You do understand that all of this “civilization” garbage is a way to get to building trains, right? There is literally no other reason to do agriculture than to eventually create the conditions for rail transport.

It was a great post including your parts - I am looking forward to dealing with Luther and Issac!

If Luther chooses to tell Aaron about Issac in Tibet it will start at least one major military/diplomatic campaign aimed only at reaching Issac. Any knowledge that accelerates the development of China is going to be worth a lot.

I did a lot less of that than you would think. Most Chinese expansion was not done by force and was more like a gradual assimilation of territory and communities. There have been parts of the country (the north) where a lot of villages and tribes have been ripped up but at this point that was a few years ago. An enormous amount has changed.

There haven't been many organized groups capable of fighting China if they wanted. The first thing they'd have seen of China is obviously an army that they couldn't beat, but the next thing they would see were iron tools brought in to give them an economic reason to join China.

So army first, then shinnies? Ok, methinks the iron tools weren't that effective but the iron halberds on the other hand. Yeah, I can see the iron tools working out.

I can't wait for a bunch of Chinese folk join Dong Wang when he provides a better way of getting what they want by just listing in on some conversation or transporting stolen goods outside of China.

What do you think about a "Great Western Republic" on the Caspian coast in twenty or so years?

Laughs as Chinese army is beaten back by superior weapons, training, and information leaking of their military movements.

My next post involves a very large reorganization of the Chinese central government army, and iron quality in general is always increasing. I doubt you'll have superior equipment or training. The best way to beat a Chinese army is to Teutoburg forest them, not fight them in open battle.

Well, the European colonizers weren't able to field larger military forces at least not initially. The situation is quite a bit different than american colonization anyways.

When I get to modern day Xinjiang I will make sure to write about indians local tribes doing funny stuff. I don't think the idea of mongolian train robbers has been explored in this RP but it should be.

For Luther, he's more than a match for a Chinese soldier currently. Equipment no, but they can change, he does have a steel sword of some quality . Plus, if you haven't realize, Luther won't be fighting like any normal enemy would. Which will be fun for both of us as he grows in power. Especially in Luoyang and other major cities.

By the middle of the 18th century, European empires were fielding armies in the thousands all over the continent, what are you talking about?

I thought you were talking about very early 1500s colonization, not 1750s colonization.

I don't want to invade Hanajima, Japan is a 90% mountain series of islands with no important natural resources I couldn't get somewhere else easier. Myanmar and Korea as well as parts of southern China will absolutely be bad places for a Chinese army that likes to fight on the plains but I have a few ideas for how to mitigate that.
