This is my optimistic prediction for the election--I think Trump is gonna have some of the narrowest margins of victory in places like Missouri, Mississippi, and Georgia, while Biden barely takes independent-minded red states Alaska and Montana.

I also think McGrath is gonna lose Kentucky, but that Bollier, Hegar, Gross, Harrison, and Bullock have solid chances, while I vow to eat my shoes if Kelly, Gideon, Cunningham, and Hickenlooper lose.

Either way, I don't really see a way for the Republicans to hold their Senate majority through this election, and I wouldn't be too surprised if the Democrats got close to a supermajority.

I’m hoping that Gross wins in Alaska.

He was debating Sullivan last night and he came off extremely well, and a lot more human than Sullivan.

All the Biden hype reminds me of how it was inevitable that Clinton would win, how she would have a trifecta, how the Republican Party was dead and gone, how Hillary would be the greatest President ever, all that crap. And then this beauty came up on the TV.
Image
My prediction is that Trump successfully holds enough of his coalition to win enough states, the Republicans hold the Senate, and that the Democrats hold the House, but their majority is reduced. Biden and Harris have no message except Orange Man Bad. In 2016, I would of voted for Hillary. Now I can't trust them. AOC and her puppets have seized control of the Democratic Party. They have abandoned commonsense politics for socialism. The Republican Party has stayed true to the message of 2016. The Democratic platform feels stale and socalistic at the same time.

Aside from North Carolina, I don't think he will. I do believe that he'll have razor-thin margins in some places, due to a combination of increased African-American turnout, Biden's higher polling with older voters, and Trump's unpopularity.

Okay, Orion, no offense, but you think Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer are socialist, so forgive me if I don't really think your analysis is correct.

ALSO I think Utah could be interesting this year. Trump is not at all popular with many Mormons.

Orion, I don’t think you know enough about the Democratic Party to have an opinion on it.

Realistically, the Republicans have no chance of retaining the Senate, mostly because of Trump. Putting off Independents, liberal Republicans and Conservative Democrats has not helped them one bit. I can see the Democrats making a gain of five or six seats in the Senate.

I could do without all the insults. I was simply pointing out that everyone in 2016 was wildly off when predicting Clinton's "inevitable victory." And I am not one of those MAGA hat wearing, QAnon people. I just think that Biden is simply not a good choice for President and that his popularity is a bit overblown. I don't think that Pelosi and Schumer are socialist, and I probably should remove that from my signature, but I don't think too many people in the Democratic Party can stand up to AOC, Sanders, and the Squad. I think its leftward lean is disturbing and that it is drifting too far left for me to support it. I'm a Catholic who adheres to Church teaching on abortion, marriage, and gender. That precludes me from supporting most Democratic social policies. I also don't think that their economics are a good idea and give government too much power. Trump did things with Covid he shouldn't of, he played games in Ukraine he shouldn't of, he is a bit of a moron, but I have little faith Biden will be better. He won't provide the drama, but he will push policies I cannot in good conscience support. And I think his single-minded focus on Covid will lead to harmful side effects. I don't feel like writing them now, but they are not pleasant.

I like to think I've generally handled myself with decency here, so I'd like to address a fair few of the things you've said civilly.

Would a Democratic Party unable to stand up to AOC, Sanders and the Squad have nominated Biden for President? Do the results in the primary reflect a party conquered by socialism? Would a Democratic Party unable to stand up to the Squad have condemned Ilhan Omar's brazen anti-Semitism? Yes, the Democratic Party is moving further leftwards but it's not drifted so far from the New Democracy that both Bill Clinton and, yes, Barack Obama espoused, which is broadly reflective of the liberal centre of the country.

Statistically, the number of abortions has gone down significantly more under Democratic than Republican Presidents. Making it illegal won't stop terminations, but reducing the circumstances where someone is put in the situation where they need to abort, whether it's through contraception or through making parenthood more affordable, will reduce terminations. Surely, one should embrace the policies that demonstratively reduce the number of abortions?

On marriage, is civil marriage indivisible from the concept of religious matrimony? I don't contest that Catholics have a right to define Catholic matrimony as they like, but civil marriage, with all of its legal appendages, should surely be applied evenly as all individuals are entirely to the equal dispensation of the law without discrimination? And seeing as a conservative justice, an avowed textualist, only this year held that discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation is essentially discrimination on the basis of sex, therefore shouldn't legal marriage - separate from Catholic matrimony which remains completely unthreatened here - be applied evenly?

And when the Biden campaign's laid out plan for healthcare, housing, raising the minimum wage, investing in green industry and tax reform that will help balance the books but not place that burden on the middle or working classes, I don't think it's fair to classify him as single-mindedly focused on Covid, as much as he may appear such because the incumbent President is entirely unfocused on the crisis at hand.

And I say that last point as much to people who say the Biden-Harris platform, not just Orion, there's a lot more there than just "Orange Man Bad". Though on that point, I would say that criticising and providing a vehicle for popular upset with the President is still good politics, it's what people want to hear and to a certain extent what people need to hear, but aside from that, there is a platform and it's unfair to say that it isn't there.
