What I’m saying doesn’t imply “homophobia bad = homosexuality good.” Ofc any harshness we display is seen in other ways. As my next post implies, it’s the sacrifice of multiple values I have for some grander goal, driven by fear and perhaps inner violence.

Part of the Greek and Mesopotamian thing was that there were not as many hangups or rules about sexuality at the time. They did not have the definitions which we use now. The images of naked bodies were not as taboo and a lot of religion had to do with fertility with associated images often seen in public. People were not thinking the same way. The main concern was to first have a family and create certain bonds of friendship and community.

Depends how much you paid them to talk, really. A trader out of Singidun or Varna won't necessarily know much about the wider Imperium, but they might be able to talk fairly knowledgeable about Serbia, Romania, and how they get their goods/their manner of life.

Depends on the type of gold! If you have placer deposits near watercourses and know how to pan, ain't nothing stopping you.

Not being overly familiar with the topic, my dive of academia seems to agree that gold exploitation in Myanmar mirrors the development of civilization in the Ganges River Valley. They were mining gold in ~600 BCE, so you might be able to stretch it to 1000 BCE, but that's a fair ways out. Myanmar is solidly Neolithic, and the best source I saw claimed most gold in the region is in the less inhabited uplands.

So, you'll probably see some rare gold jewelry - the type that could be made by chance discoveries of particularly large gold nuggets washed free into rivers. Bracelets, necklaces, that sort of stuff. But probably only on the richest chiefs, who can command significant economic clout otherwise.
