Oh no, but that would make sense so I really hope those French Socialists stop yelling at each other and try to win an election

[1] The population is certainly off.

[2] The GDP also is off. I doubt the French GDP was $689 in 1914 (hint: it is closer to double that number and then some).

[3] The railroad gauge of France should be something easy to find out. I found the answer in one simple internet search.

Application for a Nation

Official Name of the Nation: German Empire/Deutsches Kaiserreich

Shortened Name: German/Deutschland

Head of State: Kaiser Wilhelm III

Head of Goverment: Theobald von Bethmann-Hollweg

Government Type: Semi-Constitutional Monarchy

Territorial Claim: IRL German Empire and her colonies.

Alliances the Nation is in: Central Powers

Population: 67 million (Mainland)

National Language(s): German

Lingua Franca(s): German, Polish, various native languages in colonies.

GDP: 237,332 Million (1990 International Dollars)

GDP Per Capita: 3,648 (1990 International Dollars)

Currency: Papiermark

Railroad Gauge: 1,435 mm or 4 ft 8 1⁄2 in

Military Size: Army: 1.5 million Troops

Conscription (if so, mention for how long): Yes, 2 years starting at 20 years old.

Major differences between this timeline's nation and the in real life nation (explain said differences in the history section):
The only main difference is that Kasier Wilhelm II dies in 1902 from a severe pneumonia leaving Wilhelm III to take his place as Kaiser thus eliminating the harsh anti-British stance of the German Empire.

History:
The History of Germany is the same up until, in this timeline, Kaiser Wilhelm II passes away from severe pneumonia contracted while on a hunting trip leaving his son to become Kaiser Wilhelm III. Wilhelm III did not hold the same personal hatred for the British as his father had so instead embarks on a more Bismarckian foreign policy growing ties with both the British and Russian Empires while still maintaining a military buildup and advancement program.

Issues Plaguing the Nation (3-5 Minimum):

Undermined The Empire contains many minorities such as the Poles and French which leaves certain regions more susceptible to partisan activities and subversion by foreign powers.

Culture While not a massive difference between the individual Kingdoms and subdivisions of Germany, some differences and slightly different cultures do exist that make keeping perfect cultural unity slightly harder. However this is more a nuisance than a severe threat to the Empire.

Democracy While small, there are factions inside the Empire that push for either greater or even complete democracy in the Empire. The main group, Deutscher Demokratiebund, wants to see universal male suffrage for those 20 and up.

It would be Kaiser Wilhelm II, and it would be Germany, not German as the shortened name

It all looks good but the military size. Yes, Germany had a huge military, but even Russia didn't have that large a standing army during peacetime. Even with conscription, I'd say 1.5 million is a more logical size unless the Germany army is just a large paper tiger that is underfunded (which I highly doubt).

He explained that Kaiser Wilhelm II died of pneumonia and his son took the throne. And his son was called...Wilhelm.

For France is was Louis, for Germany it was Wilhelm, and for Spain, it was Alfonso, for the UK it was Edward or George. Weirdly the Russians had a large pool of names for their Tsars with not a lot of repetition.

for my first post, I would like to know: with the technology from 1914, would it be possible to build a bridge or tunnel from a major city in the east indies (say, Jakarta) to a major city in southeast asia or india (saigon or Mumbai)

It wouldn't be possible. Though you could build a tunnel from Singapore to Sumatra.

OK, I will base my IC post mostly around that.
