Uh.... what are you considering an overreaction? The calls for a travel ban, I suppose?

Yes, the majority of people exhibit irrational behavior, next thing you know there'll be calls for a major, world-wide vaccine effort to get it done by the end of the year or something. Like I feel this wouldn't be the reaction people would come up with if it weren't for irl developments.

Also tbf for all we know this could be something really minor and the real crisis is about how everyone panicked too much about the cold-like virus causing an economic crash.

And also also MERS - the strain of coronavirus between SARS 1 and SARS 2 - killed half of its victims. That is definitely cause for panic.

Fatality rate was around 35% and even then, less than a thousand people died because of it. Not sure how that would greatly alarm people, especially when we know that it didn't.

WHO says 43%, but anyway.

It would alarm people because high infection rates + pretending there's a fatality rate of 40-50% = death. I mean it really depends, I'm going to treat it like they treated Ebola anyway, with a travel ban after ~1000 cases per week, which I'm assuming it's reached since IRL COVID hit it in its first week.

Eh with Porter I'm just trying to stir up as much panic as possible, since panic will most likely end up helping him based on my guesses and assumptions.

It's definitely an overreaction and I could expect serious pushback on Republicans from business. Moving to slam down travel bans on East Asian countries at the slightest whiff of the new disease would have extreme economic impacts.

This is the one issue Edwards doesn't play politics with - public health.

Whats funny is people say that people are being irrational and yet the irl president called for these same things and had these things been done sooner, lives would have been saved.

Porter V Goldman prediction

I doubt there would be a Porter landslide, but he would likely win

I dated my childhood best friend, he was my highschool best friend's cousin. He'd gone to a private Catholic school from 3rd to 9th grade and I hadn't spoken to him in years. We reconnected and had chemistry, flirted relentlessly for years, got together summer after 11th grade, dated for 3 days before he told me he was cheating on me.

3 days.

Honestly why did the megacrisis have to be the virus, everyone by now has too much experience with it and reactions won't be authentic.

Idk why people are overreacting so much to some virus in Indonesia.

If this happened a year and a half ago, you wouldn’t have Governors/Senators/Representatives/political figures tweeting about it.

It’s quite metagamey if I’m being honest.

I agree with Azek, we can't time travel and put our mindset to a year and a half ago, our reactions will be as though we know whats going to happen. A virus ic and a virus irl that are both very similar, will not get an authentic and fresh mindset that another 9/11 per say would, or a massive hurricane, or a bomb getting dropped somewhere. A virus is just too real.
