out much of the filth and other criminal groups on his world, this convinced Leon that he would Enlist in the Imperial Navy.

Shortly thereafter, Leon found himself at a Secondary Naval Academy. Leon threw himself into his studies, and before long proved himself a capable tactician. His greatest failing during his time at the Academy was his lack of networking. While he got along well enough with colleagues that held a similar background to himself, he found it difficult to relate to the more affluent and influential students. This would come back to bite him time and again in the future. Despite being in the upper rungs of his class, he was passed over for many of the more prestigious and desirable postings by his social betters. This infuriated Leon to no end, and he would carry a chip on his shoulder through the rest of his career.

For many years, Leon would toil in obscurity. Often lagging behind his peers when it came to promotions, largely because the brass disliked him. By the time many of his friends had earned their first captaincy, Leon was still an Executive Officer. This prompted Leon to work tirelessly to prove himself so as not to be left behind. It would, however, still be sometime before his talent was realized.

When finally Leon made the rank of Captain, he was spurned again by being placed in a particularly dangerous and undesirable corner of space. A place in which careers went to die. Despite this, and the incompetence of those under his command. Over the next several years Leon managed to shape up his crew and bring some semblance of order to the region. But, his time in the far reaches of the galaxy had an adverse effect on Leon. He became a hardened man, and it was reflected in many of his future actions.

Seeing the potential in posting Leon to lawless regions to shape them into productive corners of the Galaxy, the higher ups saw fit to promote him to Commodore. For the next decade, Leon spent his time in the outer reaches of civilization, fighting pirates and suppressing rebellions. The exact opposite of what he’d dreamed for all those years ago. Rather than complain, Leon took his anger out on the outer colonies. And while his methods were certainly questionable, his effectiveness was not.

By the time he was honored with a promotion to Rear Admiral, the name Tchaikovsky was feared all throughout the colonies. The mere threat of bringing Leon into the region was enough to scatter criminal rackets, send pirates cowering, and make seditionists think twice about rebelling. In recent years Tchaikovsky has been given the ability to augment his body to live beyond the natural human lifespan. Although he appears in his mid sixties, Leon is in fact over 100 years old. With the Empire seeing more and more unrest, Leon has been tirelessly running from Sector to Sector putting down rebellions. Yet, with each uprising mercilessly put down, two more rise up elsewhere.

They’d need to be Solarians, which are considered to be extinct/near extinct. So no exception can be given without it being lore breaking. They could have surmised and copied certain things painstakingly to create their very advanced version of the Solarian originals. But that’s basically as far as it can conceivably go unless you try hunting for people with enough Solarian gene markers to have reliable results.

Perhaps that could be why so few aspirants survive the process, then? Most die in part because they don't have enough Solarian gene markers to interface with the Gift. Only the few who survive do have enough markers.

‘twill be good fun for the IC. My reading of the apps leads me to believe I’ve come up with a rather curious northern edge of the Imperium.

Given my character is more right-wing than the revolutionaries like Polan and Arnst, I wonder if the Emperor would try to convince her to remain loyal. But I have a feeling she is too small for him to notice her.

also, I found a theme for our space Lenin
